With a new member of her team, Valorie headed toward the mines in search of... well, whatever it was she could find! There was nothing particular she knew about in the mines that she needed, so it was just an adventure. Her Riolu was by her side and her other Pokemon were safely tucked away in their Pokeballs. This could easily prove to be a good day or a bad day, depending on what kind of trouble they got into.
"Are you ready, Erminia?"
The fighting-type gave a quick and precise nod and the two were off, jogging into the mines. What? You thought Valorie wasn't going to be exercising just because it's the mines? Pfft.

The pair weren't jogging for long before something caught Erminia's attention. To her, it felt like a... gentle ringing that demanded attention, but once she looked in the direction she heard it from, the noise was gone. She almost wrote it off, but then she saw it. A sparkle of light flashing off a beautiful round gem.
"Lu!"
"Huh?" The two came to a easy stop and the Pokemon pointed, causing her trainer to nod and both of them to head in that direction at a walk. This served as the perfect distraction for the Makuhita that lurked in the tunnel. She burst forth, launching a surprise attack in the form of Arm Thrust. Two hits managed to connect, doing a decent amount of damage before Erminia moved out of the way.
Valorie stepped back a little and called out, "Use Vacuum Wave and then Sky Uppercut!" The little fighter did just that, swinging her arms around to gather the wind before launching it in the form of an X at the wild Pokemon. She dashed after it so that she could use her powered up fist immediately after the Makuhita was hit by her first attack. The trail of light blue caused another reflection off the orb and Erminia felt empowered. That stone... she wanted it. That could help her training, she just knew it!
As she was thinking about this, the Makuhita picked up some dirt and threw it in her face. The Riolu yelped and started attempting to rid her eyes of the sand. This would have been a very dirty tactic, in Valorie's opinion, but it was a moot point. She and Erminia worked together so it didn't stop the Riolu. As the Makuhita attempted to used Heavy Slam, the trainer called out to her Pokemon, "Detect!"
Using this move caused the Riolu to briefly be able to read the Makuhita's aura rather than see her body moving and Erminia tossed herself out of the way. At this point, Valorie noticed something... strange. The wild Pokemon attempted to use what she could only guess was a Fake Out, but stumbled oddly. It... didn't actually know how to fight that well, she realized.
"Erminia, return," the woman called, producing the Pokeball needed to absorb the Riolu. Then she carefully walked closer to the Makuhita and smiled softly. "Hey... I just want to help." She slowly held her hands up to show she was not a danger, crouching down several feet away. "You seem to be a very capable fighter... You just need more training. More knowledge on your own abilities, even. I would be happy to help you. Would you like that?" The Makuhita still seemed a bit wary, but Valorie still produced a Pokeball and reached out, setting it on the ground to let the fighting-type make her decision as the human backed away.
Makuhita used Arm Thrust - 2 hits! 24% damage (Erminia 76%) Erminia used Vacuum Wave 18% damage (Makuhita 82%) Erminia used Sky Uppercut 62% damage (Makuhita 20%) Makuhita used Sand Attack Makuhita used Heavy Slam - Erminia used Detect Makuhita "attempted" to use Fake Out - It Failed

The Makuhita had stared at this woman, who was still crouched but just moved back, for a few long moments before she moved forward and tapped the Pokeball. It absorbed her, shook only once, and dinged. Valorie smiled at this and moved to pick up the Pokeball with another new partner. This trip to Liggs was turning out to be quite a good idea. Putting the capture orb into the pouch with her other Pokemon, she looked over to the area Erminia had been so interested in.
As she walked over, she saw the stone that had distracted the Riolu so. It was beautiful and she could feel the power in it... so she grabbed it. Tucking it away, she started on her own. On her own, she jogged through the mines, alert and curious of everything in here. After about twenty minutes, she heard it. The sound of something hitting the stone wall of the mines.
Slowing herself to a walk and steadying her breathing, the woman moved to see a Tyrogue who seemed to be training. He was alternating between punching the wall, slapping it, and kicking it. What really caught Valorie off guard was... he almost seemed to be crying. It was clear he was trying to hold it in, but tears built at the corners of his eyes.
After a moment's thought, she released her Yungoos and knelt down more toward his level. "Go battle him. Make him feel like he can do better," she instructed the normal-type, who nodded and then scurried over and bristled to intimidate the wild Pokemon into attacking. The Tyrogue looked surprised, then shook away his tears and got ready for a battle.
He quickly moved in to use Fake Out, causing Celsy to flinch, followed up by a Tackle. Both hurt, but the normal-type was surprised it didn't hurt more. Why didn't he use fighting-type moves? The little thing sniffed at the air, using Odor Sleuth. It didn't really give him any answers, but it gave him a little bit of an upper hand as far as the battle went. He followed that up with a Crunch attack. He could tell it hit a lot harder than he intended. Whoops...
