WINTER IS HERE!
[attr="class","likedoinfo"]
Happy Winter Solstice and happy multitude of holidays to all!
Apologies for the wait, but SG has finally managed to put some of Yumi's sketches to use, so congratulations to Sophie, Josh, Izumi, and Amor! (Click to view full size!)
Honorable mentions go to Wisteria, Jada, and Luke! The vast array of Pokemon dressed as Eeveelutions was such a cute image in my head, and the contrast between Jada's quality costume and her Salandit's cardboard beak parrot costume was so amusing.
(In full disclosure, all were originally going to be in the winner's circle, but Wisteria was archived right after and Jada's player seems to have vanished.(I may belatedly still do something if she comes back, though.) Luke's "ceiling fan" pun actually tied Sophie for first in my heart but I do art for Jay all the time and would rather work on her Christmas present tbh; don't worry she knows this.)
There were loads of wonderful varied entries, though, and thanks to everyone for participating!
It's Christmas time, and as Santa's helpers finish up their year of work, they seem to be downright swarming Veria! What? Oh, no there's no Delibird "Swarm"- they're much too spread out for that! It seems the big guy has released most of his helpers as thanks for their efforts, and after the holidays will begin his yearly tradition of gathering a new batch of helpers to take their turn in this important Delibird tradition!
A number of his dedicated remaining veterans have gathered over here, eager to make sure everyone in Veria gets some sort of present! They may look swarm-y, but make no mistake-- these Delibird already have a trainer. Go talk to them and they'll gladly give you some presents, though!
That said, there are many wandering about, now free and finishing the last of their deliveries. Some might even be looking for new homes once they're done! From now through the end of January, whenever you do a Catch, Training, or Treasure thread, you have a 25% chance of spawning a special Delibird carrying a nice item! (Limit 1 Delibird per thread, so they won't spam you.)
These Delibird will be spawned in addition to your other spawns, not in place of them, but can be battled in catch or training threads and caught in catch threads like normal spawns. Due to their sudden overabundance, they will not count against your spawn limit or your catch limit! That said, if you choose not to catch or battle, or they appear in treasure threads, you may either interact with them in other ways (having a friendly chat, having them show up to throw an item at you and immediately flee, having them sneak a gift into your trainer's bag without their noticing, etc) or ignore their presence IC and just take their presents OOC.Get it? Presence? Presents? Eh?
You've got over a month to run into them, so get out there and have fun!
(FYI: If you'd like a better idea what to expect, both events have buttons in the Misc section of the spawn generator! :D)
While we, the Staff, are busy keeping the place in order, there are also other things that happen in the background; certain changes that subtly take place; but are also made aware for everyone to be kept "in the know".
The Patch Notes contain not just the major updates that you, dear member, can read about here in the main announcement; there are also changes that take place in the background; but are also important enough, such as updates to existing rules in the Guidebook; as well as price changes in the PokéMart.
Make sure to check the Patch Notes out every now and then, as this is constantly being updated!
Happy Winter Solstice and happy multitude of holidays to all!

Rapid-Fire Notes
- After much delibirdation-- whoops I mean deliberation-- we have decided to lower the word count needed for an extra evo point on single spawns to 350 words. Double battles (via swarms or double spawns, etc) still require 500, as they give you inherently more to work with.
- As many of you already know, we have a new item in the form of the Catch Ticket. This lets you exceed the 12 catches per month limit by a bit, for a small fee! The fee helps ensure no one will just spam catches as they'll have to do other stuff too to afford both the ticket and balls, but as counter balance to help make sure wealthier members can't be effectively limitless, ticket redemptions are also limited to 2 per month (up to double the amount of catches you get for free).
- Most of you have probably noticed, but we now have a fancy notification system that tells you when you've received gifts or donations, or your gifts or donations have been accepted! (Sometimes an accepted message seems to repeat itself and we're not sure why, but it doesn't seem to negatively impact anything.)
- Treasure mun items have been thinned out a little(*), have had the value of several remaining items increased, and have been converted into inventory items. From now on, when you claim a mun item, instead of a staff member manually editing the money you will be gifted the item, which can then be sold to the shop through your inventory by clicking it and clicking Refund. This way, mods don't have to do math, don't risk messing up said math, and it's a little easier to confirm when the system glitches since we get notifications when gifts are accepted, but not for manual mun editing. Additionally, if a mod notices you rolled 4 mun items, we may go ahead and send you the most expensive one to save you a summon (but just summon as usual if we forget, ofc)~
On the note of refunding items, all items now sell back to the shop for 100% instead of 50% of their shop price. This means all those evo items you keep finding in treasure threads and not having an immediate use for are worth 50 mun instead of 25 now!
(* - The thinning was to make less items to keep up with and avoid some redundancy with the way the treasure system works now. One note in particular is that big and small mushrooms were removed to avoid confusion with breeding mushrooms.) - The Rare Voucher and Catch Ticket have also been added to the Valuable Items treasure pool (the one with most mun items and a few breeding shop items).
- Finally, we have a new Feedback Thread in the hopes of encouraging more members to offer their thoughts on various updates, however big or small those may be!
