This…crisp sea air was doing something to Orion. He wasn’t exactly sure what it was, but as much as he wanted to curl under blankets and watch soap operas all day, he couldn’t seem to sit still. Even if every joint in him popped when he got moved, he wanted to run and climb and fight. Several hours at the gym did nothing for him. Training with the Pokemon in the backyard did nothing for him. Finally, he took his restless ass and went out to Old Pahala for a bit. Hopefully that would sate him even a little bit.
Nope, apparently it just had him tromping through the cold marsh water like an idiot, but here he was alongside a semi-anxious looking Poliwag and a rather irritable looking Froakie. They were some of his newer Pokemon and had been recruited for this little bonding exercise, but neither one was too happy about it. The Poliwag had never seen combat and kept looking around fearful of what she would find while the Froakie was just irritated in general that she had been recruited to do something that day at all. Ugh, whatever. It was kind of hard to keep up with Orion too even if the water slowed him a bit, ugh.

The sloshing of the water as the trio made their way through it would resound through the otherwise quiet expanse before them. That was, at least, until a familiar sound vibrated the air. It was enough to cause Orion to stop short if not his Pokemon right after him. They’d turn and look at him uncertainly, the Poliwag uncomfortably, the Froakie a little angrily. What were they doing now didn’t they need to— The sound would catch the Froakie’s ears this time, and she’d stop mid thought. What was… vibrating like that? It sounded like so many noises all at once?
Ah— there it was. A flash of orange hit Orion’s vision, and sure enough two more followed. The Buizel were thin, light, but easy to discern in the watery grasses. Four of them to start with eh? Yellow eyes raised upwards reflecting three Floatzel watching in the distance. He didn’t have to guess how likely it would be that they would run forward if he just started mowing them down. Heh. “Froakie, Smoke Screen, Poliwag Mud Shot, confuse and confound!” he ordered. The Froakie Bounced upwards, raising high above the water before forming a pair of spheres and tossing them down at the Buizel below. A dark mist burst forth clouding the area. Numerous Buizel were crying out confused. The Poliwag, meanwhile, stayed on the ground. Even with her vision somewhat obscured by the smoke, she was savy enough to know what was going on. Opening her maw, she released a gush of mud that smacked into several of the orange Pokemon.
Two yelped smacking into one another. Another two countered using a series of Swifts to clear the area. The Poliwag yelped in response, falling back and struggling to get up again. Meanwhile, Orion had refocused and was giving orders up above. “Bounce back down!” The Froakie rushed back downwards through the smoke smacking into one of the Buizel and then whipping around with a Smack Down to clobber another Pokemon.
As a cry of one Buizel hit the air, one of the Floatzel came barreling forward. Releasing an Inkay, Orion gave orders to her. “Foul Play and keep that Floatzel at bay,” was the only order. The Inkay went barreling at the Floatzel, knocking into his Double Hit as he swung it and taking the blow before returning with just as much force.
Meanwhile, the other two were successfully taking down their Buizel counterparts. The Froakie continued to confound and confuse them with Smoke and Bounces, and even when they were smart enough to return with a stream of stars, she was ready and fast. It would be as she finished off her two that she noticed yet another Floatzel coming forward. Hmph. With unforgiving pride, she rushed forward and slammed into the Floatzel with air power.
The Poliwag wasn’t doing as well, but she was trying none the less. It helped when the Inkay turned her attention to the scene and Psycho Cut one of the Buizel down. The Poliwag exhaled being able to finish hers right after. One more Floatzel was coming forward, and it would be the Inkay that dealt a devastating blow in the form of a Psycho Cut. The battle wasn’t quite finished, but they sure knew how to get it towards close.
Orion, meanwhile, gave plenty of orders. These were new Pokemon, and he wanted them to be comfortable enough with his vocal commands. As they ‘won’, however, he relaxed some and clapped both hands together. “Very nice, good work all of you,” he smiled. They’d turn and flash grins back at him proudly. Even the Froakie huffed a moment before smiling.
