Hm?? ... Ehehe. It was nice to see Dasha getting kind of fired up about this, even if some part of him still wondered how much of that was in the proper spirit and how much was that sense of projection he was getting earlier. Well, if it got her actively participating, that was a plus.
"All right.. If it comes down to it, she can dance with you, but for now..." He looked around at their little group. "Laska, would you mind letting her practice for Bright Star while you and I look around the ruins for a partner more her size?"

Dasha gave a small, determined nod at Kai. Looking back to Bright Star, she reached over to ruffle the Pikachu’s ears briefly. “Help her practice, Bright, no funny business, alright?” she spoke quickly before standing again. The Pikachu grinned a bit mischievously for a moment before looking over at the Kirlia and hopping over. Raising both arms up, she waited for the Kirlia to lead. The latter looked a little uncertain but gave a smallish nod and slowly took the Pikachu’s hands. Oh— this was a little less smooth than she was used to, but she could move alright, right?
Standing up to her full height again, Dasha stretched momentarily before finding herself looking around. A pokemon more the Kirlia’s size wasn’t going to be that hard, was it? The Alakazam from earlier was too large, but there had to be others, right? Right. Shifting forward, she’d come out to the more open space from before and find her gaze flickering around the area slowly. Hmmm… That was Musharma over there looked too comfortable doing whatever their species actually did… while the Espeon in the tree had four legs. Wait a second what was that mesh of pink over there? “Are they… birds?”

Seeing Bright Star try, Kai's lip quirked. He'd meant for her to be an audience, but he supposed this was as good or better (and cuter for them, hehehe). He was glad they were looking for a proper partner rather than just throwing a Pokemon like Bright at her though, heh.
And speaking of proper--! Are they birds? Kai fought not to look or sound too bewildered. "Never seen Oricorio? Their compulsive mimicry of any and all dancing means they might be the ideal counter to our little allegedly-cheating friend, if we can convince one of them to help us out." Heading over, he'd squint, trying to spot which one looked most receptive or...
Ah, what was that Mime Jr. in the group doing? (Speaking of mimicry, heh.) Ah, it looked distressed and wasn't a telepathic species, was it? This might prove a bit more difficult to understand.

Glancing sideways at Kai, Dasha raised an eyebrow. That was an Oricorio? “I’ve seen the … red one?” she ask-stated looking back to the fluid mesh of fluff that were the pink bird Pokemon. They looked so different from the red Baile style that she’d seen on the cover of one of the Alolan magazines she’d picked up, but this form was clearly not it.
Still, she’d follow after Kai as he moved. As she got close enough to watch the Mime Jr., however, Dasha frowned a little softly. The small Pokemon seemed to be scurrying around only to come back and chatter amongst Oriocorio before running off again? Was it… searching for something or maybe just working up the nerve to say something or??? Dasha’s gaze flickered around trying to see if anything stood out.
Meanwhile, the Mime Jr. would register the two humans that had approached and rather quickly came over clasping his hands in front of himself. Dasha tilted her head, but almost immediately after, the small Mime began…. Miming. Oh, of course. “What is it— what are you –“ Dasha was finding it hard find words. “Do you need something or—“ Immediately the Mime nodded fiercely, and Dasha nodded back. Ok…. “What’s it look like?”

Kai held back a bit as Dasha started asking the Mime Jr. for details. If she'd take the lead on handling this, all the better. ..In fact, he'd let her handle that while he moved past to the Oricorio. Kneeling down near the group, he greeted, "Hey there." They all shied back and looked to him disapprovingly.
Meanwhile, the Mime Jr. had begun hula dancing with big emphatic gestures, then grabbed his waist, then flung his hands outward and looked shocked. He then put a hand over his brow and leaned forward and into his motions as he rotated at the waist and looked all around.
Kai frowned back to the Oricorio. "What's wrong..?" They turned up their beaks, but amidst the silent treatment, he thought he heard on in the middle of the group sobbing.

