The rush of sand and the smell of the sea greeted Haiiro’s senses the moment he got off the plane and into Gateon port. It had been entirely too long since he had been in the Orre region, or so Haiiro was just now realizing. Dark blue eyes closed, and for a moment, he stretched both arms backwards, just feeling the subtle shift in the cool air as it blew passed. Winter was always the best time of year in the region. He had missed it.
Alongside Haiiro, Shadow padded along, looking around slowly. It felt so strange to be here after so long. She’d almost forgotten such a place. However, there was something homely about it… exciting even. A slow trill escaped from her, and a shake of fur was given. Yeah, this would be good.
After a moment of just taking it in, Haiiro allowed his attention to sweep backwards towards Elayne. Fishing out his pen and paper, he scratched out some words before holding it up. Welcome to Gateon. It was not the Agate Village where the wedding would be taking place, but that was easy passage and through a lusher space than the rest of the harsh sandy Orre. Maybe, though, they could down to Phenac for a bit after, and he could show her the huge Colosseum— among other things.

Elayne was slower getting off the plane than Haiiro was. Having slept on the plane most of the way, her head was still mostly in a fog and that was making it harder to get motivated to get up or even keep up with Haiiro. It didn't take long to grab the bags, Elayne had made sure to pack light after all, but it was still a bit difficult to wake up. The feeling of the warm air upon exiting the plane had Elayne sighing quietly. As beautiful as Veria was, it was still pretty cold right now but this... this was nice, really nice. Stretching a bit, Elayne shifted the bags and yawned. Mmm, why was it still so hard to wake up? Rubbing her eyes, Elayne looked around to see where Haiiro had gone. It couldn't be far, right? Oh wow, the port city was beautiful wasn't it. Eyes bright with excitement, Elayne was soon lost in taking in her surroundings. Soon enough, she'd caught up with Haiiro (mostly thanks to Elly stopping her from going too far) but still almost missed the note he held for her. Orange eyes dropped to read the note, taking entirely too long to register the message. Oh, right. Gateon was the port city huh? "It's so beautiful..." So this was where Haiiro had grown up? Taking Haiiro's hand in hers, Elayne smiled brightly. They were there for the wedding, sure, but as far as she knew they didn't have to be there right away. "What do you want to do first?" Maybe get some food first or coffee. Coffee would be good, yeah.

Some vague part of Haiiro was aware that Elayne was moving a little slowly. Some part of him knew it was in part due to their surroundings. However, he could not fully process these thoughts with still others, much more pressing ones, strung out all over his mind. Blue eyes raised and flickered around to the numerous old buildings he recognized and the smaller but still prominent ones he did not. They had a couple days before the wedding was actually scheduled, but he did want to get to Agate within the next day or two.
….But he would like to show her Gateon, honestly. And probably get food and some rest too, maybe. A small smile came and went from his features, and rather than explain right then, he started walking, gently tugging and beckoning her down the street. Coming up first to a local bookstore he knew, Haiiro made a small gesture to it before continuing on. There was a restaurant he remembered and was it right- yeah, it was. Making an index finger point, he gestured to the sign reading "The Krabby Palace" something of an upgrade from the last time he'd been there, heh. But it did have some of the best seafood around.
Stepping in, they would be seated pretty quickly and given the menu. The lunch special actually consisted of shrimp scampi. How long had it been since he'd eaten it here? Probably back before words had started to fail him. Heh.

Seeing the smile on Haiiro's features elicited a smile of her own. From what little Elayne had seen of Gateon so far, it looked really nice. The bookstore especially had her eyes lighting up and would make a mental note of where it had been before continuing onward. There was time later but food sounded quite a bit better right then and there. Hmm? Oh, they were going to The Krabby Palace huh. That looked really good or at least the smell coming from it was enough to make her mouth water. Wow, the service was certainly quick and they would be sitting at a table pretty quickly. Hmm, shrimp scampi actually sounded really good right then but Elayne would look at the menu regardless. Maybe some good wine to go with dinner and an appetizer. Umm, how big were the portion sizes? Should she even be looking at appetizers? "Have you been here before?" Elayne asked after a moment, reaching across the table to hold Haiiro's hand. "I think that the shrimp scampi sounds good. Maybe an appetizer and some wine too?"

