Mission name: What Good is a Pretty Stone with no Knowledge? Participants: Arcadie Josette Ral Zurggo Catching?: No Spawning: 10 total Ruins spawns (one for each participant for five separate posts), increasing strength and word requirement as thread progresses; three puzzles starting after the third Pokemon spawn with word requirements To better explain: We would like three Pokemon spawns (two in each post; one for each of us), then a puzzle, another Pokemon spawn (one for each of us in a post), two more puzzles (one of which will be getting our stones, the last being a puzzle for us to figure out how to accomplish Mega Evolution), and a final "boss" fight that we need to figure out how to Mega Evo in order to defeat (again, one each). Mission details: Goal: Mega Knowledge and a usable stone. Arcadie and Ral have both found Keystones during their wanderings and mega stones as well, but what the heck are they for? Arcadie decides she wants to figure out what is going on with these pretty stones -- because her Pokemon like them too much for them to just be regular stones -- and finds a rumor about some ruins in some mountains around Aleal. She knows Ral lives there and figures she can con him into helping her even if he already knows what she's looking for. Turns out he doesn't. So they both go to these ruins to gain some knowledge on these fancy stones and run into quite a bit of resistance from the local Pokemon. None of them seem keen on humans coming into the ruins but Arcadie does not waste her time and pushes forward. Eventually there seems to be a lull in the wildlife and Arcadie begins to lose hope, only for Ral to activate a "trap" that reveals a puzzle that will lead them deeper. More resistance followed by a puzzle that will unlock the way, but also "drop" a usable stone (as requested in reward portion). Finally, they will be faced with a puzzle that should end up teaching them how to activate the stones and then be faced with a challenge they would be unable to pass unless they succeed in Mega Evolution. Reward: Mega Knowledge + One Mega Stone Each (Sablenite for Arcadie; Aerodactylite for Ral) "In Aleal...?""Well, yeah. Have you seen the mountains there? There's probably a ton of stuff hiding in those things, but I got this information from a sound source. Someone I trust.""I understand. Thank you for the information," Arcadie said while handing the man some more money for his troubles and the information. Why did it have to be Aleal? Ah, well... maybe it wasn't such a bad thing. About a week passed while she prepared herself for the frigid lands and whatever dangers she and her team might face. Only her strongest team members would come with her: Ficelle, Espirit, Soleil, Diamant, Fée, and Joseph, one of the newest additions to her group. The idea of carrying a big ol' bag of stuff really was not a pleasant idea to the spoiled girl, but she wanted something... and if there was anything good that one could say about her, getting what she wanted was it (even though that's not usually something said in a nice manner). So... in true Arcadie fashion, she managed to not just rent, but buy a sled and rent some dogs to lead it. She was told they weren't trained to fight at all, not that she cared. After getting all this and herself shipped from her home in Caravella to the snow-covered landscape of Aleal, she made sure she knew where she was going and headed into town to make sure she'd head in the right direction. "Excuse me... Do you know of the Rock-type Gym Leader? More importantly, do you know of where I might find him?" As far as the person she asked knew, he was at his gym... which was in the mountains in ~that~ direction. ... Gee, thanks. Arcadie just shook her head and waved the person off before heading toward the mountains and this... supposed cave his gym supposedly resided in. This trip would help her learn that the sled dogs she hired were very well trained at what they did and she was very grateful for that in the negative thirty-something degree weather she'd gotten herself into. Once finally to the cave, she set up the dogs and the sled off to the side where they could rest up a little while she headed in to get the attention of the Aleal City Rock-Type Gym Leader. She'd get his help... one way or another.

Ral was sitting in his chair in the gym arena. with no purpose of the day set forth, no set ambitions set for the day no goals, nothing, not even a challenger.
Ral had a white cloak on thicker then normal due to the weather, in his hands was a stone he was playing with. 'Wish I knew what this thing was!' Ral thought to himself as the moved the stone from between his index finger and middle finger to the middle of his pinky finger and ring finger.
Ral let all thoughts flow away from him just memorizing this stone. It was quite and peaceful he had thought. until the quietness was broken by foot steps echoing off the tunnel walls. Ral put the stone into his cloak and rested his elbow on his knee and chin on his hand as he waited for this challenger or victim to approach the arena.

