[attr="class","likedo"] [attr="class","likedotitle"] [attr="class","likedotitle2"]Summer Festival Appeals Round! [attr="class","likedoinfo"]The stage had been completed a few days before, and was now ready to witness the second contest in the Veria region. The start of the event itself wouldn’t begin until late afternoon, due to the extreme heat that the sun had brought down during the middle of the day—safety always comes first, after all! Now that the “beach weather” season had kicked off, tourists from all over— including the locals, as well—were now flocking in droves towards Pahala; one of Veria’s coastal cities dotted with fantastic beaches that had nothing but the best white sand to offer, the better to escape the heat in the city. Final sound checks were being conducted, and once the entire set-up had been deemed good to go, the live telecast then kicks off with a sweeping view of the beach stage set up, angled in such a way that anyone who looks to their right will see the ocean; and on the left, bleachers have been erected around the area, curving to face the ocean as well. A sudden blast of upbeat music plays over the speakers; and in come the parade of contestants! As the short procession circles once around the sandy grounds before climbing up onto the stage, the speakers blare out again, catching everyone’s attention. "Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together, for one of your hosts... JOSH DRAGOMIR!"To a round of applause, a young man that looks to be in his early 20s, standing at about 6'4, walks onto the stage, wearing a light, white, collared dress shirt and a pair of shorts. He had short blonde hair, as brimming brown eyes stared at the crowd and took in the sights with clear eagerness in those eyes, not a single inch of nerves or trepidation spreading across his face at any moment as he swaggers onto the stage with bright and brimming confidence, and walking beside him a Pikachu wearing a blue bow tie, who seems enamored by the sights even if the Pikachu does look a tad nervous. The blonde shoots a handsome smile and a wink toward the crowd and to the camera before raising the microphone to his lips. "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, ATTENDEES OF ALL AGES, WELCOME! WELCOME ALL FROM FAR AND WIDE, TO VERIA'S FIRST EVER SUMMER FESTIVAL!"The blonde takes a moment to take in the applause before speaking again, with growing confidence in his voice. "I'm one of your hosts for this event, Josh Dragomir, and this is my partner, Lightning... Say hello, Lightning!""Pikachu!" The Pikachu would chirp to the "Awww" of the crowd. ".... And as the sun sets, we will see Performers and Coordinators from all across Veria compete to prove one thing, and one thing only! And that is the fact that on THIS STAGE, they are the BEST at doing what they do, and that is entertaining all of you! The first round will be the Appeals! This will be where you will get to know your past, present and future superstars, as they introduce themselves to YOU, in a BIG way! This will be their first impressions, so let's hope they make it a great one!
Our second round? Me, I'm a Trainer myself, along with being a businessman and aspiring actor, but I'm a Pokemon Trainer first and foremost. So I can very much appreciate this one. That's right, folks, I'm talking about the BATTLE ROUND! Not only will their Pokémon duke it out, but they'll be trying to dazzle, and razzle frazzle! This is no normal battle, folks, and how you react MATTERS for EVERYTHING! A winner will be declared based on who has the most points when time is up. Even if their Pokémon is KO'd, they still have a chance to win!
And finally? The Performance Round. This is where they give their all to give YOU the best performance they can bring! But for both Appeals and Performance, they have to remember the THEME! That's right, boys and girls! I'm talking about Summer 'Lovin! Bring out your summer spirit, everyone; because sticking to the theme is vital to your success! Bonus points will be awarded if a Water-type makes an appearance during the Appeals Round!
And of course... I will be pulling double duty as one of your three judges! Better yet? I will be joined on the judge's panel by the beautiful Honoka Sato and Anna Asakura! A hand or two for these beautiful ladies who will be your judges today, perhaps, folks?
Anyhoo! I know none of you want to wait any longer, and quite frankly, neither do I! Do you want to wait anymore, Lightning?"The Pikachu would shake his head as Josh placed the microphone near him. "Piiiikaaaa.""Yeah, me neither, Lightning, me neither. So without further ado, let's get this summertime funtime ROCKING! Please help me introduce our Coordinators as it's TIME, folks! Time for what? The APPEALS ROUND, of course! Let's give them a big hand, because... The Veria Summer Festival begins... RIGHT NOW!"Josh and Lightning take a bow to the cheering crowd before moving to the judge's table with Honoka and Anna, and the Appeals Round has begun! [attr="class","likedosub"]Notes - Please make a single post making your appeal - your appeal is your chance to make your first impression and demonstrate your mastery over the theme of the contest. Remember to check Horizon's Coordination Guide for details!