Just then, a paper seemed to go floating by. Raising an eyebrow, Orion reached up to catch it— only to realize it was one of those rather expensive catch tickets. Huh~ Very nice.

Once it seemed that the Buizel and Floatzel group had had enough and were scattering as they had enough energy to get up, Orion slowly stretched. “Alright, return for now,” he ordered drawing them back into their Pokeballs and setting them back at his belt (when had he got a proper Pokeball belt, heh? Yeah). Starting off through the water again, he’d hum softly to himself.
Something glistening in the water would catch Orion’s eye, and as he stopped to pick it up, he’d find himself… vaguely interested? This was some kind of shell or something, wasn’t it? Twisting it around in his hand, he finally pocketed it for now. He’d have someone else look at it later. For now, onward.
He’d walk a little further, turning up a watery street only to stop upon… a rather strange sight. A Pyukumuku and a Slowbro seemed to be standing on either side of a very uncertain looking Delibird. The Pykumuku had its intestines out in a hand to grasp the Delibird’s fin while the Slowbro was reaching out a claw in equal fashion to do the same. The Delibird kept looking from one to the other and squirming a bit uncomfortably. Orion’s brow quirked, but huh, actually did that Delibird also have some sparkle to it? That might fetch a good price….
Ugh but if he remembered right, Pyukumuku were those fucking death monger Pokemon. He needed… to be very careful when dealing with it, and Slowbro was also evolved. Mmmmm… Fishing out two Pokeballs, he released a Chinchou and the Froakie from earlier. “Sparky, Discharge on that Slowbro. Froakie? You doing alright?” The latter gave a nod, and Orion gave a nod after that. Right then. “Keep out of the way of that Pyukumuku, Water Pulse at a distance.”
The Chinchou sparked with power and electrocuted the Slowbro. The latter, however, took a little longer than expected to show any signs of pain. Drawing up some inner power, he used a Curse to strengthen himself— and lower his speed in the process. The Chinchou was quicker by comparison, now, and used this to her advantage. Sparkling with another Discharge, she electrocuted him again and caused him to fall over— slowly.
The Froakie frowned a little at the order to keep at a distance but would listen for now. Summoning up some water, she sent it crashing at the Pyukumuku. The latter took it well enough and made a strange face in response. Oh wait— that was also a Bide tactic wasn’t it. That compromised things now didn’t it? Orion bit his lip and was quick to order a “Discharge,” from the Chinchou. The called Pokemon sparked and released the electricity fainting the Pyukumuku.
Ah- fuck and here it came Innards Out. The Froakie was hit and went crashing back anyways. Wining, she struggled a little before fainting. Orion’s teeth grit as he drew over to her. Ugh, poor thing. Slowly picking her up, he pet her gently before starting to return her. Hopefully she just needed some rest.
The Delibird, meanwhile, was looking over the fainted Pokemon. Oh? He … wasn’t going to attack her? That it seemed anyways? Waddling over to Orion, the Delibird smiled a bit and called out. Orion smirked back and shrugged his shoulders. “Welcome?” The Delibird clapped her wing-fins together and pulled something out of her bag. Wait a minute— Wasn’t this a— Orion looked up again, and the Delibird gave a salute. A small half-breath escaped from Orion in response, and he reached forward to pat her gently. “Thank you in return. "
Hmmm what a nice human he seemed to be? She wouldn’t mind going with him if he would defend her! A small call escaped, and Orion blinked a couple of times before smirking. “You wanna come with?” Apparently. Fishing out a Pokeball, he’d tap her with it. Looking back at the other Pokemon, he hesitated before tossing one at the Pyukumuku and an Ultra Ball at the Slowbro. Not a bad haul, heh.

