Welcome one Welcome all to the first Veria tournament! Testing our new battle system and a tournament layout alike! All participants who succesfully make it to the end of their first match will earn 25 muns for participating directly from my own funds, so please put your best foot forward and help us see if this can work out!
The rules for the first round are simple. No Z moves, no Mega evolving, and only 1 Pokemon each. Both participants should separately send me the Pokemon they choose to use for their match in a PM, and when I have confirmed receiving both choices, I will allow the match to start. (This is to prevent someone choosing an electric type cause their opponent sent out a water type first).
If a participant takes longer than 5 days to reply, the other may PM me to try and sort things out and get things moving. If this remains a consistent issue without cause, we may decide a winner by disqualification.
(Also bare in mind we will be using the official battle calc)
This match will be between:

It was a bright and sunny day, and as Yukata Aojiha had been walking on his way to the arena for the first tournament in his life, he was debating to himself in his mind whether to send out Star Emperor, his best Pokemon, or Foreman, the Timburr he had managed to catch a few days earlier. While he wanted to show the world the great strength of his bird, he did have to admit that if he threw out the Bird that he could end up getting hurt. But on the other hand, if he sent out his Timburr, then he was not sure if Foreman would cooperate with him.
Eventually, after a bit of thinking, Yukata had decided that it would be best to send out Foreman, since while he was unsure of how cooperative that the young Pokemon would be, he did admit that the Pokemon's power was nothing to doubt, considering what had happened when it threw a stone at Star Emperor. Throwing Foreman out, Yukata said to the Pokemon "Now you better listen to me during that fight, and at least try to win, because I need the prize by the end of this to go to Unova. Other wise, you are going to become really familiar with the move Brave Bird. Got that?"
Upon seeing the Timburr shake his head yes in fear, Yukata patted his head before trying to guide him all the way to the arena grounds. As he prepared the Timburr for battle, he could see the other trainer, some unknown woman to him named Akira, getting ready for the match. After a bit of time, once he was done giving training to his Timburr, Yukata demanded him to get in position to be ready for the fight, leaving Foreman in a position where his wooden log was tied to his back and ready to be pulled out for attacks much like a pole.
Turning to the other trainer, Yukata called to her before saying to the trainer "Ah, you must be Akira, my opponent for this round I presume? Well it's not gonna easy for you this round, cause I will be having this Pokemon be acting to it's full potential. Come and face me, if you dare!" As Yukata said those words, he made sure to try to remember his Timburr's moves, so that he could use them most effectively.

Akira smiled as she entered the arena. It'd been a long time since she entered a tournament like this. Even if it was a fairly small one. To be honest, she wasn't even particularly interested in whatever prize was being offered to the winner, though that didn't mean she wasn't planning to give it her all. She was simply here for the battle and nothing else. Either way, as she stepped out, she spotted who she assumed to be her opponent, apparently speaking to his Pokemon, though she couldn't hear what he was saying from where she was.
It was then that she noticed what the Pokemon was. "...damn. I knew I should've gone with Angel...oh well. It's not like I haven't dealt with Fighting-types before." Blinking as the other trainer called out to her, she smiled at his rather bold declaration. Well, he wasn't kidding when he said it wasn't going to be easy, but nevertheless, she was still prepared to give it her all. With a nod, she grabbed a Poke Ball, and sent out her Pokemon of choice for the round. From within the red and white orb emerged...a Togedemaru.
The small Pokemon looked around excitedly, ready and raring to go. And to her opponent, Akira had but one thing to say. "Ready when you are. I'm not holding back, so you better not either!"