- Remember the theme of the Summer Festival Contest is Summer Lovin'!
- This round will run from June 8th - June 15th
- You MUST submit your Appeals on or before June 15, 11:59:59 p.m. US Pacific time; any late Appeals submitted WILL NOT be counted for judging! More or less, you will be DISQUALIFIED from the current round!
Good luck!

● waiting, contemplating... @tag / have an Appeal to start the ball! / 1,734! Now that the parade was done, Andrea was contemplating on coming in on a surfboard, from the beach—but upon seeing as how flat the waves were, she’d had to write out that option—and hoped that her second alternative would be safe enough to execute on-stage. She was going to be presenting first; after all of the contestants had been ushered off the stage, she’d quickly gone to one of the tents behind it that also doubled as her ‘dressing room’ in the meantime. Wondering if going with the other ‘option’ she had was a safe idea, she then looked over at the mirror, and turned around to check if her ‘costume’ wasn’t too extreme. After looking at her collection of companions, she’d decided on bringing just two for now—but the two she was bringing along were two of the ‘best’ unevolved partners she had; and besides, she couldn’t overuse her Milotic too much. Quickly clicking the two containment units against each other, she then watched as the red streams of light shot out, transforming into her Riolu and her Squirtle, landing on the sand near her. “Alright. Mikey, Ivan. Just follow my lead, okay? I’m going to be doing something crazy, so don’t lose your cool when I do get around to it, I’ll be fine,” she added, crouching down for a few moments before giving the Jackal and the Tiny Turtle equal pats on the head. “Now, come on. We have an Appeal to slay,” she ended with a chuckle, before pushing herself up and throwing on the last touches of her costume. The surfing will have to come later… I hope this works… well, the surfing will depend on the layout of the stage for the Performance Round…! She thought to herself as she quickly hung a lei of flowers around her neck, before grabbing two of the smaller ones and hanging them around her companions’ necks as well. For the Squirtle it was a string of violet-and-white flowers; whereas for the Riolu it was another wreath in paler yellows and orange. For Andrea herself it was bright blue and white; a bit on the unorthodox side but nonetheless very stunning. Just as she’d finished cramming on the last of the ‘decorations’ that her costume had, one of the stage crew then poked their heads in the tent and very nearly surprised her by suddenly blurting out, “The stage is set up, Miss Benoit. You’re going first, right? Are there any special instructions?”Scheisse, he nearly made me jump out of my skin… she thought as she then quickly wound a second lei around her forehead before turning around and saw that aforementioned stage hand, their head poking into the tent. “Just have them turn on the spotlight when I do go up and get into position, and have the ‘special formula’ ready on the stage as well, along with the sticks I’ll be using… that’s all, thanks,” she ended, nodding before quickly fixing the leis on her two companions’ necks, as they were now slightly off-center. “Alright, Mikey, Ivan. Are you ready?” she asked the two, and they both nodded in approval. “Rio, riolu!”“Squirtle! Squirtle, squiiiir!” the Tiny Turtle cracked, before giving her another attempt at a hands-up gesture. She then cracked another grin, before letting the Riolu go outside first—with her following, and the Squirtle going out last. As the trio then headed towards the stage, the general area was in darkness—just like she’d requested. While the commentator was busy rattling off her introduction, she then slowly but surely ushered the Riolu up the stairs to the stage first, before letting the Squirtle follow him. Once all three were on stage, with the Jackal ‘mon on the left side, and the Tiny Turtle on the right, they left her enough space to get into position. She then stole one look downwards and saw that the extra “paraphernalia” she’d requested had been brought out, and was pretty much ready. Once the music started, the first of the spotlights rigged up behind the bleachers then turned on, revealing her in its bright, glaring glory—she was wearing both aforementioned garlands of blue orchids around her neck and across her head; but at the same time she was wearing a bright red wrap-around top, covering up just enough of her upper body without exposing anything else too indecent. As or the bottom half of her costume, she had thrown together a “skirt” made out of long green grasses. Underneath it, of course, she was wearing a pair of cycling shorts, just to be on the safe side. Her hands were out in an extended position, her palms facing the crowd—and as the music that was blaring over the speakers was a bit more on the traditional side began to play, it became clear just what she had in mind. At that same time, the spotlights that were closest to the main one had been turned on, revealing her two companions on-stage. On her left and right-hand sides, the Riolu and Squirtle began to move in the same