Kai didn't think much of it when Bright Star took the drink. ...When she kept it, however, his mouth would purse a bit. He debated snagging it back from her; that cute face would only get so far with him. But if he upset her, Dasha would be the one dealing with it more, so..... Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhh? Fine... Reluctantly, he'd order some water from the stewardess as she passed. He'd rather have Eletric Terrain flavor, but he'd live.
Once he got settled in again, though, it wasn't hard to forget that minor annoyance and focus on the movie. Ah, his pal had been right, this was better than the critics gave credit for. He was glad he'd grabbed this one.
Once it was over, he'd look in the library for another and noticed-- "...Ah right, I actually.. downloaded the first season of Powers, too. If that'd be something you're interested in it could kill about eight hours. Though if not feel free to pick a movie." He'd sort of watched the first two episodes recently but he could start over if she wanted.

Powers? Dasha had heard of it but hadn’t had a chance to watch it. It was probably right up her ally considering the nature of the show, though, so she gave a small nod. “I haven’t seen it but I’ve heard it’s good,” she answered settling in again to watch it.
During the course of hours and hours, Dasha would find herself incredibly invested, to the point that it was very hard to keep form talking to Kai about it. As it was playing Sometimes a couple words would slip or a question here or there, anyway. Sometimes just semi-animated noises escaped from her. At one point, she was having to physically force herself not to look up spoilers on her phone because apparently that was a thing.
Bright Star would cycle between wake and sleep rather frequently during this time. She was comfy in Dasha’s lap, but sometimes she’d hear something going on now and again and sit up to look around. Once she found whatever it was, however, she’d settle back in and rest again pretty easily.

Kai... did not expect to get this invested. He heard it was good, and the episodes he'd already watched had very much gotten his attention. But damn, they didn't actually prepare him for how deep this rabbit hole went, did they? He'd briefly comment thoughts or predictions or give short feedback on hers between episodes, but mostly he was in a bit of a hurry to see what happened next.
Walker was... oddly relatable in ways he couldn't quite place. Like he didn't think they were too much alike but.. hm, maybe it was the way he related to struggles more than the struggles themselves? Something like that. But also, wow this Wolf was great, and this poor girl, and this poor kid, and even this poor woman who-- wh-who... oh???
Wh-- what did they mean that was the season finale??? Wh-what the fuck.
Ding. "Attention, passengers. We are expected to arrive in Akala Airport in approximately thirty minutes."
Kai still frowned at his screen. "...I'm not okay with this."

A small, low noise had escaped from Dasha as the season finale finished. W-why??? W-H-Y??? What did… what did this mean why this why— Bright Star was starting to squirm in her lap, and Dasha briefly recalled her so as to keep her from dealing with turbulence and lading and everything else but??? She was still stuck on this and still stuck in why about this and would look at Kai with a frown as he spoke. “I … don’t know if I want to watch the next season on the flight back,” she said about as gently as she could— which would have come back as a “what the fuck did you just make me watch” had they been in a private place. In close quarters of an air plane with little ears present… ehhh….

Kai was?? pretty conflicted?? "I.. don't either. That seems so unnecessary but I also want to know how they'll handle the fallout so..." A brief, bitter almost-laugh sounded in the back of his throat. "I guess that's probably what the writers were going for?" Ha... Somewhere between bitter cynicism and aiming for humor, he'd comment, "Maybe I shouldn't just to deny them their evil schemes, eh?" ... He would probably watch an episode or two before they were even done with the trip if she was set on not doing so but he could briefly pretend their plan to hook him hadn't worked.
Actually, though, as he was putting away the tablet in preparation for landing soon, he thought aloud, "Suppose you could always figure out something for the trip back if you wanted? Series or a couple movies." It'd be interesting to see what her taste was, too, heh.

A small, weaker breath escaped from Dasha. “I guess,” was all she’d answer back with, rather quietly and more to herself than to Kai. Some part of her was actually fuming, but the other part…. Didn’t know. Just… Ugh oh well. She shifted a little in her seat, checking her seat belt was in place before they had to deal with anything too bleh. As Kai spoke, however, she paused and looked sideways at him. Was there… anything she’d been really wanting to watch and hadn’t gotten a chance to? There was nothing off the top of her head, but that really didn’t mean anything at the moment so…. “I’ll look into a series or something later…” she answered.
The plane landed safely, and after a bit of push and shove, they were finally off the plane entirely. Dasha would be at the baggage claim when she remembered to release Bright Star again, the Pikachu quick to sit on the bigger rolling luggage that was going to be towed along with the carry on. Even in the airport, however, Dasha was aware the temperature had shifted. Was… was it really warm at the moment??? They’d have to get out and see, but—
Oh… it was. Quite bright and nice and maybe just a touch cooler than one would call ‘warm’ but still… Staring out at the water that stretched out, however, Dasha found herself at a loss for words for a few seconds. Era’s tormented northern waters were dark, threatening, and not to be trifled with. The west was certainly more mild and could be good for swimming in the right time, but … neither one had such beautiful… water??? Like this??? They weren’t even at the beach front and she could see it clear as day.

