Thread Theme!Free time was something Howard wasn’t always accustomed to, mostly because of a really tight work schedule. Then when the young man finally did manage to squeeze a couple hours out for himself, often times there was not room for much else besides a nice, solid nap. Today was different though, in fact this whole week had been a change up of Howie’s normal routine. Right now instead of sitting back at his house relaxing, the blonde found himself out on a hike with his fancy new partner. He’d made his way out of Caravella’s borders, and into the small foothills that lined part of the city. Howard had a specific mission today for himself, and Samantha his trusty Houndour. He was potentially going to find another Pokemon, and grow his team further like any good trainer would. The blue tinted glasses balancing on his nose absolutely beamed with excitement, and a cheeky grin couldn’t be wiped off his face if he tried. Sambo took off ahead of her trainer in a full sprint which kicked dust across Howie’s slacks, and long sleeve.. but it was no bother. He just laughed it away as he watched his Pokemon enjoy herself, and brushed himself off once out of range. “Good girl Sam,” The young guy chirped, “Let’s find something good out here in these hills. Use that nose!” As the tiny pooch wove diagonal lines through the tall grass, Mr.Samson pulled a cigarette from a pack that had been tucked away in one of his front pockets. He eyed his dog as he lit the stick, and couldn’t help applauding his choice in a partner. Not only was this an exercise for Howard as a trainer, but experience for Sam as a tracker. If he was gonna succeed as an Officer any time in the future, or even continuing as Security like he was right now... Howie would need something like that nose. “‘Dour” Samantha barked back, and kept barreling through bushes, high brush, with some doubling back thrown in for good measure. There was no denying she was picking up on her partner’s happy emotions, this is what they were out here for. The Hunt. Her nose was going wild, but being a fairly inexperienced Pokemon, the little Houndour wasn’t sure where to focus her attention. Every little hint of a scent was driving her in all sorts of different directions at once. It didn’t take long for her trainer to pick up that her trail was suddenly becoming quite sporadic. “You only gotta pick one girl, any one,” Howard encouraged her, while trying to keep the Houndour’s efforts pointed toward success. “Pick whichever one you think is the best Sam, we need something tough!” He shouted once the pokemon was getting farther away from him. With a long relaxed drag on his smoke, Howie looked upwards at the sky above. It was just a little while after lunch, and he was graced with nice, clean skies directly above. However, off in the distance, clouds loomed.. dark ones too. It wouldn’t be very long before the weather turned on them, and this made the young made grin die just a bit. “Quickly Sambo, I don’t think Fire-Types do well in the rain... right?!” He wasn’t sure if his Houndour heard him though, she was far too lost in something’s scent, and all Howard could do now is try to keep pace with his dog.

This is a song for this Post specificallyAs the human slowly caught up to his pal pokemon, something else came into sight quickly... a small bird with a bright head. When Howard first saw the creature it was in flight, but before long the Fletchling landed on a high branch of a nearby tree. Samantha crept closer, but was stuck at the bottom of the trunk with no realistic way to reach the pokemon up above. It didn’t take long for her trainer to arrive, and Howie scratched his head only a moment. Both of them were at least ten... maybe even fifteen feet down, but all he had to do was get it moving. He didn’t want to burn the tree, but his pride also did not want to let this thing get away. Being inexperienced Howard felt he needed to prove himself, and this was most people’s first right of passage as a Trainer. Without thinking too hard he spotted a small pebble, and grasped it in his left hand quickly. “Get ready Sam, I’m gonna get em’ to fly. Do your thing, and use Flamethrower,” He whispered to his partner, just as he cocked his arm backwards for a throw. Howie took a couple steps backwards as to get a clearer shot, hoping he got close enough to scare the thing off it’s safe high branches. This was it, this was going to be his make, or break moment. A single shallow breath came over him, and he took aim. The pebble launched forward with only a low woosh of air, but it had enough speed to break a couple of the small limbs up high on the oak-like tree. In just a moment’s notice the Fletchling erupted off of it’s once safe perch, and sailed outward away from the tree.. and directly over it’s attacker. The wild pokemon’s eyes thinned in anger, she wasn’t about to be slighted like this. Tiny as she may be, this Fletchling was prideful, spiteful, and hell maybe she just had a bit of hate in her gut too. Whatever it was, something compelled her from just outright flying away... like she well could have. No, this bird had a plan that was entirely different than