Whilst in the wonderfully, winter wonderland, Aleal City. Adriana had learned of the mountainous caverns which surrounded the town and led up into the rocky peaks above.
Just the night prior, whilst drinking a warm cocoa in the Pokémon Center. An olden Hiker had sat down and cried out loudly for all to hear. The mountains were a frozen wasteland of adventure. People had dropped items all over the peaks which were the treasures of the mountain and some of them were mysterious, rare or otherwise interesting.
It definitely seemed like an adventure. An adventure was calling and Adriana was going to answer that call. Even before the sun had risen, Adriana, once again, donned a thick coat, gloves, a massive scarf to drape over herself and snow boots and left, heading east for the lower peaks which led up a long path into the mountains, themselves.
It was admittedly harder work than she had expected, albeit made more difficult by the constant complaints from her partner, Squirtle. She had chosen to leave her Pokéball this time, but only if she could hide inside the thick coat. Sighing to herself, Adriana walked up the mountain, clutching the mound in her coat which was the shivering turtle.
“Come on, out. It’s beautiful out here. Look at that,” she pointed a single gloved hand at the mountain peaks which lay in the distance. Squirtle dropped a few inches but otherwise didn’t budge.
Adriana continued onwards, slowly climbing upwards into the mountain itself. As she climbed, the air seemed to grow thinner but it still wasn’t terribly more difficult. Squirtle began to squirm under the coat as if trying to reposition itself or maybe it was shivering. It was difficult to tell.
Either way, Adri laid hands against the cold shell through the thick coat and rubbed softly as if trying to warm her partner. Squirtle stopped squirming and for the first time since they began to climb, poked her head out. She looked up past Adri and into the sky above. The sky was a stretch of canvas, a mix of several shades of navy blues and purples. It was rather beautiful in a way.
Adri followed suit and looked up at the sky. Just as she did, the remnants of the night flashed across the sky. A singular, bright and brilliant, white-light star flashed for just a second and then vanished from sight. “Woah, a shooting star. Got to make a wish.” Adri closed her eyes and put her gloved hands together and wished. Inside her head, she said the words. The words she had always dreamed.
For a second, she stared up and smiled before putting her hands deep into the pockets and continued to walk. “Brr, it’s getting chilly now. Better get walki--”
Before she could continue. Something fell from above. From the clifftop above something fell right onto Adri’s head. It would have knocked her to the floor if it wasn’t so light and tiny. The something was a tiny star-shaped, pink creature. It blinked softly and looked up at Adri. Adri looked down at the Cleffa, a little unsure why it had fallen from above although, she was glad it was safe.
“Um, you doing okay?” She asked, a little unsure of what else to ask it. The Cleffa let out a soft chirping noise and shook in her arms, evidently in excitement. Without warning, it jumped on Adri and this time, actually did, knock her down to the soft snow below. A singular Pokéball fell out from her pocket and rolled towards the Cleffa. Before Adri could do anything more than sit up and brush the snow off herself.
Squirtle looked down at the still wriggling Pokéball and said something similar to 'Okay… That was odd. Wasn't it?'
Adri bent over and found an Ice Stone half-buried in the snow. Claiming an Ice Stone.
For another half an hour, Adriana climbed up the mountain, trudging slowly through the snow. The tiny Squirtle still hiding within the confines of her coat. It was starting to grow colder, even more so. Fresh sprinkles raining down from above, covering their footsteps and everything else in a fresh layer of white snow.
It was definitely growing more dangerous as time passed. Soon, it’d be a full-fledged blizzard. But there wouldn’t be time to retreat all the way down the mountain without getting stuck, midway. Adriana continued faster but at a slower rate, as the snow was growing thicker. Thankfully, midway in the rock cliff – a crack which led into a low and narrow cave. “This should keep us safe until the blizzard passes, right?” She asked the lump in her coat which quivered a little.
Slowly, she pushed her self into the crack and then ducked, almost crawling down the passage. It seemed to be growing slightly wider, the further they went. After a few minutes of crawling in the darkness, she found a wide open area. A row of tall stalagmites and stalactites hung from the ceiling or rose from the floor. Otherwise, it was completely flat.
Brisk cold air continued to flow in from the opening in the cave as well as in the distance, an odd gruff, snuffling noise. Slowly, shivering, Adriana moved further along the passage, peering around a tall rock formation. It was curled up in the distance, a great scaled dragon with white feathered wings. Its long neck curled up around its body, wings furled to keep it warmer. Adriana moved backward, not wanting to threaten the dragon or give it a reason to attack her. However, it merely snorted a steam of smoke and laid its head down. “Wow… that’s amazing,” she said to herself.
She slowly moved forwards towards the dragon, laying a hand on the wing. It was immensely soft. For a second, she thought the dragon Pokémon might attack or be enraged but instead it looked at Adriana and wrapped the wing around her. She lay curled up in the warm wing, thankfully warm and hidden from the snow.
For several hours, she was looked after by the dragon. It wouldn’t let her leave, even as she tried to stand up, the wing clamped down upon her and stuck her fast. The snow outside seemed to slow to a trickle of powder after a few hours. Eventually, the dragon let her go. The wing rose and she was freed. “Thank you for keeping us warm,” she told the dragon, patting it softly on the side of its scaled head. It let out a soft snort of smoke.
Adriana turned trying to leave but as she did so, the Dragon held her coat in its mouth. “You don’t want me to go?” She asked it, a little worried about the poor creature. It shook its great head slowly and held fast. “Okay, then… Well. How about, you come along with me? We can be friends if you like?”
The Drampa let go and then slowly followed her towards the exit to the cave. “I guess you do, then?” She held out a hand and on the palm, lay another Pokeball. “Here you go.”
The Drama paused for a second, thinking but then just as she assumed it might not want to join after all. It raised a wing and claw, pressing against the ball. Drampa was drawn within the ball, in a shimmer of white light.
Adri bent over and found an abandoned Z-Charm left in the caves. Claiming an Z-Charm
