Yumi was about to confirm her question, the merchant clearly not doing himself any favors now that he felt the pressure, but as she opened her mouth to speak the sharp sound of the blade being unsheathed caught her ears and the shimmer of the blade found her eyes. Jolting back and away, Ko-ken even seemed alarmed and put himself between Yumi and the 'crazy lady' with the sword. The merchant easily looked like he was about to soil himself, but Yumi coudln't just let her stab someone in broad daylight!? Her eyes darted around, realizing swiftly a few people were starting to look at them, pushing past Ko-ken and wrapping her hands around Saya's hand on her blade, forcing it down towards the ground despite her weak arms.
"N-nothing to see here folks! Just a street performance and all that!" Of course no one bought it but Yumi just needed to try and get through to Saya this wasn't normal. Yeesh. Trust her to make friends with the crazy girl at the therapists...taking her hand still she began to drag her down the nearest alleyway out of sight, turning to her the moment they had any sense of privacy.
"The hell was that!?" Ko-ken let out a loud 'Sa!' To say he did not approve of talking to the crazy girl. "Yeah he was conning you but did you have to pull the sword!?"

“The only way to recover from this dishonour is to have you split your stomach, crook… Or perhaps your would prefer me to lop off your head?” The moment intense as Saya stood with her blade stretched out before her, she was too focused on staring a hole through the crook that she barely even registered the guardian of the girl whom she had befriended stepping forward protectively. “P-P-Please, I have a wife and children, don’t kill me!” The knave in front of her practically blubbering with tears as he begged for his life, it was only when Miss Tachibana felt the gentle pressure of Yumi’s hand that she actually took a moment to look around herself.
The eyes of the people around them practically on stalks as a stern looking blue face glared at her almost as frostily as she had been toward the weeping man, it was only when the dark haired girl saw those in her surroundings that she began to realize her perceived overreaction. The extreme response Saya had taken one that she had seen her father and brothers take such action against crooked merchants and thieving vagabonds when she was a girl, such dishonourable deeds were treated very seriously where she came from, yet the atmosphere here was different. Sure people looked over to see what was going on, but usually there seemed a quiet approval of the harsh dealing, not looks of fear and horror.
“I fear that I have acted with too much rashness and severity…” Lowering her sword slowly and sliding the smooth, shining steel back into its sleeve, Saya let out a small sigh and then bowed slightly toward the merchant and then more fully toward Ko-ken and Yumi, her face rather red as she realized the rather large cultural faux pas she had committed. “There is no excuse, I let the heat of my emotions get the better of me…” Looking toward Yumi a little bit shyly, seeming to not want to focus on the eyes of the other girl for too long, Miss Tachibana felt herself more compelled to apologize to the woman over the pale as a sheet merchant who had seemed to collapse behind his stall with foam coming from his mouth. Feeling a weird kind of connection with the first person she felt even a hint of friendship with in Veria, Saya felt rather ashamed herself for causing such a panicked scene for the redhead…

Well at least she was apologizing...still who's first response to someone conning them was to pull a sword? For a brief moment she worried Saya came from some sorta yakuza family or something. Honestly given the way she held herself that sounded a little too close to the truth for her paranoid brain to handle. All the same...she did apologize, and taking a long breath herself Yumi tried to calm her own nerves now that the sword had been put away.
"Yeah that's one way to put it..." She glanced back to the merchant who'd borderline passed out and gave a deep, slow sigh. "Look we best get out of here anyway before any nervous passerbys call the cops on you, so..." She glanced back to the merchant, smirking as an idea formed. "Tell you what, you want a magikarp so bad we'll go to the park eh?~ I'm fairly certain there's magikarp in the pond there, and they allow catching at this time of day if I remember right?"