As they got off the plane, Kai could already feel it, and while waiting for Dasha's extra luggage (what all did she even pack? he was having trouble imagining enough things to fill a suitcase that size with for a trip this short, but he guessed if she was hella overprepared for all kinds of weather? he told her it'd be warm, ha) he slipped off his jacket and stuffed into his bag. With the new addition, it was a bit hard to zip shut, but he managed. (And here was Dasha... hehe.)
"We've got a bit of time before we're scheduled for our first trial," he noted. Not a lot, but enough they didn't need to make a beeline. "Did you wanna find a hotel here and stow our stuff away, or carry it around until afterward?" He hoped she didn't mind being left to decide; he just didn't exactly want to give her orders on vacation, ha.

Dasha felt… distracted, but as Kai spoke, she’d pause and think back to what she’d read about each of the islands prior to the trip. This was… Akala which meant they were somewhere in proximity to the Hano Grand Resort and— That was too expensive for a business trip, and she knew that (and knew that when she looked it up) but apparently she had to think of it first anyways— “Let’s… get a hotel first and go from there,” she decided, not entirely unaware of the fact that her opinion was being asked on something that Kai probably could have taken the lead on.
“Bright?!?!?” Dasha’s voice broke as she noticed the Pikachu had since escaped from her ride luggage and seemed bent on climbing a palm tree? “Bright Star come down!” The Pikachu in question shook her head, scurrying up slowly but surely to one of the coconuts with bright interested eyes. Dasha shook her head but couldn’t help but smile a little as the Pikachu grabbed a coconut and then came sliding back down again, showing her prize with excitement.

A hand raised to Kai's mouth, only one finger loosely 'covering' his grin as his shoulders shook slightly. Bright Star was such an endearing Pokemon, though the slight huff in Dasha's tone as she commanded her was also-- ah, he was pretty impressed with Bright getting such a big prize down with her from the tree.
"She's very welcome to it," he noted. "Barring private farms and sacred ground, nature's bounty is for everyone here~" Ffffffuck his heart he was still full of so much Kanto Pride but he guessed it had been too long since he'd visited Home #2. He could already feel himself flooding with adoration for everything Alolan.
If Bright didn't crack it open with something like Iron Tail before they made it to the hotel, he'd offer her a hand, but did sort of hope she'd wait to eat it until they settled. "The Tidesong hotel's not far from here, and the beach there is really nice." Despite himself, he grinned. "..Might have to see if I still know my way around a Mantine if we have time."He didn't. He didn't it had been.. at least ten years, maybe fifteen or more? Had he been on one since Nalani was born?? He didn't even know for sure and his prosthetic was not going to make things any easier but aaaaaa the nostalgia in him still wanted to go make an ass of himself trying so bad. Apparently setting foot in Alola mentally regressed him to about 20 and he was okay with this.
Bright Star didn’t even know if she could eat a coconut, but she’d seen the half-cut ones with the little straws with hats in a magazine Dasha had been looking at so! So! Now she had a whole one! She.. didn’t exactly know what to do with it, but she had one! A small breathy noise escaped from Dasha as she reached down to pat Bright briefly. “You’re going to have to carry it,” she mumbled at the Pikachu. The latter flashed a small grin and gave a nod. She could do that!
As Kai spoke, Dasha righted herself and gave a small nod. “That should be—“ Mantine? She squinted briefly only to vaguely remember having read Mantine surfing was apparently a Thing. Mmmmmmmm. She’d ‘surfed’ on a Pokemon a couple of times and even had a Lapras who made water travel easy, but she knew this was Different from the sport that Alola made it out to be?? “I want to try Mantine surfing too,” she finally answered her gaze forward as they presumably started towards the Tidesong hotel. “I have a Mantyke but she’s… more of a pet than anything.” She wasn’t even registered as one of her Interpol Pokemon mostly because of that.

