It was just days away from the performance and Michi was a bundle of nerves. Her appeal had gone well except for a few minor hiccups but those had blended into the show well enough that hopefully nobody noticed. It had been fun though, even though there had been quite a lot of moving parts. The appeal hadn't turned out exactly like he'd planned but everyone seemed to like it at least. Still, Michi knew that she needed to practice while she still had a chance and thus had gone to a quiet area not too far from the festival. That and she was still nervous about battling. When Michi heard that she was going to be battling a gym leader of all people well... she might have started panicking.
"Maybe if I just... work on my battle skills. Yeah, how hard can it be?" Michi mused. Battling wasn't her strength, and Michi knew it all too well. The fact that it was going to be part of the final score? Well, the pressure was very real considering her fans seemed to expect a lot from her after unexpectedly winning the Valentine's Day mini contest. That had been a lot of fun but the added stress Michi was feeling because of that was making it harder to just have fun during this contest as well. Coordinating still was fun of course but well, it just meant there was a lot more people rooting for her to succeed. That wasn't a bad thing per say but well... Michi was working harder than she'd ever had before.
Alright, don't panic. If only it was that easy. If she could just calm down and relax, it would be so much easier to work on battling. Well, for now she could work on battling. "Alright guys, come on out!" Michi said cheerfully, releasing a few of her Pokemon to practice some of the moves. She wanted to do a lot more challenging combinations this time but she wasn't entirely sure how to do it.
"Right. So the performance is a few days away and the battle isn't too far away either. We need to work super hard to keep the momentum up. Astra, can you show Dreamy how to lift me up?" A nod of sorts from the Starmie had Michi smiling as Astra used Telekinesis and lifted her up, allowing her to do a few summersaults in the air before setting her back down again. "Alright, Dreamy! Your turn now~," Michi chimed. The Musharna in question nodded as he tried to mimic what Starmie had done. This time however, Michi was lifted much higher into the air which elicited an alarmed cry.
"C-careful Dreamy! Not so high!" Michi protested and tried to move back down. Dreamy quickly tried to lower Michi which effectively had her hitting a nearby tree branch. Owww... who knew practicing could be so dangerous.

Festivals were nothing new for Nox. There had been an annual Harvest Festival in Wisteria Town that he had more or less enjoyed. The most recent one, however, had been little more than a painful reminder of the relationship he'd built with someone starting the previous year at that very festival. And then that someone had left and not returned. They'd kept in contact for awhile but eventually the contact had dwindled and Nox had been unable to reach his lover. It wasn't unusual to be able to get a hold of Karjan, of course. The man often disappeared into ruins where phone service was limited and didn't resurface until he needed to. But days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months and he'd heard nothing from Karjan. When he'd been injured in the line of duty, no one had been able to reach him and Nox had suffered through his injury and recovery alone.
And now he was here. He'd left his life in Eden behind to try and start over here in Veria. And what was the first thing he was assigned to do? Patrol this Starlight Festival for signs of illegal activity and keep an eye out for the strange creatures known as 'Ultra Beasts' as one had, apparently, been sighted in relation to the Festival. All the information he had, however, seemed more like rumor and speculation than actual fact. Still, if he was told to be on the lookout for these creatures, he would do it. It was his duty as a ranger to be sure the people and pokemon of Veria were safe. So, with Noire and Sorey at his side like they always were, the ranger patrolled the outskirts of the festival area keeping an eye out for anything unusual.
As he walked, a voice caught his attention from further ahead. The voice didn't sound distressed so he didn't think much of it aside from wondering what someone was doing away from the primary festival attractions. Since he was heading in that direction anyway, it would't hurt to just check things out and make sure everything was fine. What he saw was, admittedly, difficult to describe at first. A young woman seemed to be floating in midair while a Starmie and a Musharna stood (or floated in the case of the Musharna) nearby. The girl spoke, seemingly addressing one of the pokemon as 'Dreamy' and saying she was too high. Whichever pokemon was holding her up attempted to bring her back down to the ground but ended up knocking her into a tree branch on the way. Nox gave a sympathetic wince and changed course to see what was going on and make sure the girl was okay. "That looked like a bit of a wild ride. Are you alright?" He questioned once he was within a polite speaking distance.
