OCTOBER CONTEST
COSTUME APPEALS
Walking out onto the stage of her freshly renovated contest hall in old Pahala, the green haired host of the show walked out to address the crowd that had gathered in the seats, smirking faintly a separate image entirely filled her mind, the thought of addressing a far different crowd in these same seats in the months to come.
Alas, that was a story for another time.~
The lights surrounding the edge of the main stage would burst to life, swirling around the contest hall before centering on the lone shadowy figure that had taken to the stage, her form soon lit up and revealed to the waiting crowd, her costume for the first round's presentations quite similar to a Gourgeist, her hair curling at the ends each side of her frame, and a wide skirt creating the lower half of her dress.
"Ladies and Gentleman! I welcome you all to the grand re-opening of old Pahala's contest hall!~"
Cheers would ring out amongst the crowd, already enthralled by the grand opening Marceline had came out with, and the light, oddly hypnotic tones of the host of tonight's events.
"Over the course of today you will cheer for some of this regions most amazing performers, and even some up and coming newbies who can hopefully put on an equally enticing show! Now, which of you is ready for the first round?~"
The crowd cheered once more, Marcie covering her lips with a light giggle before spreading her arms in an act of showmanship as she continued. "Well first up is our appeals round!~ In the Halloween spirit, each of our contestants will come out and display one of their adorable Pokémon in a costume of their choosing! It is up to our looooovely judges-!"
Her arm snapped to bring everyone's attention to the far left of the stage, 3 small booths brought into view by a newly lit set of stage lights. "Adriel Yucca, Andrea Benoit and-" The third booth lit up but with no one inside, Marcie smiling wide as he hand returned to linger over her chest. "Yours truly, will reward them points based on their creativity, their skill to captivate our amazing audience, and their general showmanship when displaying these fine costumes!~"
With the crowd getting excited, Marcie was drawing things to a close. "To make sure our contestants don't slip up, let's give them a brief demonstration shall we?~ Oh dearie~" With a light clap of her hands Marcie's assistant would walk out onto the stage, wearing a matching pumpkaboo costume of her own, Marcie displaying her proudly.
"Let's imagine my dear Misora is my Pokémon shall we? Having dressed her in an adorable pumpkaboo costume, introduced you the adoring crowd, aaaaand delivered some fine showmanship." She took Misora's hand, forcing the girl to do a brief spin. "We'd see what our judges think!" She gestured back to the booths, the front of each booth lighting up with "10/10", even the empty booth. "And then we move on to the next contestant!~"
With her assistant soon clearing the stage, Marcie herself remained stood on stage, moving to the far left near her booth ready to reach in a hand to deliver her score. "Now, if our first contestant would be so kind, come out and show us what you've got!~"
RULES / TL;DR
- Contestants will post here one after another. The Appeals will run till the 21st of October
- Each contestant is expected to come out displaying their Pokémon in a costume of their choosing. This can be something simple like one of the contest Pikachu, something more elaborate, or perhaps even having multiple Pokémon used to fill one elaborate costume (like a bunch of tiny Pokémon making a Gyarados like a Chinese dragon costume).
- Other Pokémon can be brought to the stage to help display the SINGLE costume the contestant has created. Try your best to get the crowd on your side, and make sure they remember your name! This is your introduction, make it count!
- Here's a Link to the contest guidelines as a more general overlook of appeals rounds.
- Deadline for all 1st round posts is 11:59:59 p.m., October 21, 2016; Pacific US Time.