Immediately upon seeing the female trainer send out Togedemaru and responding to his greeting, he chuckled a bit in his mouth, before giving a full-on wicked laugh and saying to her Ahahaha! Me, hold back? Lady, I am certainly sure your holding back, considering you sent out a Steel Type to deal with a Fighting Type, and especially a cute little Togedemaru at that!" Now I'm certain that I'll win this first round!"Once he had finished saying this, Foreman finally noticed the Togedemaru that he was going to face, and after sighing in relief, he quickly pulled out his timber log, ready to begin. Waiting for the announcer to announce the beginning of the match, Yukata quickly finished memorizing his Timburr's moves, before giving one last glare at the other trainer, ready to fight. After another minute, the announcer said "The third match of the first round, between Akira Mikan, Ex-Gym Leader of Sinclair City Gym, and Yukata Aojiha of Pahala City! Get ready for a spectacle, as it is now time to fight!"While he was a bit shocked of the woman being a former gym leader, Yukata quickly remembered that she had made a very poor decision to send out a Togedemaru, and as such he quickly regained his composure. Sending his Timburr out, Foreman quickly began to rush at the Togedemaru to try to hit it with his wooden log, in order to try to send the Pokemon flying. As he continued to try to hit the Togedemaru though, Yukata noticed that the Steel-Type was mostly avoiding the Timburr rather than being hit. After a bit of thinking, Yukata quickly formulated a idea, before saying to his Timburr "That's it, time to end this fast. Foreman, use Hammer Arm!" Upon hearing his trainer's orders, Foreman quickly used his wooden log to launch himself into the sky, before charging his fist with a white energy. By the time he was beginning to fall, the Timburr quickly began to wind his fist back, ready to deliver a powerful blow against the Togedemaru by hitting it from above.

Well then. This guy sure was full of himself, wasn't he? Nine times out of ten, Akira didn't particularly care if she won or lost the battle, and this tournament was no exception; for her, it was more about the fun of the battle itself. But she was willing to make an exception if it meant taking this guy down a peg or two. It was one thing to be confident in your both your abilities as a trainer and those of your Pokemon. But clearly, this guy had never learned one of the most important rules in all of Pokemon battling; never underestimate your opponent.
"You know as well as I do that we picked our Pokemon before the start of the battle; I had no way of knowing you'd be using a Fighting-type. Doesn't matter though. I've dealt with plenty of trainer's like you who think they've got a win in the bag just because they have a type advantage. Trust me when I say this won't be going down as easily as you think." And with that, the battle began. It started out with the Timburr flailing harmlessly with its club, all of it way too easy for her Togedemaru to avoid. It was only once the trainer stepped in that she started to worry.
Hammer Arm. A fairly powerful Fighting move, one that a few of her Pokemon knew themselves. the force required to fully execute the move was taxing, however, and user of the move always ended up moving a little slower as a result. For some of the tankier Pokemon like Aggron, this wasn't a problem, but for others, it could be an issue. That said, she couldn't afford to let that move hit. "Mr. Needlemouse, use Iron Tail to block the attack, then immediately follow through with a Zing Zap! Don't give him any room to breathe!"
The Togedemaru responded instantly; first, jumping up as the Timburr drew near, his tail letting out a bright glow as he spun around to have it collide with the Timburr's fist. It wasn't going to inflict any damage, but the sheer force should hopefully stagger the Fighting-type just enough to cancel out the move. He wasn't done there, though. He then curled up into a spiky ball, spinning rapidly while simultaneously generating a large amount of electricity. From there, he'd attempt to ram straight into the Timburr in hopes of damaging him.

Having been blocked by a Iron Tail, Foreman had ended up being launched back into the air, and as he fell closer to the ground, he ended up using his staff in order to land on the ground safely. Realizing that his attack was deflected, and that the Togedemaru was coming toward him at full speed, Foreman began to panic, trying to quickly think of something to do in order to avoid being electrocuted. Eventually, after a quick moment of thinking, Foreman decided to use his wooden log to try to knock the Togedemaru to the side, in order to deflect her through a Low Sweep into a wall, or at least to stop the Togedemaru from shocking him. Meanwhile with Yukata, he was impressed when he saw his Timburr acting with pure instinct to try to avoid being shocked by the Togedemaru's Zing Zap, and as he returned his focus to the former Gym Leader, he said to her "Are you so sure that something like that is true? Look ma'am, for normal trainers who think that if they have a type advantage they would lose due to their inexperience. But me, I take time to learn my Pokemon, and what they can do in battle. You may see me as inexperienced and narcissistic, but I can assure you that I know a lot more about fighting then I let on."As he continued to watch the battle, Yukata had ended up seeing the Togedemaru being launched into the wall by Foreman's deflection, although to his surprise the Steel Type appeared mostly unharmed. Continuing his assault on the Togedemaru, Foreman grabbed out his wooden log, trying to swing it at Mr. Needlenose only to be blocked by the latter's tail for most of the time. As the two continued to fight, Foreman ended up trying to learn of the Togedemaru's movements as it fought, to try to learn how to get a free shot on the Steel Type. After a bit, Yukata eventually got another idea, and as quickly as he got it, he called out to Foreman, saying to the Timburr "Hold on. I think I have a idea, so before you attack more, I demand you use Bulk Up." Upon hearing this order, Timburr quickly stopped trying to hit the Togedemaru, before jumping a big distance backward to give himself some space. Once he had that free space however, he began focusing his energy as his body's muscles growed quickly on it's own, due to the Bulk Up strengthening the Timburr's muscles.

