Xavier and his Numel, Vesuvius were wandering through some of the rugged terrain outside of Carrefor City. It was relaxed and not overly cold for a winter’s day which made the wandering not so difficult. It was also nice to be alone for a bit, well, looking down to his numel, alone from people.
Things had been going smoothly since he’d arrived here in Veria. He had found the people here much more accommodating than he’d thought they would be. His job was going well, both of them. He still couldn’t get over the fact that the league had offered him that position, he wouldn’t disappoint them. Nor would he disappoint Interpol. He was certainly in for one hell of a balancing act.
Xavier surveyed the landscape to see if any pokemon stuck out to him or he saw anything of interest.

Gazing in the distance he found a primeape angrily rampaging in their direction. Xavier was certainly no pokemon professor, but he knew enough to understand what a problem a rampaging pig monkey could cause to an area. It simply had to be dealt with, and he knew just the guy to do the job. After all, wasn’t this kind of thing what gym leaders did?
Taking a deep breath, he sent his numel forward, Vesuvius looked utterly unconcerned with its situation, as was typical of the oblivious things. He admired the simple dedication Vesuvius had. Xavier would not betray that unspoken trust. “When it gets close, yawn.”
As the whirling dervish of a pokemon noticed the numel it let out several angry screeching noises and began its attack. As it came close Vesuvius let out a long, drawn out yawn, and the primeape copies the yawn for a second, starting to slow a bit. But that didn’t stop it from thrashing about over the numel before it fell asleep. Vesuvius was injured, but in no danger of passing out. He was made of sterner stuff than that.
Once it was asleep Xavier knew it was the time to act. “Now is the time Vesuvius. Use your flamethrower on it!” Flames erupted in great force from the hump on Vesuvius’ back, engulfing the primeape entirely. The hit was sound and the smell of burnt fur hung heavy in the air. Some how the rage pig hung on to its consciousness but was still sound asleep somehow. Xavier had no idea how pokemon slept through such things. He knew it was more of a trance like sleep than what creatures usually do at night, but still, being ravaged by a fire tornado should be rousing. He’d just have to try a little harder.
“We’ve got him on the ropes now Vesuvious! Finish him off with another flamethrower! You can do it!” Once again, the blazing eruption of flames flies forth from his numel and engulfs the Primeape as it snoozed.
Once the heat dissipated there was a thoroughly KO’d Primeape in front of them. Hopefully that should subside its rage. Xavier wished just putting it to sleep would have calmed it down, but he knew that would not have been the case. With the help of his pokemon, he moves the primeape to a covered area where opportunistic pokemon would have a much harder time finding this nearly precooked meal.

Waiting a little bit for Vesuvius to cool off, Xavier goes over and scratches it under its chin. “you’re doing great buddy. Here, this will take care of the damage you’ve taken. I’m proud of you Vesuvius. I know that must’ve been a really exerting battle for you. Let’s take a stroll.” He then spritzes numel down with a potion. The bruises sustained from the primeapes attacks shortly thereafter begin to fade away and the duo begins to walk, exploring the area further.
After walking for a several minutes disaster struck as they pass underneath a tree. A gliscor was patiently waiting for some easy prey to pass by, silently it swoops down upon the unsuspecting pair. In a split second the gliscor unleashes a series of bunches and charging attacks against numel. Who sadly, despite the obviously grievous damage it had received, seemed completely unaware of its situation. This is why pokemon flourish when they have a trainer to help them.
“Vesuvius! Defend yourself! Try putting it to sleep with yawn! Then increase your defense with curse! Then return fire with flamethrower!” Yawning widely the numel complies to the order, the gliscor soon yawning after, beginning to get drowsy. A dark aura then surrounds the numel as it starts uttering pokemon profanities, increasing its power while lowering its speed. After Vesuvius finished its tirade it unleashed a fiery gout from his back, hitting the drowsy gliscor cleanly.
After attacking numel with a quick attack and biting it lazily with fire fang the gliscor lands and submits to sleep. “Ok Vesuvius, same as before, lets finish this up! Burn it with all you’ve got, flamethrower!” More flame comes from the numel’s back shortly after the command is issued. Once the flames died down the gliscor was clearly not conscious anymore.
Moving the gliscor to a safe spot as well, Xavier sits down and applies another potion to Vesuvius, gently rubbing its head. “You’re on fire today bud. You’ve definitely earned some rest after that one. Sorry I didn’t look out for you better. I didn’t hear that gliscor coming at all.” Numel then rests his head in Xavier’s lap, all was apparently forgiven.