The claps of the audience from the opening sequence started to die down steadily before Vinny took the stage. Beads of sweat were starting to appear on his face again as he took a look at the audience from behind the stage. Most people in the audience seemed dressed relatively normal for the weather, although a few members have decided to dress up for the occasion. The sun was starting to set, caking the ruins of Pahala in a golden twilight. He smirked a little, the image of entertaining ghouls and goblins for the night was a humorous thought which brought some comfort to the boy. He himself was in costume as well, wearing a blue hoodie that was torn in places and littered with holes in random places. The biggest hole was in the middle of chest, coated with makeup and paint to make it look like it was a person's insides. To go along with the hoodie he had a pair of jeans as well which looked like they were thrown into dirt and dug right back out. The jeans also had holes where his knees were, as they had been stretched out before getting cut open with a pair of scissors. His kneecaps have been covered in plain, white paint with a little bit of red thrown in to try and add the aesthetic of a zombie to them. Vinny's face was coated in a dark muddy green face paint, his normally green eyelids having been covered with red eye contacts. Beads of sweat were now starting to appear on the boy's forehead as his name was called up to the stage. With a deep breath, he walked out from behind the stage and onto the it.
The props that he had asked for were already set up. Now, the middle section of the stage had been transformed into a miniature city set. Not just any city mind you, but a city that looked like it belonged in the Kanto region. The architecture of the cities were there, and the display carried small details like billboards being written in Japanese, and a bullet train that stretched through the display that had an electric toy train that moved. In the center of the display was a large tower that towered over every other building in the center, it looked slightly see through~ish thanks to it's design and was painted red and white. Vinny walked to behind the stage and withdrew a Pokeball from the hoodie's left pocket before throwing it up into the air and out onto the stage.
The pokeball opened it's self and exploded in a bright light as black smoke made it's way out of the ball and into a circle surrounding the pokeball. The cloud of smoke quickly dispersed, revealing the Pokemon wearing the costume, Vinny's Deino, Cressendo in her costume on the right side of the display. The very top part of her fur on her head was dyed a dark beige color to try and create the illusion of it being a horn with the rest of Cressendo's body was in a leathery suit. The suit was colored a grainy red violet and was a little bit stretched out in places, but was otherwise a decent fit for her body. The suit had paws that had three sharp white nails for eat paw that were cartoonishly large. On her torso were two wings, that had the upper 'layer' being black and the 'flesh' of the wings being a dull red, three black lines going down on each wing. In the middle of the costume's chest was a brown circle that looked like it was crumbling and split up into four 'sections'. The final piece were beady, almost snake like yellow eyes on top of where 'eyes' would normally be.
"Everyone!" Vinny called out with a microphone headset, "You've heard of Godzila but I have something better! Behold, Destoroyah!" Cressendo's nose came to life as she caught the scent of treats located all around the display. She 'stomped' over to a skyscraper close to her, before sticking her teeth into the cardboard model, quickly spitting it out. 'Destroyah' continued it's assault on the city, stomping on a small building every now and then. It was at this point that fitting 'monster' music started to play on the contest's speakers over the chaos being caused. With every bite on cardboard was met with it being spit out, before the Deino turned around and caused two more building to fall thanks to the 'kicking' motion from Cressendo's hind legs. She came across the magnet train and, smelling the scent of a treat on the magnet train. With a massive chomp she managed to catch the slow moving train, taking it and throwing it off the rails while destroying parts of the rail.
"Alright so far so good!" Vinny thought to himself eagerly, holding a special spray bottle behind his back. Cressendo continued to make her way across the display, destroying buildings and landmarks be it accidental or on purpose. At one point she was so upset will one she used Aqua Tail on a building, knocking the building clear across the display and into other buildings. The show reached it's climax where after numerous amounts of turning around, she found in her way to the tower in the center of it all. Cressendo grunted, having more than enough of running around like a Pidove with it's head cut off; so she charged up a dragon breath aimed upward towards the sky. The tower was effectively 'sliced' in half as one part fell and only a little bit of the structure was left. At the very bottom of it, was a small treat fit for a Deino. 'Destoroyah' then let out a small roar, before yawning and relaxing her muscles to just lay down and slowly doze off to sleep.
"..Anddd that's our costume round! T-thank you everyone!" Vinny finished as he looked at the ruined display, before returning Cressendo to her Pokeball and quickly jogging off stage; partially thankful that he didn't have to clean up the mess.

