With Seraph dealing with a lot of crap lately, Shaun hadn't been too eager to bug him for that meal he'd offered. He did say it was a "if you're in town" thing anyway, and with Seraph's brother being in a damn coma, something he was cautious to even ask about (like seriously how the fuck does that just happen? Couldn't have been out on the guy's job if the news wasn't spread immediately) Shaun was just generally eager to give Seraph his own space. Like, sure, if the guy wanted his company he'd happily offer it, he wasn't heartless, but if he needed time to just be alone and visit his family, Shaun wasn't gonna push himself on the guy.
Right now though, it seemed Seraph was actually in town. A few texts back and forth had left them making plans to meet up on his boat, Shaun sending a google maps snap of it rather than just saying where he was parked since not many people knew the dock names if they weren't locals.
Shaun had promised he'd cook up some fresh fish if Seraph visited, so right now he was preparing for that, pulling a few of his own personal catches out of a freezer box and laying them over his cutting board. Sure his boat was a bit cramped and, sometimes, not the most hygenic of places, but Shaun made do, and he was always sure to have a clean up when he was actually expecting guests, so the usual underwear and old clothes laying over the couch were all tossed into a pile in the bedroom section of the boat. The kitchen had a wipe down, enough that no one could worry the food was gonna be infected with something.
(Yumi was going to detail Shaun preparing the fish but felt that'd be gross to SG so 83)
With the fish mostly cut up, Shaun scraped the board out into a bowl. He wasn't sure if he was gonna spice it up or just cook it yet, but for now he at least had things ready so he could just stick it in a pan and start cooking. He looked away from the bowl for a second to check his spices when the sound of his totodile's butt hitting the floor caught his attention, stomping a foot and watching the tiny pokemon rush off with half the bowl of fish stuffed in it's gullet.
"Oi! Don't expect a big meal tonight now!" Of course he couldn't be too mad, and he had enough fish left for a small meal, but still, he sometimes regretted keeping all his Pokemon out. With a sigh he walked past about 5 of them squeezed together on the couch watching TV, pushing his way up to the deck of his boat to try and keep an eye out for his expected guest.

Hahahaha... yeah... Seraph happened to be in town. At least that sure was what he'd told Shaun, like a dumbass. That he just happened to be in town for no adequately explained reason.
It wasn't because he'd nervously been thinking about this offer pretty regularly for the past month-ish or whatever it had been, especially more lately as he'd started to accept Thomas's condition and other things started getting more prominent in his mind again.
It certainly wasn't because he kept thinking of how nice it felt to lie in the grass and look at the clouds together. That would be a pretty dumb thing to focus on, wouldn't it?
His short shorts and low tank-top were because it was pretty hot out today, nothing special. His not binding today was just a comfort issue, knowing Shaun of all people didn't need him to 'look' the part to recognize him as he was and taking that opportunity to let his skin breathe. His side ponytail and more feminine than masculine makeup for a change was--...... was because fuck you that's why.
HHHHHHHHHH he was going to make an idiot of himself and regret this he just knew it. Actually as the boat came into view, he immediately stopped and reached into his pocket, considering saying something came up an he couldn't make it... until he noticed Shaun was outside, and had probably seen him already. Shit maybe he wouldn't recognize-- green and red two-tone hair yeah okay Seraph.
H H H H H H H welp, nothing to do but approach, force a nervous smile, and wave. "H--hey," he called when he was close enough.

Ruck, remembering something Yumi had forgotten to set up in her previous post and would try not to forget generally this time, spotted his trainer coming out from below deck and the messy blonde streaks in his hair, flying over to the controls and scooping up an old baseball cap that was a bit worn and torn from over the years. Swooping in he just plonked it on Shaun's head, leaving the sailor a bit dazed from the force it was placed on his head with, looking up and catching the rim with his eye, taking a second to fully realize what Ruck was doing.
"...Oh shit right!" Shoving the loose strands of hair up into his cap, his ponytail having some dimmer streaks that could be passed off as just a trick of the light most of the time. Shaun wasn't usually the kind to get embaressed but with the idea he'd had when trying to dye his hair compared to the random splotchy mess he'd ended up with...yeeeah he wasn't too happy with it to say the least.
Still, he had some company coming around. While Seraph was weirdly freaking out about seeing him today Shaun was eager himself, albeit a lot more casual. He had a few good friends of his own but...Seraph was the only one who shared his personal issues. Not exactly the same of course, but...he couldn't quite place it. On one hand Shaun felt he could talk about it freely with someone who understood, but at the same time, it was already understood, so it didn't have to be a big deal like it did with others.
Whatever the case, Seraph's internal monologue was right, and Shaun managed to catch that green red mix very easily, waving over for a moment, before running over to the side of the boat and opening up a small section of the boat's railing, kicking down the plank he used for people who didn't wanna climb the ladder on the side.
"All aboard mate!~" Shaun was grinning, maybe a little weirdly giddy to have company on his boat, leaning on the railing as he welcomed seraph aboard, tipping the rim of his cap. "If I dare say you're lookin' pretty cute today bud.~"

