Elayne Francesca Laurent
Ela | 20 (May 18) | Female |
Sinclair City | Breeder | Teacher |
Appearance
Standing at 5'2", Elayne has a petite, athletic figure yet she walks with the same elegance as a dancer. Her almost porcelain skin burns rather easily in the sun and is the reason why she tends to where a jacket no matter what the weather. For whatever reason, no matter how long Elayne remains outdoors she never seems to tan even after the initial burn has healed. She has obtained quite a few scars due to several injuries obtained through a number of incidents. A few scars can be seen on her arms and legs which she keeps covered for the most part. The most notable scars are the jagged scar on her left shoulder and several lesser scars on her chest region from when she was nearly killed.
Elayne’s orange eyes dominate most of her face and are one of her most appealing features. Her high cheekbones and angular features only seem to accentuate this. She has dark hazelnut brown hair that reaches just past her shoulders and has more of a messy appearance no matter what she does with it. Because of this Elayne usually wears her hair back simply so she doesn’t have to deal with it later. Very rarely will she wear her hair down unless it’s a special occasion since she doesn’t usually have the time nor the patience to figure out to tame her wild mane.
Elayne likes to wear whatever’s comfortable and doesn’t really care about appearances. As a result, she usually is seen wearing jeans and a t-shirt along with a light tan jacket. Occasionally she’ll wear blouses and slacks but only when she needs to be formal, very rarely will she ever wear a dress and even then, not for very long. It’s simply not as comfortable as her usual attire and she can’t stand being in a dress or even so much as a skirt for long periods of time. Elayne is always seen with a black choker that was given to her as a gift a while back. Other than these few accessories, Elayne doesn’t see the need to wear anything else unless it’s suggested to her and even then, she won’t wear very much other than a simple bracelet and maybe a pair of earrings.
Personality
Upon meeting her initially, Elayne comes off as a warm, friendly person that genuinely cares about others. It’s rather easy for her to get along with others and would never think about turning away someone who asks for her help. She finds it difficult to say no to those in need and tends to take on more than she can handle more often than not. Regardless of how difficult it may be, Elayne does not break a promise and will follow through on her word even if it does cause her undo stress.
Though not necessarily a pacifist, Elayne is very anti-confrontational and generally does whatever she can to avoid an argument. She has a very long fuse and rarely ever gets angry but instead withdraws when she is upset for any reason until she has calmed down. It has become something of a habit to become a recluse whenever something is bothering her so that she doesn’t burden anyone with her troubles. Even if there are others around that she can talk to, Elayne prefers to hide unless and until someone seeks her out since she finds it difficult to explain what’s bothering her when she’s emotional.
Loyal to a fault, once anyone has earned Elayne’s trust, she will stand with them through thick or thin. This trust does not come easily however since she has been betrayed numerous times by those that intended to use her. Her past experiences combined with constantly having to look over her shoulder because of the rebels, make it difficult to trust anyone. Ever since she nearly died, Elayne is much more cautious about who she spends time with and avoids situations that might put her, or anyone else in danger. Though she’s not necessarily fearful of new situations, she is leery of anything that might put her in a similar situation to when she had amnesia. Since that time, she still has nightmares about what happened that day and is scared that something like that would happen again.
Elayne loves travelling and spending time in nature and considers herself something of an herbologist. Her knowledge about herbs and berries and where to find them is vast, and will often spend her days drawing various herbs and berries in her notepad for future reference. A bit of an athlete, she enjoys most activities that she can do outdoors especially when she can spend it with her Pokémon, friends, and family. Family is very important to her and she will do anything to protect what family she has left.

History
Elayne was born the only child of Bernard and Madelyn Laurent in another region. As a child, she had her parents wrapped around her little finger and knew exactly how to get her way. Since she was the only daughter of a count, it was only right that she was given whatever she asked for. Besides, she was nobility and that meant that she was more important than regular people, or at least that was what her mother told her. From as far back as Elayne can remember, she was set apart from most of the other children and grew to be an entitled child that believed she was better than others. That had to be the reason she was kept away from them and her mother encouraged this behavior.
Sent to a prestigious school, Elayne tried to make friends with some of her classmates but soon found out that this was easier said than done. Many of her peers were mean or only liked her because of who her parents were. Instead of trying to find a way to make friends with them, Elayne ended up spending most of her time away from the classroom as often as she could, even running away from school much to her parents’ chagrin. One day, when she was trying to get away from some of the meaner kids, she wandered into the forest and got lost. It seemed like hours before a commoner came and found her. She was different than the other kids she knew and led her out of the forest with a soft, reassuring voice that Elayne trusted. After that, Elayne started to spend more time with the other kids and found that they were a lot kinder than the ones at her school. Her mother didn’t approve of it, but Elayne wasn’t going to just stop seeing them when they were so much more fun to be around.
