Frozen DivingThe late afternoon may have been quite light any other time of the ear, but the days were short in winter. But Aurora didn’t notice that the world was turning gold; she was underwater, far underwater in fact. She had felt like swimming for no particular reason, and with no pressing matters to attend to, she decided to follow her urge – and she ended up bringing just about every Pokémon that had swimming as primary skills in the wild with her, just to make sure that their skills were up to snuff. In the end, they ended up playing more than anything, and let off to do their own thing. This was, in part, some alone time for Aurora, and she recharged best when she was alone. The Aleal sea might have been oppressively cold, pretty dark – at least compared to somewhere like Caravella – but it was just as beautiful to her, if not moreso. She had herself some flippers and breathing gills, and very comfortable with her ice suit. The floor of the harbor was just as beautiful as she imagined; sand, stones, a few Pokémon; the only things she didn’t like were the... discarded remnants of human activity, so to speak. There wasn’t much of it, though, thankfully, and she had one of her Pokémon help with that anyway. She swam, smiled, enjoyed the scenery, and cleaned it up a little bit; all in all, it was a beautiful day in beautiful water, meeting some wild Pokémon – most of which admittedly just ran away – and her own Pokémon having some fun times in their natural element. Eventually, though, her Dewgong nudged her, silently telling her that it was time to go home. She frowned, but her Pokémon was probably right, nodding and pushing off of the sea floor, breaking the surface of the sea air and pulling off her gills. She blinked as a boat puttering gently in front of her, staring up at it before seeing the owner, smiling and waving at her. "Hey! Welcome to Aleal!"Shaun Underwood

Having set off early in the morning it was stilly pretty much a full day getting from one side of the region to the other, especially at this time of the year. With Ruck his wingull and Sharpedo keeping him company he thought he did pretty alright staving off the boredom though, keeping the boat moving till they made it to Aleal, and his latest haul of fish and scrap kept either on ice or stored below deck respectively. He expected to probably make a few good bucks on the scrap since, unlike Pahalla, while scrap wasn't AS needed up in Aleal, the trade in it was probably far less common so he wouldn't have to compete for a good price while he was in town. As for the fish, there were some you could only get the south end of the island, and Sinclair wouldn't be dropping off any fish for another half week so now was as good a time as any to sell.
What Shaun hadn't expected when coming to Aleal was to see someone swimming...this fucking time of year? Seriously? As he pulled into the dock himself, the boat slowing to a crawl, he delayed tying the girl down to rush to the back of the boat, putting a foot on the edge and leaning over the water, eyes narrowing as he took in the swimmer.
"Hun you got a death wish swimming this time o' year!?" He sounded stunned but honestly he was just a tad worried for them...wait..."...Hey do I know you? Ya look familiar."

Aurora blinked softly at the sudden yelling, stopping mid-wave and looking at the yeller in confusion. Then she smiled, realizing why they were so upset, and unable to resist giggling a bit. “Ahahaha, first time in Aleal?” She put an arm around her Dewgong, letting her move her closer to the dock, climbing up it before collapsing, letting out a long, deep, and content sigh. For a moment, she didn’t answer, just needing a few moments to relax, but she sat up, scratching her cheek softly as she looked at the sailor. “Sorry.” Aurora pushed herself up, pulling some bits of things off of her bodysuit, standing up in full and giving the boat driver an Aleal greeting, holding her hand against her heart before waving it in their direction. “I’m Aurora Halloran, one of the local Gym Leaders. Sorry for startling you, but there’s no need to worry about me, I have this incredible suit to protect me!” To emphasize, she gently pinched the fabric at her hip, pulling it before letting it snap back. “I’ve been swimming for quite a few hours, and I’m barely chilly at all!”

"Well I'm no local but it's certainly not my first time..." Feeling slightly bitchy at the almost belittling response, Shaun moved himself towards the edge of the boat, wrapping a good length of rope around his arm as it crawled to a halt beside the deck, eyes briefly washing up and down the rather tightly clad gym leader, who would in fact announce herself as such. A gym leader out swimming in freezing waters this time of year. Yeah it may not have been his first time in Aleal, but it was his first time seeing that shit.
"Hun if that thing keeps you from freezing your ass off in these waters its impressive for at least two reasons." He'd smirk cheekily rather than reveal the second reason, kicking off the edge of his boat, Ruck flying off of his head and perching atop the control room as Shaun started tying the ship up against the dock, just a bit of light restraint to make sure the rustbucket didn't float away while he wasn't looking. A light tug to make sure it was tight enough, and with hands on his hips Shaun gave the lass his full attention.
"Gotta ask, that some sorta wetsuit. I mean, sure looks it, but I've got a fairly expensive one myself and I wouldn't dare go diving this time o' year." He stepped forward with a light stagger to his motion as he realized he was being a little rude, offering his hand. "Oh er, Shaun, by the way. Just in town to trade."