You're lookin' pretty cute today, bud. A small high-pitched sound of mixed nature resounded in Seraph's head. Some part of him hoped for a stronger reaction, but another part had dreaded the same thing. This immediate and energetic yet so casual response was?? sO???? He hoped his face didn't show his flusteredness too much.
He put on a smile, fighting to keep it from looking too awkward, to keep his voice pretty even. "Heh, thanks~" So far so good as he started up the plank. Rubbing the back of his neck, he did his best to pass his nervous grin off as a cheesy one and explained, "I know it was a joke if you wanted to see me like this you should buy me dinner, but I fig--YOOF" Yup he was tripping on the end of the plank as he boarded, silky smooth job asshole, yup feeling weirdly slow-mo falling here fuck. Better yet was whether Shaun caught him or not he knew he was gonna be pretty equally embarrassed, yay.

Shaun rested an elbow on the railing at the edge of his boat, crossing one leg across the other where he stood and smirking at Seraph as he walked his way up the plank, offering a hand out for that last step as he got close and smirking at his line of thought. Of course he never got to hear the end of that sentance as Seraph tripped into him, Shaun more than a little surprised himself, but he had some pretty good reaction times from all the shit that could go wrong working out at sea. He dipped back, holding one of Seraph's hands as the other supported his back against him, lingering in a brief moment of awkward silence as he looked down at him before chuckling out loud.
"What, figured since you were already falling for me ya might as well?~"
Of course to Shaun that was entirely just playful joshing, helping Seraph find his own feat again and briefly brushing a hand over the stomache of his outfit, he wasn't dusty or anything but hey if TV had taught him anything that was just something you 'did' after someone had a little trip. "Seriously though, wait till I take you out on this thing before you start getting your wobbly sea legs. The hell did you even trip on?~" He snickered a little again and pat Seraph on the shoulder before moving over to the hatch on his boat, gesturing for Seraph to follow. "Come on, hope you don't mind but it might be a bit of a squeezed fit till the Pokemon go out for their swim. They've all gotten into this new show so I'm just lettin' 'em stick around till they're done watching."

IJWIJIFJIOWJIJ-- Seraph's face did go red with all this, but if truth be told it was probably equal parts 'how dare you call me out like this' and a furious 'well I fucking might've been before that god awful pun'. His writer sat flabbergasted that any of her children would not immediately fall for [haha] a pun and quietly urged Seraph to rethink his life choices.
As he found his balance and started to calm down, Shaun asked what he even tripped on. "The-- right there, the--" He gestured toward where the plank met the boat, which was not exactly a major tripping hazard, but at least it wasn't his own feet levels of clumsy. He was also gonna pretend the boat rocked slightly as he stepped on.
But yeah. As he followed Shaun in, the explanation caught his attention. "Oh yeah? What show?"

Shaun slipped the hatch open with his foot, hands resting in his pockets for a moment, glancing over to what Seraph was pointing out, snickering a little at how small the tripping hazard was and rolling his eyes, just assuming Seraph had been a little more clumsy than usual for some reason...not that Shaun had any reason to think he was clumsy normally, but still. "Yeeeah I see~" He rolled his eyes and started making his way down the ladder, stepping to it's side and offering Seraph a hand down the last rung or two. As always Shaun's place was a little messy, but hey he'd made at least some effort to clean up the loose clothes, though the way his pokemon were all squeezed together on the couch probably added to a sort of messy element of the room.
"I don't really know? I think it's some kid's gameshow." If Seraph looked the TV clearly seemed to have hints of that, some guy in a suit holding cards with kids behind a panel. "They don't even get most of it, but there's this section of the show were a kid or one of the adults gets dunked if you get a question right I think? They get really excited for it for some reason." He just shrugged and smirked, moving past them, none of them really complaining about the obstructed view since their favorite part wasn't on screen at the moment. "But hey so long as it ain't that weird adventure time crap like last year I won't complain."
He ruffled the fluff atop his floatzel's head as he passed into the kitchen. "Sorry about the mess by the way, don't get guests much so my perception of 'clean' ain't really that well defined ya know?"