Well... This was it. Izumi was probably laughing her ass off right now. How had he gotten himself into this mess? A breath escaped him as he awaited his turn. By what he recalled, he thought he'd been signing up for some kind of pumpkin carving contest, or a Halloween walk. He had no clue he was signing up for a Coordinator Contest until later, and even then, he didn't even know there was going to be a contest! Generally he got called for host or judge duties for this sort of thing, but he hadn't even been called! Regardless, he was here now. And he was competing. Josh had worked hard on his spare time in order to get a routine down, to get costumes down, and to try and train to battle in the Coordinator style if need be. It was a rather... Interesting training experience, with his Pokemon - who weren't anywhere used to the style. But they'd managed to pull it off! Now it was time to see if all that hard work and training was worth it. "You ready, Lightning?" Josh would turn to ask the Pikachu, with a slightly nervous expression. "Piiiii...." Lightning would whine as he would finally crack and hug Josh's leg. Josh would smile softly and kneel down to give the Pikachu a big, affectionate hug. "We're gonna be fine... I'm nervous too. New territory for us both, buddy... But I know you'll knock it out of the park" Josh would comfort, with a smile as he patted Lightning's head. "Pika!" Lightning would chirp as Josh put him down. Josh took a deep breath as it was time... "Alright...."
"Let's do this."
"Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for our next contestant, the star of the upcoming action packed superhero film Blue Dragon... Owner of his own company, and a multi-time host and judge in these contests, now making his debut competing in one of his own! I give to you, Josh Dragomir!"
The crowd could be heard cheering, some even recognizing the name as the blonde would walk out by himself. He could hear the overzealous screams of a few girls, apparently his long golden locks and physical height getting quite a bit of attention. The blonde would try to keep a confident face as he made his way to the center of the stage. And then he stepped, center-stage. The spotlights were on him. He turned to face the crowd...
This is it.
A lump formed in his throat. He'd done this several times before, but now he was playing for keeps! He had to impress! This was a competition! He was nervous, even if he did well in masking it. And then finally, as Josh took a microphone from the stand, he would clear his throat, and speak...
"PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
The crowd seemed to like that one. Josh had yelled it loud and clear, and his expression had changed, just like that. He was cool and confident, charismatic and vibrant. It was like a switch had been flipped in his head.
"How's everyone doing tonight? I'm your host-Oh, right. That's not applicable this time, is it? I almost forgot I'm competing!" The blonde would joke, to the laughter of the crowd. "Buuuuut I'm not here for a bout of stand-up... This time. I might have to try it sometime. But tonight, you came here to see some Pokemon, didn't you? Huh, did'ja?
COME ON, PAHALA! LET ME HEAR YOU! DO YOU WANT TO SEE SOME POKEMON?"
The crowd cries out "YEAH!" And the blonde would cup a hand to his ear toward the crowd.
"ONE MORE TIME, I DON'T THINK I HEARD THAT ONE!"
The "YEAH!" was echoed, even louder this time, and the blonde would nod, seeming satisfied.
"There we go, NOW we're ready for some POKEMON! Alright, ladies and gents... Allow me to introduce to you... COUNT LIGHTULA!"
Suddenly, a trapdoor would open up in the floor behind Josh, and Lightning would give the illusion of being shot out, doing several frontflips in the air - of course via using Magnet Rise in order to shoot himself into the air and fly - before landing on Josh's shoulder. But the real sight to behold was what the Pikachu was wearing. A little black dress suit, with a white dress shirt - but also wearing a large black cape. It was a Pikachu in a Dracula costume! He even had tiny little plastic fangs!
"Now folks, be careful. I know certain corny books and films have conditioned people to think vampires sparkle, but this vampire might BITE if you're not too careful - because he's the real deal! Isn't that right, Lightcula?"