As all the Pokeballs dinged in capture, Orion smirked a bit and pushed up his glasses. Not a bad haul. Not bad at all. Before he could even more, however, the Froakie burst into light and began to grow. Almost in turn, the Chinchou did the same. Yellow eyes grew wide watching the two evolved Pokemon burst forth, and a wicked smile twisted up on Orion’s features as they called out their names. Heh— very nice. Very, very nice. “Good work both of you, take a long rest,” he compelled returning them as they nodded to him. Man, he was feeling pretty good out here even with the cold and—
Hm? What was that? Orion squinted and finally bent down in the water to fish it up. What Mega Stone was this? Of course, he wouldn’t recognize a Tyranitarite until much later, but he would take it with him for now at least. Heh, anyways~
And then… in the deeper waters, something caught Orion’s eye. Yellow eyes flashed upwards focusing. Teeth grit behind a pressed lip smile. Well now~ That wasn’t something you saw every day out in the wild. Just as the Sharpedo breached the surface and issued a Screech, Orion was fishing out another Pokeball and releasing a Remoraid. “Signal Beam!” was the order. The strong fish Pokemon seemed to glow before bursting with Buggy light that crashed across the Sharpedo in turn. The latter cried out but was not about to be undone. Surrounding herself with water, she went crashing forward to hit the Remoraid. The latter hissed in response crashing back in the surrounding water and getting up pretty quickly.
Before Orion could issue another order, however, movement caught the corner of his eye, and he found himself tossing out another Pokeball. A Seel burst forth to take the brunt of a Rollout from a Marill. Two evolved Pokemon coming at him and his team all at once? What were the odds. Orion snerked a bit. “Finn, Lock On and Bullet Seed; Arielle, Aqua Ring and Ice Beam.” The Remoraid swayed a bit, his eyes glowing with power as he focused in on the Sharpedo that was speeding herself up with an Agility. As she came forward, he spat Grass type power and sent her crashing back once, twice, a third time, a critical hit. She crashed back in the water, and Orion was quick to toss a Pokeball at her.
The Marill, meanwhile, continued to Rollout over and over squishing the Seel several times but ultimately doing less damage due to her affinity and restoration powers activated. As the Marill came forward again, the Seel formed a Drill Run and slammed him with her horn. He yelped, flying upwards and coming down with a Double Edge. She yelped back swaying considerably even as her ring healed her somewhat. Shaking her head, she’d be alright, she swore. It would take a little more to get the Marill to back down, but as she did it, Orion would toss a Pokeball at the Marill as well.

As the Pokeballs dinged in capture, Orion smirked a bit. “Nice work both of you,” he mused a bit. The Remoraid flipped around in the water happily while the Seel clapped both fins together. Just as he was about to return the both of them, however, the Remoraid twisted around and swam deeper in the water. Hmmmm? Orion frowned a little but returned the Seel for now at least. “Where you going~?” his voice was light enough, interested but hopefully not condescending. The Remoraid, meanwhile, had caught sight of an item glistening at the bottom of this pool of sorts and was going to bring it to the surface.
As the Remoraid grabbed the thing that had caught his interest and came back up, however, Orion’s lips pressed together. “Oh— huh….” Another Mega Stone? He’d have to look into exactly what it was but bent down to take it for now. “Thanks,” he murmured patting the fish. The latter smiled pleased but still keeping a mental note that the shiny was his. Thereafter, Orion returned him and went onwards.
He would walk through the shallows for a while longer but wouldn’t run into anything of immediate interest. Turning back and starting the way he came, he hummed a bit to himself. Nothing to critical happened up until a small body caught his sites causing him to stop briefly and consider it. Poliwag was a branched evolution, and thus even if he already had one, it might be reasonable to grab another— especially in order to complete his Water collection.
Orion’s lips quirked some as he fished out a Pokeball and released a Kabuto. “Mega Drain,” was the order given, and immediately the Kabuto began to siphon off some of the Poliwag’s energy. The latter squeaked startled and retaliated with a Double Slap of her own accord. Take that! And that! The Kabuto cringed a little but recovered pretty quickly. A small ‘tch’ sound escaped from Orion as he decided what to do before executing another “Mega Drain,” once again. The Kabuto glowed green once more and stole the Poliwag’s energy right from under her once again. Flopping forward, she struggled to get up and if that was enough then yep Orion was throwing a Pokeball at her.