fashion that she was, going at first to the left, before moving back to the right—and in Andrea’s case, she’d extended her arms to the sky, as if reaching for the moon that was now rising in the sky. Once the initial gesture was done, she then moved her hands back into what translated as a gesture of invitation, before slowly, ever so slowly turning on the spot—and while her companions kept up with the simpler gestures, she herself had seemingly crouched down and grabbed one of the pitch-colored sticks in her left hand, before ever so casually bringing her occupied hand back around again, and tipping it down for a few moments—that was, at least, until first one end of the shorter staff that she was holding, then the other, burst into flame! Now that she had the first of two in her hands, the graceful motions continued—but with the flaming ‘staff’ in her left hand, it added more emphasis to her movements on-stage. Right as she’d turned around, she then whispered, loud enough for her Riolu to hear, “Psst, Ivan. Light up your feet with a Blaze Kick or two, and follow what I do, okay?” before turning to face the front again—and throwing the first ‘staff’ in the air before reaching down towards the stage once more, and a second burst of flame came from the ‘staff’ that she now held in her right hand. There was a grin forming across her face, and as the music reached the halfway point—it then transitioned into another song, one that was more upbeat and more suited for what she was going to do. “Ladies and gentlemen, everyone! On this bright summer evening, I bring you the passion of Shalour, from a far-off land known as Kalos!” she began, catching the first ‘staff’ as it fell through the air. Now that she had both ‘staves’ in her hands, both ends blazing brightly, the traditional music began to melt into the background, to be replaced with faster-paced music blasting through the speakers, and she now launched into an acrobatic routine, complete with juggling both ‘staves’ between her hands—it was more like fire dancing at this point. “My Burning Love is what represents this Summer season—as this time of the year is very special to me! I’m pretty sure you’ve all had your ups and downs, highs and lows—as well as tradition in the face of the ever-changing landscape! It is a love I feel for my companions that you see on the stage, Mikey and Ivan—heck, for all of my companions, even—as well as life itself!” she began; while at the same time her Riolu, now enamored by the sight of the burning ‘staves’ in her hands now drove him to show off with a few Blaze Kick demonstrations of his own! Once the Squirtle had noticed that it was time to basically ‘goof off and go have fun’, it then reached into its shell, before pulling out a pair of shades, and shoved them on its face! …or well, tried to, because the Riolu was now showing off its kicking prowess on stage, while the Water-type was now chuckling and flashing all manner of thumbs-up gestures to the audience at large! While her companions were busy making the younger part of the crowd gape and stare in wonder, she then did several more tricks—like an underhand toss, before suddenly raising her left foot up as high as it would go, eventually catching the first flaming ‘staff’ between her toes! Not to be outdone, she then launched herself into a somersault—sending both of her props flying through the air, and then catching both of them with just her feet, coming into an almost-perfect handstand on stage, before flicking her own legs skywards again, sending the flaming props airborne once more. With a sudden spin, she then righted her balance and flipped back into a standing position, catching the left one and holding it aloft; while the right one she brought down in a graceful sweeping motion; right as the music ended. “My name is Andrea Benoit, and these flames represent my—no, our—collective passion as a whole! Even if the weather gets hot, the days get balmier—there’s lots of other ways to cool down—and what’s not to love about Summer? The beaches, the picnics, the bonfires—hiking trips with our Pokémon companions—this season is ripe with everything for the picking!” she ended, before tossing the props skyward one last time and giving the crowd a quick bow—the Riolu and Squirtle following suit. The Water-type then caught sight of the flaming ‘staves’ coming down on his owner, and out of alarm more than anything, quickly shot out a blast of water, extinguishing the flames—and slightly drenching Andrea in the process! As she came back up from the bow, it was her companions’ turn to take a bow—and she was met with the two extinguished props, as well as an unexpected shower of water! “Come on, you two, let’s get off the stage,” she whispered, quickly waving at the audience a few more times before vacating the area for the next contestant. First song, fades out at around 1:11 and the second song, where she starts her fire dancing thing! | MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

Two appeals down. One of them being the lady who got second place in the last contest, the other being an idol who wasn't recognizable to Vinny, but still had a group of fans and was even from Unova.
