Spawning: Cavern 2 Ruins {Mission Details}
Mission details: After discovering a tunnel not far from her Ranch, Alanna has discovered that there is a network of tunnels that lie underneath them. Alanna has been mapping these tunnels on her own, in a hopes of convincing the Fossil Lab Professor that there were things worth uncovering down there. The tunnels are dark and filled with not the hopes of treasure, fossils, and maybe even ancient ruins.
The enthusiastic young woman that she is has decided that these tunnels are worth a full days attention after several treks down already. Leaving home early that morning, and leaving behind a note for her ranch hands that she would be gone all day, and they were in charge of the ranch until she had returned. She also informed them of where she would be and that she had taken only one Pokemon with her, and that was her Houndoom Rees.
Though finding herself in the Chamber she left off in the last trek she took down, continuing on from the tunnel there. A powerful wave of tectonic energy rocks the tunnels causing them to cave in. Finding herself lost, and trapped deep inside a possibly uncharted part of the Liggs mines, unable to get service on her Holowatch to contact anyone at home. She now finds herself stuck, with food running low a few empty Pokeballs, and not very much food with her. She must learn to completely overcome her fear of Rees, and learn to understand him. Perhaps if they learn to understand each other they can capture some Pokemon to help them get out of the Mines, and Back home alive.
Though deep within the mines, Alanna and Rees have found what appears to an ancient shrine.The outside is decorated in ornate golden and bronze cast flames. These flames line the arched entrance that has ornately carved Houndour and Houndoom all with heads lifted in silent howls to a rather beautifully carved orb above the door. Inside the ancient shrine to the Dark and Fire type canines. Though the shrine itself is guarded by a fearsome Rock and Ice type long thought dead. After defeating the Aurorus, Alanna and Rees find themselves inside the shrine. A small baby Amaura takes a deep liking to Alanna and decides to go home with her, after leading them into the chamber with the Houndoom statue, as well as, a Necklace for Alanna's keystone(Already acquired) and a special black leather collar with ruby gem like spikes, and a seat for a Megastone. The sun had barely risen above the horizon, and yet there was already someone awake on the Rising Stars Ranch outside of Liggs. The sky was still mostly dark and there was a soft breeze blowing that brought with it the scent of the nearby evergreens. Though the hour was early there was activity inside the large Ranch house. The light in the living room was on and with the Young Blonde owner was busily packing with an air of excitement. Today she was finally going to finish exploring the Tunnel system she had been mapping for the last several weeks. She had mapped every tunnel that to a dead end, all except one that she held a special theory about. She had food for a day and a half, clothes to change into and since it got colder the farther she had followed that tunnel the last time. Her theory was that, that there was a herd of Amaura and Aurorus living in a natural ice cave down there. She folded up her map and packed it away before walking into the kitchen. Standing at the notepad hanging on the fridge. Dear Makani & Kazuma, I have gone off to the tunnel system I found a few weeks back. You are both in charge of taking care of the Ranch while I am away. I shouldn't be gone longer than tomorrow afternoon. I'm trusting you guys to take care of the shop and the ranch while I'm gone. I'm leaving Tesla and everyone else behind. I'll be taking Rees with me though so you don't have to worry. I also have some food with me so you don't need to worry about that. I also made dinner for you guys, it's in the fridge. Makani if you have trouble with Microwave please ask Kazuma, he will help you out. And boys, please don't burn the ranch down while I'm gone. Stay safe and take care while I'm gone. Thank you both. Alanna Satisfied with her note she gave a soft smile and a nod to the note. She turned around grabbing the hiking backpack she rarely used, in exchange for her normal Messenger bag. Rees was in his Pokeball and she was ready to go. As she left the ranch it was a thirty minute walk up into a forested area of the mountains, and ten minute walk into the forest. She was following a map she drawn to the tunnel leading underground from her Ranch. As she got closer she could feel the excitement mounting as she pulled her lantern out of her bag. It was an amazing feeling to finally be doing this. Walking at brisk pace she turned on her lantern and headed down the first tunnel, and into the large main chamber. She cast her gaze about looking at the marking she had made on each tunnel entrance. Setting her backpack down she pulled out the hand drawn map of the underground tunnels. Putting her backpack back on she summoned Rees from his Pokeball. As the Houndoom appeared she recoiled slightly from him, though he lovingly nuzzled her leg. Taking a deep calming breath Alanna started down the unfinished area on her map. Rees at her side she started down the network of tunnels until she reached a point on the map where she had last left off. Looking to her Holowatch she realized that she had been walking now for almost two hours, but also that the further she went into the underground the less service she had on her Holowatch. Well not that anyone usually needed to get a hold of her and she would check it when she got out. Shrugging she lifted her lantern and cast her gaze about. Though in her peripheral vision she caught sight of Rees' eyes glowing a soft red in the darkness. This sent a nervous shiver up her spine. She had brought Rees in place of Tesla, not only to work on getting closer to him, but she couldn't really leave him with poor Makani. Rees seemed to have a grudge against the poor Alolan boy. Taking a calming breathe she began to head forward, when suddenly the ground shook for a moment, and the walls of the small chamber she stood in trembled. It was followed by a deep rumble and the sound of stone clattering together. At this sound Alanna raced out of the small chamber and back up the tunnel. She found her path blocked, by an enormous pile of stone. The dust was just settling in the now still cave. She felt her heart rate speed up and she started to breath heavily. "Okay, okay this isn't good." She spoke in a shaking voice as she raced forward tugging on the stones. She turned dropping her back pack as began tugging and clawing at the stones. The only things she managed to move were some pebbles. She dug and pulled as long as she could. Once she slid to the ground tears streaming down her cheeks. Her hands were sore and bleeding in places, as she sat on the floor sobbing. Suddenly she felt Rees' slender muzzle under her arm. She sat like that for quite some time as she cried into Rees' fur. Finally pulling herself together she looked at her hands