“I feel that I should say again how sorry I am to have caused you so much trouble, Yumi-san…” Head still sagging down to show the disgrace that she continued to feel several minutes later, Miss Tachibana looked quite meek as she moved along the streets of Faraday toward the park that the girl had mentioned. Having taken the advice of the woman to clear out before things got too hairy for them, while Saya was thankful for both the assistance and the company of the other girl the circumstances that had led to this little ‘date’ left her feeling rather awkward.
“So, the ‘Magikarp’ is more available in Veria?” Finally electing to offer something that wasn’t either silence or apology when the duo passed into the gates of a rather large expanse of green and trees which Saya had to assume was the park they were heading for, with a voice that was a little quieter and less confident than the tone she tended to use the dark haired beauty attempted to create a little bit of small talk. “Where I came from, they tend to be rare… But are considered powerful and noble creatures?” Glancing toward the girl whom she was being guided by in a fashion that still seemed to carry some of that ‘scolded dog’ sentiment, Miss Tachibana felt a little more exposed than usual because of the embarrassment she had created as she shared a nugget or two about the land that she came from.
“It sounds like you know quite a bit of the monsters that live in this land? Do you study them professionally?” Saya still something of an amateur when it came to Pokémon, even the small amount of expertise that the redhead had demonstrated so far was enough to impress her. Not having had many dealings with people who weren’t associated with the sciences or simply assigned to keep an eye on her, Miss Tachibana found herself with a strong sense of curiosity about the person who seemed to have chosen her company rather than had it forced upon her professionally.

As they made their way to the park, Yumi felt more and more at ease while Ko-ken remained equally tense, walking behind Saya to make sure he kept an eye on her, especially the hand carrying her sword. Sheathed or not he wasn't about to let an eager handed woman slash the back of his charge...
"Rare and powerful? Where..." She wanted to ask where she came from but shook it off, she'd displayed amnesiac traits already and it felt like a rude question, especially when they could focus on something else that would benefit them both. Saya would get a Pokemon and Mia would feel a lot more at ease about letting her go if she had a magikarp and wasn't about to walk into another con..
"Ko-ken, fetch me some branches?" The Sawk wasn't eager to move, but giving Saya a very clear 'watching you' look, he moved towards a tree and jumped up to snap some branches, tossing one back to Yumi, and one to Saya, not calling to the latter and a part of him hoping to catch her off guard and hit her with it. Yumi shot him a light glare if Saya didn't catch it, but tried not to make too big an issue as she pulled some special pokeballs out of her deep pockets, two specifically, each attatched to a string. "Here, do what I do. I'm gonna guess if you've never seen a magikarp you've never fish-capped before."
She sat cross legged by the pond, tying her string around her branch and leaving a lot of free string to be tossed into the water.

This one certainly seems to lack the friendliness of his trainer… Catching the blue faced beastie who seemed to act as Yumi’s chaperone sending her the stink eye again before ducking out to fetch the sticks that his trainer asked for, Saya tried to rise above the ill feeling she felt she was on the receiving on of by sending a small but gentle smile the Sawk’s way, but felt it was largely overlooked. Managing to grab the branch that he hurled toward her thanks to honed reflexes and her subtly strong frame, Miss Tachibana’s brow tightened a little and she gave a short sigh of disappointment as the hostility toward her continued, wondering if she should say something to the redhead about him.
“Fish-capped?” Distracted by the odd term that Yumi used to describe something that she could only guess at, Miss Tachibana blinked as she imagined the pair of them attempting to place hats on a trout or pike, before the action of the young woman helped her to realize a little of the intent behind what they were doing. Is she attempting to make some form of rod? Smoothing out the hem of her skirt and tucking it underneath her knees as she slipped down into the grass, while the redhead crossed her legs Saya showed a little more stiffness in her position as she knelt on the ground, showing the rigid posture that had been drilled into her throughout her young life.
“Where I come from, we generally put hooks at the end of rods, rather than these… ‘Pokéballs’ as they seem to be known?” Inspecting the line which she had been given and noting the similarity between the orb at the end of it and the seemingly magical sphere in which she kept her own partner, Saya looked at the dangling ball for a second before setting about the same task that Yumi had engaged in.
“I… Think that this should suffice?” Humming gently as she wound the other end of her string around the tip of the stick with an elegant knot that she’d learned through needlework to be rather secure, Saya then looked back up from the little task she had been set and toward her companion for further instruction, wondering to herself just how she expected the mouth of most fish to go around such a cumbersome piece of bait…