Oh??? Oh, Kai lit up at that. "We probably shouldn't right away or we'll get sucked in and miss our trial," he only half joked, although there was still a 'probably' in there so, ha. "But if we make good time on it, we can spend the afternoon at the beach and then sightsee a bit around Heahea while we find some place for dinner. I've heard it's grown even more in recent years, so downtown ought to be pretty lit up and busy even when it gets late~" He was.. too vaguely excited? He'd seen most of the city even if it had been a while but?? but, heh??
"Ah, or we could find time to head up to Paniola at some point if you want. It's got a lot of rustic charm and history, what with the ranches paying tribute to the Pokemon that first helped settle the island. Although if that's less your thing we could skip it or maybe go look around a little early in the morning, when it's nice and quiet." ... Ah, it was because she was here, huh? Indulging the nostalgia was nice but sharing it with someone who was new to all this was so much better.
Dasha was trying very hard not to be endeared by this man who was so very clearly excited to be there, but ??? Kai why are you so cute right now??? Her lips twitched and finally settled on a smallish smile. She wasn’t entirely too sure how much walking she wanted to do post-trial, but if they could get a ride between towns, maybe it wouldn’t be too bad. “Let’s see how we do on the first trial,” she finally answered a bit more groundedly as they came up to the hotel.
Oh, this was pretty quaint, actually. Coming up the wooden steps, she was reaching for the door (abet still far from it) before it suddenly opened. “Alola!” a woman smiled excitedly. Dasha blinked several times in rapid succession. The woman smiled a bit more sweetly. “You’re looking for a place to stay yes? Come in come in!” Oh… ok??? Dasha shifted a little but did so. She guessed this was… just friendly advertisement sort of? Er? Something??
On finding a nice wooden surface, Bright Star had taken to rolling her treasure along inside. “Chuuuu…” Oh no wait now it was rolling away from her! Squeaking a bit, she chased after it, stopping it right behind the counter. The woman was already retreating there as well, avoiding the Pikachu skillfully before opening a log book. “Is this your first time here?”

Kai was so oddly conflicted at that response. Part of him wanted to be disappointed she didn't seem more excited about this, but at the same time that collected sense of practicality was such a large part of why he'd invited her over anyone else in the office in the first place, wasn't it? Ahaha. "Fair enough."
It was nice to see the hotel hadn't changed much since he'd been last; it actually looked bigger, he thought, but the aesthetic had stayed much the same. Spacious and beautifully detailed, but still warm and down to earth. He loved it~
"Alola~" he chimed back at the woman who greeted them, one hand waving back despite the other staying on the strap of his backpack. He didn't notice Bright Star until she squeaked, but by the time he looked she was catching the coconut, so no worries, hehe.
"Hers, not mine," he answered the woman. "Though it's been a minute, so if you have a brochure or anything we'd love one." She nodded and affirmed that would be fine, grabbing one from behind the counter and handing them before getting his guest information, including Interpol discount.
"Is this together or separate?" she asked then.
-- Right, ah. "Payment together, arrangements separate." Turning to Dasha, he'd ask, "Do you prefer a separate room or is a two bed room fine?" He kind of preferred the latter both for financial reasons and how much harder it was to sleep with no one around, but he wouldn't push for it.
Post by Dasha Laska on Dec 7, 2017 14:48:06 GMT -8
Picking up the brochure, Dasha thumbed through it briefly as everything was handled. At the question, however, she looked up at Kai. “—Separate, please…” she answered a bit quieter. The woman was quick to arrange that fishing out two adjacent room keys and setting them on the table. Once everything was put together, Dasha started up the stairs to the correct room number. Bright Star once again was forced to lift the coconut and carry it up the steps, but at least then it was only one set of stairs.
Putting her stuff in her room, Dasha briefly checked the mirror, frowning softly before she checked the time as well. They had about an hour until the first trial, but she really didn’t want to be too pressed for time but she really wanted to do her makeup but time but make up but ti— “Chuuu?” Dasha’s gaze dropped, and she found Bright Star staring up at her uncertainly. Dasha smiled a bit and reached down to pat her.
“Let’s see what Kai wants to do first,” she spoke, standing again before starting out into the hall.

Yeah.. That was fair and probably should have been his prediction. He simply smiled and nodded, then finished making the arrangements and paying the woman. Not until he made it to the room would his smile fall away and be replaced by a light groan. Immediately after tossing his bag down on the bed, he made a beeline for the tv to turn it on. It would feel a lot more awkward to break the silence when coming in late at night, so he'd rather it still be on a low volume when he got back tonight.
He then poured the contents of his bag out and spread on one side of the bed to be able to quickly see and grab whatever he might need, and then... realized he wasn't sure if they were planning anything before the next trial or not. He shuffled back into the hall, relieved to see her just out of her room as well.
One hand moved briefly up in a half-hearted wave. "Anything in particular you wanted before we head out? A light lunch or trip to look at souvenirs, perhaps. Or we could go a bit early and get to know the trial site."