Stiff competition, it seemed.
For his outfit, instead of something rushed together and was...an attempt to stay on theme, at least. Vinny was wearing a blue shirt that was decorated with Gardenina's, a sterotypical shirt that a depection of a tourist would be caught wearing, but never less at least it somewhat represented the summer theme. Aside from that was a pair of brown cargo pants, followed by blue flip flops. Much like the last time, Vinny's heart was pounding as he walked from behind the cover of the curtains and onto the stage, as the crowd sat and waited, a short few clapping as a sign of welcome. Vinny shot an awkward smile back at the audience before heading to the center of the stage, the spotlight from above following him.
"H-hello!" Vinny managed to force out, as he flimsily waved to the audience, "I have p-planned a show here for you all tonight. I hope you'll like it!" Quick and straight to the point, just the way he liked it. Vinny reached into his pockets and pulled out three pokeballs, two in his right hand and one in his left hand. Vinny tossed the pokeballs into the air, the pokeballs quickly releasing a male Nidoran, a Eevee, and a Deino. Beats, Rhythm and Cressendo respectively. Upon the release of his Pokeball Beats turned to side pointed upwards, Rhythm just smiled and looked cute for the audience, and Cressendo just sniffed around with the same derpy look on her face.
"Alright, Beats use Thunderbolt!" Vinny called out. After a relucent look Beats pointed upwards towards the sky as his body glowed yellow before releasing a strike of lighting up into the air. The display would last all in three seconds, before Vinny turned his head towards Rhythm. "Rhythm, Use Iron Tail!" Rhythm gave a subtle nod before walking towards the audience, before her tail changed it's color to silver. Rhythm swung her body weight to the left hard, her tail getting swung at an imaginary opponent. At this point, Cressendo started to go towards the two other mons not seeing, but rather hearing their individual displays of power. This did not go unnoticed by Vinny, however and neither Rhythm. Seeing the Deino going astray the Eevee pointed up towards the stars and used Heal Bell, the 'ding' noise was enough to catch the attention of Cressendo, as she walked back to her spot with curiosity. Cressendo tried to move some more, but with light nudging from Rhythm she was encouraged to remain in her spot.
"Alright Cressendo," Vinny said in a nervous tone, watching the dragon with worry, "Let's show them that trick you learned. Use Aqua Tail."
Beats and Rhythm but looked at Cressendo tensely as they moved away from the Deino. Hearing the words 'Aqua Tail', Cressendo's face shined with realization and a smile and she swung her tail around as it glowed blue. Cressendo swung her body violently, but she stayed in the same spot for the most part. Alas, the display of power also lasted for only a few moments as well.
With the small displays of power done, Vinny walked up in front of the Pokemon, to refer to the entire crowd...or at least he tried to. Vinny focused his eyes on the people in the row seats, to him it was much easier to focus on that smaller group of people instead of everyone in the crowd.
"That was just a small di-splay of how we've grown so far! But we noticed there wasn't something vital to summer here at the festival! We've decided to change that." Vinny said, even though he had came up with an idea like this weeks ago.
"Beats and Rhythm! You know what to do!" Vinny said over his shoulder as the two Pokemon went get into the center of the stage, Rhythm being dead center while Beats was diagonal to her. Rhythm used Heal Bell again, the ding noise attracting the attention of Deino. Rhythm used the move once more, encouraging Cressendo to follow Rhythm to the spot where she was standing. The Deino let her curisoity take control of her, and once she was in range Rhythm moved away to be diagonal to Deino and Beats, the three now being aligned. While this happened Vinny defaulted to be far behind his mons to issue them orders.