Dasha’s brows furrowed. She …. was not the best at charades, but she kind of got what he was doing and what he was looking for? A skirt or maybe a hula hoop? Blue eyes slowly raised— only to fixate on the skirts of the Oricorio for a few seconds. It was looking for one of those maybe? Or maybe it was a grass skirt? Or? Was she totally off base here? “A skirt? Like… one of theirs?” she asked gesturing towards the Oricorio. The Mime Jr. nodded vigorously again and made the searching gesture again. Not a key… Dasha sighed softly but put that in the back of her mind for now. They were doing this for the Kirlia right now anyways.
Blue eyes raised up and around, searching for the missing item. As she caught something pink in the trees, however, Dasha squinted. “Kai… is one of them… missing ah… skirt?” she asked after a moment.
Post by Takeki Kaimana on Dec 11, 2017 16:12:56 GMT -8
Kai. Hm?? He perked up perhaps a bit harder than he should have and a moment after wondered why. Is one of them missing a skirt?"I'll check." ... Oh. Ha. It was because this was the first time he could recall her addressing him as 'Kai' instead of 'Commander', wasn't it? There was no particular reason that should have stood out, honestly; they just hadn't spent any time around each other off the clock before (Halloween aside, but even that was in the office with coworkers), and it just happened to be the first time today she needed to get his attention. It just... vaguely pleased him he guessed, heh. Ah, even drinking with Sam she called him 'boss' or 'chief' or the like, didn't she? That probably made this feel nicer now.
While that little diversion ran in his background thoughts, though, he'd carefully try to navigate around the Oricorio without upsetting them too much, he'd look over until he spotted the one he'd heard whimpering and shooed a few others aside for just a moment to see. She squawked loudly in embarrassment and dove behind her friends to hide once more, them all covering her and glaring at Kai. "Ah. Yeah, seems so. The Mime Jr. know something about it?"
The mime in question would point up at a tree... then stop and frown, hand to his chin thoughtfully as he pointed less confidently at a different tree? Then... or was it that one...?
"Ah." ... He could have Vine climb and look if it came down to it, but they hadn't used any Pokemon so far aside from Bright Star helping the Kirlia practice, so if they could do this on their own, actually... "How are you at climbing?" Those branches looked low enough for him to reach with a jump, at least on several trees...
Post by Dasha Laska on Dec 11, 2017 16:25:01 GMT -8
Dasha’s eyes flickered from tree branch to tree branch, but she was pretty sure that pink thing up there was actually what they were looking for? It had the same shade as the rest of the Oricorio. But… How are you at climbing. Dasha’s eyes dropped to Kai again, and for a moment, her features lit. “Just watch,” was all she’d answer before walking over to the tree she was pretty sure had the item in question.
Kicking off the shoes she’d been wearing and pulling off her socks as well, she’d fold those into her shoes and then shift her hand over the tree. Ah yeah, these even had little inlets that were easy to grip. Fluidly, she reached up to the first branch and began ‘walking’ up the tree before shifting around to the branch. Crouching and then standing, she grabbed another branch and pulled herself up easily again and again. It was… pretty clear this might have actually been a sport or hobby to her at some point in time, heh.
As she came up to the branch with the pink thing, however, Dasha squinted. It… didn’t look like a skirt but a mess of feathers? Uhm? Fishing it up anyways, she glanced down to Kai again. “Catch.”

Oh?? Ha~ For about a second and a half, he was pretty surprised by how readily she tackled the task and how deftly she moved, given how prim and proper she could carry herself at times. But then, she did take a vacation to go camping, didn't she? ...And with her dad, didn't she say? Ha. Yeah, no surprise that hanging out with a man that looked like that would involve some workouts, haha.
He made his way under the tree after her, the Mime Jr. close behind and mimicking Kai's step timing and gait as he walked. Kai would catch the pink mass as it was thrown, smiling briefly before handing it off to the Mime Jr. "This what you needed?"
He clapped and spun around excitedly before taking it and running to the Oricorio, who would enthusiastically begin celebrating as they reunited their friend with it. Kai wouldn't notice one of them running off to grab the Mime Jr.'s treasure in return, as he had turned to grin back up at Dasha right after handing it off. "Need me to catch you, too~?" he teased, and immediately regretted it, what a stupid thing to say.

Watching as Kai handed off the item and it was returned to the Oricorio, Dasha smiled a bit leaning against the trunk. She could see quite a bit from here, couldn’t she? It was a lovely view. The tease, however, had her glancing back down again. Pffffttttt??? Had he been a bigger man, more comparable to her father, she might have actually jumped and tested out that theory. Instead, she snorted and started climbing down. “Think I’ve got it,” was all she’d call as she scaled back down using the same grips and footholds she’d found before.
Hopping down to the ground again, she’d brush off her hands and then fish her socks back out of her shoes, pulling them on again comfortably before stepping into said shoes. “The view is really nice, though, if you want to climb up yourself.” Both socks on, both shoes on, there all good again. Stretching, she rolled both shoulders and flashed a bit of a grin. She really did enjoy a good climb.

