| It was a rather dreary day in Liggs, even more so in the mountain valleys. The sun was hidden by a thick layer of grey clouds, that seemed to threaten snow at any moment. A chillingly frigid wind blew sharply, whistling among the trees and rocks. The snow today did not sparkle, but simply seemed like a foreboding freezing layer on the ground. It was still about eleven in the morning, so it wasn’t to late in the day, and it certainly wasn’t going to get any warmer.
Though Alanna had waited as long she could, she had to do some training today. She was training some of her less used, and also some of her new additions today. They required her attention, even more so now that she had to leave for so long. Some of them had been neglected while she was away, and she had not taken the time previous to train them. She actually felt rather guilty about this. So today she was training Rhythm her Buneary, and a few of her other Pokémon. Alanna had even left Tesla at the house to help take care of things while she was gone, but it was rather lonely not having him with her as she trekked deeper into her mountain home.
Pulling out a Pokeball she had painted to resemble a snowy canyon, she smiled. She knew the Pokémon within would enjoy getting to romp in the snow, after all it was her natural habitat. “Ani, why don’t you come out for a walk.” She held the Pokeball out as a red beam of light struck the snow not far from her. As the beam of light dissipated, a young Amaura stood in front of her, it gave a happy cry. Trotting excitedly through the snow to Alanna, the Amaura snuggled up against her side chattering happily. A soft cheerful laugh left the young woman as she pushed the Amaura away gently. “Okay, we’re out here to train today, we can play when we get home okay?” She soothed the Amaura with her gentle offer, as she stroked the Pokémon’s head. The Amaura gave a soft nod before moving to stand at Alanna’s side, clearly understanding they were on a mission today.
With her companion now settled down, the pair returned to their path, heading deeper into the wild of the Liggs mountains. Alanna however walked with a gloved hand resting on the Amaura’s back.
Traveling at an easy pace for about an hour, Alanna and her Pokémon companion, soon found themselves in a snow filled clearing. Several snow drifts had formed and created what looked like a natural snowy playground almost. Alanna could feel Anikira quivering under her hands, itching to go roll and play in the snow drifts. This brought a soft laugh from the young woman. She knew they had been traveling for awhile now, and that even during training you needed to take a break. Especially when you were finding nothing to train with. The poor Amaura was bored, and wanted so badly to god play. Who was she to say no? Besides maybe stopping here for a bit would attract someone for them to train against. “Okay, okay Ani. You win we can stop and play for a bit.” A warm smile had spread across the young woman’s features as she stroked the Amaura’s back. Pulling out her other five Pokeballs she spread them out in her hands. Why not let them all play in the snow together?
“Alright guys, come on out and let’s play in the snow!” She called cheerfully, as she activated the Pokeballs releasing her other Pokémon into the clearing. Five beams of red light simultaneously lit up the snow as five forms appeared inside the light. As the light dissipated standing the snow was now a Buneary, a Litleo, a Rockruff, a Riolu, and a Popplio. Standing the snow, they stared at Alanna, looks of slight confusion on their faces. “I thought we could play in the snow for a while. I know we are supposed to be training, but play is just as important.” She explained with an eager smile and a raised finger. “Now go have fun.” She urged sweetly, all of the Pokémon rushing off and beginning to do their own activities together. All except for the Riolu.
The Riolu moved closer to Alanna looking up at her. “It’s okay Alora, why don’t you go play. I know Rhythm would love to have your help building her snowman.” For some reason ever since Alanna had returned, Alora had wanted nothing to with the other Pokémon. She had been acting cold and distant even from Rhythm whom had become her best friend. Speaking of the Buneary she had rolled her bottom snow ball across the clearing and up to the Riolu. “Bun, bun, Buneary bun.” The little Buneary urged hopefully pulling on the Riolu’s paw.
“See go on and play.” Alanna was really hoping maybe some training and play time would help Alora settle back into being a ranch Pokémon. Giving a small nod the Riolu finally began to help the Buneary start rolling a new ball around in the snow to form the second ball of the snowman.

| Alanna had found a log in the snow and placed a blanket from her bag over it as a seat. Here she sat watching her Pokémon, enjoy the snow. Amaura, Buneary, and Riolu had almost finished their snowman, while the others had taken to having a snowball fight. A bright and cheerful smile had spread over the young woman’s features as she watched.