"Let's make some fireworks! Cressendo, use Draco Meteor!" Vinny called out as he pointed his arm and finger forward for no reason other than the fact that it thought it made him look cool. Cressendo's ears snapped to attention of the order, and once more she opened her mouth open out of glee as she pointed upwards towards the stars. Cressendo started to glow orange as she cried out Pokespeak, before firing a ball of orange dragon energy towards the sky. After reaching it's peak, the ball exploded and fell apart, breaking into smaller meteorites. "Beats, use Ice Beam! Rhythm do what you can with Shadow Ball!" Vinny cried out, losing what little cool he had out of surprise at the speed the meteors were falling at. Beats and Rhythm promptly started to act like soldiers in a war zone. Beats remained focused as the tip of his horn glowed a cool blue before a concentrated beam of Ice shot out, taking out the meteorites one by one. This caused the meteorites to break up into much smaller pieces, to the point where they were relevantly harmless. Rhythm on the other hand tried her best by firing off Shadow balls to break up the meteors, but she wasn't as productive as Beats was. The Draco Meteor attack fell apart one by one, the once intimidating meteors were now being reduced to nothing more than sparkles. The ones that Beats missed however, Rhythm made sure they didn't get past them.
When it all ended what was left were orange sparks of energy, before they simply died out on their way to the ground. Satisfied, Vinny turned to face the crowd and spoke as loud as he could.
"Back in my home region, we used to set off fireworks every Summer in July! It might not be July but that doesn't matter to me. Fireworks and Summer mean two things to me, f-fun! I hope you had fun watching me and continue watching me in the next round!" Vinny announced, almost scaring himself at how good he was at talking to the audience. With that, Vinny's appeal round had come to an end and he and his mons walked off the stage.

| Find your heart find yourself. A dark blush graced the ivory skinned young female, She had let her Pokemon and Michiru had picked out for her. It was far more revealing than anything she normally wore, but that was the point of being a performer right? You had to show off not just your Pokemon but yourself as well. Michiru had taught her that the day she had met the beautiful researcher. Her Strawberry blonde hair was down in the back, though a braid on each side wrapped around behind her head to be fastened at the back of her head with a bright red Hibiscus flower. A light pink colored lipstick slightly colored her lips a soft rose petal pink, that was the only real make-up she wore. Her bright gold eyes watched the stage from the back, filled to the brim with excitement.
A white choker necklace was fastened around her neck, from a gold piece on the front of the necklace, dangled a single Ultra ball. It belonged to her Shinx. Her top was clad in a bright red Bikini top, with a pink and white Plumaria bloom fastened to the top at the seam where the halter string connected to the rest of the fabric across her busty chest. Her slim ivory waist was bare, tied around her waist with the knot on the left side, showing the matching red Bikini bottoms. Was mid-thigh length red and white Hibiscus print Padeo. On her feet she wore a pair of gold and white roman style sandals.
A pure black Shinx with piercing ocean blue eyes stood to her left side. She shook with both nerves and excitement. She watched as the familiar blonde and Pikachu step out boldly onto the stage and welcome the audience. She shook slightly until she looked across from place to spot the other familiar friendly face of Honoka, the lovely blonde who had helped her search for an Azurill before. She took a deep breathe and let it go calming herself. Knowing that there were two friendly faces that would be on the stage with her made her feel much more comfortable.
As Josh introduce her name she walked out with Tesla trotting proudly at her side. It was a lot less scary on stage than she thought. Perhaps by the next contest she would be confident enough to actually compete. But at least she was already here. A bright smile danced over her soft rose pink lips as Tesla pranced with pride at her side. She gave a graceful curtsy as she hit the edge of the stage. Then trotted down the stairs at the edge and headed for the judges table and waited for them to begin.
Watching the first performance from the girl who had brought her here. She was amazed she did such a good job on the dance, and that the girl had chosen a Disney like theme, but she was slightly disappointed at the same time. As the girl Finished she clapped and smiled brightly. "Wonderful Stage presence Andrea! Both Tesla and I are fans of Disney as well, we love Lilo and Stitch, but I think you could have done a bit better in the use of your resources. I enjoy the Disney performance but you could have used more resources than just Disney there are plenty of Hula videos everywhere. I love that you really did stick to the theme though, I have to say lovely performance over all!" She spoke brightly her golden eyes glimmering as she spoke in amazement. She was just giving advice, at least on what she herself would have done.
