Mai just rolled her eyes heavily-- albeit in good nature-- at Mia's little 'compliment'. Granted, she certainly appreciated having the interest of such a fine babe, but she did sort of wish she hadn't called every man in the bar's attention with that little stunt. Ah well.
Thankfully, conversation moved right along. "Two years, huh? You've lasted longer than I ever did then. At least in one go."
Annnnd it seemed she let herself be relieved too soon, as the guy in the seat next to her suddenly butted in. "Scuse me, miss. I don't mean to interrupt, but I was just wonderin'--"
His tone told Mai all she needed to know, and flatly she cut him off. "Sorry, hon, but I'm on her team." Her head tilted slightly toward Mia.
"A--ah, my apologies miss." And he went back to his drink just like that? Really? Wow.
Smirking, Mai turned back to Mia. "You've really got these boys well-trained, huh?" Amazingly-- not that Mai would know as much-- he wasn't even a regular; most of them would know better than to talk to a girl their queen was chatting up. But he still knew the Code of Liggs well enough.

Mia snickered a little to herself as she noticed the eyes she'd managed to grab with that wolf whistle, and ya know what she honestly wasn't regretful. Sure if this woman was lucky enough to be on her side of the fence then it was a bit of a bother, but even then it just meant everyone knew how lucky Mia was to have her on the same side!~ Vice versa, if she was on the other team and Mia had just been drunkenly imagining the flirting, Mia just made sure everyone knew there was a banging hottie from out of town they should definitely be hitting on right this second.
"Two years...fuck somehow hearing it back makes that really daunting...don't think I've even had a booty call that's lasted that lo-" She snapped her fingers and slammed a hand down, pointing at nothing inparticular as she locked onto a thought. "Shannon! 4 years next month...I should make sure she's still free..." Blindly pulling her phone out of her pocket, Mia got through about two swipes before a delayed text alert popped up, quickly turning her phone upside down on the bar and flicking the edge of her empty mug, the ding sound produced a signal for a refill to the bartender.
Glancing across and watching the guy get turned down, Mia didn't really manage to register how timidly he seemed to back off, but was just glad she'd gotten the right first impression of Mai, grinning wide at the comment to her that followed. "Wut can I say? Theys ma' boys!~" She reared her head back and shouted out "SURFACE SCHMURFACE" Well over half the bar, close to 100% just raised their drinks, still enjoying the round Mia had bought them all and echoed back-
"Right on my people!~" Lifting her metal arm into the air she clenched her fist and lowered herself back down into the bar, resting her cheek on her metal forearm and looking up to the woman across from her. "Soooo..." She lightly drummed her fingers on the back of her face down mobile. "That little refusal there mean I'm gettin' lucky tonight or do I get the pleasure of helpin' you find another lucky lady before the night's over...?~"
Pffff. Seemed Mia had Mai beat on the consistent booty call.. uh.. callability? time? whatever, too, heh. Or had she ever gotten close to that, back before she met the dweebs? Maybe. The eight years between finally getting out of the house and making real friends all kind of blurred together if she was honest.
The anti-surface sentiments were a little jarring, but amusing after she got past the initial surprise. It gave her a team comradery vibe, so that was cute, heh.
She rolled her eyes again. "Nah, hon, I told you I didn't come out here for that." Violet eyes slid over to, and up and down, Mia once more and she decided to add, "I mean I guess never say never. I guess I might change my mind with enough drinks and the right cards on the table." Haha card puns.
'Do you honestly think anyone would be interested if they knew what a monster you are?' Oh come the fuck on, she wasn't even looking, let alone for a date. Like people cared when all they were interested in was her looks. Try harder jackass.
"But right now, I just..." She trailed off, then sighed a bit more somberly. "Needed to get out. Too many nights home alone and talking to yourself is the least of your worries." She forced a light chuckle.