that. She swung round, and circled the smoking man down below, and then sailed low. A wild Fletchling knows no mercy, and she dropped a big... white... bomb right on the man’s nice black slacks. There wouldn’t be any hiding the stain, no running from the shame, he was marked now. “FLETCH!” The creature screeched, and spun around for a second round of attack. All she had wanted to do was rest, but that was all gone now. Howard was mortified. He was angry, and spitting words out that made no sense. The young man pointed at the bird that was sailing toward him with wings fully spread. “FLAMETHROWER!” He screamed, it was all he could scream because the second round was even worse than the first, nailing him right on the back of his shoulder. “WHAT THE FU-” He started to wail, but was interrupted by something pushing him forward onto the ground. His face hit the grass just a couple seconds later. When he finally regained some composure, he couldn’t help taking his glasses off to make sure it was real. His partner Samantha had pushed him to the ground yes, but only so she could shoot herself higher up towards that damned sky animal. The Houndour let loose a blaze from her mouth like Howie had never seen her do before, the dog was angry... probably just every bit as mad as her trainer was.. and that pooch was throwing all that emotion into this battle. In seconds, that Fletchling was engulfed in flames, and trying to backpedal with it’s wings as best it could. There was no way it did not take the full brunt of that attack, but before long, Sambo came falling back to the ground. She snarled viciously, as Howard finally came back up to a standing position with a sigh. “Try using Sucker Punch this time, but watch out,” The young man advised, but it really didn’t seem like his hound was listening very much. Her attention was absolutely fixated on that bird, that was the goal, and it didn’t matter what means she used to get there. The Fletchling meanwhile was a bit crispy, but not out of this fight by any means. She chose to stay high in the air, and wildly whipped her wings into a frenzy. There was no stopping her, and soon the air churned around her almost like a whirlpool. This was called Razorwind, probably the wild Pokemon’s favorite attack, and that dastardly twinkle in her eye had it aimed at that black dog. A series of growling chirps could be heard coming from the beak of this creature as it seemed to control the will of the winds that spiraled all around it. Even from afar where Howard was standing, this display looked impressive indeed. It made him smile. This bird literally just crapped all over him a couple of minutes ago, but it’s spirit just made the young Trainer want to catch it even more. As the move was charging, Howard began removing his long sleeve that was now soiled. It left him in just a simple white tank top he’d been wearing underneath, and the slacks... well.. there wasn’t much he could do about those. Unless he wanted to be half-naked that is. “Your turn,” He told Samantha, but she probably already knew that. Without any hesitation the Hounder made her move, and sprinted forward as fast as her little legs would carry her. By the time Sambo was nearing her target, the Fletchling was also ready. Just before the gusts of wind could knock her down, Samantha rocketed upward high enough to make eye contact with the bird. Howie watched closely as his Pokemon took the advice he gave! That Houndour reached out with a paw, and Sucker Punched the hell out of that bird before being hit by the raw force of all those razorous wind gusts. Both pokemon were knocked out of the air, but each managed to get themselves to land on their own respective feet. Then it continued, Fletchling tried to gain a Tailwind advantage over the dog... but all the speed in the world doesn’t matter once a pair of blazing hot teeth are sinking into your skin. Another round exchanged left the bird with a couple more battle scars, but she didn’t want to stop fighting. Even with the bird stepping around off-balance, she had the will to win.. and lunged forward with her beak. She nailed Samantha good, right it the mid-section, and that warranted a loud yelp. The Houndour decided to give one last chomp with a Crunch attack to the tiny redhead, before backing off, and giving her Trainer a knowing look. That Fletchling wasn’t lasting so well, at least from the looks of it... and his partner was giving the signal. He reached back into his bag, and grabbed a blue ball, a Greatball. Being his first actual catch, he didn’t want something going wrong. “Well, here it goes....” Howard huffed, before saying, “You pooped on me bird!!! TWICE!!!!! BUT once you’re my Pokemon, I’ll teach you how to behave a hell of a lot better than that!” With those being the final words before the ball throw, he walked closer to Sambo whilst smiling. A final drag came off his wasting cigarette as it all unfolded, and swiftly the man stubbed it out on his shoe.. and stuffed it in his pocket. However, his gaze never broke the scene in front of him. Did he get it? Would the bird get away.. or just try to drop another one on him? The anticipation was killing him.