"Pi-Kakakakakakakaka!" Lightning would let out, reverberating his "Ka's" to sound like chattering or clacking, which would likely only be pulled off with proper rehearsal. "But don't worry, Lightcula is well-trained, and most certainly harmless-Ow! Hey, Lightcula, watch the fangs!" Josh would complain toward the Pikachu, who had lightly nipped the back of his neck. Not enough to hurt, of course, it was for dramatic flare, and it had also been rehearsed.
"Pi-Kakakakakakakaka!"
"Well, I'd best go lie down. I'm feeling a tad... Yawwwwn.... Sleepy" The blonde would let out with an actual yawn, and a sleepy tone. It was ominous, certainly ominous. Did he have something in mind? Perhaps that was a hint at something. It seems they'd have to wait until the Performance Round to find out for sure... Maybe.
"Thanks, everybody!"
The blonde would bow to the clapping from the crowd. "THANK YOU!" He called out to the crowd with a wave as he and Lightning would exit stage left.
I'LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO PROTECT IT

Skiddo was giving him a look, this is ridiculous.
Axel rolled his eyes. “Come on Buttons, you look great.” The Skiddo turned tail on the caped boy dressed as a humanized version of the pokemon. “Buttons, come on, we can win this thing!” They were backstage, listening to the roar of the crowd before it was their turn. The announcer’s booming voice could be heard summing up the previous contestant.
Slowly, Buttons came around, nudging the boy’s hand. Not minding the loose fur attaching itself to his brown cloak, Axel knelt down, embraced his deer pokemon in his arms, and stroked its ears.
Buttons shut his eyes and let a content and eased look settle on his face.
“We’re in this together,” whispered Axel into his pokemon’s ear. Buttons nuzzled into Axel’s shoulder. Ever since flyers for the Pokemon Costume Contest had arrived, Axel had been gathering up materials.
The boy’s clothes consisted of creamy, tan trousers, unbuttoned dark orange boots, a fluffy green scarf, and small, thick branches on a wreath on his head. He was beaming with pride, reflecting his Skiddo. “....And now, for our next contestant! Starring the one and only Skiddo and young trainer: Buttons and Axel Erwinnnnn!”
Axel grabbed his jar of lights and stuffed it in his cloak pocket.
“Alright buddy, let’s go. Good luck!” said Axel, leading his pokemon over to the stage entrance. Skiddo scampered below deck, taking place at his own entrance.
Just as he had previously requested, bright lights dimmed as he walked out. Making his way confidently to the center of the stage, a soft spotlight dawned on the young boy.
“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen!” grinned the boy, flinging out his right hand in a flourish. “My name is Axel Erwin, and tonight I have but one simple speculation for you. We live in a practical world with machines and towering cities...but when was the last time you saw some magic?”
The crowd murmured in their seats, watching the boy watch them. His light blue eyes scanned the crowd, feeling the warmth of the spotlight bear down on his cheeks. “Not to worry, not to worry,” Axel continued. In the darkness, Axel had played on the art of misdirection. While the audience’s attention was on him, behind the boy, Buttons had risen up on a platform from the floor. “For tonight, prepare to be astounded by the one, the only, the brave, the stunning...BUTTONS!”
Another gentle spotlight rose on the Skiddo.
Buttons took a couple steps forward, dazzling in the light. His fur glittered against a plethora of colours, black bowtie at his neck and green top hat perched atop his head. With a gleam in his eye, he began to prance around the stage, explosions of sparkles and confetti erupting from each step.
The crowd ooooooh’d and ahhhh’d as silver stars were added to the mix, appearing to be blown out of the skiddo’s mouth like bubbles.
Buttons paused and posed at the edge of the stage multiple times, showering the audience and judges with small doses of glitter. Flowers and soft lights were woven across his back, and the deer pokemon appeared to emanate his own rosy glow. The lights dimmed again as the Skiddo’s light’s shone. Together, Axel and Buttons wove across the stage, fireflies soaring out and around the pair.