Aurora smiled nervously at the person’s curt response. She had meant it in a sort of teasing manner, but she guessed they might have taken it a little harsher than she intended. “Aha... sorry to be rude. Forget sometimes that things we do here aren’t normal elsewhere. It would be a shock for people to see me swimming in these waters.” She bowed her head apologetically, letting her good mood bubble up. “We just like to swim is all, even in cold waters. Quite invigorating, even if it can’t be done for lo-.” She paused, accidentally interrupted by the visitor, and blush, blinking in surprise. She couldn’t help but feel a little exposed all of a sudden. She moved her hands behind her, gently locking her fingers to subtly hide her... assets, even if they were away from the sailor. Aurora smiled nervously and thankfully at the change of topic, reaching forward to daintily shake Shaun’s hand. “It might look like one, but this is a League-designed ice suit. It keeps me comfortable no matter how cold it gets. I can be frozen or be caught in a blizzard and I’ll be okay! Mostly, at least. It’s amazing and I love it!” She tilted her head, and with a smile as warm as any fireplace, welcomed Shaun. “Welcome to Aleal, Shaun. Do you need help with anything?”

Noticing the light blush, Shaun briefly wondered just how easy it might be to fluster the girl, but throwing the excess rope back onto the boat he decided it might not be best to try his luck with a gym leader of a city he kinda relied on for money. Didn't wanna risk offended the publics reprasantetive in the area by flirting a little too hard now did he? Nah, best to leave it. Ruck was resting on the edge of the boat while the 'gloved' hands of a poliwhirl pulled it over the edge to take a peak at what was going on, Shaun giving them both a brief smile before turning back to the gym leader.
"Sounds like a fancy bit of tech ya got there...wasn't er..." He tapped the side of his head, trying to get the memory going. "Fuckin'...blonde gal. Lives in a cave.League made her gauntlet or some shit i think. This like that?" Of course his memory wasn't too clear despite the fact he thought the chick had a cool thing goin' for her. Shame she lost that arm. "Either way, seems like the league covers you guys pretty well. As for help..."
His eyes drifted to the loose scrap he'd left on the dock, and the metal coolers full of fish from down in Pahalla.
"...Unless you wanna smell like fish I think I'm good..."

Aurora was distracted by the Pokémon on Shaun’s boat, smiling and waving at the almost stereotypical sailing Pokémon as their owner struggled but eventually managed to find the words they wanted to use. “Yeah, same type of deal. Gym Leaders can get access to some pretty cool stuff on account we work for the League.” For a moment, Aurora frowned, saddened by the reminder that said Gym Leader had recently lost a limb. She didn’t know much more about it, though; she had heard it through the news, rather than some League communicade or something. Regardless, she sent the girl something nice, a few hand-picked berries and a get well card. The Aleal Gym Leader was brought back by Shaun speaking again, and Aurora couldn’t help but giggle a little. “I live in a city that gets most of its income from a strong fish and meat industry. A lot of people around here smell like fish a lot, at least around the docks. In fact,” she paused, sniffing at herself slightly, “I might already smell a bit like fish, considering I’ve been swimming for a while...” After a few sniffs, she shrugged with a smile. If she did smell like fish, she couldn’t tell; she was far too used to it.

Shaun caught Aurora's shifting eyes, smirking up at his own poliwhirl, the small pokemon realizing he'd gotten some attention and dropping behind the edge of the boat out of sight as he got nervous, Ruck giving the ball pokemon an odd look, but just ruffling his feathers to get comfy, oblivious to the poliwhirl's shyness as it brought a light chuckle from Shaun himself. "Ah yeah? Any of you gym leaders get other cool shit? I'd probably ask for a free car or something. I'm sure I could argue I needed it somehow." He smirked wide as he rested his hands on his hips. As much time as he spent on his boat a car sounded nice. Though... "A boat could work too...she's an old beaut but she's got her issues."
At the mention of everyone smelling like fish, Shaun couldn't help but chuckle and roll his eyes. "Hey if you say so...I got some people coming by for the order later so I just gotta leave some boxes on the dock..." He glanced back up to the boat, thinking for a moment before climbing back aboard, easing one of the crates to the edge of the boat, it looked sizeable but nothing overly heavy. "Say, if I pass it down, you fancy laying it down for me? I could drop them but I wouldn't wanna damage the dock."

Aurora blinked softly at Shaun’s musings, mainly the mention of a car. She couldn’t imagine why someone other than a business would need a car much, not when you can just walk anywhere you wanted, much less a Gym Leader, who tended to stay in the city. Maybe a Grass-type specialist that went through the forest a lot? Or maybe, a desert Gym Leader that went into the desert a lot... though, personally, she could never imagine getting anywhere close to a desert. But then, she could barely understand why people liked to live in Caravella – she couldn’t stand the heat. She smiled when Shaun shifted to a new boat, though; she barely knew them, but that felt like it fit them more. “Yeah, they would easily be able to get someone a new boat. You can just buy those, after all. A League-issued boat might have some features most others don’t, though.” She smiled and stood around as Shaun thought about their business, then got onto their boat. She stood more readily when they inched a crate onto the edge, stretching her arms a bit before nodding up at them. “No problem, Shaunie~!” She yelled up with a smile, getting her hand over the box before lifting it up, let6ting out a slight pained squeak when she did. It was heavier than she expected – apparently, this sailor made a GOOD living off of fish, and she wasn’t the strongest person, either. Still, she was fit; she wasn’t impressively strong, but she could lift a little, and while the box was something of a strain, she handled it fine, groaning a bit but setting it down with no problem, giving Shaun a smile when she did, awaiting as many as she wanted to give.