Though she soon found her gaze shifting to the cloudy sky. In the clouds something caught Alanna’s keen gaze, bobbing and spinning along in the brisk wind, was what appeared to be a star shaped comet. A form she knew well. She had two of them back at the ranch. It was a Minior, a sweet and beautiful Pokémon, though dangerous for their tendency to explode. As she watched the Minior move across the sky, she couldn’t help but notice that it seemed to be moving in their direction. She wondered if it had been drawn in by the ruckus her Pokémon were creating. She was beginning to worry that she and her Pokémon would soon be in danger, but knew this would be a good place to train.
Her Amaura had several attacks that would be good for using against a floating opponent. Looking down at her six Pokémon once more, she saw her Litleo bouncing around on the ground eager to bat at the incoming Minior. That was not a good sign, if anything the eagerness to attack the Minior would piss it off. The Amaura had also take notice of the intruder to their playtime and had taken a rather defensive stand among the other smaller Pokémon.
The Minior had now come down to hover about a yard off the ground, its body spinning back and forth as it observed the playing Pokémon. Then out of nowhere the Minior released a powerful barrage of glimmering stars that headed straight for her Amaura, and her other Pokémon that had gathered in curiosity. The Amaura however reacted quickly releasing big burst of snow from her body, that acted as a shield protecting them as the stars slammed against what was now a thick flurry of snow. Racing from the snow and towards the now standing Alanna, her Amaura stood alone in the now dissipating snow cloud.
Relieved to see that Ani was unharmed Alanna stood ready. “Ani, use Ice Beam!” Her command came clear, but holding a hint of irritation. Giving an angry cry at being attacked, the Amaura opened her mouth releasing a powerful beam of freezing blue light that slammed into the Minior knocking it away several feet. This only seemed to cause the Minior to grow more aggressive, as it released another barrage of stars at Ani.
“Dodge and use Powder Snow!” Her commands came swiftly, with the fluid knowledge of what Ani was capable of. With the command Ani ducked and dodged to the side, before releasing a harsh wave of freezing cold snow, that quickly enveloped the Minior in a cloud obstructing its view and ability to attack. “Follow up with an Ice Beam!” Alanna wasn’t about to let this Pokémon get away with attacking for no reason. It could have hurt them!
Opening her mouth, Ani quickly followed up the power snow attack, with another frigid beam of freezing ice, that impacted with the Minior causing the snow cloud to evaporate. As the Minior came into view, it had begun to glow and pulsate, Alanna knew this was its last-ditch effort to damage. “Ani Use Aurora Beam and knock that thing outta here!” She ordered hurriedly hoping that the attack would hit before the Minior could explode.
Opening her mouth once more, the Amaura released a glimmer beam of energy from her mouth. The attack struck just as the Minior exploded, the Aurora beam knocking the Minior, back and lessening the shock wave and power of the Self Destruct. The explosion however kicked up snow and debris from the ground throwing it in their faces. However, as the snow and debris settled, it was clear that now one was to badly harmed. Ani had a few scrapes and minor bruising but nothing a berry couldn’t heal.
Trotting proudly over to Alanna, the Amaura was rewarded with berries to heal, and many warm loving pets. “Good job girl you did amazing.” Alanna cooed to her Pokémon as she stroked the Amaura’s head. With the battle over, and everyone taken care of Alanna, and her Pokémon settled back into playing. All of them now working to repair Rhythm’s snowman.

| Not far off in the distance near the small stand of trees on the other side of the clearing, A figure appeared in what seemed to be a boxing uniform of some sort. It seemed to be shadow boxing as it moved through the clearing. Alanna and Alora both however took quick notice of the figure. Before Alanna ha a chance to move, Alora the Riolu was darting across the snow, a look pure admiration on her face. As Alanna was just beginning to make her way across the clearing, Alora had reached the Hitmonchan, where she began barking and chattering enthusiastically in admiration.
As Alanna reached the pair of Pokémon, the Hitmonchan had taken a knee, to talk to the much shorter Riolu. “Hey Alora, what’s up?” Alanna asked as she approached the wild Pokémon cautiously who looked up and gave a soft wave of greeting. “Hello there, I’m sorry about Alora interrupting you.” Alanna apologized sweetly to the wild Pokémon who simply gave her a dismissive wave, as if it weren’t a problem. It was nice to meet a friendly wild Pokémon to be honest.