Anna couldn't help but clap as the girl appeared on stage. She had done an amazing performance. So elegant and so lovely she had done amazing job with the music and choreography of her Pokemon. "Wow Astrid, that was a stunning performance. You did an amazing job of showing off you abilities as a coordinator and a trainer. You showed off both of your Pokemon with excellent showmanship, But next time I suggest keeping your Mist a little lighter, so we can at least see a shadow or silhouette." She spoke proudly, the Shinx at her side purred in appreciation of the show before him.
She watched as the obviously shy boy made his way to the stage. He had no stage presence and was clearly terrified. As the boy's performance she concluded with a joyous clap. He had done well but his Pokemon weren't exactly well trained. She at least felt better about herself as coordinator now. Suddenly his Pokemon actually acted like they knew what they were doing. At least there was more to his act. Smiling brightly with surprise the girl clapped as the boy concluded his performance.
"I truly love your Fireworks, and thank you for such a wonderful display. But next time may I offer, practice more on your theme performance than showing off how much you have grown, or if you truly want to show how much you have grown, may I offer that you incorporate that into your performance. I also offer that you need to practice more on your stage presence. Practice in front of your Pokemon speak to them as if they were a crowd at a contest. Or put on a small show at the local Pokemon centers around the region. It's not only a great way to practice with your Pokemon but also work on your performances at the same time!" She smiled brightly her golden eyes glimmered sweetly as she spoke. "Very good job though Vinny, your Pokemon are beautiful and amazing." She commented sweetly nodding the boys partners with just as sweet of a smile.

i see you standing there come with me @tagged The blonde was so enjoying watching the performances this time around. As much as she loved performing, she was coming to learn that she was quite enjoying the judge side of it too. She loved seeing the different performers' personalities come out in their performances, as well as being able to see their Pokemons' personalities. There was such variety of performances and people, and Honoka also found she could learn more to use herself at a later time in another competition. She recognized two of the competitors, but not the third. Still, she quite enjoyed all of their performances, some more than others. Each one was unique and interesting in its own way. When each one had finished their performance, the Blonde smiled and waited patiently for her turn for judging. She hoped she wouldn't mess it up. She listened to Alanna give her speech, agreeing with her on some points and disagreeing on others, which is to be expected. She supposed that was why there were multiple judges. "Andrea, I really enjoyed your performance. I loved the hula and fire dancing. I thought it was very appropriate for the city, and for summer and the festival. The flowers you chose were very suiting to you and each of your Pokemon, and i love the extra flare the type of flowers added. You all looked really lovely. I also quite liked the choice of music, it felt very summery and fun. I loved seeing your and your Pokemon's passion for summer. However, I felt like there wasn't enough planning on the performance, though ad-libbing can be a good idea. It felt a little unsure, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Your Squirtle was so adorable in those sunglasses!" The first performance done, she waited and watched the second. "Astrid. I liked your entrance, but your performance felt very lacking. It felt like the entrance, as cool as it was, was all there was to it. I felt like you could have put in some more effort and time into this. You could have, perhaps, used your entrance to lead into something bigger, instead of ending it there. Though I understand you have a lot of fans already. It's always nice to see new faces here in Veria." Two down, one to go. She remembered Vinny from the Spring Festival, and was looking forward to whatever quirky thing he was going to do this time. "Vinny, it's great to see you again. I loved watching you as a fellow performer last festival, and gotta say, I wasn't disappointed. You seemed a little nervous for this performance, but that's not unexpected. These things can be kinda nerve wracking, eh? I loved the fireworks you made, and watching your performance was definitely lots of fun. I'm not sure whether your Deino was seeming distracted on purpose or not, but it was definitely cute, regardless! I liked how you could capture its attention again with the sound from Heal Bell, and thought it was a pretty interesting touch to your performance.
