It would be almost two hours after he’d gone down to cool off in the bigger part of the Aquasphere that Logan would ascend to the catching pool again. His features had cooled from the bristling heat they’d had when he’d stepped out, and he had some food with him this time to fill the empty stomach he hadn’t realized he’d had until that point. The sandwich and chips he ended up buying from a local place nearby were pretty expensive around there, but if he had to guess, it was because of the location in proximity to such a spectacle as the Aquasphere. Logan would keep that in mind whenever he decided to come back.
Taking a sharp breath in and filling himself with determination, Logan threw out his line again and set the rod next to him. Slowly easing down into a seated position, he set the rod in his lap, trying to wait patiently. You have to be in there, don’t you? Somewhere inside, he felt doubt that he’d push away. He just needed to be patient. That was part of the art of fishing after all, wasn’t it? Er, something like that.

Logan sat there for quite some time in silence. The line would not tug. The reel would not spin and scream. Vaguely, he was starting to feel down again. It was true, he’d already had one incredible catch, and maybe that was going to be it for the time he was there.
That was, at least, until motion caught Logan’s eyes. Something was indeed coming up out of the water almost of its own accord, but when Logan saw it, he could hardly believe it. All thought stopped, and he sat there in disbelief for more than a couple seconds. The Lapras would crane her neck up last, ushering out a long yawn before rolling with the waves she’d made. It was only then that Logan snapped back into the reality of the situation.
He tried, he really did, to hold in the sharp gasp of air and sounds of excitement in his veins, but Logan simply couldn’t right then. Scrambling to his feet and starting towards the edge, he forgot momentarily that he was approaching a wild Pokemon. Tears welled in the corners of his eyes, and he struggled to blink them away. It was all too mystifying and wonderful! “Wow you’re gorgeous,” he spoke- right before tripping head long into the pool with an unceremonious splash.
The Lapras blinked a couple of times and then cried out in concern. Human don’t do that! At the very least his head came up over the water again as Logan started to tread. Long red and white locks now stuck to every side of his head as orange eyes flashed brightly out from behind them. The smile on the young man’s face had not wavered in the slightest. Even for as chilly as the water was, Logan was more invigorated than anything. “Hi!” he grinned a bit raising an arm out of the water and trying to pat the Lapras.
Well…. At least the human seemed unharmed and rather pleasant? The Lapras bent her head down to press against that friendly hand. What she would find, however, was not the soft hand of a child but rather the coarse hand of a working adult. Blinking surprised, she leaned back to eye him more closely. Logan, meanwhile, peddled back a bit to wrap one arm over the side of the pool. While he could tread water for quite a while- it was pretty chil—
--ly??? Logan squeaked on finding the Lapras had scooted forward and pressed him up against the pool wall. She stared at him inquisitively, and Logan took in a sharp breath. Both hands raised up uncertainly only to find a face shoved against them. For a moment, a weird smile pulled at the corner of Logan’s mouth. Both hands pat the Lapras gently. She was…so smooth, just like the other Lapras he’d once rode. Awkwardly, he shifted in the water and ended up clinging around her neck some. On some unknown cue, the Lapras jerked her neck back causing him to fly out of the water. Swinging sideways and flopping on her shelled back, Logan groaned. He remembered how hard this shell thing was too.
“Thanks?” he mumbled slowly sitting back up. The Lapras was looking back at him now with a curious look. Logan blinked a couple of times and offered a smile. The Lapras smiled back and- suddenly went surging through the water. A sharp noise escaped from Logan as he clung onto Lapras for dear life. However, as momentum was built up, small budding bubbling laughs broke from him. “Thanks!” he called again as they continued on this fun little spin around the pool.
Easing up his grip around her, Logan looked around watching as they twisted and turned around in the pool. Very briefly, he imagined being out on open water, and his heart rushed. Orange eyes closed, and he took in a breath. “Have you ever been out in open water?” he asked opening his eyes again to find the Lapras looking back at him curiously. She hadn’t stopped moving all together but had slowed quite a bit.
“Oh….” Logan frowned softly from that look. “It just…. It’s huge,” he commented shrugging his shoulders. “The warm salt air, the sun off the water, it’s…” Logan tried and couldn’t find the right word or even thought to describe the feeling of open water. Instead, a warm, nostalgic smile pulled at the corners of his lips and he shrugged. “It’s wonderful.” Even that didn’t really describe or justify the feeling correctly but, oh well? For the moment, Logan felt pretty good just thinking about it.
The Lapras would slowly come to a halt after a bit at the edge of the pool. Her eyes had never stopped looking back her looks ever curious. She wondered what could be so phantasmal as to make the human make such a face. It sounded nice. On realizing that the ride of memories was over, Logan slowly shook his head and started to stand up. He about slipped off the Lapras and into the water again but managed to make the leap back to the edge of the pool at the last moment. Shakily, he turned back and smiled brightly at the Lapras.
“Thank-… thank you so much… I … it means a lot for the ride and I really, really enjoyed it,” Logan’s voice was shaking a bit, and for whatever reason, he found tears welling again. “W-would you come with me? O-out into open seas and all along the coast. You could meet my family and we could go out ways and it’d be great and….” Logan was tripping over every other word but couldn’t stop smiling. He felt so warm and fuzzy. Shakily his hands fished through his still soaked pants, managing to pull out the other Aquasphere ball he’d bought. Holding it out, he stared at the Lapras who stared back at him.
He…. He was such a cute human? And seemed to have seen such interesting sights? She really did wonder what open water was like, and he seemed to sincerely ask to come with him. How could she say no to that face? Honestly? Leaning forward, she tapped the ball with her nose.