With a deep breath, Axel smiled and waved at the audience, making his way back to the platform. The amount of fireflies and glitter around the two increased, creating a blurred whirlwind of green lights until the two could no longer be seen, and Axel shouted triumphantly, “Thank you and goodnight!!” The firefly cloud became a solid color and then dispersed at once, leaving no trace of the Skiddo and the boy.

King Effing IronbloodUnlike many others, King wasn't nervous. He had been raised to be a man, and men feel no fear. If they do, they shove those feelings down! So he had no concerns going into this contest. For now he waited in a chair off stage. Of course do to his size the chair had to be switched out for a sturdier one.
Brenda, his Machop, was lifting huge weights, and rather easily. She looked around as a woman came back from the stage. "Mr.Ironblood you're up next." Just afterwards his introduction came. It was loud enough for everyone to here, but relativity calm, as if talking about someone of high stature, which Ironblood was not...well exceeding height.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for our next contestant, son of Bradely Ironblood, heir of the Ironblood family ranches, and owner of his own separate ranch outside of the Ironblood chain. I give to you, King Ironblood."
The lights dimmed low, as if it was night time, visible, but dim. King walked out, in a leather trench coat, pants and boots. His shirt was a black one, and a black hat, dressed as a monster hunter. Suddenly a howl came from over the speakers, resounding through the room. It remained silent for only a few seconds before another sound came over the speakers. The sound of grass crunching under neath rapid steps. But they weren't human steps, more animal like. Just as the sounds began to get close, his pokemon jumped out from stage left.
Dressed in a werewolf costume, the Machop ran on fall fours, another howl coming from the speakers. As it got close, it's left hand wrapped around his leg before throwing the giant of a man as if he was paper. As the man fell down, Machop caught him as if it was simpler than two-plus-two, and then seemingly threw him into the ground, merely dropping him. One last howl went over the speakers as the lights died.
"And that was a...chilling performance from King and Brenda." As King walked off stage, he couldn't tell if the announcer was shocked, bored, or scared. How had, or good, had he done? Thanks to ❥Megz of Adox and GS

Everyone's costumes were interesting to say the least, and finally he heard his name being called up to the stage. He knew that she was here, and was going to be watching him so he wanted to make this worth it. Adontis was dressed like a little night in plate mail obviously it wasn't metal, but he still looked adorable. Amor on the other hand was dressed like like a dragon person. They had a little skit planned for the audience, and so he walked out as he was introduced.
"Introducing a newcomer to the region, and making his contest debut. Amor Rose!" of course just like they did for the rest of the contestants the crowd cheered.
"We got this in the bag buddy, no one can resist your adorableness." he smiled ruffling the little mouses hair.
"Pichu!" Adontis said excitedly as they made their way out to the stage.
He had not requested any props, or extra effects, the moment they were out on the stage Adontis hopped off his shoulder, and ran to the opposite edge of the platform. With both of them on either side they began to stare down at each other as the announcer began to narrate the little story Amor had prepared for this.
"Here we can see Sir Adontis staring fiercely at the dragon who has destroyed his Kingdom. He has faced many hardships to make it this far, and is wiling to put the beast to rest." and with that Amor, and Adontis charged at each other, and began a mock fight.
Amor slashed at Adontis, who promptly jumped on his head, and caused him to fall forward on his stomach. Then Adontis began to jump on his back trying to slay the evil dragon. Then his Pokemon jumped off his back and his cheeks began to spark excitedly as Amor stood up, and smiled at him preparing for the very last charge of their little play.
"It seems that the dragon was not phased by Sir Adontis's attack whatever shall he do!" the announcer said with fake worry in her voice.
