SINCLAIR CITY
[Old Information]
Introduction & History 'The Traveling Tourist Trap', Sinclair City is literally a giant train. Made of five huge cars that have their own unique properties, it hosts an array of housing and shopping options. Always on the move and stabilized by the latest tech, it generally takes just over one week for Sinclair to hit every other city in Veria, although sometimes certain events might delay the trek. Sinclair's travel schedule can always be found online and on a free mobile app. Funded by a rich businessman hoping to connect the Veria region in a new and impressive way and bring new income by means of tourists, Sinclair initially connected only the most major Verian cities of the time. Later, the train and tracks would both be expanded as it grew to connect other budding cities and built a strong trading economy. Since its initial founding, Sinclair has nearly doubled in size and become a proper city in its own right. It is still growing today, with its newest car-- 5th made, 4th from the front in the new line-up-- having been added over the holiday season of 2017. |
Population & Culture Newcomers often get on the train for a quick and easy ride to the various towns and cities across the Veria region. Sinclair’s boarding is free. Some people, however, spend their entire lives on the train with the broad appeal of being in a different place almost every day. The train has a strong community deeply rooted in engineering, mechanics, and mercantilism. Looking for a master craftsman? Look no further! Looking for an interesting item? Someone’s got to have it here somewhere! Master tradesmen know how to work the system of buying and selling goods throughout the region. Shops always have some of the latest tech and merchandise. That said, being a massive mobile city leaves Sinclair open to a lot of unnoticed shady transactions. It can further criminals as much as it can genuine patrons, and the sheer numbers of persons coming and going makes it hard to control. |
City Structure Sinclair is composed of five main cars: the "luxury" car, the "business" compartment, the "residential" car, the "cold"/"downtown" car, and the storage car. The train averages 10 floors, with the first three each being four stories high and the others being three stories; it is just as impressive in width. The lowest floor of every car is primarily used for travel and transport, although some homes and businesses can be found there. As the lower floors are most stable, cabs, personal vehicles, and all manner of ride Pokemon are fine; but on the upper levels, foot travel, bicycles, lighter Pokemon such as Gogoat (available for rental!), and a number of trolleys for public transport are largely required, with fairly rare exceptions to maintain stability. -The luxury car is reminiscent of a cruise liner with upscale and expensive entertainment, broad and spacious living conditions, and all the amenities anyone could ask for. Many wealthy residents make their homes here, and many simply traveling may choose to do so in style in this car. Some commerce and public service exists, but is largely overshadowed by the luxurious elements. -The second car often compared to a giant shopping mall, with a wide array of shops, restaurants, and less expensive forms entertainment. Everything from your department store to the strange voodoo shop in the back there can be found if you look hard enough. There are a few errant apartments, but most people who live on this car live in their businesses. -The third car is mostly a housing car with cheaper apartments and inns that are less luxurious but still reasonably well maintained. Inns and hotels offer a fair price so long as you don’t mind getting five channels on your TV and no room service, or for the especially thrifty traveler little more than a bed in a box. Fast food and a small degree of cheap entertainment can be found scattered about. -The fourth car is known as the "cold" car, refrigerated year-round to stay much cooler than the other cars. Frozen goods are stored in the bottom floors of this car separately from other cargo, and a few skating rinks can be found. Housing here is more upscale than the third car but quieter than the tourist-heavy first car. There are numerous public service buildings such as a courthouse, records keeping, and even the DMV, as the cool temperature is best for storing legal documents safely. It isn't uncommon to see Pokemon here you'd normally only find around Aleal! -The fifth car holds goods and supplies that travel the region. There are a few wayward shops dispersed here, primarily to serve the workers who transport goods in and out of Sinclair throughout the day during business hours, but a good amount of it is simply storage lockers and large cargo holds. -The rooftops are covered in a massive, 2-story high greenhouse that contains numerous gardens and greenery. You can find lovely flower gardens, wide open parks, and even a few hedge mazes free for public viewing year-round, as well as some privately owned gardens and a significant amount of the city's food supply. Sinclair’s tracks and the train itself are raised several meters above the ground allowing people and Pokemon to pass under it without harm. |
Points of Interest The Sinclair City Steel Gym can be found in a relatively simple yet large building where it is managed by Akira Mikan. The Sinclair City Dragon Gym can be found atop a large casino that spans multiple train floors, and is managed by Asche Sinclair. The Sinclair City Grass Gym can be found on the rooftop gardens where it is managed by Kiran Chandra. The Indigo Lab can be found on one of the lower floors of Sinclair’s second car where it is managed by Luke Indigo. New trainers are encouraged to come get medicine at reduced prices. |