Standing there in the snow clear admiration in shining in her eyes Alora, seemed to be begging the Hitmonchan for something. As the Hitmonchan waved its hand at Alora, shaking its head as if saying no. “What is it Alora? Do you want to battle?” Alanna asked kneeling down next to the Riolu who nodded vigorously in affirmation. Alanna couldn’t help but laugh at this. This had been the first time since she had come back to Veria that Alora had been enthusiastic about something. Looking at the Hitmonchan as she stood back up. “Would you mind having a battle with us? I know you’re probably stronger and much better in battle, but Alora really wants to battle.” Alanna was pleading on the behalf of her Pokémon who was pleading to battle.
It seemed finally as the Hitmonchan stood back it nodded its head with a sigh. The combined pleading finally seeming to dissolve the Hitmonchan’s resolve.
Now standing in the middle of the snow filled clearing, Alanna’s Pokémon having taken a place to watch the battle and cheer on their friend. As the Riolu stood across the field from Alanna and her Pokémon. “Alright Alora, Hitmonchan, you guys ready?” Alanna asked eager to get this under way. Alora answered by throwing a few punches and kicks into the air. While Hitmonchan simply raised its hands in front of its face, bouncing from foot to foot. “Alright Alora, Use Quick Attack!” She called their first move. Alora had challenged Hitmonchan so it was only right that she make the first move.
Giving an eager cry Alora took off at a dead run, darting from one side to the other. Her feet carrying her swiftly at the Hitmonchan. Jumping to slam head first into the Hitmonchan’s chest. Just before Alora impacted an ethereal blue wave formed in front of Hitmonchan, causing the Riolu to bounce off. “It’s okay Alora, use Force Palm!” Alanna called on encouragingly to her Riolu, who was standing up shaking off the snow. Giving a determined cry the Riolu put its paws together as a ball of pale blue energy left Alora’s palm.
The attack slammed right into the spot where Alora had attempted to impact with the Hitmonchan’s chest. This sent the Hitmonchan sliding back a bit, kicking up a small bit of snow in the process. “Don’t let up use Blaze Kick!” The more she trained and battled, the more Alanna felt her confidence rise not only in herself, but also in her Pokémon partners.
Giving a sly grin the Riolu ran from her place, leaping into the air she gave an agile flip in mid-air. As Alora came down her leg became slamming into the Hitmonchan’s shoulder. Taking the hit in the shoulder like a true fighting Pokémon. The Hitmonchan retaliated by making a volley of punches, hitting Alora twice sending her flying back toward Alanna, and rolling through the snow landing a few feet from Alanna. “Alora! Are you okay?” She cried in worry as she watched on in concern. Alora however stood up shaking the snow from her body. She seemed more fired up and determined than ever. “Alright! That’s my girl! Now use Quick Attack and follow it up with a Blaze Kick!” She ordered Hoping this would work.
Alora raced forward, once more at blazing speed. Alora reached such high speeds that her legs began to burn with a bright flame as she leaped into the air, coming down with another Blaze Kick landing right in the Hitmonchan’s chest sending it sliding back once more. This time it left bad burn across the Hitmonchan’s chest. Once again, the Hitmonchan launched another Comet Punch aimed right for Alora. “Use Counter!” Alanna called right as she saw the attack coming. Knowing this attack would hopefully end the battle. Just before the Comet Punch could land Alora dodged with great precision. With each missed strike the Riolu seemed to become faster, then when she was close enough landed a single powerful strike that sent the Hitmonchan to its knees.
“Okay that’s enough Alora!” Alanna called racing forward to check on the Hitmonchan. “Hey, are you okay?” Alanna asked kindly as the Pokémon sat back on its hind end. “Mon, monchan, Hitmonchan!” Alora had trotted up stand near the Hitmonchan as well now, smiling brightly clearly much happier after a battle. The Hitmonchan reached out rubbing Alora’s head. “Hitmonchan, monchan.” The Hitmonchan was speaking to the Riolu who seemed overjoyed by what by was being said. In this time Alanna dug into her bag pulling out an Oran Berry. “Here.” She offered the Hitmonchan the berry. “You battled hard you need it. Thank you again for battling Alora you made her really happy, and me too!” She breathed an internal sigh of relief as the Hitmonchan smiled up at her taking the berry, it munched it down happily.
