{Spoiler}Mission name: Unexpected Encounter.
Participants: @lucia
Catching?: No
Spawning: A powerful Buzzwole for a single fully-modded battle; will be specifically gunning for Lucia due to her being a faller. Afterwards, she'll be approached by some Alolan interpol agents, though that part doesn't necessarily have to be RP'd out. Either way, I'll leave it up to the mod on how powerful the Buzzwole actually is, just so long as its enough to give Lucia's Pokemon a good challenge.
Mission details: After completing a long mission in Alola, Lucia is finally ready to wrap up the case. However, when she's in the middle of taking care of the last bits of clean-up in Hau'oli City, a massive Pokemon unlike anything she'd ever seen suddenly attacks her. What's more, this Pokemon seems to be fixated on her entirely, raising many questions of what exactly is going on...
Reward: none I can think of; this is mainly for plot purposes
"Yeah? Awesome...no worries, I was happy to help...mmhmm...I'm planning to stay in Alola for a week or so to get a bit of R&R, then I'm heading back to Veria...yeah...alright, sounds good. Don't hesitate to call if you need anything...don't worry, I didn't forget. Later."
Lucia smiled as she hung up her phone, letting out a heavy sigh. She had been in Alola for quite a while now (at least a few months), having been sent to help with an investigation due to the Alolan branch of Interpol being a bit understaffed. Despite this mission taking much longer than anticipated, the change of scenery ended up being quite refreshing, and proved to be just what she needed to get her out of the funk she had been in for a while. While she did miss everything and everyone in Veria, she was ultimately glad she was sent here.
Granted, there ended up not being very much time for her to relax and enjoy the region's tropical atmosphere. Under any other circumstances, this would've been the ultimate vacation, which is why she decided to take a little time off to enjoy as much of the region as she could. Or at least, that was the plan. She was just returning from a walk down Route 2 when she suddenly felt a very ominous presence. Something was following her, and whatever it was, it was coming at her fast.
Grabbing a Poke Ball, she acted on a gut feeling and sent out her Arcanine. "I don't know what it is, but something is coming for us! Be ready for anything!"

WHERE? WHERE? WHERE WAS IT? WHAT WAS IT? WHERE WAS IT? SO CLOSE? SO CLOSE! WHERE? WHEERE!??
Shortly after Lucia had felt the presence and released her Pokemon, a buzzing sound would become audible in the air. Something was indeed gunning right for her, and the bright hue would become clear as it broke through the brush. It could sense it, could feel it. The way back home, the light of sorts, was here!
Rushing up on the girl and her Arcanine, the Buzzwole stopped short on seeing a physical body there and immediately thrust both arms upwards in a gesture of intimidation. What was this? Was this what it was looking for? No, the creature was between it and the light. It would not stand for it!
The position would be held for only a second before the Buzzwole moved again. Swinging a Hammer Arm forward, it made to break passed the Arcanine (or maybe just break it down, who knew?).

As the creature grew closer, the ominous feeling increased tremendously, leaving both Lucia and her Arcanine on edge. Given how brave and strong-hearded Dio was, it said a lot that even he was intimidated. This culminated into a major "oh shit" moment when the Ultra Beast finally showed itself. Just what the actual hell was this thing? It was unlike any Pokemon she'd ever seen. Granted, there were a lot she'd never seen up close, but she at least vaguely knew of them. But this. She couldn't figure out why, but something about this one just defied explanation.
Additionally, they were too surprised by its sudden and aggressive appearance to properly react, resulting in the Arcanine taking the full force of the Hammer Arm. And boy did pack a punch. "Dio! Are you alright?!" Lucia was quick to rush to his side, but he was able to get back onto his feet with only a little trouble. One thing was clear though; this thing, whatever it was, wasn't messing around. "I don't know what this Pokemon's deal is, but if it's a fight it wants, then it's a fight it gets. Strike back immediately with Crunch!"
The Arcanine nodded, baring his fangs as he rushed in an attempt to deliver a crushing bite to the large Pokemon. It only occurred to Lucia that this bizarre Pokemon might be a Fighting-type after her Arcanine began executing the attack. But that was okay. Hit or miss, she wasn't done yet. "Now use Heat Wave!" Taking advantage of how close he was from the Crunch attempt, the Arcanine inhaled deeply, then let loose with a powerful blast of super-heated air. Here's hoping that will have some effect against this creature
Based on what she was seeing, Lucia was tempted to guess this thing was Bug/Fighting-type. But what was it? And where did it come from? And why did she have the sneaking suspicion that it was starting at her? --- Crunch - Dark, Physical; 80 BP. Has a 20% chance of lowering Defense by one stage (6.4 - 7.8%) Heat Wave - Fire, Special; 95 BP. Has a 10% chance of inflicting a burn (47.8 - 57.4%)
not gonna lie; only reason I didn't double-spam Heat Wave is because I forgot it wasn't 100 BP anymore and didn't feel like rewriting my post when I did remember