Arcadie had been reluctant to actually enter the cave and was hoping there was like a... doorbell or something but no. So the girl was forced to head down into the dank, dark, gross cave. It seemed like such a long walk and she began to worry this was the wrong cave. That is until she noticed there was an opening at the end of the tunnel.
"Oh, thank goodness," she murmured to herself as she ruffled up her coat at the cold. Walking into the arena area, she looked around. After taking in the broken, menacing area, she focused her attention on Ral and his throne. She offered her best tired-but-polite smile with a tinge of concern added in. All of it was fake, enhanced slightly for effect. If he thought she was suffering, was he going to be her knight in shining armor?
"Ral. Finally. I... I came a little sooner than I thought I would. I'm sorry if it's an inconvenience, but..." The woman hung her head a bit, showing how humiliated she was by the situation... but it also served to hide her face so she could be prepared when he came to comfort her -- or so she expected.

Ral's cold gaze had fallen upon Arcadie who had entered his arena. Looking down on to this woman Ral couldn't put his finger on why she was here, 'Is she here to challenge me or is she here for my help as she claims?'
Still not saying anything just staring at her with his cold eyes. Seeing how Arcadie seemed up set made it hard to hold back a smile on Ral's face. 'Has the hen come to the wolfs lair?' Ral had stood up with this thought. Looking down at the ashamed Arcadie, Ral broke his silence in a cold voice "What brings you here Arcadie? Are you here for my help? If so what do you need? or perhaps you are here to challenge me?" Ral had pulled a pokeball out from his cloak, in case she came out that she had in fact came to challenge him.

He stood up! It was working... or not. Shit. Oh well... Even if it wouldn't have the same dramatic effect, her plan was not ruined. As he stood there, asking her if she needed help or if she was there to challenge him -- she shook her head at the second -- she began to tremble slightly.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have bothered you. I know you're busy, but I just thought... you may know the mountains better --" Her voice cracked slightly and then she looked up, tears starting to slide down her cheeks. "I don't know if I can do it on my own."
Come on... No one can resist the freaking tears. He had to help her now. She'd perfected her crying face.

A smirk had come to his face he knew her tears were fake, he has seen a lot of trainers leave crying in defeat. So you sought me out in hopes I can help navigate you over the mountains?" Ral had thought this sounded funny but she did have his curiosity perked up so he thought he play along with it, not every day Ral gets the person he wants in his gym.
Steeping down from his throne he approached Arcadie, with arms crossed and heartless eyes on hear in wait to hear her out.'Even tho this is an act those tears make her more adorable.' This thought had crossed his mined when he took a better look at her face, at least what he could see.

Arcadie kept it up at first... but the tears didn't seem to be working. Not how she intended, anyway. As he approached, her face turned stony and she took out a handkerchief from her pocket. Wiping away tears, she sniffled slightly and just gazed at him carefully. "Yeah. I was hoping, anyway," she muttered. "I was trying to figure out what these orbs my Pokemon and I found were."
Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out a Keystone and a Sceptilite and showed them to Ral. She wasn't acting anymore. No point to appeal to someone's better side if it wasn't there or they wanted to resist so hard. "I heard something about ruins in the mountains near Aleal that held information about them. I'll figure it out, though. You don't have to come."
Arcadie pocketed the orbs and turned to start her long trek back out of this dumb cave. It was dark and cold and she was just entirely done with this whole thing... or maybe it was reverse psychology. Whatever it was, she didn't seem to be slowing down unless outright stopped.

The orb was like the one he had but a different color, Ral had interest in what she called "orbs". With letting his arms down and the coldness in his eyes drift away Ral had spoken up."I will come, no need to have a pretty woman as yourself become a frozen statue in the mountains. Where did this information tell you to start your search? any specific mountain? or direction?" Ral waited for her to turn around, at least he thought she would, she did come out this way to ask him to assist her after all.

Arcadie did stop, but she didn’t turn around immediately. Instead, she stood there a moment after his question. Then, with a humph, she turned and crossed her arms, asking, ”Why would I need your help if I had that information?” She was a spoiled brat, after all, and now she was grumpy because he had seen through her act.
”My best guess would be wherever is least active. Is there a particular mountain that doesn’t have many Pokémon on it?” It probably wasn’t the most useful guess but she didn’t have much to go off. If she’d realized Ral wouldn’t be so willing to help her, she would’ve just hired someone. Oh well... Hey, maybe she still could...

