Trainer SchoolThe air in the city was clear and... woody, she guessed. Caravella’s air wasn’t any less clear than Alterna’s, at least, not by much, but the scent was REALLY different, it wasn’t salty in the least, and it didn’t carry the occasional scent of flavored smoke, or the smell of masonry. Kazia was actually a little shocked the city smelled so different than Caravella; it never really occurred to her that other cities would smell different. It only took a few hours for the fascination to wear off, particularly when she managed to wander close enough to the Trainer School to hear about it. At first, she just peeked into the room, seeing what it was like, but after a few days, she was practically nesting outside one of the windows, using a notebook and pen to spy on the classes and take notes, standing, sitting, and even floating out there throughout entire school days. She had already gotten the attention of several of the students, but she shoved them away – quite literally in some cases, but she had managed to avoid meeting the teacher several times now. The damned kids were trying to get her into this mess – Kazia wanted to learn, but not from the teacher, she was absolutely fine with just spying – but she had managed to avoid the Gym Leader several times now. It was another day, and today’s subject was status conditions. Kazia was camped at the window yet again, being as sneaky as always with her hood up and crouched down next to the window. She had a notebook out again, scribbling notes down inside it. She stared intently off the bottom of the window, taking advantage of the mostly-empty classroom to write down what was on the board. Once again, she felt a little finger poke her in the back, jolting her out of her concentration and making her groan in frustration. “Hey, person, who are you?” This time, Kazia wasn’t bothering to turn around. She was starting to get really annoyed with these kids, constantly bothering around, and she just wasn’t having it anymore. Without any warning, or even any movement, the child suddenly found themselves whirling around to face away from her and pushed away. “I’m no one. Just go away and leave me alone.” Thankfully, the kid did what they were told, although they did it with the most confused look that anyone’s ever had in their life – not that Kazia bothered to check. She just grumbled, returning to her notes. Katie Weathers

"That's her?" Katie whispered at the tyke at her heels, who nodded and pointed over at her.
Well, it certainly LOOKED like her. Who was her, you may ask? A sneaky girl who was taking advantage of her lessons without proper adoration and respect! What did those sort of girls looked like? They looked like.. her! You know, hunched over and like.. dark colors and like... being mean to kids. Yeah. That's what one looked like.
Honestly, it really wasn't that which made the wannabe Gym Leader take notice and want to find out about it. Katie was just a busybody, who wanted to check on all her students all the time. When she heard that a kid was hovering around the lessons and occasionally taking notes, so Katie saw her as one of her students.. which made her in some way, Katie's responsibility.
She just had to learn more.
Katie pat the head of Matilda, a bookish girl who was a bit of a teacher's pet. Matila was a bit of a teacher's pet and had been trying to learn more about the girl for her "big sister" but quickly learned that curiosity sometimes killed the cat. A lesson she probably needed to learn someday but wasn't something Katie was going to be able to teach her.
Because she snuck right up over to Kazia, all hunched over.. totally not pretending she was a ninja, trying hard to get right next to her but then obviously getting noticed. Darn. "Hey there!" Katie chirped, pleasantly instead, waving. "Can I help you understand anything?" She opened with, which was her primary concern. She was worried that just a bunch of bullet points on a chalkboard was leaving Kazia with tons of questions and no one to get answers for. "This is my class, I'm sorry if you keep missing it~" It was a... positive assumption, but Katie liked to be generous with those.

Trainer SchoolKazia scribbled furiously; she didn't even know that the billboard wasn't telling her everything; as far as she assumed, what was on the board was what was there, so she wrote it down without any opinion towards the information, aside from its usefulness. She muttered under her breath as she wrote, parroting the words on the board. She was engrossed enough in it that she didn't notice several eyes on her, and with no preternatural senses cluing her in, she just kept writing as the Gym Leader snuck up on her. Kazia soon caught movement out of the corner of her eye though, her brow furrowing again. "I thought I told you kids to leave me alo-?!" She whirled around in annoyance, assuming that some kid was bothering her again, but then she turned around, going wide-eyed when she saw the Gym Leader instead of someone smaller. Meeting KaziaKazia cleared her throat, saving face, and closed her notebook. A part of her wondered why she didn't sense her coming, but she pushed that thought down for now, putting her notebook away in her pack before crossing her arms. She huffed, flipping the length of hair that covered her face, though it just fell back into place as she gazed coldly at the teacher. "I'm not interested in your help, I don't need it. I'm not a part of your class, I'm just..." She paused, looking away as she struggled for a brief moment to think of an excuse, quickly coming up with one, and shook her head, looking back at Katie, "I'm just taking notes on you to develop my strategy for you."

