Zane was continuing his journey of going around and challenging his fellow Leaders to determine the strengths of them all. This had brought him to Liggs in order to challenge Mia, which did not go well, and ultimately also brought him to the Skydome. Having two Leaders in the same city made things convenient for the traveling man. Zane only had a bit of knowledge on Damian, and that being that the man had specialized in Flying pokemon, which was fine because Zane had some birds of his own. He began his entry into the Skydome, cautious for whatever could happen.
That was when the shock of the Gym caught up to Zane, the lack of gravity lifting the male into the air, and it was not exactly pleasing. Zane made a face, but decided to belt out anyway, "Damian! I have come to challenge your gym! Let's go, Bird man!"

While he was busy preparing for a storm that was looming on the horizon, he wasn’t exactly expecting another kind of storm to roll in—in the form of a fellow Gym Leader!
While he was busy in one of the back rooms of the Skydome, working on what appeared to be a collapsible weapon, he then heard the alarm going off in that one room where he was working—someone had triggered the anti-gravity!
“Huh… been a while since I last heard that…” he said, suddenly looking at the monitors that were hanging up on one side of the wall; and he then flipped a switch before hearing an unfamiliar voice crackling over the sound system.
Bird man? Of all the things, it had to be ‘Bird man’? were the thoughts that formed in his mind, before he quickly grinned and shuffled around for some of his occupied Pokéballs and dropping them down his jacket, before zipping it shut.
This is going to be fun… he thought to himself, letting the emerald-cored Sableye look at him curiously, before pointing to the screen. “It’s about time someone came by and gave me a run for my money, don’cha think, Loki?” he remarked, who then hissed in his direction, obviously still upset about something. “Geez, fine, be like that…” he muttered with a grumble, before heading towards the door and then opening it—and then cheekily drifting out in what appeared to be a backstroke motion!
“Well, well… you’re someone new,” he began, before catching sight of who it was. Ah. So looks like someone’s hatched the idea I did before… he thought, swimming lazily in the anti-gravity. “I’ll take your challenge, but first, you gotta figure out how to reverse the gravity back to normal,” he remarked, a Cheshire Cat-like smirk on his face as he floated around in mid-air—very used to the sensation of flight. “When you do figure it out, then we’ll start,” he added, seemingly swimming towards one of the two “boxes” that were hoisted in mid-air.
Now, if that’s not an obvious-enough clue, then I’m pretty sure this would take a while… he thought, finally reaching it and gripping onto its side, before swinging himself in with little effort.
“Well? I’m waiting~!” he shouted from his higher perch, looking down amusedly at the flailing Dark-type Gym Leader.

"A challenge before the challenge, huh?" Zane mused as he kept an eye on the man. Where was he heading towards? A box? Zane wasn't always known for being the brightest bulb, bu@damiant he could take a hint with ease. The male followed suit of what Damian did, and began to make his way to the box. Zane wasn't exactly used to the lack of gravity, and so it took him quite a bit of time to accomplish the, seemingly, simple task. After several struggling minutes, Zane made it to the box in question, and noticed a lever, "I can see why this is the challenge. That sucked."
Zane made his way to the lever and pulled it, blinking when he heard the machines whir, and felt the gravity slow come back to the normal state. This dropped the man straight down, leaving him taking a header toward the floor, and left him groaning as he got back to his feet. Zane rubbed his head as he glanced toward Damian, "Alright, man. Now you and me, doubles style. Work for you?"

“You’re only the third person to come by so far. The first two had rather…interesting reactions,” he mused, chuckling softly before the anti-gravity finally reversed itself, and both boxes came back down to the ground with a rather loud crashing noise. Unlike Zane, though, he’d been hanging on, so the moment the jarring impact shook his box, he didn’t appear too fazed.
As the sides of both boxes crashed to the ground, another whirring noise echoed throughout the area—but it was just the actual, legitimate ceiling of the Skydome slowly humming open, revealing the afternoon sky—and while there were gray clouds on the horizon, the sun looked like it was going to hold for a good while.
Well then that’s just perfect… why don’t we get this shit started, then? He thought to himself, chuckling softly as he nodded at the format.
“Doubles it is! And here’re my companions, ready to face you,” he continued, flicking a Heavy and a Moon Ball skywards, watching as two bursts of light transformed into his Skarmory, as well as his Aerodactyl. While one immediately took off and began to hover at a point above Damian, the other one remained on the ground—but not for long.
“Show your two, and make your move! Give me one hell of a time!” he shouted, flexing his fists and preparing himself for whatever would come out on his side of the field.