4 Pelipper & 4 Wingull in Horde
Somehow, some way, Howard found himself successful. He might have been hit by a couple bird bombs, but he did it! The young trainer managed to catch his first Wild Pokemon, a Fletchling! There was no way to describe his mood at that point, other than elated. He ran forward to the motionless blue ball on the ground, and picked it up with a happy streak consuming his grin. Howie brought his glasses back up over his eyes, and beckoned his hound to come closer. “We did it Sam, we caught one,” He told his partner calmly, “You were absolutely awesome out there too. Why don’t we head back to town, we can get some food before it gets late eh? Celebrate?” With an offer like that, how could the Houndour refuse? Samantha was, and always has been a glutton for anything even remotely tasty. If it was on the table, or the menu.., better believe this fiesty little fire-type was up for a snack! Besides... his new bird had definitely left a mark on his clothes, and they could use a good changing before anything else.
It didn’t take long to stroll back into Caravella City, and frankly Sam was all the happier for the walk. There was something young Howard had yet to do since becoming a Pokemon Trainer.. and that was announce this fact to his father. Mostly out of respect for his old man. Howie’s Mom had left when he was young, and it was all about running off to be a Trainer. So undoubtedly this news from his son would not go over too well at all. He’d only had his Houndour under a week, but he wasn’t openly walking her through the house. Hell he hadn’t even introduced her to his Dad yet, choosing instead to keep her inside a pokeball while at home. Well, that is, until today. Something compelled him to break habit, and the young man just opened his front door with his dark-dog right beside him. “Hi Dad, I’m home,” Howard announced himself, “And I brought somebody. I want you to meet my Houndour, Samantha. Sorry I’m such a mess, ended up getting into a scuffle out in the hills a little while ago.”
Howie’s Father peeked out of their kitchen for a moment, and immediately locked eyes with the strange pokemon who’d come through the door with his son. This was new, and at first he was shocked. Honestly, most kids went out to get their first Pokemon a lot earlier than their 20‘s, but he expected that was mostly because of his Mother. “Well,” Kurt Samson started to say, “At least you had the heart to tell me son, I figured something was going on. You’ve been out, and about more than ever the last couple of days.” He wasn’t hurt, hell, a part of Howie’s Dad was proud. But. That said, he was still worried. Most trainers up, and left home for prolonged adventures. “I know you’re still working, but besides that... ALL I ask, is... can you make it home for dinner once in a while?” Kurt asked plainly, and stepped back out of sight into the kitchen. Whatever he was cooking was making the whole house smell incredible.
“You know I will Dad, I’m not going anywhere fancy. Even if I do, I don’t expect to be there long,” Howard told him, and started to march up to his room for a quick change of clothes. He decided to keep his plain tank top on, but switched his soiled pants out for a fresh pair of beach shorts. They were decorated with colorful hibiscus flowers, and tropical palm leaves. It was such a nice afternoon outside, he figured the beach might not be a bad venue this time of day. “I’ll be home for dinner! That smells incredible by the way!” Howie shouted as his feet carried him out the front door. Before long, he found himself in the center of town that was fairly close to his home. He knew after the quick battle, and subsequent catch earlier... both of his Pokemon could use a decent healing. It was enough to warrant a quick trip to the Pokemon Center, and that’s where he caught sight of a tiny poster stuck up behind the center’s counter. It had a crude drawing of a gray, and yellow mouse-thing, and the words ‘Adoptable’ enscribed across the top of it.
All it took was a couple quick questions, and in a couple minutes the Center’s staff was handing him a whole new pokeball with a shiny new creature he’d never seen inside. Apparently it was some kind of electric type, and it was looking for a proper home, which it of course found under the care of Howard. “Thanks so much guys,” He said gratefully, “How could I pass up an opportunity like this one?” As he, and Samantha both trotted out of the Pokemon Center, they took the sidewalk all the way down to the shoreline. This was a walk that Howie was quite familiar with, but it had always been one of his favorites despite seeing it probably thousands of times over the years. Waves crashing, warm sun, and a light breeze will always be Howard’s own personal version of heaven, and Sambo couldn’t agree more.