Haiiro's eyes raised up off the menu as Elayne spoke. Her question earned a brief nod before he shifted and pulled the pen and paper from his jacket.
-- I've been here before. The seafood is better than anything else. I was going to order the shrimp as well, actually. We may want to hold off on the wine for now, but an appetizer would be nice. --
Elayne could pretty much read it as he wrote it and was getting real time feed from all of this. It was technically legal to drink in Gateon, but the thought of then traveling further to Agate on that kind of stomach was ….disconcerting. Even if they stayed there for the night and traveled in the morning, he'd rather not lose mental faculties in this place. It wasn't that it wasn't safe- but that it had been a long time since he'd been there. Getting even tipsy and lost was not a good thing here.
As the waiter came around again, Haiiro flipped a page and wrote out what he wanted. The waiter raised an eyebrow but was quick to nod before asking what Elayne wanted.

As Haiiro shifted to take out the paper, Elayne let go of his hand if only to let him write the message. So he's been here before. That earned a soft smile and a small giggle as it seemed they were thinking about the same thing. Well then, great minds really do think alike. No wine right now? Yeah, that made sense. She was already feeling pretty tired now anyway and wine would make it that much harder to stay awake. Hmm, an appetizer though. If this had the best seafood, then maybe... "How about calamari? If this place has the best seafood, it sounds like it would be one of the better choices. And you're right about the wine, love~. Best save that for tonight~," Elayne suggested, slipping into Italian briefly and looking into Haiiro's eyes as she spoke. Had that last sentence sounded a little softer and perhaps suggestive? Possibly, maybe. But before Elayne could explain, the waiter came and took their order. After ordering the calamari and special of the day, Elayne thanked the waiter and looked back at Haii. The waiter had come too soon to tell if her little tease had elicited a reaction but oh well. There was time for that later. For now, Elayne was more interested in relaxing and maybe try to wake up enough she didn't feel dead on her feet. "Is there anywhere else you wanted to visit in Gateon? That bookstore looked interesting but I'm afraid we'd leave there ten pounds heavier." Why no, that wasn't an exaggeration. If left alone in a bookstore, especially if they had older books or some of her favorite authors, Elayne was like a kid in a candy store. Assuming they wanted to be able to fly or teleport it would be easier not to risk the temptation.

Hmmmm. A thoughtful look came to Haiiro's features as Elayne spoke. He hadn't had calamari here, but he couldn't imagine it'd be worse than any of the other seafood choices. A small nod was given at that- only for him to freeze a little at Elayne's word choice. The tips of Haiiro's ears colored just a little even if his features didn't shift too much.
As the waiter came and left, Haiiro had managed to settle again. The question, however, had him bringing a few fingers to his lips in thought. There weren't too many things he wanted to see in Gateon specifically. It was more in Agate itself that the true natural beauty rested. After a moment, a small shake of head was given.
-- Agate has more interesting things to see including the Relic Stone--
The stone itself had a history all its own and was worth seeing at least once while they were there. If the area wasn't considered sacred by default, he would have imagined there would be a lot of weddings there.

After both had ordered, Elayne looked back at Haiiro to see if her tease had elicited an reaction. Unfortunately, by the time the waiter left, it was hard to say for certain whether the tease had done anything. Oh well. It was still really nice just to be able to spend time together with just the two of them. Seeing him shake his head at her question, Elayne looked a little confused. Gateon seemed so neat though, why wouldn't they spend more time- ... Ohhh, so there was another town that they were going to go to. Right, Haiiro had mentioned that before, hadn't he. "The Relic Stone? I don't think I've heard of that before. What's it like?" Elayne asked, leaning forward slightly as she spoke, eyes sparkling with excitement. Artifacts and treasures were always so much fun to see, learning the history behind the objects was always fascinating after all. Perhaps it would be better to wait until they had actually reached Agate but if Haiiro was willing to explain, that would be cool too.

A thoughtful look came to Haiiro's features. Shifting the pencil in his hand, he drew out a cylinder and then slowly started to detail the finer points of the stone. It was huge, of course, and he drew out a stick figure person for 'scale', showing how large it was, in fact. Turning it around, he showed it to Elayne before flipping a page and writing out more.
-- It's a sacred artifact tied to Celebi in some way. It's located in an area that is known for healing. It's a very special place. --
He still wasn't entirely sure how it was tied in with Celebi. There was only so much his grandmother knew of the subject even though she herself had lived there for all of her life. It was hard to say exactly what drew the master of time to such a place, but the elders that called the place home certainly regarded it as a special place.
-- My grandmother's house is also in Agate. It's where I grew up.--
For the most part. He didn't want to… show her the slum city that was Pyrite where he'd been born and raised for part of his life. No. Agate was calmer, quieter, safer in many regards.