In hopes that she would be able to curb her daughter’s “reckless” behavior, Madelyn decided to let Elayne choose her first Pokémon on her 10th birthday. Ecstatic that she would finally get to choose a Pokémon of her own, Elayne ran to the nursery where she stumbled upon a small Eevee being threatened by a trainer. Shocked and angry that the clearly upset Eevee was being treated that way, Elayne yelled at the trainer, scooped up the scared Eevee, and ran away with the poor thing. She didn’t tell her parents what the trainer had done, but claimed that she wanted the Eevee she had rescued as her Pokémon. Instead of agreeing with her however, their parents tried to reason with her and told them that there were better Pokémon at the nursery than the little Eevee. It was the first time they had ever told her no and Elayne was shocked to say the least. Instead of listening to her parents, she took one of the spare pokéballs lying around the house and told the Eevee that if she came with her, nobody would hurt her again. As soon as the Eevee was caught, Elayne named her Elly and promised to always take care of her.
A few days later, Elayne’s parents took her to a white building instead of the nursery where she was allowed to choose one Pokémon for her first, not knowing that she had kept the Eevee as well. After some thought, she chose a Chikorita and was given her pokéball and some food. The new Chikorita would be named Lily and taken home to meet Elly and told them that she would always take good care of them no matter what.
A few days later, Elayne's parents asked her how she was going to use Lily and explained that there were many different ways that Pokémon could be trained, including keeping commoners in their place. After thinking for a few moments, Elayne decided that she was going to be a breeder much to her parents’ disbelief. Madelyn tried to dissuade her from it and instead insisted that she use the Pokémon to put those beneath them in their rightful place. Elayne didn’t say anything after that, but started to spend her time in the library reading all she could about healing techniques of Pokémon and anything else she could get her hands on.
With all the pressure her parents were putting on her to make the ‘right’ decision in raising her Pokémon, Elayne took to spending more time in the forest than at home, learning about the different herbs and berries that grew there. She liked spending time with the people in the village and grew to love them. It was on one of these excursions that she found and caught a Dratini that she later named Skye and ran back home to tell her parents what she had caught. Instead, she saw a young man was there named Simeon who was apparently supposed to be her ‘betrothed,’ whatever that meant. They were supposed to become good friends and were told to spend the day together. Simeon seemed nice enough, and for a while they did have fun, but that was until he saw Elly and said that Eevee were good for nothing. Elayne was shocked and yelled at him, storming away with her precious Elly in her arms. She would show him, Elly wasn’t useless at all! How far she ran, Elayne certainly didn’t know but the next thing she knew she was by her favorite river that she called her secret hiding place. Simeon shouldn’t find them there at any rate, at least not for a while. They would stay there for a while until Elayne calmed down; just as they were about to head back, Elly evolved into an Espeon much to Elayne’s surprise. Maybe this would make Simeon take back what he had said.
During the months that followed, Simeon and Elayne continued to grow closer. Sometimes he would get angry with her if he didn’t get his way but he always apologized afterwards. Elly was a huge help in letting her know when Simeon was around and soon became her protector of sorts when he became a little too rough. It got bad enough that Simeon demanded that Elly be left behind if he was going to spend time with her. Elayne was reluctant to considering Simeon’s violent behavior but agreed after additional pressure from her parents. Without Elly, Simeon only grew worse and would often hurt Elayne just to get her to do what he wanted. It wasn’t fun to be around him anymore, and it scared her. She even tried telling her parents what he was doing but Madelyn blamed it all on her and her father didn’t believe her either. Eventually it got to where she simply couldn’t take it anymore and decided to run away where Simeon hopefully wouldn’t be able to touch her anymore.
Elayne learned the hard way that it was best not to trust anyone, especially after her mother put a reward out for any information regarding her only daughter. This led to quite a few betrayals from people she considered her friends among other things. She would meet a young man named Haiiro on the beach one day and after a battle, they parted ways as friends. Eventually, Elayne was found by her cousin, the reigning duke of the east, but upon explaining the situation, was offered sanctuary at his home. She would stay at her cousin’s home for quite a while and would even invite Haiiro to Christmas that year when she saw him next.