Oh, yeah, she had said that huh? Even in her current position she just shrugged at the reminder, lightly bonking her own chin with her shoulder and rubbing her cheek against her folded arms, opening her eyes back up to dazily look at the older woman, smirking all the same as she noticed the way her eyes slid over her and working on pushing her head back up, sipping from her drink. So she was just getting out and about for the opportunity huh? Seemed like a good enough reason but- "Ya ain't local though right? What made ya ride all the way to Liggs?"
Her writer, not wanting to leave it at barely 100 words, had her continue all the same with a light chuckle, folding her arms around her mug and keeping up a strong smile now that they seemed to be moving on from the topic of her relationship with Vesta. "Well whatever the case I can't say I relate. I know this one girl, challenged me like, mooooonths back now. 'parently she lives alone out in the faraday ruins? Dunno how she does it but I've seen her once since and she seems...'relatively' sane. Pretty nervous I guess but I only saw her in passing." She lightly nudged Mai's arm. "Sure yer fine. Just make sure you don't start giving your furniture names and you'll be fine.~"
Mai was mid-drink when Mia asked why Liggs, and by the time she'd swallowed and found her breath, it seemed Mia was especially eager to keep talking. Er, all right then?
...Couldn't say she related to wanting the best bars?? Or??
Oh.. As she kept on Mai finally realized she probably meant couldn't relate to being secluded too long. Sounded like a nice problem to have.
Mai flinched a bit at Mia's nudge. Sure yer fine. What??
She gave in and finally let her eyes follow the shadows running at the edges of her vision for a moment, or tried to, though of course she could never get focus on them just like always. Several voices echoed, you're FINE. Unlike her usual head voice, the loudest here was that of her ex.
You'll be fine~ Mia said. Mai's mouth twitched downward, and her fingers trembled slightly. She forced a smile back on. "I am... not fine..." she said quietly. "I'll live, just.. Please don't assume I'm--..." She shook her head. "Forget it."
She forced that smile a little sweeter. "But hey~ To answer before, I live in Caravella right now, but I heard Under Liggs had the best bars~"

Mia lifted her head back up as Mai was talking, listening carefully as the weight of the words seemed to sober her up just a little, pushing her mug back down even when she was instinctively lifting it to take a sip, laying it down and pushing it to the other edge of the bar so she wasn't AS tempted to while she was listening. She expected Mai to go on for longer, but it seemed to loop back to her first question as she wanted to push past it. Mia smirked a little at the idea that Liggs had such a reputation behind it's bars, but she wasn't so happy about Mai brushing off her issues.
Reaching a hand across she just gently held the back of her hand and offered a hazy smile of her own. "Hey er...don't think you gotta cut out your own issues cause I'm feelin' like shit. Course don't er...feel you NEED to spill the deets or anything just..." Mia shrugged and reached her right hand up, lightly brushing her finger against her earlobe. "Two good ears if ya need 'em."
"Hm?" Huh. Well that wasn't really what Mai had expected from her impression of Mia, was it? Caught somewhere between pleasantly surprised and vaguely annoyed, she simply shrugged. A feather light smile rested on her lips as she nonchalantly explained, "Folks tend not to like me as much once they see past the smoking bod and kickass gaming skills." A light, borderline self-pitying laugh followed. "You're sweet to offer, but I've learned not to get into it."
She took a sip, but then her eyes flashed back open mid sip. Swallowing a bit sooner than intended, she voiced, "Unless.. I suppose if this was a 'misery loves company' thing? If hearing about my relationshit might make you feel better about fighting with your girl?" She shifted a bit, knowing she'd feel awfully silly for offering if that wasn't the case but.. She shrugged to try to lighten it a bit more, assure Mia she was fine either way.
Mia scoffed just a little at the smoking bod comment, and was more interested in the idea of her being a kickass gamer than she'd admit on the spot. A part of her instantly wanting to ask what games she was into but realizing it may not be innately the best time. Listening to her reasoning she kinda understood, but at the same time...well...she'd heard a lot of things that hadn't driven her away soooo...
With the idea of it being a misery loves company, she was tempted to say it was just to get her to spill the beans, but the part of her that'd come up with that plan was lightly covered in a layer of alcohol, and she shook her head fairly openly as she dismissed it. "Nah hun look. You're...I wanna say maybe...2 years older than me?" Mia wasn't sure if she was trying to flatter her, wasn't at all sure of her age, or if she did just look that young right now. "But whatever you've been through in that time...I've looked past worst. If you have baggage and shit, I, of allllllllll people, can get pasts it." Resting her chin down she chuckled and went on to say. "I have friends who constantly need me to bail 'em out, a guy once sexually assaulted me, and now we're somehow best friends, and the second...no...third coolest person i know, excluding family, is dating a literal psychopath."
Clearing her throat, she sat up straight and rested a hand proudly on her chest. "Consider this a 'you may never see me again and I ain't one to judge so unload all your fucked up shit on me' moment!~"
Mai fought not to laugh when Mia guessed her age. Either the baby was older than she looked and sounded, or Mai should definitely take an ego boost away from that. She was going to go with the latter. She listened with interest to the rest though, particularly the sexual assault bit, which got a raised brow. The word 'psychopath' got a light wince, on the other hand.
She was sure that whole speech was meant to be reassuring, but paranoia said much to the contrary. She got the feeling Mia was genuinely just trying to be helpful, though, even for all that could very well go wrong with that. No one else needed to know about the voices in her head or the shadows that taunted her constantly or the young man who occasionally followed her around that no one else could see. Mai didn't like to acknowledge those things in her own head, let alone out loud, let alone to another person. But... she supposed she could throw some kind of bone and see what happened. Let Mia think that was the worst of it and she'd done some grand service.
"All right," she sighed softly. "How deep down the rabbit hole should we go here. Mmm." She smirked, tired yet still attempting to sound playful. "Do I actively try to make you think I'm a horrible crazy person or..." She forced a light chuckle... then sighed.
She supposed that would work. But.. "Guess we can build up." Start small, or 'small' by comparison. Reaching into her purse, she grabbed her wallet and opened it to show some photos of a young man with a little girl, perhaps 3 years old in one photo and 4 in the one next to it. Both looked candid, taken without the party's knowledge. There were clearly a few more stuffed in the pockets. Mai made sure Mia was the only one close enough to hear her well in the noisy bar before launching into a small monologue.
"My ex, and our daughter. We were vaguely together a few months before I left because I was too pathetic to get serious. Then I came back and we did get serious, and it was great except when it was terrible. I cheated on him maybe four times in a year because I felt like I was suffocating, and being with someone else was a breath of fresh air. Then I left again because I got pregnant and scared, had no idea what I was doing, had the baby anyway, still had no idea what I was doing. Realized I was too much a depressed piece of shit to be a decent mother and pawned her off on him, then spent four years doing nothing but being a depressed piece of shit trying not to kill myself, on purpose or accident. Then somefuckinghow he talks me into coming back again, and when that doesn't magically cure my depressed ass he takes his frustration out on me because that helps. He found out I'd cheated, five fucking years before, and would not let it go, so that was fun, too." She huffed as she caught her breath a moment.
"I'd say on the bright side I finally got to know my daughter a bit. She's five now and very bright. But now I might never see either again, because apparently that was a different world. Timeline. Dimension. Whatever. I don't know how I got here, but that's what they told me, and now I kind of wish I never got involved so she wouldn't be able to miss me. So~"
She forced a smile. "Hopefully whatever problems you and Vestie have, you haven't fucked up that much at least."