Akira let out a sigh as she listened to the guy. So he's not just some amateur, then. Sure as hell could have fooled her with the way he was gloating earlier. More importantly though, that Bulk Up was getting worrying. Nevermind the Timburr's Attack. If he kept raising his Defense, it wasn't going to matter how much she's able to avoid taking any damage; not if she's unable to dish it out. Sad to say, given his rather poor Special Attack, a move like Thunderbolt or Discharge wouldn't be an option either. She could already tell this was going to get dicey.
"Mr. Needlemouse, let's try to cut off its movements options. Use Thunder Wave!" The Togedemaru nodded, creating a static-y jolt of electricity and shooting it at the Timburr. Even if it didn't inflict any real damage, it would still, hopefully, leave them paralyzed. If all went well, this would make it harder for them to attack and give Akira and Mr. Needlemouse some much-needed breathing room. But she wasn't done yet. "Now, attack with Zing Zap again! Don't hold back!" The Togedemaru nodded, using the same attack he used previously.

As Foreman continued to Bulk Up, he had used it for a second time in a row to further increase his power, only to be hit square in between the eyes by a Thunder Wave, shortly followed by being rammed at in full force by a Zing Zap, his body stunned from the Thunder Wave and unable to being able to dodge it. Slowly trying to get up from the big combo, the Timburr was a bit nervous at continuing to attack, but as he turned back to Yukata his master gave him a scary glare, scaring the Fighting Type into rushing at the Togedemaru and being unable to hit the Steel Type due to the slowness that came from being Paralyzed. Looking at the other trainer, Yukata was slightly impressed by how she was able to combo the Thunder Wave into using the same attack once again, but he was also angry at her since she was able to land a major blow to his chances of winning. "Well I must admit ma'am, you are doing a impressive job in staying in the long battle, but not only do I have the type advantage, I can guess from how your Togedemaru acted earlier that he must have been scared in being hit by that Hammer Arm I tried to attack you with earlier. Hmm... I wonder what would happen if that did hit? Would this match have ended much quicker then it had been before? I guess we'll never know."During the next 30 seconds, Timburr had been continuing to try to hit Togedemaru, only to be able to get one tiny blow to the Steel Type during the entire time. Frustrated at the inability to hit the Togedemaru, Yukata said to the Fighting Type "Stop trying to hit that Togedemaru with your stupid club you idiot! Just try to pin the mouse with it, then hit it as strong as you can!" Upon hearing those words, Foreman quickly stopped trying to blindly attack the Togedemaru, before trying to think of how to attack the Pokemon. After a few minutes of thinking, Foreman eventually came up with a idea, before quickly springing out for fighting. Rushing at the Togedemaru to seemingly try to attack it once again, Foreman instead used his wooden log and hit it on the ground to launch himself in the air once again. As he fell back down, he tried to land on the Togedemaru's tail, eventually landing and getting the Steel Type's tail pinned to the ground with his wooden log. Pleased with the Timburr's smart thinking, Yukata said to the Timburr "Wow, now that was a really smart way of thinking, and I didn't even need to tell you. Maybe I won't use you as Brave Bird practice for Star Emperor if you lose. Wait no, can't let myself get distracted, so just hit him with your Hammer Arm already!"Foreman | Timburr | Iron Fist | HP: 68% |