The houndour was hit with a rush of smells, and sounds. It was almost overwhelming, but somehow she contained her excitement enough to walk beside her trainer. The rays coming down from the sky warmed her skin nicely, and it didn’t take long for them both to get lost in the beauty of the coastline. After maybe about twenty minutes, or so, the pair walked up on the remnants of what once appeared to be a lovely picnic. Samantha walked up to an overturned basket, and found crumbly bits of food she quickly swept up. “Hey now, don’t be eating that! Who knows how long it’s been there!” Howie lightly scolded, but stopped when he saw something of a trail leading away from the picnic area. “What the hell?” He questioned, and followed the bits of camping furniture, and more food that was heading higher up on the dunes. It only took a couple seconds to see what the source of all this mess was. Howard could see a couple swatting away a pretty decently sized flock of birds. More specifically Pelipper, and Wingull both.
“STOP RIGHT THERE YOU FOUL ATTACKERS!” Mr.Samson exclaimed, reaching down for a second Pokemon to summon to the scene. He decided now was as good a time as any to try out his freshly adopted Emolga from the Pokemon Center.. and that’s exactly what he did. In a flash of light the little winged-rat was called forth, and boy was Howie excited to see the little bugger. “Hey little guy. My name’s Howard, and we’ve got a job to do,” He told the mouse, and pointed at the circling birds ahead, “You, and Sammy here have to try to help those people!”
His Houndour turned her attention to the birds, and growled lightly. She was always up for a fight, especially when those people were so heavily outnumbered by hungry attackers. Her canine eyes fixated momentarily on her new battle partner, this small mouse didn’t look very intimidating.. but who knows?
“Sambo, you use your Flamethrower on them, try to get their attention..” Howie turned his focus over to the new Pokemon of his, “I guess I haven’t said what I want to call you yet.... but what about... Fiesta?”
“GA! GA!” The Emolga spat out, and then out of no where began to let off tiny sparks from it’s body.
“Good!” Howard affirmed, “Then get out there, and zap those birds out of the sky!” He then pointed up at the aggressive birds, and burst forward to close some distance between him, and the attackers himself. That’s about the time flames came shooting out of his trusty hound, barely burning some of the birds in the flock. Following this, a bright flash of light surged through the horde of flying-types, Fiesta used a well placed Discharge to shock as many of the winged monsters as she could. The attack startled the whole pack of Pelipper, and Wingull... and like a feathery storm they all descended on Howie’s team. Beaks, and watery blasts blanketed the battlefield before him.. and all the young trainer could do at first was stand in awe. These birds were ravenous, and riled up like nobodies business. That’s when the young man decided he needed to protect that beach-going couple who were the victims of this unruly horde. He put himself inbetween them, and these wild pokemon before reaching down for his last available Pokemon. A new catch, very new infact, and probably still quite angry about it’s newfound captivity. He released the Fletching onto the ground in front of him, and greeted the redhead with a smile, “Hello, partner, or... as you’ll be known now, Ladybird!” He announced with a graceful fist pump in the air.
The Fletching didn’t seem as impressed by this namesake as her rookie trainer did, but as she looked around the tiny avian saw nothing but chaos. She ruffled her feathers a bit before taking flight herself, joining in this devolving cluster of a battle. “Again Fiesta, zap them again! Sam, try a different move, you can’t burn these birds. Sucker Punch them if you can! Uh... Ladybird, get in there. Stir up a Tailwind for us all, it’ll help you too!” It was a long list of demands, but this clearly wasn’t going to be a fight for quitters. One needed patience, grace, and most importantly the tact to oppose a force such as this. The couple behind Howie quietly thanked him for stepping in, but he waved the thanks off. He wasn’t about to stand by, and let them be picked on. “I just hope they don’t call for reinforcements...” He mumbled under his breath, and watched as the second round of moves were cast. Up first was not surprisingly his Houndour... who was bounding forward like a bat out of hell right towards a low flying Pelipper. Before the bird had a chance to peck back at the dog, it was slammed roughly in the face by a tiny clawed paw. Winds picked up behind Howard’s team after that.. seeming to carry them just a little bit faster than before, and that’s when lightening struck twice. Yet again, Fiesta the Emolga lit up the skies with a surging Discharge that sparked between a good number of the white feathery fiends. Some of them even began to spasm a bit, slowing a select few down with a nasty paralysis. However, none of them had gone down yet, and the flock on the whole was still flying strong. That was ever apparent when their next barrage of attacks rained down like hell.