Not long after recovering Alanna and Alora bid fair-well to the Hitmonchan, saying they hoped to meet again for a battle again some day.

| Sitting back down on the log where she had placed a waterproof blanket. Alanna called Alora over into her lap, while the rest of her ice Pokémon, and those who were fit for cold weather, resumed playing in the snow. “You did such a good job.” Alanna crooned in a soft voice, as she pulled a towel out of her bag and began wiping Alora down. She was shivering from her wet fur, the battle had caused her body to warm up and melt the snow on her coat. So, she was now quite wet with the melted snow. “I’m so proud of how hard you battled, you did such an amazing job.” Alanna couldn’t help but gush over the Riolu who had just defeated a Hitmonchan.
Once Alora was dry and clean Alanna wrapped her in a small blanket from her bag. “We’ll head home soon, it is starting to get late. Let me get others ready okay?” Alanna was talking to the Riolu who was now snuggled on the waterproof blanket beside her. Standing up she fished each Pokémon’s ball out of her pocket. “Alright guys, it’s time to go!” Alanna called to her Pokémon who were still busy playing. Though upon hearing Alanna’s call all of them but Litleo came running over. “Alright guys let’s head home.” Alanna said activating her Pokeballs to recall them all inside. However, glancing around Alanna spotted Delbeath still playing in the snow. “Del, come on it’s time to go home!” She called knowing the rest of her Pokémon were safely in their balls, even Alora was put away where she would stay warm.
Walking over to the Litleo who was clearing ignoring her. “Delbeath I said it’s time to go.” She spoke in a much sterner tone making the Litleo turn around. “Leo leo Litleo.” The Litleo was complaining as it turned around looking up at Alanna. “I know, but we can play more once we get home. I promise.” He knelt down softly stroking the Litleo’s head.
Far overhead the pair were being watched by a large steel like form. This form was now diving towards Alanna from behind. As the Litleo was looking up at her trainer she spotted the Skarmory diving at them over Alanna’s shoulder. Reacting quickly Delbeath grabbed Alanna, by the jacket and yanked her down into the snow. The Skarmory narrowly missed Alanna’s back it’s claws slicing through her hair just as she hit the ground. “What the!” Alanna cried in shock as she looked at Delbeath, who was now standing growling angrily at the Skarmory who was flapping Idly not far away.
The Skarmory giving an angry cry at its attack having narrowly missed. It readied for another dive, it’s steel wings glowing brightly. “Del, Hyper Voice now!” Alanna commanded hurriedly as she was picking herself up out of the snow. The Litleo opened her mouth releasing a loud powerful burst of piercing sound. The Skarmory stopped dead in its flight giving a pained cry, from being unable to cover whatever was its equivalent to ears. Finally, back on her feet Alanna knew better than to give the Skarmory a chance to attack. “Don’t let up! Use Incinerate!” She commanded, though Del had yet to let up the Hyper Voice.
Even still Litleo’s body began to glow red. Though instead of its entire body sending a blast of searing heat, it came out of Delbeath mouth in the form of a Flamethrower. The newly acquired attack struck the Skarmory before it could dodge, and turned its steel body bright red. As the Flamethrower cut off, a large flame streaked across the Skarmory. Alanna knew this meant it had been badly burned by the new attack. However, this didn’t send the Skarmory packing, as it launched a barrage of glimmering staring at Litleo by flapping its wings. “Dodge and use Take Down!” Alanna called defensively, as Litleo began to gain speed by dodging the Swift attack from Skarmory. Litleo jumped into the air slamming head first into the Skarmory knocking it down.
As the Skarmory hit the ground Alanna watched as flames erupted over its body. “Now, use Incinerate!” Alanna called hoping that this attack would finish it. The Skarmory struggled in to stand in the snow. As Delbeath’s body glowed red and a wave of immense heat and flames erupted hitting the still prone Skarmory. The attack sent clouds of steam bursting into the air, surrounding the downed Skarmory. Delbeath took this chance, to dart back to Alanna’s side, where she stood growling defensively.
As the steam cleared, it was clear that the Skarmory had been knocked finally. A heavy sigh left Alanna as she looked down at the Litleo. “Let’s get out of here before it wakes up.” She said softly as She turned leaving the clearing with Litleo at her side.
