Harper's exuberant response warmed Roxanne's heart. Not literally, of course. But it did make her feel a nostalgic kind of joy. Even the meticulous way she put away her things reminded her of somebody dear to her. That she can't even remember. Her eyes grew dark with sadness, but she didn't bring attention to it. Something she is learning how to deal with, being an amnesiac and all.
Roxanne heard the girl's declaration of not being allowed coffee and made a note to make sure that the already energized girl got a decaf. Roxanne looked to Dawnie and Sybel and after a quick discussion, they agreed to remain outside their respective balls until they were in the cafe. The alien was returned to his ball, a beeping goodnight issued toward them. He must be a different kind of dramatic then Dana. Who Roxanne swore looked like she was a pleased queen, being carried by her most loyal subjects.
The journey was mostly filled with chatter among the Pokemon, the three discussing where they are going and where they have been. Then Harper interrupted them with a question Roxanne didn't even think would be of interest. Nobody else had even said two words about her ears. They twitched down, a combination of shyness and something much more complicated. Roxanne cleared her throat, a faint flutter in her chest as she retold the girl how she got them. Her voice was heavy with nostalgia.
"I got them from a Breeder just starting out, actually. He was dabbling in new techniques to better understand Pokemon. He said these ears were an experiment. He said they didn't work the way he wanted so he just gave them to me. I. I happened to stumble upon him in Pahala City. I wonder how he is doing..."
Roxanne shook her head, such fool thoughts in a serious need of shaking free. She had to focus on the now, not the past. And certainly not on a trivial thing like random strangers that she doubts even remember her. She beamed at the girl, intent on changing the subject.
"What got you interested in studying the strange and paranormal?"