and wiped them on her pants. A sharp inhale told of the pain that she felt from the new bruises and cuts. "Okay Ress, no place to go but the other way I guess." She sniffled wiping her face with the sleeve of her shirt as she stood up putting her backpack back on her back. The Houndoom gave a cheerful bark and a nod, agreeing that they should keep moving. It was then that turned around and head back to the small chamber she had been in, she headed out of the chamber and into what looked like a large tunnel, though the walls seemed covered in slight amounts of moisture. The walk down the tunnel had become more foreboding somehow. With her exit blocked she seemed less than enthused to be exploring now. A strange tightness in her throat, and the the hammering in her chest. She was absolutely terrified. What made things worse was she was trapped down here with limited food, water, and the only Pokemon she had with her she was terrified of. Glancing at her side she saw Rees walking along at her side, he was clearly more confident in these confines than she was. He looked up at her and she recoiled closer to the wall away from him. She couldn't help it, she may have been able to overcome her fear when he was a Houndour, but now that he had evolved she found her fear of him ever present and almost crippling. Up ahead the path in the tunnel widened into nearly twenty feet across. She stopped as up ahead she spotted the light from her lantern glimmering off what appeared to be a web up ahead. Lifting her lamp in the darkness she saw that web across the entire path, and up near the ceiling of the tunnel she saw a large arachnid like creature. Blue eyes looked down at her from the web. The Galvantula skittered down its web and into the lantern light. It was standing in a defensive position rocking back and forth. It had obviously been shaken up and irritated by the tectonic shift. Alanna glanced at Rees at her side he was already beginning to stalk forward, his head down in an aggressive manner. Looking at him she saw not a Houndoom walking forward, instead she saw her ever loyal Houndour. The one who was constantly watching over her and making sure nothing went wrong on the Ranch. Then the image disappeared and she saw the terrifying Houndoom with blood dripping from it's jaws. No, no this couldn't happen, this was Rees right? He was just trying to Protect her. Taking this opportunity the Galvantula, he had attempted to attack charging at Rees and swinging a leg angrily at Rees. At this Rees leaped to the side and ducked under the leg. The attack missing entirely. Rees glanced back at Alanna looking for direction, but instead was greeted with a terrified look from his trainer. Giving a deep growl, he vanished into the shadows reappearing behind the Galvantula. He slammed into its hind end with a Feint Attack, knocking it forward. Giving a pained cry the Galvantula turned around releasing a burst of discharged electricity. Unable to Dodge Rees let out a pained cry as the attack hit him. This snapped Alanna out of her fear induced stupor. That was still Rees and he needed her now. "Rees!" She called out in concern for her partner. The Houndoom shook its body as if trying to disperse the electric attack, then gave a steady growl. She knew that growl, he was fine the attack hurt but he was okay. "Alright Rees F... Flamethrower." The normal confidence she held in her commands were gone, there was a deep uncertainty hidden within them. Rees however held the same confidence he ever had. Opening his muzzle he released a powerful stream of flames. Being at close range the attack hit the Galvantula. Shaking as it backed away from the hot flames they also burned the web blocking the path. After the burst of flames disappeared the Galvantula gave a powerfully pained cry. As the flames seared over its body again in a burn. The Galvantula gave an even angrier cry as it raced towards Rees. "Dodge and use Flame Charge." As the uncertain command came, Rees began running directly at the Galvantula, his body becoming coated in a thick layer of flames, the two made contact. As they did Alanna watched as Rees stood his ground and the Galvantula went rolling down past its own former web. A searing fire crossed the Pokemon's body as it cried in pain from the burn. It looked as if it were wearing down rather quickly now. "Fire Fang." Alanna commanded watching Rees as he battled. It was then that the Galvantula came racing back up the tunnel and slammed its leg into Rees. Taking the hit Rees opened his jaws wide biting down on the Glavantula his fangs becoming coated in flames as he bit down. It was then that Rees released his opponent jumping clear of its reach. Taking this chance the Galvantula raced away and into a large hole in the ceiling. Turning around Rees trotted back to Alanna who was looking at him fear still clinging to her every sense. She lifted her shaking hand as Rees approached her. Slowly he slid his head under her hand, nuzzling her hand softly he gave her arm a few licks. Swallowing she looked down at the horned canine. His tail was waving like a happy Lillipup, she couldn't help the small smile she felt tugging at her the corners of her lips. She felt her fear beginning to melt away though it was still there ever present. "Okay Rees lets.. Lets keep going." She spoke with uncertainty of their future but a willingness to continue. Rees looked up at her giving a soft growl of confirmation. Taking a deep breath the pair continued on down the now widening tunnel. Click My Egg

As the pair continued down the tunnel, it opened into a massive chasm with thin paths circling it like a ring around the top. Looking to ceiling it was easy to tell that the shift of tectonic energy that had caused the earlier tunnel collapse, had done damage in here as well. Pieces of rubble had crushed towering pillars of Stalagmite that had once apparently reached up to the paths before the earthquake. Casting her eyes towards the ceiling she saw that the rubble that had crushed the Stalagmite below had in fact been large pieces of Stalactite. She looked down and across the the chasm in they now stood at. Across the chasm was another opening leading to a tunnel. Looking back down she realized just how far of a drop it was, and she swallowed the hard lump forming in her throat. The path around the rim was narrow so she would have to walk close to the wall in order to get around the rim to the other tunnel. Looking to her side at Rees she shivered slightly. She hadn't even known who he was when had walked in the kitchen door after throwing Makani. His sheer strength was part of what had her fearing Houndoom, she knew first hand what they could do. Looking away from him she took a step out onto the narrow path. As she placed her feet carefully she knocked a pebble off the path and sent it rolling down into the chasm. She couldn't help watching as the rock rolled down into the darkness. From in the remaining stalactite on the ceiling, there came a flourish of movement. Then a sudden burst of piercing sound slammed into Alanna knocking her off balance, she misstepped