"Huh." He didn't recognize the show, but it was cute the Pokemon loved it so much. So long as it ain't that weird Adventure Time crap caught his attention, though. He started to open his mouth, but Shaun's apology beat him.
"Oh! Uh-- No you're fine, I didn't notice." He did now. Seraph tended to keep his place pretty tidy, at home and work both, but this wasn't like.. unbearable at least. So Shaun didn't need to be validated in his concern heh.
"Adventure Time's not all bad though," he noted, leaning back against a clear spot of the kitchen counter and propping himself a bit with his elbows. "I never got much into it but I had some friends who were so they showed me some of the plottier stuff. From what I gather it's just kind of a shame it wasn't more like that, but I guess there are other shows to be fully plotty like that now huh?" He looked around the kitchen as he talked. Seemed Shaun had already started prep before he got here.

"Mmm. Maybe." He shrugged off the talk about adventure time, he tended to keep himself busy a lot so he didn't have much time to dedicate himself to shows that had some long running plot. He preferred shows like House which had an issue of the week, or cartoons like titans go where he could just switch his brain off and enjoy some mindless comedy and cartoons but...eh. "To each their own I guess really...I mean I can't even get into that game of thrones crap everyone's on about. I mean, they everyone was going on about dragonite a few years back and I had no idea what all the fuss was about!"
Snickering a little at how out of the loop he was with that stuff, he gave the fish he'd left cooking a nudge, the bowl totodile had ended up snatching from just left to one side, Shaun having decided it was probably best just to leave that lot for the Pokemon. "This is almost done so it shouldn't take too long...oh er..." He waved a hand towards the opposite side of the kitchen. "Open up one of the windows or the whole place is gonna stink more than it already does." One of Shaun's Pokemon cried out from the livingroom and he leaned towards the doorway seperating the two sections of the boat. "YEAH IM TALKING ABOUT YOU!~"
With a grin on his face it was clear that was just some good natured joshing, and as his eyes shifted back to Seraph just as they were done opening the window, he offered a warm smile and pointed the spatula at them. "Hey er...know I was teasin' before, but ya do look pretty nice. I er..." He gestured vaguely before coming out with. "Going by 'she' today or? I mean I ain't exactly one to judge. Gotta let yourself breathe in this weather, boy or girl, right?"

Seraph chuckled lightly at Shaun's Dragonite commentary. "Same honestly." He liked a solid plot, but Game of Thrones never really did it for him. And certain characters put weird thoughts in his head he didn't really like to think about especially now so yeah fuck that show.
As he got the window, he snickered a bit at the exchange between Shaun and the Pokemon. It was a shame it was too cramped in here for his, but ah well.
Hm?? "T--thanks, heh.." Going by 'she' today or?...!?! Seraph's face flushed. "Wh-- no I--." Don't get upset, c'mon, deep breaths. Was Shaun one of the folks he'd told he technically only felt maybe 90% male? He was pretty sure he was, and even then he was proof himself that gender feelings could change over time, so.. That was a fair question, and an innocent one. "Nah, I'm still always a guy." That was a consistent 'close enough', not a '90% of the time' thing.
He rubbed one arm nervously, averting his gaze. "I just... thought you'd like it is all." Not that I care that much what you think, he mentally defended.
...Dear fucking Arceus I'm becoming a tsundere. Let's not brain.

Chuckling a little as Seraph agreed with him about the dragonite crap on game of thrones, he rolled his eyes and tried to remember back when his band was talking about it. They were all just drinking after a little bit of a sing in the pub and they were going on and on about how exciting a dang dragonite showing up was. The fact it burned someone alive sounded pretty rad but even then...
Focusing on Seraph though since the question about his gender, Shaun got the feeling asking had sorta put the lad on edge, but he seemed to handle it just about well enough. With a soft smile, he reached back with a free hand and just ruffled the hair atop his head. "No worries mate I was just checkin'. Know a mate who can sorta shift one way or the other depending on the day, so seeing you so...well..." He shrugged. "Fuck it, you're cute, and seein' ya like that just made me had to ask.~"
Of course the idea that Seraph was doing it for him came up soon after, and Shaun was just faintly caught off guard by the idea. He briefly just let out an 'errr' as his brain tried to think of what to say. He kinda wanted to ask if this was suddenly considered a date but...Nah. He...no he hadn't hinted at that at all when he'd made the offer so surely Seraph didn't think it was one. His brief bit of staggering just led to a half smile, looking Seraph over before turning his head back to the oven, sliding the freshly cooked fish out onto a cutting board. "Well...ya certainly look nice.~ I'd make a pass at ya if I caught you're cute rosey cheeks in the bar.~"
He half said that to be funny, half to test the waters, wanting to make sure Seraph and he were actually on the same page here and paying attention to the reaction there.