Now Katie was just a smidgeon disappointed when Kazia slammed that notebook all bashful, but only because she had hoped to get a glance. Kids of all ages, including the grown-up kind, liked to hide things. It was something Katie for the most part never understood. It seemed like the one part of her head that never quite turned on.
Which frustrated especially her, because to her the world was full of people she wanted to learn more about.
She put her hand on her hip and grinned, running her other hand through her hair and blushing just a teeny bit before putting it on the other. "Aw.. shucks..." It made her cheeks feel a bit fuzzy to have someone doing that kinda stuff for her. She supposed in just a little while that everyone would be doing that kinda thing, huh?
"That's really smart!" Her tone was excited, warm, but not particularly loud either. "Getting all prepared? I need to do that more often. I'm sorta the person that just jumps into stuff, you know?" She pantomimed like.. getting ready to leap, hunching over a bit, before standing straight and smiling again.
She cocked her head to one side though, and her tone became more inquisitive. "You know though, I think you would learn a lot more about me if you came to class though! I don't mind at all! Not because you need to know stuff, obviously, but like.. my kids know all about that kinda stuff and I use my Pokemon all the time in my lessons!"
She nodded and desperately wanted to offer her hand, but kept it on that hip. She didn't want to push too much on this kid. She dealt with shy kids before, plentya times. "Not that you need it obviously, you probably got all kinds of amazing Pokemon. Right?"

Trainer SchoolKazia glared coldly at Katie, moving a hand on her hip, preparing herself for Katie to tell her off, expecting to be told that her lie was wrong, or against the rules, or just that it was insulting. She had her had turned, already half-ignoring the girl, but her eyes widened subtly in surprise, though, when the Gym Leader did the exact opposite, making her turn her head back to Katie and stare at her. Even more, she actually complimented her for it! Kazia stared at her, mouth agape, completely and utterly surprised by her reaction, and legitimately unsure of how to react. In fact, she was even blushing at the surprise, the slightest tinge of pink on her cheeks. She pulled herself together quickly, though, and she scoffed, throwing her hair aside again and putting her hand over her eye as her hair fell back into place again. "I achieve the same effect by spying on you, and the added bonus of you not knowing who I am." She huffed softly, putting her hand on her hip before continuing. "Can't rely on that anymore now, though." Katie's other question made her blink again, looking at her with that subdued confusion. "I... I guess? I caught one coming here. It fought nicely, so I caught it...." She grimaced slightly, averting her eyes, disappointed that she couldn't mention more Pokémon.

Katie nodded knowingly, having to bow to the wisdom the kid displayed. "I guess that's true, you're one smart cookies." She giggled, smiling some more. "But now that I know... I mean if you still want some more, you know? It's only fair, right?" she grinned, hoping that would be enough. "Gym Leaders should always play fair, at least that's what the kids say. Plus everything isn't all the way put together..." she giggled nervously, playing with the back of her head.
Her response to Kazia's comment about the Pokemon lit her face. "Ooh? What kind of Pokemon was it? I bet it was pretty impressive that you kicked its butt, right? My Miltank has been having a rough time with some of the bugs as of late, hehe. Always playing with her tail!" She giggled, her hand waving back as if motioning towards it.
A couple kids were peeking nearby, interested in the spectacle, something Katie noticed at the corner of her eye. Had she promised to do something with them today?

Trainer SchoolKazia as knocked out of her shell a little bit more when, again, the Gym Leader just... praised her? She had absolutely no idea how to respond to Katie just half-randomly praising her for her Pokémon... they weren't even rare Pokémon, her second one actually coming from a swarm. Did rare Pokémon just not matter as much to lower class people? Was a Gym Leader even lower class? Kazia actually got distracted by that train of thought, ignoring Katie and her miltank as she legitimately weighed the knowledge of Gym Leaders that she had. But, between the fact that they were considered the strongest trainers in the area, and the fact that trainers can be from any social standing, she couldn't make a clear answer for herself. Eventually, a quiet call from Katie brought her back, shocking her out of her mind. She blushed lightly, then scoffed, speaking again with a blunt and taunting tone as she brushed her hair aside again, "If you wanna know the kind of Pokémon I have, it'd have to be through a battle. I won't show my hand unless I can get your badge from you." She even said this with a smirk, thinking herself clever.