and slipped over the edge and into the Chasm. A terrified shriek left Alanna as she began to slide down the side of the Chasm, her lantern tumbling down ahead of her, a sudden jerk stopped her descent into the darkness. Breathing heavily and shaking, she looked up to see Rees holding onto her backpack with his jaws. He was straining to hold her weight and keep her from sliding any further. Though now in almost complete darkness all she could see were his red eyes. Though they weren't the eyes of a fearsome Houndoom, they were the worried and terrified eyes of her beloved Houndour. She could hear him growling in frustration as he tried to keep from dropping her, but even with his own immense strength holding an almost fully grown woman and a fully stocked back pack was to much even for him. Grunting with effort Rees' legs buckled and he yelped tumbling over the edge. Alanna screamed as she felt herself sliding again, Rees had tumbled over the edge and into her, she reached out grabbing him. She pulled the Pokemon in close holding him tightly to her chest, her arms wrapped around his chest she curled around him as they slid into the chasm. The pair landed hard on a pile of rocks with a heavy thud. Alanna gave a pained grunt as she rolled onto her side, looking for Rees, she found her Lantern nearby still cast some light from a place in a pile of rocks. Good thing she had bought the durable one. With a pained cry she slipped her backpack off, as she did she felt something running down her left arm. Running her finger over her shoulder, she inhaled sharply as she felt wetness, there was a rip in her jacket which she slipped off as well. She reached over grabbing her lantern as she raised it up Rees came trotting into view completely uninjured. Alanna couldn't hide the sigh of relief as she sat down the lantern and wrapped her arms around Rees' neck. "Oh Rees you tried to save me. Thank you." She breathed an air of relief washing over her, all of her fears from just moments ago of the Houndoom were completely gone. She ran her fingers through the Houndoom's short fur as he nuzzled her chest. Sniffing her shoulder he backed up. "Alanna you're hurt." She looked at him completely stunned. The last time he spoke to her, he sounded like just a normal. But now she understood him just like she did Tesla. "I.. I should be okay Rees." She assured him stroking his cheek. "Grab my backpack I should have some rolled gauze and tape in there." She instructed softly as she dropped the injured arm to her side. Rees walked carefully over the loose rubble and drug the backpack over to Alana's side. She smiled softly at him as she stroked his head. "I sorry I was scared of you Rees." She apologized to him as she dug the Gauze out of her bag and a bottle of water. Carefully she dumped some of the water onto her ripped open shoulder. Rees was standing there with the lantern in his jaws so she could see. The wound in her shoulder was larger than she thought as she groaned and pulled a rag from her bag, she dabbed at the blood and water to clean it. It was actually pretty deep. She grabbed the tape and ripped off four pieces, placing the tape on one side of the wound, she whined as she pulled the wound together in an attempt to close it a bit. Then she wrapped her shoulder and part part of her chest in the gauze then taped it heavily in place, before pulling back on her jacket as she shivered a bit. She put the gauze back in her bag, but poured some of the water in her hand and offered it to Rees. "Here you must be thirsty." She chided softly as Rees sat the lamp down and softly lapped the water from her palm. Looking up she sighed, she had skidded down a wall of the chasm. Though it had been about thirty feet she knew there was no way she was climbing back up. "There's a tunnel over on the far side of this hole that we should be able to go in." Rees explained to Alanna as she tried to lift her backpack into her lap only to yelp in pain. "Rees, I'm sorry to ask, but can you carry my bag I can't pick it up." She was glad it was dark as a light blush burned across her cheeks. Taking a deep breath she stood up and picked up the lantern from the ground and held it up looking for the tunnel Rees had talked about. She spotted it not far away from them. Though just as they had started to leave, it became obvious what had caused Alanna to fall. Swooping down from the Stalactite above, was a massive Noivern. Clearly aggravated by the invasion of it's territory and the earthquake earlier. Rees leaped forward protectively releasing a powerful aura of dark energy from his body that blasted the Noivern. He had used a Dark Pulse a move Alanna didn't know he had. The Noivern flinched in mid-flight shaking it's body. Determined to support Rees even if was injured Alanna called out a command. "Flamethrower!" Giving an angry roar for injuring his mistress, it was followed by anger fueled flames that blasted into the stunned Noivern. The flames seared across the Noivern's body, causing it to cry out. Even after the flames had passed a painful flame seared across the Noivern further injuring it. Crying out in anger the Noivern flew directly at Rees its jaws opened wide to sink its front fangs into him. "Dodge and use Fire Fang!" She called, her confidence beginning to return. Her doubt in Ress fading away to nothing. Rees responded by ducking close to the ground then leaping up just as the Noivern's wing passed above his head and opened jaws biting down on the Noivern's wing. The Noivern as it passed over cried out as flames seared painfully over it's body inflicting damage. Another set of flames seared over the Noivern that were released from Rees' closed jaws searing the bite. Before the Noivern could gain altitude and gain advantage over him. Rees let go and dropped back to the rocky terrain with a snarl. The Noivern once more swooped up, then flew around and came charging back towards Rees in aerial pattern. "Rees dodge and use Inferno!" She called in defiance, this Noivern had almost caused her and Rees to lose their lives. She wasn't going to let up until it submitted or was conquered. Running forward Rees ran in jagged pattern avoiding the Noivern's attacks. As soon as the Noivern was in close he released a massive burst of flames from his body as he gave an angry roar. The flames slammed directly into the Noivern who cried out in pain as the attack did massive damage. The Noivern was then seared by another flame, which inflicted more minor damage. The Noivern opened its jaws releasing a powerful burst of sound that slammed into Rees sending him rolling several feet. He regained his footing and snarled angrily. "Rees Hyper Beam!" She called the same fervor and anger her own Pokemon felt, he growled angrily, as he opened his jaws, releasing a powerful beam of energy from his jaws, that slammed the Noivern into the far wall, several rocks fell hitting it as it was now knocked out. Sighing heavily Alanna relaxed as Rees walked back to over to her. He looked up tiredly at her but nuzzled into her leg. He walked over picking up her backpack, as he lead the way toward the tunnel he had seen. Alanna walked behind him the lantern held up lighting their way. As they entered the tunnel a cold chill burst through the narrow tunnel. Looking at the walls you could see that the walls were glittering with condensation. Click My Egg