...Mia didn't know what to say to any of that. She was never very close to drama of that level personally. She lived a pretty good life and as much as she could bitch about Nik in a playful manner that made the shit she dealt with through them oddly more endearing, she herself had a pretty good family life, and until just this day, very minimal relationship drama all things considered. Listening to what Mai had to say all the same, she tried to process a lot of it, but as it got to the end...
From another..timeli-wait. Wait She knew what this was. Fuck. Sinker...lander....Faller! That was the term! Ugh she...she wished the league would inform her of this crap more. She'd ran into two of them now to her knowledge and after the first one she explicitly asked she be informed if any of them were in her area...then again it didn't exactly look like Mai was 'tagged' so what could she expect.
When Mai got to the end of it all, Mia washed the brief look of frustration off her face...took a deep breath...and spoke the only thing that came to mind.
"...I'm pseudo-friends with an immortal teenager that regrows limbs and is one heartbreak away from a slaughter fest."
Luckily it seemed no one nearby heard that as she'd purposely timed her declaration with the penalty shootouts of a soccer game on the bar's TV, the cheers and boos coming from the rest of the bar easily masking her words to anyone but Mai. Had Mia actually timed that? Or was she just so stunned by Mai's own weird declerations that she had no idea what else to say in turn.
"I...I dunno what I can say to your thing except say I've got my own back of weird crazy. All the other shit...I got nuttin, but I can at least relate a LITTLE on suddenly being exposed to a weird new world...even if mine's metaphorical..." She sighed and looked to the bartender. "Fuck I need a drink-" Back to Mai. "Do you need a-yeah you need a drink-HEY BARTENDER!"
Ubwuguh??? Did she say regrows limbs? Immortal might have been brushed off as hyperbole without that addition, and Mai hadn't exactly made a point to catch up or keep up wit current and recent events since she'd found herself living in Veria. She had no idea who Mia meant, but hot damn that really did sound like a special brand of crazy shit right on par with her world-hopping, didn't it.
A laugh started weakly, but grew a bit more hearty even as Mai herself grew more tired. "Hell yes I do." She eagerly downed the drink once the bartender brought Mia's order, nearly choking toward the end as her throat burned from so much at once. She coughed to clear it, then leaned on the bar again.
"You know, I may need that number after all. It's not every day you find a woman who's gorgeous and well-versed in Crazy." Or, well. She smirked. "Without being batshit nuts herself that is." She squinted playfully at Mia. "That or you're awfully good at hiding it.. You'd tell me if you were, mm~?"