Even at a small distance, Howard cringed just a bit. Although he was growing accustomed to being a trainer, it was doubtful he’d ever adjust to watching his friends get hurt. Even if it was only for a little while. He had always viewed Pokemon as friends, hell on some level even equals. That fact made some battles hard to watch for him, but this was nature. This right here was what Training was all about, and deep down his competitive drive kept pushing him forward. “That’s good, you’re doing great every one of you!” His broad smile from earlier, turned now into a smirk. He was confident in himself, and in his team. Now he just needed to set out to do it. Fiesta’s electricity was working wonders, and now he needed to mobilize his own bird too. Sam being the brute that she was... always exceeded his expectations. He just needed to keep this up, and this would be written down as a victory in no time at all. “Another round of the same lil’ sparky! Discharge! Show me some Razorwind Ladybird!!” He told his newest pair of Pokemon before turning to Samantha, “Sam, I want you to bite down hard on one of the small ones, try to bring it out of the fight, okay?” The pieces of this chessboard were all ready to move now, and damn did it look good! First another round of electric energy burst through the area, dropping a pair of two smaller Wingull almost immediately, and surged through the rest of the birds in less than a second. Once again, the Fletching couldn’t quite attack yet, but swirled air around it menacingly... and waited. Finally, Samantha grasped another Wingull in her jaws, and began to flop her head around wildly. The Houndour was trying to get the full effect of it’s Crunch move, and after a minute dropped another lone Wingull onto the ground fainted. Things were looking up, that is... until Howard saw the remaining bird opponents beginning to heal themselves.
There wasn’t any outgoing attacks from the wild Pokemon this time around, instead they all were doing their best to stay alive. Not a bad strategy if one wanted a long, drawn out battle... but Howard was not one of those people right now. He had other plans. “Same thing guys, Sam go for the last Wingull. Aim that wind at one of the big ones if you could Birdy, and you keep doing your thing Fiesta, you guys are all rockstars!” He exclaimed, before reaching down into his bag. He wasn’t rich, but that didn’t mean Howie didn’t have a couple nice things. These big pelicans definitely showed potential, and as far as he was concerned... they were worth a couple of nice Ultraballs. He only had two of them, but that would be plenty. The others in this horde could be written off as experience if he still managed to win. All his pokemon had to do was make their final moves. Howard’s oldest partner Sam easily brought down the last of the small buggers, and that was followed by a devastating Razorwind from the tiny Fletchling. Finally, the last to go was Fiesta the Mighty, who electrified everything left flying with another Discharge, and a cackling mew from the little mouse. Everything stood still, and only two of the Pelipper were left struggling to stand once the dust cleared. Perfect. With one Ultraball in each hand, Howard launched the capture devices forward, and tried to hit the pair of birds dead on. Hopefully luck would be on his side for a second time today. Either way, things had been made safe for the beach-going couple, but it was a shame he couldn’t get there in time to save their picnic. Better than having a flock of birds terrorize you though.

There was no doubt the battle that had just taken place was of epic proportions, at least it was for such a greenhorn of a Trainer. He’d found success though, and the fight was over. He, and his team were left standing atop the fainted bodies of those soulless seagulls, and pelicans. Hell, the young man had even claimed a prize, two different catches in the form of a pair of Pelipper. It had been a thrill to get ahold of these beasts, but honestly, Howard felt he had no need for these pokemon. He wanted to commit himself to his first bird, Fletchling, at least for now. However, these two would fetch a decent price to the right people in the market for them. Hell, Howie saw other Trainers doing something of a similar nature all the time. Plus, it could help in the funds department for plenty of other things. Despite not having intentions for keeping them long, Howard claimed possession of the two ultraballs, and put them into his bag for safe keeping.
With nothing left to do at the current scene, it was only natural for them to keep on moving down the beach. They still had a whole day ahead of them afterall. Wanting to change things up, Howard recalled both Fiesta the Emolga, and his constant friend Samantha. This left the rookie alone with none of the others, except for his last pokemon Ladybird. She was a stubborn little redheaded robin, but Howie just had to give her the time to grow on him. “You did good back there Lady, I want you to know that even if you don’t want to speak to me,” Mr.Samson admitted almost silently, “You’ve got guts, that’s what I saw in you earlier today too. The way you, and Sam fought... incredible.” This didn’t get a reaction out of the Fletchling, but it didn’t bother Howard in the slightest. He was being sincere, and just shrugged off the cold shoulder he was getting from the previously wild avian.