"I do hope that you're ready for this, Damian! Let the Darkness blanket the skies. Link, Rahksha, bring the darkness!", Zane called out as he tossed up two pokeballs, both of which snapped open over his head and summoned his pokemon. A Sableye and a Spiritomb emerged from the light, and it was almost obvious what Zane had planned. The male generally used Link as his "scout" Pokemon, a way to test the waters with his opponents and to gauge their battle style. Since Zane was going with a doubles challenge, he figured one of his Spiritomb would make a good secondary scout, though it was immobile.
"Time to party! Double time, boys, Taunt and Confuse Rays for the start!", Zane called out, and now it was going to be even MORE obvious what his game was. Link, the Sableye, began to waggle his tiny digits as Rahksha began to glow with a blue aura, and their offensive began. Rays of light suddenly poured down toward the opposing "birds", attempting to ensnare their minds and confuse them, while also working overtime to try and enrage the pair, taunting them to try and attack.
Confuse Ray and Taunt was used by both Pokemon, targeting the two opponents. Damian Moreau

Now, the little danger here was that since he didn’t have an Altaria (nor a Dragonite yet, for that matter) most of his team was rather skewed towards the offensive side of things. Recognizing what he was up to, he knew that he was going to be stuck for just a little bit; especially since he knew that he’d locked the switch rule.
I should really change that. But I guess that’s half of the fun… he thought, seeing that both of the ‘mons on the opposite side of the field were, interestingly, Ghost-types.
And one of ‘em looks like Loki, how cute… he thought, wondering if his own Sableye would talk to him right after this. But back to the battle—before the Aerodactyl, or the Skarmory for that matter could make a move, the Confuse Ray explosion literally went off in both Sky and Volée’s eyes, which caused both of the Flying-types to blink around and stagger! While the flight pattern of the Aerodactyl dipped a little bit, the Skarmory, who was flat on the ground, was just staring into space…
…and shit, that locks me out of more than half of Sky’s moves right away. Not so bad for Volée, though… but still, I can hope… he thought, the look on his face changing to one of concentration. Would he play the waiting game, or risk a—his thoughts were suddenly interrupted as the Aerodactyl let out a shrieking cry, before flapping its wings!
“Volée, are you sure?! Alright, let’s do this. Aerial Ace on the Loki-double, now!” he began, pointing forward, while looking at Sky out of concern—was the Skarmory sane enough to do such a thing? “Sky… if you can bloody hear me… let’s make ‘em scatter! Rock Slide!” he continued, and while the Aerodactly rocketed forward before coming up-close and trying to hit the Sableye with Aerial Ace, the Skarmory looked around confused, for a few moments, before flapping its heavy metal wings.
A sudden cascade of rocks began to crash around the opposite side of the arena; but would their luck hold out? Tick, tock… he continued to himself.

The large rock bird came soaring across the battlefield, which shocked Zane as much as it did Link. The tiny creature was swept up in the attack, rolling back, and subsequently avoiding the avalanche of rocks that the Skarmory rained down upon their side of the field. Rahksha, however, was not as lucky in that department. Being a large, ghostly spirit trapped quite literally in a rock, his movement was pretty much nonexistant, and so the rocks just slammed down onto him like it was nothing. He payed it no mind really, waiting for Link to come bumbling back to his side before wailing a bit to signal to Zane they were ready.
"Alright, guys, double time! Show them the darkness!", Zane called out with a point toward the opposing side of the field. At least he was trying to be enthusiastic, though it's falseness showed. The two creatures got into sync with Link waggling his fingers, and Rahksha emitting a blue aura around himself. Suddenly, a large burst of dark energy launched forward, seeming to move as one, until splitting off to launch at both the birds.
Sableye is hit by Aerial Ace (38%) -> ( 62% remain), avoids Rock Slide Spiritomb is hit by Rock Slide (19%) - > ( 81% remain) Both used Dark Pulse. Sableye targets Aerodactyl (25.5-30.2%), Spiritomb targets Skarmory (40.2-47.6%) Damian Moreau

Thank his lucky stars that Sky and Volée had listened to him this round; and while the Loki look-alike had gotten hit with the Aerial Ace, Damian knew he wouldn’t be able to use that same trick twice in a row, despite the fact that the attack was guaranteed to hit.
While the Sableye on the opposite side had gotten out of the way when the Rock Slide began crashing all around Zane’s side of the field, the Spiritomb had taken the attack—it was at this point that he’d realized something.
His thinking was interrupted when a sudden blast of dark energy (a really big one, even) came hurtling his way—before it veered off and split into two directions; while one was headed towards Sky, the other one was screaming towards Volée!
Wondering if his luck would hold out a second time, he then internally crossed his fingers, before shouting, “Volée, block it with your Stone Edge! Sky, I know you’ve got your head in the clouds, but there’s no time to do that! Counter it with your Flash Cannon!” and hoping for the best.
The Aerodactyl let out another ear-piercing shriek, before summoning a sudden “wall” of spiked rocks, that absorbed the impact of the incoming Dark Pulse; and while the Skarmory was still floundering around, it had enough wits to fire off a super-bright flash of energy, and launching it at the incoming Dark Pulse that was headed its way.
Alright, that’s got that part down… now… he thought, suddenly seeing that out of the two, the Spiritomb was going to be the bigger problem; as he knew that this particular ‘mon had a unique typing, most attacks would only scratch it at most. “Volée, head at the Spiritomb with a Dragon Claw! Sky, follow it up with an Air Slash attack on the Sableye, but be careful not to hit your partner!”
The Aero then flew forward, before rearing up its claws, shimmering with draconic energy and taking a swipe at the Spiritomb, while a blade of crossed air came from the Ska’s direction, sailing towards the Loki-lookalike.
Skarmory & Aerodactyl are out on the field! (albeit still...distracted bc PRETTY LIGHTS YEAH)