The Tyrogue winced, but when he moved in just to Tackle at Celsy twice, the Pokemon knew there was a problem. He didn't know any fighting-type moves. That explained why he was having such a hard time... Celsy swiftly dodged the second of the two Tackles, slowly starting to move the fight back toward Valorie. He dashed to hit the Tyrogue twice, pulling its attention toward the direction they were trying to go.
When the Tyrogue came in for another attack, Celsy dodged it and let the second hit. This left it very easy for him to get one more Crunch onto the fighter, which left him very weak. Only then would Valorie step out. She had a Pokeball in hand and threw it to catch the Tyrogue, saying, "Don't worry, we're going to help you. I promise." The poor thing... No fighting-type moves? While Valorie watched the ball shake, Celsy was doing a little sniffing around and came across a pretty diamond-shaped thing. He quickly scooped it up and scurried back to Valorie, who smiled and let him keep hold of it for now.

The trainer and her Pokemon continued on in the mines after she caught the Tyrogue. It was a shame for him to not have an egg move... The poor dear; she'd fix his predicament. Celsy had since moved to curl up on her shoulder as she now walked through the mines. Every workout had to come with time to recover, after all. That's exactly what they did, even having a snack to recharge.
Even despite the restorative snack, nothing exciting really happened. Except for the Yungoos chewing on his gem, there wasn't anything to hear. The only bit of excitement was him suddenly perking up and then pawing her until she reached up to take the crystal. When she finally got the hint and took it -- setting it safely in her pack -- Celsy darted off her shoulder and came back with an orb similar to the one Erminia had discovered.
"Ooh, that's a nice find too. I wonder what these are for," Valorie remarked with a hum of thought. The normal-type hopped right back up on her shoulders and resumed chewing on this rainbow-colored gem. The woman chuckled at him and shook her head. "You enjoy that. Eventually, I'll need you to give it to me."
The Pokemon gave a small joking growl as he relaxed on her shoulder. They continued on for a while, right up until a blast of purplish liquid knocked the poor Yungoos off its perch. Righting himself, he really did growl his disapproval as he sniffed out the offending Pokemon. With a flick of his head, he tossed the Key Stone to Valorie and launched himself toward the Shelmet, starting off hard with a Hyper Fang attack.
As his teeth dug into the Pokemon, he tried to determine his next move. It did not succeed in causing a flinch, so there was a moment where he thought about using the same strategy, but decided it better to go for a different one. Crunch could cause a lowering of defense, so he went for that. He grumbled when he realized that it didn't work, but at least the effort for strategy was apparent.
The Shelmet didn't care one way or the other. She realized that this Pokemon was mostly physical, so she used Curse to help her defense. She was slow to begin with, so the sacrifice hardly mattered. Then she used Giga Drain. In fact, she attempted to use it twice but Celsy wasn't going to let her take that much of his energy. He obviously needed to finish this quick or someone else would have to do it for him.
So the Yungoos reversed the order of his moves from before: Crunch, then Hyper Fang. Once again, neither of his bites actually had the desired result, but... he couldn't give up just yet. Celsy dodged again, not letting the Giga Drain make contact but he was running out of steam himself. Another attempt from the Shelmet was all it took. As his health was stolen from him, the Yungoos growled. No more taking chances. He opened his mouth and attempted two Hyper Fangs, moving as quickly as he could to avoid her getting away.
Once the Pokemon was fainted, Valorie returned her injured Yungoos and threw another Pokeball to capture the Shelmet. It was a strong fighter, even if not necessarily one she wanted for her team. She was sure she could find a home for the bug. With all that taken care of, she hummed softly and took a slight turn down a different tunnel of the mines.
Overview: Shelmet used Acid 18% damage (Celsy 88%) Celsy used Odor Sleuth Celsy used Hyper Fang 33% damage (Shelmet 67%) Celsy used Crunch 23% damage (Shelmet 44%) Shelmet used Curse Shelmet used Giga Drain 33% damage/16% heal (Celsy 55%/Shelmet 60%) Shelmet used Giga Drain - Celsy dodged Celsy used Crunch 15% damage (Shelmet 45%) Celsy used Hyper Fang 24% damage (Shelmet 31%) Shelmet used Giga Drain - Celsy dodged Shelmet used Giga Drain 29% damage/14% heal (Celsy 26%/Shelmet 45%) Celsy used Hyper Fang 23% damage (Shelmet 22%) Celsy used Hyper Fang 25% damage (Shelmet fainted)

Valorie continued down the mines for quite a while. Nothing exciting happened at all and she realized after twenty minutes of nothing that she better just go back. After all, she had found a good group of Pokemon and some valuable items, at the very least. Turning around, the woman began to jog back toward the entrance. It wasn't long before her path was blocked, however.