As the human walked along the sand, something small caught his eye. It was another Pokemon... but it wasn’t like any of the others he’d seen before. This one walked right up to the trainer in the most polite manner he’d ever seen, and this action startled Howard at first. For a second, he thought he might get hit directly, but that wasn’t the case at all. This little Bunnelby wanted to play, and even brought him a tiny present! It was a strange pink egg, and even though it was weird... Howie still accepted the thing. Maybe this egg would be useful somewhere else. “Well, uh, thanks lil’ rabbit dude. I’m definitely gonna hang onto this little trinket,” Howard told the wild Bunnelby, before getting his attention drawn elsewhere.
While he had been having a friendly interaction with the bunny, his Fletching was off causing trouble somewhere else entirely. Apparently, the bird decided to pick a fight with some otter that was floating around right off of the coast. The robin swooped down unprovoked, and slammed the little orange critter right in the head! “Hey now!” Howie shouted, and waved his arms frantically, “PLAY NICE!” The sudden burst of motion, and loud noise was enough to startle that happy little Bunnelby, and it booked it straight back into the dunes. Howard kicked the sand a bit lightly, and kept shouting out at the Fletchling who was trying to pick a fight with that Buizel. However, the blonde trainer didn’t want to hurt this Pokemon... it was minding it’s own business anyway. “Just leave that one be Ladybird, there will be other things further down the beach, c’mon,” Howard told his redhead, and pointed at a boardwalk that wasn’t more than a couple blocks distance, “How about we try there?”

Before long Howard, and his trusty angry bird were closing in on the small platform that hosted a whole variety of venues. Right off the bat he could see a small bait shop, that was mostly a riddled old shack.. and tons of buckets full of different kinds of bait. Next to that was a neat looking gift shop that looked awfully crowded with all sorts of stuff like shirts, seashells, and even jewelry. Then towards the end of the small dock was a quaint restaurant that had a nice view of a wide range of expansive coastline. It looked like a nice place to hang out for a little while, and maybe even eat some. Lord knows his stomach started growling a long time ago already, and what better place to find a meal? Being polite the young man recalled his only remaining Pokemon, and entered the food joint that had a familiar beach theme to it. They had nice waitresses working at the time, and even though it was busy the whole meal was very pleasant. On the way out Howie even found the time to order some extra food especially for his Team who was probably just as hungry as he was.
Mr.Samson wasted no time getting back out to the sandy beach, and opened every one of the Pokeballs containing his team. A Houndour, Fletchling, and Emolga all came bursting from red beams of light, and was greeted to personalized meals for each of them. Howard might have been a Rookie, but that didn’t mean he was absolutely stupid. Anybody with half a brain knew that each one of these Pokemon before him had different needs, and that included food. The human heard no complaints as everyone ate happily, and swiftly. None of the creatures had been hasty, or rude about it yet... but they were starving just as much as Howie was earlier. Something was off though. While the whole team was eating, a Wild Beast revealed itself up out of nowhere.
At first glance, most people wouldn’t recognize a Sandyghast if it snuck up on them like this... and it left the young man a bit perplexed. What gave it away was a small red shovel on top of it’s head, and the fact that it took a bite right out of Samantha’s food dish. That pissed her off real good. However, that wasn’t the only taker... a big pink Slowbro came crawling up out of the water, and announced her presence with a roar of a yawn. If Howard had been a betting man, he’d guess that giant thing wanted in on this lunch he was serving up. This pokemon was creeping closer to Fiesta’s meal, but he wouldn’t be fast enough to get there. Nope. There was already another fight on, and the only one who didn’t bother to quit eating was Ladybird. She was being a real stubborn avian, and didn’t want to help out the team this time. Luckily it was going to be an even match up instead of a massive brawl.
Emolga was first to make a move, and used a Quick Attack on the sluggish Slowbro that was still invading with heavy steps. Needless to say it barely left a scratch. Next up, Howie’s dog just instinctively went for a Crunch on her sandy opponent, and succeeded greatly. The ghostly little think shrieked with horror, and in retaliation flung grime all over by slamming the ground underneath itself. This damaged Howard’s Houndour with a super-effective Bulldoze, and that had that had to hurt pretty damned bad! “That was really good you guys, keep it up. Fiesta use that Discharge move like last time.. and Houndour try using a Sucker Punch! That should be enough if we want to try to catch these guys,” cheered Samson, “This will be our last pull of the day, then we can all go back home, and rest up good. Light em’ up!”