Aerodactyl uses Stone Edge (1) to block the Dark Pulse headed its way; while Skarmory counters the Dark Pulse with its Flash Cannon (2), dissipating the attack!
Aerodactyl then heads up close and personal to Sableye with a Dragon Claw (3) (23.2 - 27.8%) on the Spiritomb; while the Skarmory unloads an Air Slash (4) (24 - 28.6%) on the Sableye!

Zane was pretty shocked, and his Pokémon shared the shock with him. Never had the group seen anyone bounce through confusion, let alone two Pokémon, and DEFINITELY not twice. "Well aren't we just a lucky sumbitch?", Zane said dully, but was trying not to be fazed. "Protect yourself, Link. Rahska, endure!", he called out as the opponents swooped in. Link folded his arms and created a barrier that bounced the attack away while the Spiritomb just took on the attack. The Tomb made a noise at Zane to show his disapproval of the man's actions. "Sorry, Rahska. Alright, let's kick it up a bit. Rah, put the rockbird asleep. Link, Plot out a nice electrical blast for the metalbird!" Zane gave the orders, and away the two went, Rahska sending a pinkish, hypnotic blast at the Aerodactyl while Link took on a reddish aura around himself before releasing a ball of electricity toward the Skarmory.
(1) Sableye uses Protect. (2) Spiritomb takes the attack. [-25%] (58%) (3) Spiritomb uses Hypnosis on Aerodactyl. (4) Sableye uses Nasty Plot (Special Attack +2 stages) (5) Sableye attacks Shock Wave (60.5 - 71.5%

Hissing slightly as one of his attacks had been defended against, Damian noted that a Protect had been used…and that Zane was pretty much down to one more use of that move until he’d be forced to keep dodging his moves. Well, there’s a counter for that… alright, let’s go… he thought, resisting the urge to form a smirk on his face as he kept his features as neutral as possible.
While the Dragon Claw attack did connect on the weird stationary rock, he knew that he had to end everything, and fast! “Fly up!” he shouted in the Aero’s direction—and not a moment too soon, as the Hypnosis had been flung… at thin air! The Aero had banked hard and zipped upwards, before he nodded in Volée’s direction. “Nicely done! Okay, let’s keep the pressure on! Use your Stone Edge on the Spiritomb, now!”
The Fossil ‘mon then let out another screeching noise, before sharp, pointed rocks shot up, aimed at the weird thing that was seemingly tied to a singular location—but it was a bit late for him to notice that Sky was under attack! “Ah, shit. Sky!” he shouted, looking right on cue to see that the Skarmory had gotten pummeled with a Shock Wave attack.
While the attack wasn’t as painful as he knew it would be (thank Arceus for Sky’s part-Steel typing) he was in a bit of trouble now. He couldn’t tell if there was some kind of a loopy look in the Skarmory’s eyes, and so decided to focus his attention on Volée instead, at least for the moment—who was hovering higher and somewhat out of reach.
If I did my math right, I think I can do… wait… ah, shit! Damn it, Arceus-damnit! He thought, a deeper flicker passing through his purple gaze for the briefest of moments, resisting the urge to smack a palm to his forehead. Have to keep the pressure on… but how… Stone Edge… oh wait! He thought, suddenly getting an idea. Hoping that luck was on his side after that Stone Edge attack, he then decided to watch and wait…
Skarmory & Aerodactyl are out on the field! (albeit still...distracted bc PRETTY LIGHTS YEAH)

Aerodactyl banks sharply skywards, dodging the Hypnosis (1) before triggering a Stone Edge (66.3 - 78.4%) (2) (critical hit chance triggered!) on the Spiritomb.
Aerodactyl is flying slightly higher and out of reach.