Mia snickered as Mai came along with her order for drinks, feeling the drink of her own slider into her open palm and swilling it about for a moment like one would a wine glass. This spilled a fair bit of the drink onto the bar in the end but she was a little too shitfaced by now to really notice or care, throwing the drink back with hearty chuckles, especially as her drinking buddy seemed to brieftly choke on her own. later she may have realized how dangerous her slip up about Niso had been, but for now she was having a good time doing...something...she was forgetting something...
Well shit it seemed to be working at least.
Putting her drink back down and ringing the rim of the glass with a tap of her metal finger, she listened to Mai talk about getting her number and swiftly reached for a napkin, pushing herself over the bar, her top getting damp from all the spilled beer as she started to blindly search for a pen, hooking one leg up behind her as she really got into the search, eventually sliding back down into her seat with a soft sigh and biting the cap of the pen off to start making a note...
In all these years of taking her number down for a girl, it was a wonder she hadn't though to just print business cards or some crap. It'd make girls laugh too and increase her odds. Yes drunk brain, this was a good idea.
"I dunno about not being batshit crazy I mean, I get into a fight with half the fuckers in this town, and I actually fuck the other half so-!~" She gave a shrug and offered the number across to her new friend, managing to get the numbers down even in her current state, giving Mai a dreary gaze as she put the heavily bitten cap back on the pen. "Besides, look at this thing." She lowered her metal arm out, flexing her fingers and thumb in and out of her palm. "This look like the sort of thing someone doing none-batshit stuff needs?~"

Mai briefly considered just offering Mia her phone to put the number in, but by the time she thought of that, Mia was already starting to write on a napkin, and after the whole endeavor to steal a pen from the bar how could she not let her finish? She partially hid her mouth behind a hand as she giggled softly at the drunken antics.
"Suppose there's that," she replied to the fight-or-fuck comment. So she's Gunnar with boobs. Iiajwijioajiw brain no. No don't make her think like that.
The arm, yes, focus on that. "Depends how you got it, I guess, but I'll take your word for it." She supposed since Mia was calling attention to her arm, Mai should make some kind of conversation about it, but-- "You got wifi on that thing?" Drunk brain stop.
... At least it was pretty quiet other than drunk-dumb thoughts for the moment. That was nice.

Mia was a little oblivious to the effect her drunken pen fetching had had until she finally started to register the damp sensation of her own shirt, looking down and tugging at her top so it didn't cling to her skin so much, glancing about like she was trying to figure out where the hell all this liquid had come from. Had she spilled a drink? Nope. how could she forget that...oh. Right. Laid herself on the bar. Sadly not as sensually as such a sentance would usually sound.
"Oh thing is I dunno about that." She said, to the comment on her arm, lifting it across her chest and gently flexing her hand, though just a little slower than usual. She noticed the more inebriated she was getting the weirder it felt to control the thing. This was really the first time she'd gotten truly smashed since she'd gotten Jaz's masterpiece afterall. "League sent me on a mission and...thats all I remember. They know what I'm like though so they refused to tell me what did it...so I at LEAST know it's something I can get revenge on." She gave a light smirk, and at the next comment, snickered, reaching into one of her pockets and pulling out some small ear-phones.
"Nah, just an MP3 player and bluetooth." She slid the jack into a small port that flowed down her outer-lower bicep so it blended in with the arm for the most part, lightly sliding a small panel aside and revealing a small blue screen, pressing play and offering Mai an ear-piece with a smirk. She had no idea what was playing herself but it was one of the themesongs she used for her gym. link
Mai nodded along as Mia explained about the arm loss, and found a laugh escaping despite herself as Mia's focus turned to her hypothetical revenge. Well then. "Good luck with that?"
Brows raised when she finally answered the question tho. "Really?" Curious, she took the earpiece. She didn't know what she had expected. Maybe pop or some kind of rock? Maybe a country song akin to what played quietly in the background of the bar noise just now. But she shot upright as the fight music hit her ears. This was awesome??
After a few moments of bobbing her head, she declared, "You should dance to this with me!"