As Alanna and Rees slowly walked down the tunnel, the air began to grow colder. Lifting her lantern she could see that there was a layer of condensation on the tunnel walls. As the pair walked a chill ran down Alanna's spine, it was then she realized just how creepy this place was. The darkness surrounding them and the risk of the unknown. Everything seemed extremely agitated and aggressive to everything in their territory. The walls seemed to become instead of coated with a layer of frigid water, instead a thick viscous fluid seemed to roll down the walls. This image caused Alanna to step closer to Rees who gazed up at her, a look of worry in his eyes. A few paces ahead there seemed to be an off shoot tunnel. Suddenly a yawn parted Alanna's lips and she glanced at the Holowach on her wrist. it was nine PM already. She had been down here nearly fifteen hours, and hadn't even stopped but during battles. Or when she had fallen down the chasm. It was now that she realized just how tired she really was. Her legs ached, her arm and shoulder were throbbing painfully. Her back was sore and her head hurt. She gave a soft groan, as she paused mid-step closing her eyes for a moment. Rees watched Alanna's posture and how she acted. She was tired and hurting badly, he could keep going for days without getting tired, but he often forgot that his mistress, no matter how determined and willing she was. She was still just a human. Trotting wearily ahead and using his ability to see in the dark he inspected the nearby off shoot tunnel. It was low and led into a small den like cave. Giving a flick of his pointed tail Rees returned to Alanna's side, where gently licked Alanna's fingers to get her attention. Feeling Rees' rough tongue on the fingers of her injured arm, she opened her eyes and looked down at him. When she did he seemed to try and smile softly. There's a den not far up ahead. It's small and safe, you can rest there. He explained to her softly, his deep sanguine eyes holding a concern for his mistress. She looked at him wearily, unsure of if it was a good idea to stop in such a dangerous place. Though the growl from her stomach told her that she at least needed to stop and eat. Catching the worry in her eyes, Rees once more licked her fingers in an assuring manner. You can rest, I'll keep you safe I promise. He started off at slow pace keeping Alanna safely at his side as he lead her to the of shoot tunnel. It was small enough that she had to crouch just to step inside. The farther they went Alanna eventually had to crawl. Then the tunnel suddenly widened and opened into a small cozy cave. See you'll be safe here, I can guard the entrance easily. He assured his mistress softly licking her cheek. "Okay, okay. I get the point. I'll rest." She finally relented to Rees' insistent nagging and concern for her. Though it was nice to know he cared so much for her. That even though he was now a Houndoom, he was still the same Rees as he ever was. He was just larger and much stronger, he was still the same caring and protective boy he always was. Rees walked over sitting her bag next to her he gave her a weak smile. Alanna dug into her bag producing a thin quilt she had brought along, as well as a container of fruits and cheese, along with a little meat. Wrapping the blanket around her shoulders, she began munching on the container of food.n It didn't take her long to polish off the container of foods, and drink half a bottle of water. She stowed away the container, and pulled out the hand drawn map and a pencil. The lantern lighting the small cave easily, she looked at the map assessing where she was. From the tunnel she had entered in, she began drawing more lines and connecting tunnels. Then the chasm and its two tunnels with the narrow ridge path. Feeling satisfied Alanna stowed the map away and looked at her Holowatch, it was now almost ten at night, she had taken forty five minutes to eat and draw her map. The only things keeping her from breaking down, and losing hope that she would escape these tunnels. Was drawing the map, continuing her search for the ice cavern, and having Rees at her side. "R.. Rees, will you come lay down with me please?" She pleaded softly a faint hint of fear in her voice. Rees turned his head looking at Alanna over his shoulder, a slight smile on his muzzle. He stood with grace as he turned walking over to Alanna. Softly he slipped his slipped his slender muzzle and head under Alanna's arm then lay down beside her. She held him close as she used her bag as a pillow. She quickly fell into a light and not very restful sleep. It was however sleep none the less. Waking several hours later, Alanna first looked at her Holowatch for the time. It was seven in the morning. She had slept holding Rees the entire time, when she began moving he sat up watching her quietly. She groaned in pain as she slid into a sitting position. The pain in her left shoulder hadn't gone away at all, she lifted her right as she slid off the sleeve to her jacket. Inspecting the bandage she realized it needed changed and she was close to bleeding through it. Sighing she pulled out another rag and bottle of water from her bag. Pulling a knife from a small pocket on her bag she cut off the bandages and removed her jacket completely. Dropping the bandages in a pile she inspected the tape over the wound. it was coming off because she had been moving it and using it. Giving a heavy sigh she pulled a large cloth from her bag, she would have to make a sling for her arm. After cleaning the wound with the rag and water she replaced the tape closures, and re-bandaged her arm and chest. After slipping her jacket back on, Alanna fashioned a sling for her arm and put it in place. Gathering up her things and putting them away, she ate a quick bit of fruit and cheese and finished the bottle of water she had been using to clean her shoulder. No sense just sitting around wasting time. There was no going back right now so why not keep going forward, and continue with her search. Pulling a small canister of food from her bag Alanna dumped some of the Pokemon food in a double sided collapsible bowl and water in the other side for Rees. "Here you must be hungry Rees. You need to eat after those two hard battles." She spoke softly stroking him gently with her good hand. He was becoming as close to her as Tesla was. It was a truly wonderful feeling to know she had such faithful Pokemon. Watching him, Rees ate quickly as she looked him over for injuries. Pulling a potion from her bag she sprayed him down seeing a few cuts and scrapes from battles, and the tumble into the chasm. Satisfied that they would both be alright she cleaned up her mess into a pile to retrieve later. Picking up her lantern she took a deep breath and smiled wearily at Rees. She didn't want to go on, but if she didn't she knew she