The light was moving? The familiar feeling was actually moving- this had the Buzzwole hesitating for a moment, giving Lucia and her Pokemon just enough time to recover and attack in return.
The nasty fangs of the Arcanine sunk hard into the bicep of the Buzzwole, and a brief obscure noise of pain reverberated for a second. Thrusting the arm sideways, it shook the dog off only to then get a close ranged blast of heat. OWWWWWWW. The alien flailed a moment before swinging back at the fire dog with one Drain Punch after the other. It was not interested in you, strange creature! Stay down while it checked on the light!
Again, right after, its head whipped around to focus on Lucia in its ominous, strange way. Yes, this was what it was looking for.

Okay yeah. This thing was definitely gunning for her. She had no clue why, but it was becoming increasingly obvious. Not only that, but it was an absolute powerhouse. She watched in disbelief as the creature managed to knock her Arcanine in just two hits. But then things took a turn for the dire when it then proceeded to take a swing at her. Luckily, she saw it coming, so she had just enough time to dodge. But still. This was bad. Like...really bad. She's been in tense situations before, but this was the first time that she felt legitimately scared.
Returning her knocked out Arcanine, she sent out her next Pokemon. If this thing was Fighting/Bug like she assumed it was, then her best Pokemon for the job was quite clear. "Chiro, you're up!" Grabbing a Poke Ball, she sent out her Crobat, who immediately readied for battle upon realizing how tense the situation was. Lucia wasted no time. "Hit it with Toxic, then a double Air Slash! Don't hold anything back!" The Crobat was a little taken aback by how dire Lucia's commands were, but followed through with them regardless.
First, he took a deep breath, then sprayed a large amount of highly venomous liquid at the strange creature. If nothing else, the gradually-increasing damage should help, even if only a little. Then, it spread its wings and performed two powerful flaps, each one sending a blade of wind flying at the Buzzwole one after the other. Even if it wasn't the best of Flying-type moves for a Crobat to use (since they're mainly built for physical attacks), it was bound to do something. At least, Lucia really hoped it would. --- Arcanine - KO'd Crobat - 100% health
Toxic - Poison-type, Status. Inflict "Badly Poisoned" onto the opponent. Is guaranteed to hit if used by a Poison-type Pokemon.
Air Slash - Flying-type, Special; 75 BP. Has a 30% chance of making the opponent Flinch. (used twice)

The large muscular bug was reaching, grabbing at Lucia even as another Pokemon was released. Turning its attention towards the Crobat, it yelled out something utterly foreign to both human and Pokemon alike. A spray of poison would be the response, apparently, and the Buzzwole reeled a little from this strange substance. It would not fully process what the stuff was aside from gross and vaguely painful, nor did it really have time to anyways.
The swipe of air had it yelping slightly and Bouncing up high above the Crobat to avoid the second. As the creature hovered there for just a second, however, a spark of Electric power formed on one of its arms, and as it came down, it did so in an unyielding way.

Holy crap this thing was insane. Even with the hits it's taken, it was still coming at her with everything she had. Quite literally, in fact, which was beginning to worry Lucia a bit. Why was it after her? If it were just rampaging wildly, that'd be one thing, but no. It was becoming increasingly obvious that this Pokemon, whatever the hell it was, was specifically targeting her, and was treating her own Pokemon as little more than pests getting in the way of its goal (which wasn't far off). Needless to say, this wasn't good.
She watched as it jumped up high, recognizing the move right away. In fact, it was one she'd often considered teaching to her Aipom, though she often ended up settling with teaching something to her other Pokemon. As such, she knew what to look for. "It's going to come down any second now! Keep your eyes in the sky and be ready! Don't let it catch you o-?!" However, just as she was warning her Crobot not to be caught off guard, shewas caught off guard when the strange Pokemon suddenly came back down.
Not only that, but rather than finish the Bounce, it instead come down with a Thunder Punch. Her Crobat still managed to avoid the attack, but only barely; he felt static from the electricity against his body, but it wasn't enough to actually do any damage. However, both of them were painfully aware of how lucky he was just then. Another fraction of a second sooner, and he would've felt the full force of the attack. They had to end this quickly. "Use Confuse Ray, then follow it with Air Slash!"
The Crobat nodded, his eyes emitting a bright flash as he fired a ray of pure light aimed at the Buzzwole's head. If it struck, it would pierce its mind, leaving it confused and giving Lucia more of a fighting chance. Anything to even the odds against this powerhouse. Then she once again flapped her wings hard, launching a blade of wind flying towards the buff mosquito. Honestly, if she had heard anything being described as a "buff mosquito" before now, Lucia probably would have laughed at how absurd it sounds.
But not anymore.
--- Arcanine - KO'd Crobat - 100% health