Squinting, the woman gazed at the figure in her way as she slowed to a stop. The Lycanroc held something in his paw, but she couldn't make out what it was, exactly. A challenging bark echoed across the walls and Valorie frowned a bit. This was not a situation she enjoyed being in. The evolved Pokemon was very strong, but was it too strong to train some of her unevolved Pokemon against?
"Erminia, come on out." The Riolu let out a cry as she materialized and she gazed at the Lycanroc a moment before looking back to Valorie. The woman nodded to her Pokemon and the fighting-type grinned. Erminia wouldn't let her human's faith go to waste. The wild Pokemon grinned at the baby Pokemon and lunged forward. The bite connected and Erminia shuddered. It took a moment of consideration as she saw the other Pokemon start to use another move, but the Riolu decided it was best to avoid this.
Despite her shaking from the first attack, once she had an opportunity, she was quick to unleash her attack even as her trainer was calling it out. "Sky Uppercut!" Thankfully, the Lycanroc was a little bit cocky at the moment and was hit square in the jaw. He was not very pleased and attempted to retaliate with a Counter.
"DETECT!" The Riolu activated her abilities and shifted just enough to make the angry Lycanroc miss. He attempted to use Rock Tomb to slow down this damned baby, but she hopped along each of the rocks as they formed, standing tall atop the pile that formed.
"Use Vacuum Wave." The Pokemon harnessed the air and slashed, hitting the Lycanroc back a bit. He snarled, but Erminia held her ground. Then came the nasty part. Reversal. "Careful!" Erminia prepared herself, taking less damage due to her arms raised to block some of the damage. The wild Pokemon then bit into her arm to punish her, causing the Riolu to cry out in pain.
"Sky Uppercut!" Erminia's hands began to glow and she rushed under the Lycanroc, only for him to hop forward to evade. The Riolu wasn't having it, though, and brought up her other arm immediately to hit the canine right in the tail.
"Good going, Erminia," Valorie praised with a smile and hummed thoughtfully as the Riolu showed her pride at the words. The woman considered whether she wanted such a brute in her team, but even if she decided against it, he would prove a good companion for someone. He was strong and even if she handed him over to one of her students... Well, anyway, she took out an Ultra Ball and tossed it at the fainted Pokemon.
Overview: Lycanroc used Bite - Erminia Flinched! - 22% damage (Erminia 78%) Lycanroc used Rock Tomb - Erminia dodged! With the Midnight Forme Lycanroc returned to the PC automatically, Erminia began to glow. With a wide grin of pride on her face, Valorie watched. "Look how you've grown," she praised as the Lucario finished evolving. "Now we can work on expanding your battling capabilities even more during training." Erminia nodded, fists clenched in anticipation of more training. Still, she was injured.
"You did great today. We're going to head home now," she remarked as she returned the evolved Pokemon. A slow jog began to lead her out of the mines, but just was she was nearing the entrance, a bird flew in and ended up smacking her right in the face. As the human fell right onto her butt, the bird seemed mildly apologetic, but a Buneary popped out of one of Valorie's Pokeballs all on her own.
She began to chastise the bird, which did not sit well with the Pidove. She started screeching wildly and flailing about, causing a confused look from Valorie but actually causing Hanna to become confused. It did not work in her favor, however, as the normal-type immediately powered up her fist with electricity and, although off-balance, aimed a punch right at the surprised flying-type.
With a super effective critical hit, the poor Pidove had no chance and collapsed into a heap. The trainer just sighed out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding and shook her head. "Hanna, that was unnecessary." The little bunny just frowned a bit and made a soft noise of expression that could have been taken as an apology or as brushing off the human's words.
Valorie chose to assume the second and moved to a stand. As she brushed herself off, Hanna's ears perked and she turned her head every which way, looking for something. Sniffing at the air, she started to move around, trying to find the source of what she sensed. It took a little longer than she would have liked, as well as some digging, but eventually the Buneary lifted with both paws a pretty gem. The color was not the most beautiful, but it spoke volumes to Pokemon and trainer. Valorie walked over to examine it, which prompted her Pokemon to hand over the thing. The woman smiled and gave it a closer look over, humming thoughtfully.
"I think this seals the deal on this being a good trip," she remarked and pocketed the gem before gesturing for the Buneary to follow as the two began their jog back to Sinclair.
Overview: Pidove used Swagger Hanna used Thunder Punch - Critical Hit! 178% damage (Pidove fainted)