would just sit in the little cave and cry until she either died, or was found. Now crawling back out into the main tunnel Rees behind her carrying her bag in his jaws. They began their journey anew. Once more standing in the frigid tunnel, lantern held aloft the pair began their trek down into the ancients of the forgotten earth. After walking for about an hour the pair began to see an end to this long dull tunnel. At a great distance the tunnel began to light up, with a strange rainbow of colors shifting across the walls. These shifting rainbows came from a soft pale blue glow permeating from somewhere up ahead. Though oddly the closer Alanna and Rees came to the soft blue glow, the colder the air got. In fact the farther they moved, Alanna could see that there was no longer condensation on the walls instead it was freezing and turning into a thick layer of ice. A strange excitement began to build and burn in her chest, almost making her completely forget about the pain in her arm and shoulder. The air getting colder meant she had been right about the giant ice cavern under Liggs! With the adrenaline of excitement working its way through her body, Alanna picked up her pace as they headed towards the light, which seemed to grow brighter and colder the closer they got. Though there was deep chill in the air, the excitement burning deep in Alanna's chest was enough to keep her warm. Suddenly the pair exited from the tunnel, she was forced to shade her eyes with her good arm, Rees however shook his head. Once their vision cleared they found themselves in a frigid underground cavern. A large thick glacier had formed a ceiling above the cavern, it formed a strange icy blue sky with a single dot that she recognized as the sun. Though the cavern itself was near freezing, there was snow under her feet and a thin layer over shallow carpet of grass. The cavern itself was quite expansive, being at least the size of a small town. Looking down at her feet Alanna spotted what appeared to be a set of steps worn in the rock over time. She turned off her lantern letting it hang to her side. She had found it. She stood staring in awe at the sheer size, and environment that had been created here. Tall trees to the left seemed to nearly reach up and touch the glacier ceiling as they formed a small forest. A river snaked its way through the cavern, and out a tunnel to the right. as she let her gaze slowly shift across this magnificent landscape, a loud strange trumpeting call came from the forest. Curious Alanna and Rees began the trek towards the forest. About halfway between the tunnel and forest, a herd of at least twenty pokemon in all came trotting out of the forest. A massive sky blue and ice colored pokemon ran in the lead. He was easily ten feet tall and a mass of powerful muscle. A pair of frills ran from the crown of his head elegantly down his back, seeming to glimmer in the pale colors of a rainbow. What seemed to be crystals studded both of the Pokemon's sides and down his tail. A bright blue sapphire gem rested on his forehead. The herd crested a hill and it was clear to see that is was herd of Aurorus and Amaura. Alanna had been right, they were a male led herd of females and babies. It was amazing to see. The male in the lead stopped on a hill lifting his head high he tilted it back, giving another shrill and excited call. The herd was playing. It was then that lead male took notice of Alanna and Rees, he motioned for the herd to return to the forest as he thundered down the hill towards them. His call no longer cheerful as he approached, instead it was aggressive and warning. Giving an angry roar Rees dropped Alanna's backpack and ran forward taking a protective stance. A deep growl emanated from his throat. "Inferno Now!" She called confident in Rees' abilities. Responding to the command Rees' body began to glow a bright flame red, before he released a powerful burst of flames that slammed into the Aurorus stopping it mid stride. The Aurorus let out a pained cry as the flames engulfed its entire body, causing quite a bit of damage. Now that Rees was rested and healed he was back at full power and fighting with a deep burning spirit. The flames vanished though a secondary flame seared across the monstrous Aurorus' body causing yet more damage. The Aurorus gave an angry snort And expelled a fog icy breath, and expelled frigid air from the crystals lining its side. Alanna knew the attack, and the only way to avoid it was to be hotter than it was cold. "Rees Flame charge!" She called love and confidence ringing in her voice. Rees taking the command eagerly, he rocketed forward as he ran his body became covered in a layer of super heated flames. As he charged forward he was gradually picking up speed, the icy air around his turning to steam and creating a wall of fog around the battle area. There was the sound of a solid impact, and then the sound of a massive form stumbling. Then Rees darted from the fog and slid to a stop. Within the fog a pained cry came as the burn inflicted more damage on the Aurorus. An angry snort came from the Aurorus as he stomped the ground in a fit. From within the cloud of fog surrounding the Aurorus came a bursting wave of electricity that cleared the fog but missed Rees entirely. Standing his ground as he flanked the Aurorus who was having trouble finding him. "Feint Attack now!" She called taking advantage of the Aurorus' confusion in losing sight of Rees. Giving an angry bark Rees leaped forward his whole body slamming into the Aurorus' left hind leg, damaging its leg and causing it to stumble side ways, it let out a pained cry. Then the flames once more seared over the Aurorus' body causing yet more damage. The Aurorus limped as it panted trying to regain its footing. Looking directly at Rees the stone on its forehead began to glow with a rainbow sheen. It then released a powerful beam of aurora like energy at Rees. "Block it with Dark Pulse!" Alanna called completely confident in Rees' ability. His eyes glowed deep reed then black as he unleashed a powerful pulsating wave of dark energy that slammed into the oncoming Aurora beam. The Attacks collided exploding in a burst of dust. "Flame Charge!" Alanna commanded eagerly, Rees was truly proving his power against such a strong opponent. Using the cloud of dust as cover, Rees dug his claws into the ground for traction and in one great leap was set running. A burst of flames covered his entire body burning a deep blue, he was nearly a blur except for the shroud of flames covering his body, he slammed into the Aurorus' front shoulder. He caused it to stumble again this time dropping to its knees. Racing to the left Rees slid to a stop the flames around him gone now, his tail whipping eagerly. The attack itself having done quite a bit of damage. The attack was followed by another flame that flared across the Aurorus' body causing yet more damage. The Aurorus was struggling to get back to its feet as it turned its head, and at once released a burst of ancient energy that slammed into Rees causing him to stumble to the side. He gave an angry growl baring