Kai snickered slightly as the kid specified he wasn't taking the non-offer. 'No homo' there much? Ha. An eyeroll followed as he proclaimed a distaste for karaoke. Okay Edgy McSadsack, you could hate fun at this age if you wanted. Kai remembered how it was, eheh.
Ears all but perked as he mentioned a Pokemon, though. "Oh?" What a good boy. Or girl. What a good dog.
Ty? Ha. "Kai," he responded, amused by the rhyme. "I gotta ask, you're not one of those Fallers are you? Because if it turns out you're some younger alternate universe version of me I might need to kick your ass now and save us both some trouble." Couldn't have mini-Kai growing up into a more of a sadsack than he already seemed to be.

Ty smiled lightly at the mention of Blazer. It was the one constant in his life; that Arcanine would never leave him. Not willingly, anyway. "Yeah. I've always been a sucker for the fire types, but since I've gotten here, I've gotten different types. So, maybe Veria is changing me already," he said with a dry chuckle.
He shook his head at the Faller question. "Pretty sure I'm not," he answered, chuckling lightly. "Though, I'd share the same sentiment if I ever met an alternate version of myself, so I can't exactly blame you there. But no, I'm not, to my knowledge, a younger version of you."
Running a finger idly over his scar, he thought a moment. "Though...if you know of anything, I probably should start looking for work," he mused after a moment.

"Ah, damn," Kai feigned, intentionally unconvincing. Wasn't every day you'd get a chance to kick your younger self's ass for fucking you over, but it wasn't like he actually expected it, despite how equally amused and concerned he was for how much the kid gave him that Vibe.
Oh? Or maybe not if he wanted work advice, ha. Kai was always pretty heavy on that Patriotism train and never gave much thought to other work. "Afraid I don't know of much. What's your skill level? Education?" A hint of a smirk emerged. "Probably more useful knowledge that what kind of liquor you prefer, eh?" Speaking of, Kai downed a fair bit more of his.

Ty should have known that job crack was a bad idea; now the guy was actually trying to help, which meant he was asking more personal questions. "I was home schooled, nothing really beyond that," he explained with a shrug. Technically it wasn't a lie, though his 'home' was a more nomadic lifestyle, and his schooling was more learning how to survive. But it sounded a lot better than 'No formal education' would have, at least.
"Skill level, I've done mostly odd jobs, to be honest. Right now, since I'm so new to the area anything would be a fresh start." Again, Ty's words gently danced around the truth, since 'thief' and 'conman' weren't things he was going to admit to. He was fresh off the ship; no need in confessing to a criminal lifestyle already.

Kai could tell that Ty was dancing around something, but all things considered he simply assumed he'd hit a bit of a nerve, and/or that Ty was a bit self-conscious about his homeschooling. He was hardly going to judge, though. It wasn't like kids got any say in that. Still, that did put a bit of a damper on options, didn't it?
"Mmm. Something minimum wage is probably your easiest bet in that case, unfortunately," he admitted. Not wanting to just end on that though, he went on, "Though you might look around for any tradesmen looking for help. Trade jobs will often train apprentices and can lead to good income later on."