Then a familiar electric aura surrounded Adontis as he rushed forward at breakneck speed towards his trainer. Using Volt Tackle he smashed into his trainer as hard as he could to be as convincing as totally possible and Amor collapsed. He had made sure his costume was insulated with rubber so he didn't get killed by his favorite Pokemon. Adontis however stood triumphantly on top of his trainer waving to the crowd sparking excitedly.
"And now the Kingdom is at peace once again as Sir Adontis has slain the dragon." standing up Adontis took his place on his trainers shoulder, and they both bowed to the crowd, and the judges before walking off the stage.
"I think you did pretty good buddy that will for sure net us some points." he said smiling at his Pokemon as they left.

i see you standing there come with me @tagged Honoka glanced around at her Pokemon, adjusting her costume around her. The floaty dark purple fabric drifting around her, while at the same time clinging to her torso. She’d paired it with several swatches of mesh-like fabric, the pale sheer fabric drifting and swishing as she moved, getting a little in the way. That would matter less once she got on stage though. Her face had been painted the same color as the costume, and she had a scarf bunched around her neck of the same color. She held the hat in her hand, the same sheer cream colored fabric hanging off of it. She’d designed the costume herself, and she was pretty proud of it. Still backstage, she finally put the hat on, satisfied with her costume. “Okay, you guys, you remember what to do? Altaria, you’ll start it off when the lights drop. Make it nice and misty and chilly. Gothita, you’ll be next with what we practiced. And Ralts, you know what you’re doing, right?” All of her Pokemon nodded in confirmation, and she grinned at them. Readjusting her costume once more so the three jewels in the front weren’t drooping, Honoka waited for the lights to drop. She’d asked for her introduction to be done after her performance for the sake of what she had planned. If it went first, she felt like it would ruin the ambiance she had set up. The lights dropped suddenly, dimming almost to black, then the stage lit up with a dim black light, paired with lights colored dark purple and dark blue. It created a very cool effect, making it seem like it was night on stage, but also making things seem to glow. Her Altaria took up his cue, creating a very thick mist that drifted out over the stage, climbing to about knee height. The mist spilled over the edges of the stage and drifted far into the audience, causing a several degree temperature drop in the whole room. Honoka felt herself begin to lift off the ground, and she held her arms out in front of her and off to the side a little bit as she lifted about a foot off the ground. Her feet were hidden under her costume, which seemed to float around her as if an invisible breeze was blowing, but the mist didn’t move with it, creating an eerie effect. Her hands were also hidden within her sleeves, the only exposed skin being her face and neck which had been painted. Her hair was tied up and hidden under her hat, also sprayed the same dark purple where it was still visible. She floated forward onto the stage, the pink spots on the costume, the cream colored sheer fabric, and her eyes illuminated by the black light above the stage, making her seem to glow. “There are stories that exist for love, and there are stories that exist for fun. Stories to tell a tale of times long past, and stories to entertain. Then, there are stories that tell of the dark, and the things that lurk there.” Honoka’s voice projected, taking on a haunting tone as eerie music played softly in the background. She looked surreal, floating above the stage, shrouded in mist as she was. “I am here to tell you a story to chill your bones. And every word of it is true.”She turned slightly, feet never touching the ground, and her Gastly and both Litwicks drifted onto stage. Her Litwick cast a different kind of illumination, one blue and one purple, through the mist, little flames seeming to dance in the fog. Her Gastly floated around the stage, bobbing and weaving around Honoka and the other Pokemon like a little will-o’-wisp. She turned back to the audience, and held an arm out to her side. “There are Pokemon we know, and there are Pokemon we think we know. There are Pokemon of legend. Then, there are Pokemon you only hear about in stories. Pokemon that have been changed and mutated, or created by the human hand only to go horribly wrong. The tale I will tell you is one such Pokemon, made by man and cursed by the world.”Her Litwicks swayed and danced around the stage, her Gastly following along behind them. “There was once a man, a puppet maker. He always wanted a Pokemon, but no Pokemon liked him. Every one