his razor sharp fangs. "Feint Attack!" She nearly yelled in eagerness. Ress catching the command he gave an eager grin, as he raced forward a nearly black and white blur, as he slammed into the Aurorus knocking it over onto its side. He then raced to the side taking an aggressive stance he licked his muzzle watching the Aurorus, as it gave a pained cry as his body once more flare taking damage from the burn. It was then that the Aurorus opened its mouth unleashing a banter of strange notes that rose and fell. The song of sorts had Rees backing up and howling in pain as he shook his head, then the song fell short. This seemed to be a last ditch effort to defeat Rees as the Aurorus stared at Rees panting. "Alright finish it with Hyper Beam Rees!" She called hoping to end the battle now. Though the Aurorus was beautiful it was indeed powerful and she just wanted to go find a place to rest. Receiving his command Rees shook his head one final time, then opened his jaws releasing a powerful bright beam of energy that slammed into the Aurorus knocking it out completely. Leaning down to her back pack Alanna placed the Lantern in her backpack. It was bright enough in this cavern though the sun was clearly setting outside the cavern, as the glacier ice was beginning to shine. Deep reds, golds, and orange colors were dying the icy ceiling a multitude of colors. It was truly a beautiful sight. As she stood admiring the colors Rees trotted eagerly back to her side. It's over, let's go find you somewhere to rest so we can check your shoulder. Rees spoke softly before he picked up her backpack and began to head the opposite direction of the forest where the Aurorus were. She was beginning to wonder if anyone back home other than Tesla was worried about her yet. It was way past the time she had said she would be home, and maybe Makani would notice.If not only because she wasn't there to make him dinner yet. Click My Egg

Standing there with Rees at her side and the Aurorus slowly beginning to stir, a wave of relief washed over her. She let out a heavy sigh of breath that she didn't realize she had been holding. Upon hearing Rees urge her to go find a place a to rest, she looked down at him a soft smile on her lips. She was honestly glad she had Rees here with her. If it hadn't been for him she would probably still be curled up in a ball back in that tiny cave they slept in, crying and hoping someone would find her. But Rees had been there urging her every step of the way to keep going. That even if they were stuck they still had something they had to do, even if she had been absolutely terrified of him when they had first gotten trapped. "Yeah, let's go Rees. You did a wonderful job out there." She crooned lovingly as she stroked the Houndoom's head ever so gently. In such a short time, she had lost her fear and grown to love this fearsome looking canine. He was still so warm, and loving. He was so protective and yet he was still amazingly gentle. He was so different from the Houndoom she knew back at her fathers. As the girl and her Houndoom walked towards the western wall of the cavern, Rees walked forward a couple of steps to the top of a small hill. Sitting down the backpack in his jaws, at his feet he turned his head and called back to Alanna. I can see a cave not to far off, We should be able to rest there. Hearing Rees' words she finally felt the pain and tiredness return to her muscles with an even more fierce ache than before. Looking up at Rees she nodded almost listlessly, as she trudged up the hill. She wasn't sure she had it in her to make it back to the main tunnel where it had collapsed. Slowly making her way up the hill she felt Rees at her side urging her forward with his presence. It didn't take the pair long to reach the cave. Upon entering there was the glow of fading light from the setting sun outside, it was reflecting off of something gold in color near the back of the shallow cave. As she stepped forward inside the cave her feet crunched on a thick layer of accumulated ice and snow. Suddenly there was a noise from a corner of the cave. A shuffling sound followed by a soft whine. Rees began to growl and stalk forward, but Alanna lay a gentle hand on him holding him back. His growls ceasing as he looked up at his mistress. "It's alright Rees, I don't think it will hurt us." She assured him softly as from the shadows appeared a rather large blue form with a slender neck and frills above its eyes. Maura? The blue Pokemon crooned curiously. The little stub of a tail it had gave a wag as it trotted forward showing off the bright sapphire colored crystals on its sides. Alanna stood awe struck by the sheer beauty and intelligence the little Pokemon had in its eyes. 'Well hello there little one, my names Alanna and this is Rees. Where's your mommy little one?" She asked wearily after introducing herself. The Amaura lowered its head sadly at the question. "Well would you like to come with me then?" Before she could ever get the full question out the Amaura had bound up to her and was rubbing all over her side. With a soft laugh Alanna bent down and fished a Pokeball from her bag and tapped the Amaura with it. That done and taken care of, Alanna sighed looking around. Noticing tht there was not only two small golden shaped bowls in the back spaced evenly apart in front of what appeared to be a door. There was also one in the center of the cave a few paces ahead of her. Glancing down at Rees she ha an idea. "Think you can light those with a small flamethrower? Might warm it up in here a bit." She mused softly stroking Rees' head. Setting the backpack down Rees gave a grin as he opened his mouth and released a well controlled Flamethrower at the bowls, each one instantly lighting on contact with Rees' flame. Alanna had to cover her eyes at the sudden burst of light from the three torches now lit. Once the spots cleared from her vision Alanna stood in awe, staring at a massive door. The flames from the torches danced and on the surface of what appeared to be gold and bronze flames cast going up both sides of the door where they met at the top. On the massive doors themselves where what appeared to be two Houndour and three Houndoom aligned on the door their heads lifted as if in mid-howl. Following the direction the heads pointed, there was what appeared to be a ruby the size of a soft ball set above the door and surrounded in silver. To the left of the door there was another dark tunnel. Which could be saved for later. Looking down to Rees who stood awe struck his jaws agape, she gave a soft giggle. "Come on I wanna see what's in there." She chimed ignoring her own exhaustion and pain, she approached the door laying her good hand on the door. Pushing the door open caused oil to flood into small culverts dug in the walls that were set alight by the torches. Stepping inside, the flames had come to also surround a pedestal of obsidian stone. Upon this Pedestal stood a large statue of a fearsome looking canine. With large crooked ivory horns, resting on his shoulders and back, were what appeared to be massive bone armor, a long