"You're...not used to pokeballs?" Yumi was more and more perplexed by how undeveloped Saya's home must have been, but didn't want to be too rude and push the issue. All the same, she made sure both of them had their pokeballs tied up and started to explain. "Well, anyway, we still sometimes use hooks with normal fish but I think we use nets for them more often than hooks...normally when you use a Pokeball on the rod, you're waiting for a Pokemon to get into it and get caught. Then, before the Pokeball opens, you pull it ashore, fight it, and then catch it properly. Buuuuuuuuut if we're just getting Magikarp we may not need to pull it ashore."
Sitting down cross legged beside the pond, Yumi made sure Saya was watching, and began to cast her rod, throwing it back over her head then flicking it out far into the water. "Juuuust...like...this!~"

“No, I cannot say that I am really?” The confusion of her companion something that she could clarify, Saya lifted up the sole sphere of red and white that she carried, but confirmed that she had never actually had to ever use it. “When I got here they put honoured Tamadono into one, which reminds me actually…” Tossing the ball to the side of the bank and releasing the majestically fluffy fox from within, Miss Tachibana decided that a quiet place like this was a fine locale to let her friend get some air.
“This is Tamadono, she is the guardian of myself and my clan.” Encouraged by the fact that Yumi too seemed to have a Pokémon of her own at her side and feeling rather guilty that such a venerated vixen spent so much of her time cooped up these days, Saya bowed her head toward the noble Ninetales that she had let free and introduced her esteemed companion to the redhead and her blue faced buddy. “She is used to coming and going as she pleases, and as such I fear feels too confined by the ball she is expected to be kept in?” The fox herself nodding back with equal esteem before casting a mildly suspicious look toward Ko-Ken, she took a few steps away from the ‘group’ and began to sniff at the air and grass as she enjoyed the freedom that had been offered.
“Sorry about that, where were we?” Smiling softly as she took a moment to watch the way the light breeze made the fluffy crest of her friend dance before returning her attention to the moment, Miss Tachibana tried to mimic the way that Yumi had casted her ball-laden line out, but overestimated the strength that she might need to do so.
“Hya!” Quite an able body largely hidden beneath her ladylike clothing, with a short and sharp grunt the girl flung the stick she was holding forwards in a manner reminiscent of a one handed sword strike and sent the ball shooting forward, rather than toward their target. The tether that had been tied to the item quickly becoming taut and then snapping back without ever breaking the surface of the water, after a spring like boing the ball was sent shooting back toward Saya, zipping over her shoulder and hurtling rather quickly toward the face of the martial artist monster nearby!

Honored? The pokemon must have been pretty important where she came from to have that infront of it's name. The Ninetales certainly looked pretty too, though Yumi was sure she remembered the name from somewhere...her eyes narrowed as she tried to focus on the thought, widening again when it struck her. That was the kantonese name for the Pokemon wasn't it? Right? "Oh are you from somewhere in the Kanto province? I hear there are some smaller settlements off the map...ah er...least I think that's the Kanto name for the Pokemon? I could be...way off...heh."
All the same she watched her throw the rod, wincing a little at how hard she'd slung it, worried she'd end up knocking a poor fish on the head, but instead finding it lash back and thwack Ko-ken on the forehead. It hurt but he hardly moved much from the force, and thanks to already being in a pokeball the new one had no effect on him. All the same as the blue fighter rubbed his forehead his view of the girl hardly improved, grumbling under his breath and storming off in another direction to wait by a tree outside of her danger range.
"Er...maybe a bit softer...here." Grabbing some pebbles she pulled them around her rod and propped it up between them, moving behind Saya and holding her arms, guiding her carefully as she helped her lift her arms back just right. "Okay, just lift back nice and gentle then...throw." She held in close to Saya without realizing, pushing her front into her back as she guided her arms into the motions of a good cast.