As Haiiro started to draw, Elayne's interest grew. So the relic stone is some kind of cylinder? She could just barely make out some of the details as he was drawing it and might have gotten close to knocking her water over a couple of times. The finished picture however had Elayne's eyes growing just at the sheer size of it. It looked like there were other details on the stone that she couldn't quite make out but maybe it was one of those things that would be more apparent in person. "Wait, Celebi?"Elayne repeated before she read the rest of the message. Oh, healing too? That was interesting, it sounded really amazing though and definitely a place worth seeing. "That sounds really interesting, do we have time to go there? What kind of healing properties does the area have?" There were more questions she had and more that came to mind but she also didn't want to overwhelm Haiiro either. Then Elayne read the message about Haiiro's grandmother being in Agate. A soft smile spread across Elayne's features before she looked into his eyes. "I want to see her, if that's alright with you. I want to see all of the places you love, Haiiro. Everything," she explained softly, clasping Haiiro's hand in hers before giving it a brief squeeze. Orre was where Haiiro grew up after all, she wanted to learn more about what experiences he had growing up and what he loved. He'd already seen so much of Era and the places Elayne loved, even if it was wartorn now it hadn't always been. Perhaps that was what made this trip so exciting and special at the same time.

A small quirk of lips did pull onto Haiiro's features as Elayne started asking questions. He had been about to write out some of the answers when she went on again. I want to see her. Well, they probably would given Shiro's wedding plans, but even then, they could probably stop in and catch up with her some at home too. The claps of hand and brief squeeze had his features warming some, but a small nod was given that.
Flipping a page, he started writing out again. -- It's said to open the hearts of others and heal their minds and spirits after. It's said to reverse even some of the darkest things like Shadow Pokemon…. If you remember those.-- Of course Elayne probably would given their rampant proliferation towards the end there. -- There are also several Pokemon daycares that have techniques for desert climate Pokemon and various other things. -- He smiled a little bit at that. -- My grandmother is a breeder. -- He was pretty sure he had mentioned that at some point, but it was always best to reemphasize again.
It was shortly after that, however, that their food was there. Haiiro switched gears some, picking up a fork rather than a pencil. Eating a few bites, he nodded a bit to himself. Yeah, this was really good. Just as he remembered the sea.

Elayne didn't miss that small smile of sorts and felt her own features warm a bit. Maybe she shouldn't have asked so many questions at once but it sounded so cool! This Relic Stone somehow had ties to Celebi and had healing aspects to it? How hadn't she heard about something like this before? The answer was obvious considering she came from a region that had been filled with turmoil but that was neither here nor there right now. Feeling over Haii's hand briefly, she smiled when he nodded at her request to visit his grandma. Belatedly, Elayne remembered that Haiiro's grandma would probably be at the wedding but visiting her in Agate would be a little more personal and special than just seeing her at the wedding. As Haiiro started to write again, Elayne leaned forward a little more. Open up hearts and heal minds... huh, that sounded really cool, maybe it would help with the night terrors. They didn't come near as often as they used to now but when they did... it wasn't something she liked to think about. The part about Shadow Pokemon had her flinching briefly. Of course she remembered, her own mother had tried to convince her to turn Lily at one point. That and the fact that they had so often been used in the war... it wasn't a happy memory to say the least and Elayne quickly pushed those thoughts aside. Haiiro went on about Pokemon daycares and Elayne's eyes lit up at the thought of seeing more baby Pokemon. The emphasis that his grandma was a breeder had Elayne smiling even more. It was clear she wanted to ask more questions but the waiter came back with their food before she could voice her thoughts. Oh, apparently the appetizer came with the entree in this restaurant. Oh well? At least the calamari dish was small enough it wasn't that big of a deal but where had the time gone. It was only after Elayne took a bite that she realized how hungry she had been. The food was really good, and she had to remind herself not to inhale it but it was definitely some of the best seafood she could remember having. "This is excellent" Elayne mused between bites, more than a little glad she'd ordered the shrimp. The calamari was good too but the shrimp combined with the pasta was the perfect combination. Too bad they couldn't eat here more often, she could get used to food as amazing as this.