forked tail curved up behind the statue, the main body of the creature was black while its face and belly were a tan color, around its forelegs, were s set of two partial cuffs. Menacing ivory fangs protruded from the creatures mouth. In front of the statue rested a pedestal with an ivory pillow. Upon it sat a collar made of red leather with what appeared to be ruby spikes. In the center piece of the collar rested a stone of shifting stone of deep pink, with a royal blue and orange twisting form in the middle. Beside it rested a necklace of black leather with what appeared to be a heart made of silver. On the pedestal holding the items was a dust covered plaque. Stepping forward fueled by sheer curiosity, she brushed the dust from the plaque. "To thou who knowest the ways of the Dark Fire canine. Take these gifts and gain the knowledge of MegaEvolution. A keystone necklace for thine trainer and a collar for the closest companion." So that's what those were for, the stones she had found were for megaEvolution. Not that she knew how to use them, but at the very least she knew what the were for. Striking her like a ton of brick she smiled digging into her pocket. This must be a keystone. She thought turning the stone she had found with the double helix over in her hand. She placed the stone in the indented center of the necklace and picked it up. She shook the dust off and smiled wiping it on her shirt. This was awesome, now she just had to learn about mega evolving and maybe then she could get close enough to Rees to have him mega evolve. Picking up the collar she wiped off the bit of dust on it as well, then smiled at Rees. "Looks like it's time we start researching MegaEvolution, huh Rees?" She asked him absentmindedly as they walked back to her bag where stowed away the necklace and collar, and pulled out her lantern, as she looked at the dark tunnel. It appeared to be on an upward slope. That meant a good chance of getting out. With that Rees picked up her backpack and the pair started off down the dark tunnel. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sun had risen several hours ago, and yet still there was no sign of Alanna's return. It had been two days since she had said she would be home now. Several of the Pokemon from the Rising Stars Ranch had taken up to sleeping at the end of the drive way in hopes of spotting her return. Among them was Tesla the mechanistic Luxray, Sanda the Pikachu perched on his head keeping a vigilant eye for their trainer. These two were pacing about ten yards away from the drive. An Arcanine sat watching to the east under the sign, keeping an in that direction, while a Kangaskhan stood watching to the west. It was strange for any passerby to see this menagerie of Pokemon in one place. Though to any passerby the lot of them would appear to be keeping a vigilant eye for something. Click My Egg

Rising Stars Inc. It almost felt a shame to move on, especially since she made a couple of new friends, but with the Festival over, not ready for one gym, and the other Gym Leader busy, it felt like a good time to move on. Still, Emily had to check up on her newest friend! She was a breeder, apparently, and an assistant for Professor Morgause! Her thoughts briefly drifted away from the wondering of what Alanna’s ranch was like to thoughts about her new Professor friend. Her eyes looked down to the device now attached to the hip of her pants. It didn’t look too different from a tape measure, heck, it didn’t even work differently. It looked a bit bigger, though, and had a decorative purple casing, not to mention held a massive and powerful secret inside. What the Professor wanted as payment was a little weird, but everyone was happy, so who could complain? She looked back up as she continued walking, idly rubbing her nearly-eternally-out Pikachu on the head, sitting on her shoulder as usual. She smiled as she finally saw the sign of the ranch that Alanna told her about. “There it is, Pikachu!” Emily looked brightly up at the sign, reading the words ‘Rising Star Ranch’ out loud. “Pika Pika!” Emily looked at Pikachu as he cried out and pointed, her eyes widening slightly when she saw no less than five Pokémon sitting just under the sign. She smiled warmly, jogging up to them and waving at them. “Wow! You’re all such cool and pretty Pokémon! Are you all Alanna’s?!” There’s Trouble She got a couple of confused faces, but a Pikachu among them recognized her, running up to her and yelling at her. Emily flinched back, surprised by the sudden and very constant stream of words by the Pokémon. As she went, Emily actually started to feel an emotion that she didn’t too often: worry. She knew the language of Pikachu; she was a little different than her own, but she could hear the concern and the desperation from the female one. She couldn’t hear the Pokémon in English, but the way she talked… something was wrong… with Alanna! “WHAT?!” Pikachu let out a cry of surprise in the exact same tone she did, and Emily reached down, swiping the female Pikachu up to stare at her directly in the eye. “Sandy… Sandra… Sanda! Sanda! Ya gotta tell me where she is!” Sanda, surprised by the sudden lift up, just yelled in response. “Ya don’t know!?” Emily bit her lip nervously, whirling around a little bit as she hugged the second Pikachu into her chest. She looked around, taking a quick stock of the Pokémon around her. She couldn’t recognize the black Pokémon… Kangaskhan, she recognized, but it wouldn’t be too helpful. But, an Arcanine! She recognized that Pokémon! She smiled in relief, running up to the giant dog Pokémon. “Arcanine! I need you to sniff out her trail! You can totally do it! Her scent’s all around here, right?!” Arcanine was quickly convinced, leading Emily through most of the ranch, several Pokémon following her and the Fire-type. Emily was admittedly nervous; she wasn’t sure how she could be in trouble, but to worry her Pokémon… something bad happened, that was for sure. She was jogging, even running, as much as she needed to to keep up with the Arcanine, both Pikachu ended up sitting on her shoulder, until, after what felt like hours of sniffing and following, the giant dog barked and pointed its muzzle at a cliff wall. Emily stared blankly for a moment. It definitely looked like there was some cave in or something, but that honestly made her worry a little more. “You sure, Arcanine?” The Pokémon nodded in reply and Emily adjusted her hat, putting on a serious look as she shrugged both Pokémon off her shoulders, pulling a Poké Ball and tossing it up. “Make room, everybody!” A couple of Pokémon jumped out of the way, just quick enough for a massive Steelix to form from the ubiquitous white energy, who immediately looked down at Emily as she pointed at the wall. “Dig out a hole quick, Steelix, we’re on a rescue mission!” With a soft roar, Steelix twisted and spun his individual parts, slamming his face and easily bursting through the hole. Running in after, Emily looked around, cupped her hands, and yelled at the top of her voice. “ALANNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”