"All in all, I really enjoy looking forward to the rest of the festival! I know you'll all try your hardest, and I can't wait to see what you can do! You can all achieve great things, and you can do anything if you put your mind to it and keep at it. I can't wait to see the rest of the Festival!" The blonde sat back down and waited to see if their third judge would give his own opinions on the performances or not. She was definitely curious what their fellow judge and host was thinking. Josh had, of course, judged contests with Andrea in them before, and knew what she was capable of. He had high expectations of Andrea for this Appeals round, and needless to say, she had certainly delivered. Josh would clap along with the crowd before taking the microphone. "WOW! Andrea, sweetheart, what is there to say? That performance was HOT! Quite literally, I should say, shouldn't I? You've clearly made an impression on the crowd if any of them haven't seen you compete before like I have, and your passion, your fire, has certainly left an impression on me. You kept to the theme, which was great, and you clearly choreographed your performance well with your Pokemon. The bond that must have taken, it must be insurmountable! It was HOT! It was ELECTRIFYING! Electrifying enough most likely to make my sweetheart at home crouch into a cold sweat... Sorry honey, if you're watching, I just couldn't resist. It takes a lot of courage to play with fire, doll, and it's quite clear that you didn't get burned! Great appeal! But I know you'll do even better in the next few rounds! Can't wait for your performance!"
The setup for this contest wasn't quite ideal. The beachfront stage was perfect, and the setting sun was almost perfect, but the lack of wind presented its own problems. There were no waves worth noting coming in, nor was there any reasonable chance of it picking up any time soon. So if she wanted to go that route, she'd have to make her own props, as it were. Once they were all was off the stage and the first of her competition went up to start her appeal, she looked over the props she had brought. They consisted of a wakeboard, a pair of batons, an umbrella, a few different outfit choices, some pyrotechnics for later, and a headset microphone. She also had three music discs, one for each possible plan for how she should do this. Each was labeled in turn: "storm," "fire," and "showtime." Contemplating how to best handle this contest, she finally settled on the last of them, and picked up the wakeboard. "If I'm going to be working with those two anyway, might as well. Let's just hope I've still got it." She changed into a fitting outfit for the theme, donning a blue bikini with white frills, and wearing a hibiscus in her hair. She finished the whole thing off with a tropical pattern sarong tied over her body, leaving her shoulders and legs exposed. "We're almost ready for the next contestant," one of the stagehands said, entering the tent. Apparently he'd decided that Astrid was next. He met Astrid's eyes. "Will you need anything from us on stage?""Here's the music I'll be using. Track 1 for an intro, then switch to 3 for my entrance, the rest will be for later. And put the spotlight on me when I take center stage. No sooner," Astrid explained, handing him the "Showtime" disc. She'd made absolutely certain that everything on the disc was tame enough for all audiences - there would be kids out there, after all. Heck, not all of it was even her own. But she did have a few Pale Heart tracks for the performance round. In a way, that would make this her first true 'concert' as Pale Heart. "Oh, one other thing. I'll be entering from the beach.""Understood. I'll get everything set up for you." The stagehand took the music and left. Once he was gone, Astrid called out the two Pokemon who would be taking part in this performance with her: Mist Queen the Vaporeon, and Lunatic the Clefable. One completely new to contests, but who had practiced with Astrid before this one, and one who had been with her at the end of her time as Luna. "Mist Queen, there's no wind today so you're going to have to pull us in," Astrid explained, tying a harness around the Vaporeon. "Otherwise, just like we practiced. Lunatic, we're going Showtime for this one. Keep the light on me until we're onstage. Both of you ready?"Lunatic let out an affirmative exclamation, while Mist Queen nodded her head. "Good. Let's get moving, then." She exited the tent with her two companions, walking down towards the beach in the near complete darkness and starting to wade out into the water. Before she got too far, or indeed far enough for her outfit to get wet, she set the wakeboard down and climbed onto it, taking the handle attached to Mist Queen's harness in hand. She turned towards the stage, seeing the end of what looked like a fireknife dance routine, then mentally sighed with relief at not choosing to do that as well. Though she'd prepared the music and even brought the batons for it, she'd ultimately decided against it because of dropping the batons too many times in what had been a hurried practice. Just as well, she thought to herself as the lights faded, leaving only the nautical twilight to keep the stage from being in complete darkness. I did this a lot in Undella Bay between summer shows out there, so I'm better at it anyway. The first track started, just as Astrid had requested. It was a light, soft track with just a hint of electronic