Thunder beamed off of the gray shell of the Slowbro, but couldn’t find anything to attach itself to besides Samantha. She was a victim of circumstance, but didn’t take anywhere near the same amount of damage as the last attack dealt to the dog. Before that ghostly hunk of sand had a chance to react again, the tamed Houndour followed orders by kicking down roughly at the Pokemon before it had a chance to attack. Another tough blow that made the little thing squeal in pain, but it wasn’t done. Sandyghast still had a couple tricks up it’s sleeve, and Howard was just about to learn that he needs to be a lot more careful in the future. The pile of sand used a strong technique known as Earth Power, and made the beach underneath Samantha explode with energy. It only took a second, but it completely knocked Howie’s first Pokemon out of the battle. “Oh my god.... I’m... what?” Howard didn’t know what to say, he really thought he was going to come out of this one running strong too. That wasn’t the case. Sandyghast was a ground-type, and that posed a danger to both pokemon that were on the field. With nothing more than a nudge, he pushed Ladybird forward, and removed her bowl of food from in front of the creature. “Go, you gotta step in, and help Fiesta. Focus on the big one, I think I can catch the smaller target already, and I don’t want to risk losing it prematurely,” The trainer spoke aloud calmly, and he didn’t receive any defiance. Without question, suddenly Ladybird was on task.
His Emolga had the same strategy, hit that big one as hard as she could with a Discharge attack. Sparks burst off of all three pokemon, but it didn’t knock the Fletchling out by any means. Still somehow the Sandyghast remained unaffected by any of the electric blasts. Fletchling struck the enemy second with it’s beak, and did just a tiny amount of damage to the watery tank. Suddenly though, the shelled creature’s eyes glowed in a strange purple color.. before bursting forward in a surprising bit of speed. Fiesta was becoming weirdly sleepy from the previous Yawn attack, and was unable to escape the brunt force of Slowbro’s Zen Headbutt attack.
All the while, Howard was busy watching the scene unfold behind the glare of his blue-tinted glasses, and readying up a couple more Pokeballs for the occasion. He was so lost in the fight that was happening, he barely even noticed when a rogue Psyduck strolled up behind him with a funky little dance. He lifted a finger, almost as if to tell the tiny yellow creature to wait just a moment... “Oooh, I’ll be right back little buddy, lemme just take care of all this back here,” Howie whispered, and then without warning anybody at all flung two different kinds of Pokeballs forward. One was of the normal variety, and the other was yet another Ultraball. These two wild ones were tough, damn tough. Hell they even knocked out Sambo, his prized pokemon! They’d be great additions to the team. Unfortunately though, when Howie did turn back to where the dancing Psyduck was... it was gone. In it’s place was a single minty blue/green egg. How strange? Was he going to keep finding these all over the place?

Today had been a very long day for himself, and his team.. but one that was well worth it. He gave all his Pokemon a smile, and sadly recalled his fainted Houndour. Howie needed to get back to town, heal up, and then get ready for that dinner his Dad was cooking back at home. The sun that was once high up in the sky, was starting to lower out over the coast now.. and the young man stood there smiling with both his bird, and mouse friends. After a few minutes of gazing at the view, he retrieved the pokeballs up off the ground, and tucked them both away safely in his bag. A sense of satisfaction washed over him, and Howard motioned for his buddies to follow behind him. “What a great day guys, thanks for your help with everything. I’m gonna get you all patched up, and then we’ll head back to my house. You’re gonna love it,” The rookie told them assuringly, "I'll see you guys in a little while, okay?" With that, a pair of red lights absorbed the two tuckered out Pokemon, and Howie excitedly picked up the pace just a bit.
As he moved up the dunes, and back closer to town... he startled an odd pairing of animals. One looked like a giant barnacle, and ran as soon as it sighted Howard, and the other was a blue mouse that scuttled along after it’s friend. That wild Marill stopped to look back though, and even waved a chubby little hand at the trainer, before disappearing further back towards the waves. How odd. That wasn’t the first friendly little guy he’d seen today, and something told him there would be more as time went on. Something sparkly caught his eye where the Pokemon had been standing though, a sparkly little orange egg. Was there going to be more of these too? -Collecting Orange Egg-