Shaking off his momentary embarrassment easily enough, Kai glanced over at the celebrating Oricorio and waited for Dasha to get resituated. At the suggestion, he'd look up at the tree. "Mm? Maybe when we're all done with--"
There was an excited cry from the Mime Jr. that drew his attention back, and some of the Oricorio were presenting him with a small gold piece. "Would you look at that~ Two birds with one Stone Edge it seems." ... Was that morbid to say around Oricorio? Whoops heh.
The Mime in turn ran over to Kai and Dasha to present them with the key piece. "Thank you kindly~" They headed over to the Oricorio then. "Scuse me. Now that you're all feeling better, any chance one of you might help us with a little dance competition?"
Post by Dasha Laska on Dec 11, 2017 18:17:24 GMT -8
Bending down to the Mime Jr., Dasha accepted the key piece and inserted it into her bag with the other one. One more to go then if she was remembering correctly. Looking back up as Kai addressed the Oricorio, she glanced sideways at the Mime Jr. who was mimicking her stance. Smirking a bit, she made a small shift of her hips that was also copied. It was… pretty cute wasn’t it? She’d have to catch one sometime.
The Oricorio, meanwhile, looked at each other uncertainly before looking back at Kai again. They supposed considering he’d helped by extension, they could help him out. But who was the Best dancer among them? Well, actually, most of them knew which. A beautiful Shiny stepped forward, her skirt twirling and her head moving to some unknown beat. She would do it!
“Alright….. let’s get back to Bright and the Kirlia then…”
Bright Star and the Kirlia had been having quite a bit of fun goofing off rather than practicing. The Pikachu had set up a light screen to flicker and glisten beautifully above them, but what had started as beautiful dancing had turned into jumping around, tickling, and giggling. As Dasha came back into the area, Bright would instinctively look up and wave an arm. “Chuuu!” Dasha’s eyebrow raised, but a small smile did come to her features.
Post by Takeki Kaimana on Dec 11, 2017 18:43:11 GMT -8
As they came back up on the Kirlia, Kai couldn't help but grin at her and Bright's little game. Sure, they were 'supposed' to be 'practicing', but... ah...~ "Feeling more relaxed, sweetie?"
The Kirlia stiffened for a moment as if she'd been caught, but then smiled sheepishly as a vague blush came to her face. <I am, I think...> That was good. She noticed the Oricorio, then, and-- !!! <I--!? Is she--!?>
Kai nodded. "This lovely lady's agreed to be your dance partner." He slowly winked. "We'll see how your brother likes moves and abilities influencing the outcome now, mm?" At minimum, any Oricorio should have been able to match her brother, but with this one seeming to be revered by the others, hopefully she'd be able to do that and more. "Now, where was your brother?" The boys were in for quite a surprise, ehehe.
Post by Dasha Laska on Dec 11, 2017 19:03:41 GMT -8
It took a couple deep breaths for the Kirlia to calm down and compose herself, but after that, she did her best to perk up. Right, she could do this with the help of this nice lady! Bright Star still managed to startle her slightly with a pat on the back, but it was appreciated after the fact. Leading the group out and up the steps, she found her brother and his Meowstic dance partner easily enough.
Even on seeing the Ralts, however, the Kirlia started to cower slightly. She… she could do this… She could…. Suddenly the Oricorio stepped forward confidently and set a wing on her back in assurance. O-oh, ok, alright… right <B-brother! I challenge you t-t-to a dance competition! A-a-and if I win! You have to give back t-the treasure!> she squeaked a bit more than necessary.
The Ralts and his Meowstic friend tilted their heads before suddenly bursting into unnecessarily loud laughs. The Kirlia blushed and looked down. Dasha… Dasha might have been headed right up towards the Ralts to punt that little—

Kai frowned as the boys laughed at her challenge. The real battle here was probably going to be maintaining her confi-- Dasha? D-- "Dasha!" He reached out to grab her shoulder maybe a little more firmly than necessary (or maybe he could have spared a little more given how intense she could get but his author digressed). "You can't--"
Handle a trial with as violent a solution as he was expecting judging from the look on her face and the way she'd been moving, but... If the fallout after the Genesect raid had taught him anything about her it was that she did not take being scolded well. So he bit his tongue and instead decided to emphasize, "This is her battle to win for herself."
That got another snicker out of the boys, and Kai frowned down at them. "Unless they're too afraid of losing to even face her." That straightened them up.