instrumentation, and the sound of rolling waves in the background. Astrid urged Mist Queen to start, pulling her out onto the water and then using Haze to obscure all three of them from view. At midday, the audience would still just barely be able to see them through the mist, but at sunset as it was, they were completely hidden, leaving only the dark mist hanging over the waters to tell audience that anything was happening. "Go, Lunatic," Astrid whispered. On her cue, the Clefable, nestled onto the wakeboard in front of Astrid, raised her hands, and a silvery white light shone down from the sky, falling on the cloud of mist. Once the light appeared, the music changed to something brighter, faster, and with more electronic influence. That was Mist Queen's cue, and the Vaporeon took off, riding on a Surf-generated wave as she turned around with Astrid and Lunatic in tow and rushed towards the beach. As the Moonlight-spotlight followed them, they burst out of the cloud of mist, riding the wave Mist Queen had generated as it reached the shore, rolled up onto the beach, and carried Astrid and Lunatic all the way up to the stage. Once they reached the stage, Mist Queen suddenly turned, swinging Astrid around the turning wave in an arc. Lunatic jumped off and onto the stage, while Astrid continued to ride the wakeboard up and over the crest of the wave. Though most of the splash was contained to the stage, a fine mist still spread out around it, catching the Moonlight spotlight and creating a faint rainbow in the light. Astrid, meanwhile, extended a hand to wave to the audience as she came back down onto the water, riding it into the center of the stage. The water started to settle and recede, but a brilliant flash of light courtesy of Lunatic's Dazzling Gleam lit up the stage as Astrid came to a stop and stepped off her wakeboard. As the Dazzling Gleam faded, the stage spotlight came on, centered on Astrid. Her two companions joined her beneath it, with Lunatic waving to the crowd and Mist Queen taking a bow. "Laaaadies and gentlemen!" Astrid called out. Her headset was more of an accessory at this point, with her voice carrying all the power of an experienced performer. "Welcome, one and all, to this dazzling summer festival! This finest of seasons is a time for outdoor concerts and festivals, and what better place than this beachfront stage?" She reached back to undo the knot in her sarong, then pulled it off in one motion with a flourish, revealing the bikini underneath. "The summer months have always been my most active, whether it be on tour, at festivals like this one, or just riding the waves in Undella Bay. And this year..." Her voice started to soften and lower in volume, before she came back at full force. "Is no different! I may no longer be Luna, but my love for my fans and my work remains. I am here for you, dear fans, and all of you, to give you a show to remember! I am Astrid Sherinian, although I'm sure many of you know me as Pale Heart!"The surge of applause told her that she did indeed have some fans in the audience. Well, that or they were Luna fans who were happy to see her back in any capacity. Either way, she took a bow in response, followed by Mist Queen and Lunatic. Then as she came back up, she waved to the crowd once again, continuing until the light faded and it was time to leave and clear the stage for the next contestant.
Astrid. She was a new one. He wouldn't be surprised if this was her first contest, but the amount of instructions she had relayed made it clear that she was going for something unique and interesting. Josh had a feeling that she wouldn't disappoint. Her entrance was unique, and caught his eye quite a bit. While Andrea's mini-performance appeal had caught his eye instead of her entrance, the entrance of Astrid was everything here. It caught his eye and it kept him interested. It was unique, and kept his attention. It also seemed she was a veteran in entertainment, contrary to what he'd first thought. "I love it, Astrid. It's unique, it's eye-catching, eyes are on you and you kept to the theme all the way through, even adding your own mystique and mystery to it! We haven't met, but I do know that most likely, you'll be impressing me in the future!"
Use Aqua Tail." Beats and Rhythm but looked at Cressendo tensely as they moved away from the Deino.
Vinny Pugliesi. Josh had met this kid before. He'd been there as the Judge of Vinny's last Contest performance, and had later thwarted an attempted mugging against Vinny - a spectacle that opened up a rather... Interesting window for Josh when Interpol's Thomas Benoit came knocking on his door with that creepy-ass mask of his. Josh had offered to train Vinny, to prepare him for the next contest as well as to defend himself. Unfortunately, Vinny had slacked on the battling training and hadn't shown up near as much as he should have. Josh wouldn't count him out though. He certainly hoped Vinny had been practicing during the time he wasn't training with him... He had some stiff competition here. After the appeal, Josh would take the microphone. "Vinny, well done. Summer fireworks, interesting idea. On theme, good. But there's advice I need to give you, man. Confidence! You need confidence! If you are confident in YOU, then these PEOPLE will be confident in YOU! I want to see confidence in this contest as well as your next! You need to believe in yourself, and you need to believe in your Pokemon!"