Blue eyes closed as Haiiro took several more bites here in silence. Even at Elayne's exclamation, his features only twitched up a little subtly. He was glad the food had stayed good after so many years. Maybe that was part of the charm of the Orre, though, many things stayed the same year after year.
After they'd finished up and the food was paid for, they'd head out again, and after showing off a few extra areas here and there, Haiiro finally came across a sand vehicle renting place and got a decent enough bike and side car. It had been a very, very long time since he'd ever needed to drive one, but once he got used to the controls and gears, it was just like riding an actual bike. Driving off through the dusty, sandy terrain, they traveled for a while before finally coming upon the sole source of green for hundreds of miles: Agate Village. The lush nature of it could be seen from even far away, and the shimmer of the waters that poured from different highlands was like a beacon in the late afternoon air.
Coming into the village, Haii drove a bit slower giving Elayne a chance to look around the very clandestine area before finally pulling up into the driveway of an expanded one-story house. Coming outside to stand on the front porch, a dark skinned old woman with her black and grey hair tied up in a bun stared for a moment before slowly smiling, raising a hand, and waving over. "Haiiro! Is that you, Boy?" she called walking up with a smile. "My goodness you've grown."
As Haiiro eased off the bike, she closed the distance between them and hugged him tight. He fidgeted slightly before hugging back right after. "….Gram…." The first word in months finally slipped passed his lips. "I'm home."
The woman laughed and looked up at him. "Welcome home, my boy," she answered. It was only after this that she noticed Elayne in company. "Oh~ And you must be Elayne? Nice to meet you!"

The rest of the meal was finished in silence for the most part. After they had left the restaurant there wasn't much left to see in Gateon but the few places they did see had Elayne asking a few more questions here and there. Upon seeing the sand vehicles, Elayne thought they looked really cool and would certainly be an experience riding in one. Just the same, she was more than a little relieved that Haiiro was the one at the wheel and not her. Bikes were cool certainly, and she wouldn't have complained about riding behind him but driving one was another matter entirely. Driving through the dusty sandy area, Elayne learned quickly that it wasn't a very good idea to try and speak. Instead, she signed a few words here and there as they traveled towards Agate Village. After seeing all the sand and dirt, the green in the village was a welcome sight for certain. The glistening water had Elayne's eyes sparkling with delight. So this is Agate. There was so much she wanted to see and explore in the little piece of paradise. It was so different from both Era and Veria but certainly held a certain charm to it. Already there was so much to take in that it was hard to keep up with her racing thoughts. Soon enough they would approach a house with an older woman residing in it. Judging by the way that she recognized Haiiro right away, this must be his grandma. Elayne would take a moment to take off her helmet and shake some of the sand out of her hair before following after Haiiro. Seeing the hug, Elayne opted to wait before introducing herself for now. At least, that had been the initial thought before she heard Haiiro speak. Tears filled her eyes at hearing just those simple words. As much as she knew how hard it was for him to talk at times, she still missed hearing his voice at times. As soon as Haiiro's grandma let go, Elayne took his hand and gave it a light squeeze, leaning against him briefly until she heard her name. Elayne nodded and smiled warmly at the woman before her, "Yes, it's a pleasure to meet you," she greeted before extending an hand to the woman before her. "Haiiro's told me about you and said you're a breeder as well? I have a ranch back in Veria and would love your advice, if you're willing," she continued, eyes sparkling at the thought of seeing more babies. That was one of the reasons she loved breeding so much. There was just something special about raising a Pokemon from an egg that just couldn't be beaten. Perhaps she was a little too excited about seeing the differences in techniques but ...well, when would she get a chance like this again? "I... also wanted to thank you for raising such a wonderful grandson. I don't know what I would do without him," Elayne said softly, taking Haiiro's hand again as she spoke. It was the truth and had been on her mind for a while. A letter would have sufficed certainly but there was just something about talking in person that writing couldn't possibly replace.

The old woman smiled at Elayne as she spoke, reaching forward and taking her hand briefly as well. A curious look did come to her features as Elayne went on- at least until she made her intentions clearer which then caused it to evolve into something more devious. "Is that so?" she spoke eying Elayne and then looking back to Haiiro. "So long as you're willing to help this old lady out, I suppose I can show you some of my tricks." She flashed a toothy grin looking back to Elayne again.
What came after, however, had both the old woman and Haiiro pausing again. Color threatened to warm Haiiro's features, but the look of pride that swelled in his grandma's was much more all-encompassing. "Well, it's good to see he's been doing a little more growing on his own too," she answered, setting her hand on her hip and offering Haiiro a cheeky grin. The latter blushed, his eyes escaping off towards the house instead.
The woman looked back before snorting a bit softly. "Why don't you two come inside. I'll get some tea started, and you can tell me about some of your adventures and travels for a while. Shiro should be over in a bit too- have you heard anything from Kuroh?" A small shake of head was given from Haiiro, and his grandma sighed in response. "Hopefully he'll make it in time for the wedding, I swear." Shaking her head, the woman made a hand gesture inwards and into the house.