"Yeah no you're fine," Seraph assured him regarding the need to ask. "Lot better to make sure than just assume, right? Even if it's kind of awkward sometimes." After all, a little awkwardness never killed anyone, right?
... Right??? Seraph might have to question that after Shaun's next little bit. He forced out a rather unconvincing laugh and... ha... "Uh...." Right um. What did he even... "I'm gonna be honest dude I don't even know what to say to that." A thought that might have been employed in a wittier manner occurred a bit too late and he added, "Not that I really drink much, so bars aren't my thing but.. heh..."
Those 'rosy cheeks' got brighter as he admitted, "I mean--.. I do want you to think I'm cute but I don't... know if I want anything else or not?" Fuck that squeak in his voice at the end, ugh.

"Yeah never, and hey best to get that outta the way just incase right?" Shaun didn't have any friends who were gender fluid to really talk from experience, but it seemed like a good way to go about it. If he for, whatever reason, wanted to be seen as a girl for a bit he'd rather get that out there first thing than have some awkward correction in the future. He turned back to the fish for a moment when his last comment seemed to register, and...okay wow where did that tension come from? Shaun had said it to get that out in the air but he hadn't expected the level of tension he'd personally get from it too...
"...Right well...erm..." Opening up the cuttlery drawer, a very messily kept one at that, he nearly blindly rummaged for a knife, a fairly sizeable one to start cutting up the fish for the both of them, sliding the drawer closed and tapping the flat edge of the blade against the cutting board for a moment as he thought of what to say. The squeak in his head was what really did it...he didn't know Seraph too well but that seemed like a sign that this was a serious topic for the boy, at least internally.
Eventually, he just started cutting the fish, a half minute of silence passing unless Seraph interupted it themselves before he'd try to speak again. "Hey erm...if you...figure it out I'm open to...whatever I guess..." he lifted the board just enough to catch the boy's attention. "Till then I'll be makin' us both some tasty fresh fish yeah?"

Seraph, in fact, did not break that silence, nor did he know quite how long it lasted. From his perspective, it was filled with his brain berating him for fucking this up, for making things super awkward, making Shaun uncomfortable. When Shaun finally spoke again, Seraph's attention snapped back in disbelief. "Y-yeah??" Er. Wait.
"Sorry I didn't mean to like..." Whatever he was trying to say?? He suddenly forced an awkward laugh to try to clear the air and shift gears. "Honestly I think a lot of it is just, like? When you uh... cuddled with me in the park before, it was like... really nice? But I dunno if that had anything to do with you or was just because I'm a touch-starved loser." The laugh to follow was at least partially genuine this time.
Scratching a bit at the side of his face nervously, he put on a sheepish smile and asked, "Maybe... snuggling up on the couch and watching something after dinner would be good for research? For science and all."

Shaun was nearly done with the fish, having been working with fish a good few years this was pretty basic to him. Heck it wasn't a professional job but he was probably doing it faster than even a few experienced chefs could, and heck so long as it was edible Shaun wasn't about to be the one complaining about his own presentation.
With Seraph explaining himself Shaun peeked over his shoulder, though he couldn't entirely suppress a light snicker at the words 'touch-starved', but at the very least he entirely managed to avoid making a joke about the wording that could make the situation worse. What did end up coming out though was- "Okay I can't comment on the first part but you certainly ain't no loser okay?" He offered a soft smile of encouragement, leaning up to get into some higher cupboards and pulling out two plates, scraping out the fish equally onto each and dipping into the fridge, pulling out an oily-looking sauce and drizzling a little over each plate.
"Well...I ain't too experienced in snuggles. Don't think I've given anyone more than a 'bro-hug' but you in a while, but like I said." He turned offering the plate out as he held the other in the other hand. "I'm open to it...you er...fine with just fish? I can throw us some fries in if ya need somethin' more."