When she was out shopping one day, the rebels bombed the shopping center and clock tower injuring herself, and many of her friends and family. Many were killed in the process and Elayne would be rushed to the hospital thereafter. After she had a chance to recover from the injuries she and her family sustained, but it helped that Haiiro was there. For whatever reason, he had decided to stick around after that and even took her on an outing when she was feeling better. It was a bit embarrassing because she had to cross-dress in order to prevent anyone from recognizing her. The day was fun, especially since she was with Haiiro but in the end Simeon found her again. With some quick thinking, she was able to get away without too much of a confrontation but the incident left her shaken for days after that. She hoped that would be the end of that but Simeon found her again and if it hadn’t been for Haiiro and the rest of her family stepping in, he would have surely killed her.
When Elayne woke up, she was in the hospital again with severe injuries and retrograde amnesia. She couldn’t remember what had happened to her or why she was in the hospital. To some extent, she couldn’t even remember the people who kept coming in and out of her room. All she knew was that she was terrified that something or someone was going to hurt her again. For a long time after she had recovered from her injuries, Elayne didn’t go out because something else horrible might happen. It didn’t help that the rebels were getting worse and even grew bold enough to try and attack the sanctuary that her cousin’s castle had become. The events that followed were a blur to Elayne even after she regained her memories. There were many assassination attempts on her life and the others in the family which resulted in several of her own Pokémon died trying to protect her and the others residing there. Haiiro even was almost killed in one of the rebel attempts on her life before her cousin decided that they were leaving. Everyone had been through too much and had lost too much to stay there any longer.
In what was perhaps the hardest decision she made, Elayne was forced to sell some of her Pokémon in order to help buy passage to the Veria region. The new region was peaceful and a stark contrast from the warzone the region had become. It was a relief to finally be able to relax and make a home where they would be safe. Several of the people that had come with her cousin parted ways but Elayne stayed with Haiiro and settled down in Sinclair City. She would become a teacher at one of the local schools and even find a farm where all of their Pokémon would be able to stay and live comfortably. Without having to look over her shoulder constantly, Elayne started to breed again, glad to be able to do something she enjoyed once again. The new eggs wouldn’t replace the Pokémon she had lost, but perhaps they would bring new joy into their lives. The league in Veria interests her since she has never seen one before; perhaps it would be fun to challenge the league with the Pokémon she has raised. Whether Elayne will follow through on this new challenge however remains to be seen.

Night had fallen hours ago and all was quiet; nothing except the waves crashing on the shore and the nocturnal animals could be heard. The night sky was clear and Vivian could almost count each individual star. It was a beautiful sight and the vampiress couldn't help but smile at how serene the night was. Sitting with her back against a tree, with the campfire lighting up the pages of her notebook, it almost felt like everything was normal. Like the reality of her own vampirism was the dream and she hadn't really been living the past one-hundred and eighty years as one. If only that was real.
Despite how much Vivian wished she was human again, she had long since forgotten what it was like to be human. What few memories she still had were fleeting at best and she could hardly remember what it felt like to even breathe. Her only vivid memories were of the people that were important to her, those that had mattered to her. Yet even those precious memories were fading with time. How long would it be before she forgot them entirely?
Pushing the thought from her mind, Vivian focused on the drawing she was working on, the one of Zane staring out at the ocean. Zane hadn't been what she was going to draw initially, but it was just too good of an opportunity to pass up. The way the campfire cast light on him was too picturesque to pass up and his expression seemed thoughtful, if foreboding. That and his pose just seemed to make him look...handsome. Regardless, the drawing was almost finished and then perhaps she could see exactly why Zane looked so gloomy.
The relationship between her and Zane was complicated at best. He was the vampire that had created her, and her master in a way. Yet, they were friends now and perhaps more. Zane had brought her through her manic fledgling state and even took care of her when she had tried countless times to kill herself. It was foolish now that she looked back on it but...she didn't actually remember a lot of her first years as a fledgling. Perhaps it was best that she didn't remember.
As she put the finishing touches on the drawing, Vivian glanced back up at Zane, humming a little as she continued to shade in the picture. It didn't seem like he had moved for a while which was good for her, but she couldn't help but wonder if there was anything wrong. After she'd finished, the notebook and her art supplies were put away before Vivian crawled over to where Zane sat and flopped into his lap with a sigh.
"Zane~,”Vivian chimed in a sing-song voice, "Sing something for me~,”she continued, smiling up at him. Hopefully singing would prove enough of a distraction for him from whatever was bothering him. Well, that and Vivian loved to hear his voice, it was soothing for her and she enjoyed hearing it, it almost reminded her of her mother but even if she had never been as good at singing as Zane.