that he got ran away from him, and so he would always return, saddened, to his puppets. He would fashion puppets into Pokemon, but none of them were quite the same as having a real one. They might look the same, but a puppet it a puppet, and it could not show him the love he so desired.”The Litwick duo drifted toward the back of the stage as something began to emerge from the mist, her Gastly floating back over to her. “He got an offer one evening. Whilst finishing his latest puppet, the puppet maker heard a knock on his door. When he opened the door, there was an old woman standing there. She offered him the chance to get the lost he desired, if only he would use this paint on his puppet. Desperate, he agreed, taking the paint from the old woman and thanking her.” The Ralts would drift forward, glowing under the blacklight. Each of its joints were painted to make it look like a puppet, the ralts having been painted to look like painted wood. There was a face painted over its own, and it truly looked like a wooden doll rather than a living Pokemon. “He painted the doll with the paint that the woman had given him, but nothing happened. Disappointed and saddened, he put the puppet up on the shelf with the rest, and went to bed. During the night, something unusual happened. The puppet maker woke up to a noise, someone was going through his kitchen. When he went to check, he could see no one. But he could still hear the rattling sound of someone going through the cupboards.”“The puppet maker opened the cupboard, and found himself staring at a Ralts. Only, it was made of wood. He hurried back into his dining room to check the shelf the puppet had been sitting on, but it was gone. His puppet had come to life. The paint had worked after all.” Her Ralts began to drift around the stage as though moved by invisible strings, jerking this way and that. “The man was overcome with joy, and brought the living puppet back to his room with him for the rest of the night.”Honoka paused for effect, watching the audience’s reaction. So far, some seem slightly spooked and others seemed to have the idea that this was some happy story. Boy were they ever wrong. “For three days and three nights, the puppet maker lives happily with his living puppet. Nothing seemed amiss. On the fourth morning, the old woman who had given him the paints showed up at his door again. ‘I see the paints have worked. Good. But beware, for this comes at a price. If you do not heed my warning, great misfortune will fall upon your house.’
‘Thank you, old woman, for the paints. I have become so happy to have a Pokemon that loves me like I love it. It has brought me such joy that no misfortune could impede that.’
‘Though that paint brought your puppet to life, it will not stay as such forever. There are but two ways to make it so. If you bring me the puppet on the next full moon, I will be able to cast a spell on it, but it must remain with me for one week of every month. The second way is to give a life to that puppet. Bathe it in the lifeblood of a dying man, and it shall remain forever.’ “The puppet maker, not wanting to lose the love he had found, refused to bring the old woman the puppet. He shut the door on her, taking the puppet back to his room, hiding it jealously. He would not allow anyone to take it from him. The spell of the paint had begun to take hold of his mind.”“Late that night, the puppet came alive again while the puppet maker was in his bed, asleep. It had misread his intentions through the magic. The puppet maker had not intended to give the puppet to the old woman, but he wanted it to continue to live. The puppet took that as he was giving his life to the puppet.”There was a thud in the now completely silent stadium, and the Ralts’s head fell off. It bounced across the stage, rolling off and into the crowd. People shrieked and gasped, watching the head roll toward them, and the now headless Ralts continue to calmly wander the stage. “And so he did. The puppet now lives, wandering on its own when the mist is thick and the night is dark, bathing in the lifeblood of weary travellers that it lures back to the home of its creator.” Honoka gazed out at the audience, taking in their reactions. Silently, she bowed, and floated backwards off stage with her Pokemon, the mist fading and lights dimming once again, causing them to disappear. The lights came back on fully in the auditorium, and though the temperature was still cooler than normal, people breathed a collective sigh of relief, and some chuckled, the story having gotten them good. “Ladies and Gentlemen, I can’t believe my eyes! What a spectacular performance by local breeder Honoka Sato!”
Honoka was training her Pokemon for this performance. She’d just dressed her ralts as a puppet, painting it up with makeup and facepaint. “There, that looks good.