Things to be putting Zane in a rough spot as he was about to go down one Pokemon to Damian, but the man was always prepared for things. "Rahksha, use Destiny Bond on the Aerodactyl", Zane said calmly. The Spiritomb began to glow as he called for a strange power of Vodoun premise. The light was attempting to ensnare the Dactyl, and drag him down with the Spiritomb as he fainted. Either way it went, Zane was out a Spiritomb, so he returned it to his Pokeball, and shuffled across a few others before finding the one he was looking for. He tossed it in the air over his head, and released a rather fat bird before him: A Honchkrow.
"Greetings, Cherran. Whip up a nice draft for us, eh?", the man said to his Pokemon, who raised his wing in a salute before lifting himself off the ground, and flapping rapidly. This kicked up the wind around himself, and Link, making it a tad easier for them to move quicker around the field. "Link, Dark Pulse. Aim at the metal bird, if you would.", Zane said calmly to the Sableye, who began to waggle his fingers, creating an orb of dark energy before him. With a slight shove, Link sent the orb flying like a cannonball toward the Skarmory.
(1) Rahksha is hit by Stone Edge. Attempting Counter with Destiny Bond. (2)Spiritomb is replaced by Cherran, the Honchkrow (3) Cherran uses Tailwind on the team (4) Link aims to faint Skarmory with a Dark Pulse (59.7 - 70.8%) Rahksha the Spiritomb: FaintedLink the Sableye: 62% health, Special Attack +2, Increased Speed Cherran the Honchkrow: 100% Health, Increased speed. To be fair, Damian wasn’t expecting the Spiritomb to suddenly use Destiny Bond, and he flinched as the Spiritomb had taken the hit—but at the same time had taken down his Aerodactyl with him.
“Volée!” he began to shout, before seeing that there was another attack headed his way—with the way he was being forced to go on the defensive, his attention had deviated from his Skarmory at that point.
“Well, shit,” he hissed, quickly pulling out the Heavy Ball and the Safari Ball, recalling the two. Didn’t expect to be down two so quickly… looks like he’s forced me to play my trump cards a lot earlier than normal… he thought as he then popped a Moon Ball and a second Safari Ball to full size, before sending their occupants forward.
The two beams then coalesced into a Dragonite and a Noivern respectively, before he looked up at the sky, this crazed grin on his face. “Raijin. Let’s begin the real show with a Safeguard, and then bring down the storm clouds! Use your Rain Dance! Fen! Get ready! Whip up a Tailwind too, and then prep the… Hurricane! Aim for Loki’s doppelganger!” he called out, quickly zipping up his jacket and raising the hood to protect his head as the Dragonite let out a roar, with the Noivern following suit.
The Safeguard quickly snapped into place, before the Dragonite concentrated. At the same time, the Noivern then whipped up its wings, summoning a Tailwind to blow behind them and grant them a boost in speed.
Not too long after the Tailwind had affected his side of the field, a torrential downpour then began around the arena, before the Noivern beat its wings, summoning up a Hurricane-force column of gale winds, which then began to rip across the arena, headed right for the Sableye!
Dragonite & Noivern are out on the field! (HP: 100% for both)
Safeguard (1 / 5) Rain Dance (1 / 5) Tailwind (1 / 4)
Aerodactyl & Skarmory knocked out; Dragonite & Noivern take to the field! Dragonite uses Safeguard (1) before setting up with Rain Dance (2); while Noivern also summons a Tailwind (3) before letting loose with a Hurricane (4) (68.4 - 80.9%; 100% accuracy in rainy weather) aimed right at the Sableye!

Dragons. Why did it have to be dragons. To be fair, Dragonite and Noivern were both in the Flying-type category, but dammit. Naturally they were able to work in tandem as well, the burst of wind lifting Link straight off the ground, and into a nearby wall, knocking him out. Zane sighed as he returned the small creature to a ball, pressing it to his head, "You were great Link. Rest easy.."
Just like that, the tables turned. The two leaders had two Pokémon left, but Damian was better set for the battle now. Normally Zane would reach to Syaoran, but not today, no. Today would be different, "You got Dragons.. so do I! Fly, Bahamut!" Another ball snapped open over Zane's head, and with a mighty roar came a Hydreigon.
"Cherran, icy wind! Bahamut, take to the Dragonite with dragon pulse!" Zane was beginning to fill with confidence, reminding himself that this could work. It had to work. As the know flapped, the accelerated wind began to lower in temperature, until finally becoming solid bits of ice aimed at the opposing dragons. Behind the miniature snow storm, the Hydreigon used it's puppet-hand-head-things to create a orb of condensed draconic energy which mirrored the Hydreigon's color. With his partner's attack still going, Bahamut launched his. Surely it would hit, right?
Honchkrow uses Icy Wind [64.3-75.8% to Noivern, 52-61.9% to Derganite]
Hydreigon uses Dragon pulse on Derganite [68.7-81.7%]