"You have a good point." Ral was slightly annoyed by the snarky remark. He had remind silint not long as he listened and thought of what she had said. "There are a few places like that around here Three to be exact, two of them are easy and one that really isn't. if I was to put money on this I would say what we are looking for would be in the harder one.
Ral knew this would be their best area to start, and would allow him more time with Arcadie; Sassy or not he still enjoyed her company. regardless of his own desires.
Speaking up again in a less mono tone voice "Allow me to get a few things together and set a decent team to bring and I should be ready to go. Ral offered her a gentle smile before turning around and gathering what he would need for this journey.

The girl simply nodded in response to his guess. Arcadie would assume the same. The harder it was to get there, the more likely it was they'd find the ruins she was told about. "I brought a lot of supplies... and I expected you'd come with me, so there's enough food for the two of us and twelve Pokemon to eat for a week. It's not all the best food, but it works. I also brought shelter. So... just don't pack too much."
With that, she'd turn her back on him, facing once again down the tunnel that lead out of the cave gym. All he really needed was more insulated clothes, his Pokemon, and maybe whatever personal supplies he could want. Whatever the case, she was not too pleased that he didn't react as expected. What kind of person reacts that way to a beautiful, distraught girl's tears that way, anyhow?

Ral had walked up and stood next to Arcadie, he was in a black cloak with thick fur lining and black gloves on and a black scarf with a hiking bag on. "Shall we get going?" Ral had asked Arcade with a gentle look on his face. "I have heard there might be a storm coming soon, so we should get as far as we can before it starts."
Ral hope'd this little information didn't scare her, but most of all that a he had hope'd it wasn't going to happen. Ral had made a "after you suggestion" with good manners towards Arcadie.
"I just hope there isn't going to be a lot of Ice-types where we are going, I would be in trouble if there was." Ral said slightly serious and joking.

Looking over to him out of the corner of her eye, Arcadie looked over his warmer winter attire. With a nod, she started to move. "I agree. Although the sled dogs I rented could probably keep going through a storm. Better not to push them too far, I guess." The girl couldn't help but snicker at his comment, regardless of whether it was meant to be joking or not. "I guess we'll find out. Don't worry, Soleil and I will protect you."
She smirked back at him and before she knew it, they were outside. A few of the sled dogs perked up when she exited the cave and as she walked over to the spot she had set them up, they were all getting up and ready. The sled itself had plenty of stuff on it but there was also room for someone to sit. "I took a quick class on how to drive this thing. The dogs are all well trained. Whenever you're ready, take a seat and bundle up."

Ral had followed the young woman outside and listened to everything she had said. With her suggesting for him to get on the slay he raised an eyebrow "So I am the princes in this ride?" Ral tried to hold the laughter in on this one.
Taking a quick look to the sky, nothing but grey clouds."looks like the storm might be getting here in the next couple of hours." Ral got into the sled without any more comments. with pointing north, Ral told her where their destination laid "beyond that ridge is where we want to be, be careful of gorges that have been covered by snow and ice." Ral pulled a folded stick out of his pack,"We can use this to make sure there is solid ground underneath us when we need to."

"I mean... unless you know how to drive one of these things," Arcadie suggested with a smirk. If he did, that would be somewhat impressive. Was it a normal way to traverse this land or a random, useless skill that he randomly picked up? Of course, she doubted he really knew, anyhow. As she looked up to the sky, she sighed. Well, damn...
With his instruction, she started to shift the sled. It took a fair amount of effort, but the scrawny little thing was a bit more fit than she seemed. After all... she did enjoy her sweets and if she didn't exercise, she'd just get fat and that just wouldn't do for the stage. So once they were fully facing north, she planted her feet on the boards and mushed the dogs forward. They were on their way and she intended to make as much progress as she could before they had snow and wind to deal with.
There wasn't much to say at this point and so she didn't try to start conversation. Instead, she focused on the way ahead, keeping a lookout for any signs of unsteady ground so she could readjust. Just as Ral had predicted, a storm beset them after only a couple hours. Their pace slowed, but both Arcadie and the dogs pressed forward. There were a few times she had to change their path to avoid what she suspected was breakable ice or a divide they could've fallen in.
By the time they hit four hours, the storm was just too thick. There wasn't any seeing beyond this and she didn't want to put them, much less the rented dogs in danger. So she brought the sled to a stop and considered whether they could manage to get the tent she had brought into position without the wind taking it. She didn't have too long to really think about it, though... Trouble brewed.