“My humblest apologies…” Blinking in surprise as the swing she had put far too much strength into socked the sober soul behind her in the face, Saya paused for a second before using her kneeling position to stoop toward to creature apologetically. Blushing a little as she peeked back up and saw Ko-ken stomping away, she couldn’t help but notice a slight smirk on the face of her Ninetales, who seemed to have appreciated the accidental mischief.
"I do hope your friend isn't too upset?" Having got to know her lone partner much better in the past year than she ever had in the eighteen that preceded it, the old fox who had followed Miss Tachibana from her homeland had shown a greater propensity for tomfoolery in recent times. Seeming to delight on occasion and playing tricks on some of Saya’s chaperones, the girl wasn’t sure if she had taken up this habit to try and lift her spirits or if this was a tendency she had simply managed to conceal more subtly where she was from. Before the trip to Veria Tamadono had always carried herself with a sense of regal refinement, but now seemed a little more down to earth. Could it be that like Saya, she too felt her responsibilities lessened by the new world?
“O-oh, uhm…” Miss Tachibana given little chance to speculate on this small change in her partner as she found her other female companion drawing near, the blush that she had carried from her mistake remained as Yumi moved in behind her and took the dark haired girl into a gentle embrace. Not used to such contact with anyone other than her mother really, if a man had been so foolish as to try and grab her like this then Saya would have likely have thrown him over her shoulder without much of a second thought, but with another woman she found herself almost feeling weaker?
“Your assistance is appreciated…” The strong body of Miss Tachibana suddenly seeming to possess far less prowess, there seemed something about the light softness that was leaning into her that put the young woman at ease. Voice seeming lower and lacking a little of the confidence she usually carried as Yumi demonstrated the correct technique, Saya felt a silent nervousness about the contact that felt like a taboo, but also a reluctance to push the other woman away. Where she was from it was considered almost a crime to be of marriageable age and still want to ‘play’ with girls, but Saya now found herself enjoying the new culture she was in.
“H-Have you done much of this fish-capping?” Having been too wrapped up in the fact that she was breaking a habit of her homeland to even notice that her tied Pokéball had by now plopped into the water in front of them, Miss Tachibana felt that after contact that seemed so intimate to her she should try even harder to get to know the redhead a little better. Still quietly flustered by what had gone on and not quiet at her charming best, Saya was a little subdued in the moment but clearly quite intrigued by this strange new friend…

"Oh don't worry about it, honestly I was tempted to giggle a little myself." Of course even if she could find it a little amusing, Ko-ken just crossed his arms tighter and looked off to the side as he leaned against the tree. Yumi continued to guide Saya in her motions as she spoke, just making sure she cast it out right this time. "Ko-ken can be...a bit stubborn himself sometimes, but don't worry, he just takes a while to warm up to everyone..." Really that was a lie, unless it was one of Yumi's Pokemon, Ko-ken never seemed to get along with anyone.
With the successful cast, Yumi leaned over her shoulder and smiled brightly at her managing to do it right with some guidance, moving to sit infront of the rod she'd stuck between the heavy pebels and looking back up at the other woman, tipping her head back as she thought. "Er...I've definitely done it before, but I don't do it a lot is the thing. My Pokemon mostly tend to be land based so fishes never really come to mind. How about you? Do they really use hooks for Pokemon where you come from?"