Alanna and Rees had been walking for awhile when the upward sloping tunnel gave sudden and sharp turn. Holding the lantern out in front of her, the pair found themselves in the chasm of crushed Stalagmite. This time being extra careful Alanna, and Rees cast their gazes about carefully looking to see if the Noivern was still here. In fact it was up in the Stalactite asleep. Alanna put her finger to her lips to signal Rees to move quietly, who gave a nod of his head. Stepping out onto the tiny ledge that now served as a path. Taking a lesson from her earlier mishap or was it the day before? She couldn't honestly tell with how long she had been in the cave. She pressed her back against the cold stone wall and slowly made her way around the edge of the chasm Rees as close to the wall as he could get beside her, her backpack still firmly in his jaws. Making her way towards the tunnel they had walked through earlier. Looking up from her feet Alanna glanced at the Noivern still sleeping above them, at just that moment her foot slipped from a rather narrow part of the path. She struggled for a moment unable to gain her footing, then found herself back on the ledge shaking as she was once more steady. Taking a deep calming breath as she heard the rocks she had knocked off clattering down the into the chasm. Nervously she glanced at the Noivern. Releasing a breath she hadn't realized she had been holding as she continued along the ledge and into the tunnel where she had stopped to rest with Rees. Breathing softly as she calmed herself, she glanced down at Rees now making his way in behind her. This time it didn't take long as to reach the large main cavern where the exit tunnel was. She sighed softly knowing she was still trapped. Suddenly there was a loud commotion from the main tunnel. It sounded as if rocks were being moved or more were falling. She felt her chest tighten in fear. No, no not more of a collapse, please don't let it be worse. She silently begged as she felt Rees press his chest against her leg. Then as the commotion ahead fell into silence, she heard a familiar voice calling down the tunnel. Was it real? Was she free? Looking down at Rees Alanna took off at a dead run Rees running at swift pace at her side. As she came up the main tunnel she dropped her lantern not caring as she charged ahead Rees at her side. It didn't take her long to find the source. It was Emily! A wave of relief washed over the dirt and blood covered young blond. Her left arm in a make-shift sling, the left side of her jacket ripped and stained with blood. As she got Emily she felt her legs buckle beneath her as tears began to cut paths through the dirt on her cheeks. She was sobbing uncontrollably, with the wave of relief that washed over her. It didn't take long for Sanda and Tesla to run forward to inspect and comfort the young blonde. The Pure black Luxray pressing his head into her cheek as the Pikachu leaped onto her good shoulder hugging the blondes face. She lifted her good hand stroking one and then the other as she stood up slowly she leaned tiredly on the Luxray who was now standing directly at her side as Rees bound out of the cave leaving Alanna in Emily and Tesla's care. Finally calming herself enough to speak, Alanna lifted her good hand wiping away the tears and dirt with her free hand. "H.. How did you find me?" She asked as she looked around at the Pokemon gathering around the tunnel entrance. It was Pupper along with Sand and Tesla. But that didn't explain how they had found her. She hadn't left a map on how to find her. Her golden eyes locked on Emily. Had her Pokemon led Emily to her? "I'm so glad you're all here. I thought no one would find me." She sniffled softly rubbing her left shoulder slightly, it was clear that Alanna was injured and needed a bath badly. Click My Egg

Determination, heroism, bravery... these things coursed through Emily as she looked around the cave, Pikachu and other Pokémon joining her. Worry and concern were there, too, but she actively pushed them down, focusing more on her duty. She pulled her hat off, lessening the darkness blocking her vision, turning and then gasping in horror when Alanna came into view. Beaten, bloody, dirty… she looked horrible, and instantly, the hero side of her vanished. Fear and confusion replaced it even as she ran up to her with all the other Pokémon. Arceus, it was Yumi all over again, but even worse! She was okay; she was in the hospital, but she looked fine. Alanna… she looked like she went through everything! She ran up to her, gingerly reached out to her, but almost immediately pulling her hands back, wincing in fear. She had the very strong feeling that she shouldn’t touch Alanna, and didn’t know how she would even if she should. Emily whined softly, reaching for her once or twice to try to help, but thankfully, one of Alanna’s Pokémon took care of it for her, letting Emily bite her lip nervously and just awkwardly shuffle out of the way. “I was comin’ to visit ya.. And… and… Arcanine… for… forget that for now.” Still grimacing, unable to really take in Alanna’s injuries, and yet, also unable to look away. “Let’s get you back home… I’ll call an ambulance or something…. C-Come on, let’s get you somewhere safe…”Slowly and tenderly, Emily walked Alanna towards the opening, back to her home.

Relief, Anticipation, and gratefulness. These things were swirling inside Alanna as she heard the commotion, and voices. The joy welling up in her was almost to much as tears began to well up and over flow as she caught the welcome sights ahead over her. As her Pokemon greeted her licking dirt from her face as they inspected bruises, and her wounded shoulder. Sanda carefully inspecting the minor bandaging on her shoulder, with a tender little paw. The concern on the Pokemon's faces was clear as the Pikachu pulled a blood covered paw away from the bandages. She looked up at Emily tears budding in her little black eyes. Leaning on the Luxray Alanna stood up, but rested her good arm around Emily's shoulders. A soft happy smile rested on her pale lips. As Emily began to explain how she had found her then stopped, she couldn't help the small giggle that shook her chest and shoulders. This resulted in a soft groan but a determined smile as she walked beside the Brunette. Though she stopped dead at the mention of an ambulance. That meant going to a hospital, she couldn't do that. They would alert her father of the incident, and then he would come and make her go home. Her dull yellow eyes gazed at Tesla and her Pokemon for a moment as they began to gather with concern. "C.. Can we just call a doctor to come to my house..." She paused looking at her filthy and tattered white boots, as she just stood there for a moment shame clear on her face. "I can't really go to the Hospital. It would mean they would call my father in Unova." She spoke softly her voice almost cracking, as she lifted her good arm rubbing her bad arm thoughtlessly. It didn't take them long to reach her home once they were walking again. She quickly got settled on the couch with a pained wince, and a deep groan. Click My Egg