“Do you have a lot of them? Pokémon, I mean?” Sensing that the expertise which Yumi had demonstrated so far seemed to imply that the other girl was far more endowed with allies than just the blue Oni who had stomped off, Saya felt a little more assured of herself now that the redhead had opened some distance between them. Knowing that in this world she was perhaps a ‘rare’ case of someone who moved with only a single monster, Miss Tachibana had known a chaperone or two that carried a handful of Pokémon and wondered if her new friend was the same?
“For Pokémon? No…” The topic of her history and homeland being something that they had brushed past without going into much detail so far, given their peaceful surrounding and the growings sense of connection that she was feeling toward Yumi, Miss Tachibana found herself feeling a little more open with the girl. “I shall have to confess that the creatures which you call Pokémon are much rarer where I am from, though I do know that my village tended to catch quite a few ‘normal’ fish?” Recollecting the scarcity of the magical creatures from her homeland that had been divided between the category of Yōkai and guardian kami, it had occurred to the girl since coming here that the ‘scales’ between animals and Pokémon seemed to be inverted where she was now.

"Heh, hundreds." She answered the question fairly nonchalantly, but with a hint of embaressment in her features. She knew not everyone was a nut and caught almost every pokemon she saw like she herself used to, but all the same it was just a simple fact that was easy enough to state. "I don't get to let all of them roam free all the time but I have a friend who lets me store some of them at his ranch now and then to stretch their legs."
Pulling at her rod a little to make the Pokeball move in the water a little, trying to attract a fish to the movement, Saya's next words settled on her head and she smiled a little. Honestly that answered a fair bit? Pokemon tended to get everywhere but if Saya's home didn't have Pokemon in general she probably didn't know a lot about any of this stuff at all. "You guys get normal fish? I hear those are pretty rare even for fisherman. Hey maybe your home is where we all get out edible fish from huh?~"
Leaning across, she'd lightly rest a hand on Saya's rod, flicking it back a bit so the pokeball jostled in the water, then looking at her face. "You wanna just give it a little twitch every few seconds okay?"

“I cannot say that I am sure if the fish our village caught would feed even Faraday? I think most was for our own consumption…” Missing any possible playfulness in the comment of her companion and answering the question rather soberly, her head tilting back as she remembered the simple village in which she used to live.
“Really, I see more people walking the streets of Faraday than ever lived in the village I came from?” Unaware or perhaps unable to grasp the idea that the place she had come from was an entire dimension away, for the most part Saya had assumed she had simply ended up on another island or side of the world at most. The truth boggled her mind to such a degree that she struggled to comprehend the depth of it.
“Ah, yes… I see.” Feeling a slight panic as Yumi leaned closer to her since she half expected the girl to grab her again, Miss Tachibana felt her pulse quicken just a little before the girl waggled her stick just a bit, nodding at the advice and mimicking the action herself. Spending a few moments silently watching the water move the orb before tilting it again, Saya listened to the sound of the wind making the trees dance before speaking again.
“If it is not too impolite to ask, what of you? What is the place you come from like?” Feeling perhaps a little intrusive as she decided to delve into the past of her redheaded companion, Miss Tachibana turned her head toward the girl as she risked letting her curiosity be her guide…

So her home was tiny and her pokemon's name seemed to have a Kanto or Johto heritage...okay. Yeah, probably just a small village off the maps. Her time in Kanto had been when she was working for rocket, so it made sense that she never would have dealt with somewhere so small and far off the beaten path. She did worry for a moment that she was missing something here, and it was just on the tip of her tongue when Saya asked her next question.
"Oh, I come from the region of Hoenn originally...its a really watery place but I lived pretty far inland. Still got a nice bit of water though. Sometimes I'd break out of the home, grab a bike from the local racks and ride down to the nearest beach...just enjoy some peace and quiet till they caught me. Heh." She lowered her head, smiling softly as she enjoyed her memories. "We had a nice river and a few waterfalls near my home but...dosn't beat the ocean."
As she focused on her memories, she realized the 'beat' she was missing, looking over to Saya and asking with a cautious tone. "You er...staying with anyone? I mean...you seem to only half remember your home? Do you not live with any family?"