The bright ray of the Crobat's attack would, in fact, meet its mark. Suddenly the world was spinning around the Buzzwole, and another weird noise would reverberate from it. It was… so hard to focus now, and it swayed dramatically from one side to another in obscurely dramatic poses (???). A hand reached out to (or maybe swiped at) Lucia vaguely yet again.
As the blade of air crashed into the creature, however, it was unable to defend effectively. No instead, it'd be blown backwards and sent crashing to the ground. It struggled, squirming and writhing for a moment before going still. Whether it was the poison that did it in or the last attack, only the writers would truly know. Stillness slowly returned thereafter- though perhaps the sound of confused Alolans could be heard running in the distance. Why did the help always come so late anyways?
Buzzwole [50% - 68 (Air Slash) - 19 (badly poisoned) = 0% ] +2SPD, -1DEF [Bad Poison (-2/16)] -68% damage from Air Slash - (150*2/16= 19%) Badly Poisoned first post BUZZWOLE DEFEATED I'd be happy to NPC out the Interpol agents talking to Lucia if you'd like that.

Wait. That was it? Because of how fiercely it was coming after her, Lucia had expected it to be a bit harder to actually put down, but apparently, the combination of Toxic and Super-effect attacks ended up being enough. Were she not feeling a tremendous sense of relief that the whole thing was over, she almost might have felt like the whole thing was a bit anti-climactic. But, ultimately, she was just glad this whole mess was over. And, more importantly, that none of the citizens were hurt. That thing was attacked her way too close to the city for comfort.
"Hello? This is Lucia Hale...yes, from the Veria Branch. I need someone from Interpol to get to Hau'oli City as soon as possible. I've just encountered a really strange Pokemon...one unlike anything I've ever seen. Eh? Oh, no worries I managed to beat it, but it was an absolute powerhouse. Plus, I have no idea why, but it seemed like it was coming after me specifically...like I said, I have no idea why! Just please hurry up! I didn't bring any empty Poke Balls with me, and I'd rather not take any chances of it waking up before it can be properly detained."
Letting out a sigh, she nodded "Alright...sounds good. Until then, I'll do my best to keep things under control here." Hanging up and putting away her phone, she looked around at the citizens who were slowly gathering to see what the commotion had been, and called out to them. "Everyone, please stay back! This Pokemom is too dangerous! Stay indoors until it can be completely detained...I don't know if I'll be able to hold it back if it wakes up and starts thrashing around!" Watching to see if everyone complied, it was now a simple matter of waiting.
And praying to any god that might be listening that this strange Pokemon didn't wake up between now and when some help would finally arrive.

Lucia's phone call would erupt quite a stir in the Alolan Interpol office. The description of a strange Pokemon attacking a human could have meant many things to another branch, but to those who had been around for the various alien invaders that dropped down and occasionally came about even now, it was pretty clear what it was. Seveal of them were quick to take off on their own Pokemon heading to Hau'oli City as fast as possible.
The Buzzwole, meanwhile, was out for the most part. Luckily for Lucia, the poison trick kept it from springing to its feet even after it had started to vaguely regain consciousness in the way after-battles worked. The civilians watching on, meanwhile, seemed to whisper amongst themselves as they kept a safe distance. Some went back into their homes, but others were not quite sure that they wanted to just yet.
The roar of a Charizard in the distance would be the first sign that the cavalry was here. An older woman and a younger man Lucia had met during her Alolan mission escapades, Merlie and Ikaia respectively, were coming in for a landing already. Merlie wouldn't wait for her Charizard to land, leaping off at the last moment to start walking towards Lucia. Ikaia waited for his massive creature to land before slowly sliding off.
"I thought so," Merlie was saying aloud as she got in closer towards Lucia. "Another Ultra Beast, Buzzwole this time."
"What a nasty looking thing…" Ikaia grumbled a bit as he drew closer.

Lucia watched as some of the citizens went indoors, while others seemed a bit more hesitant to do so. Lucia didn't mind so long as they didn't get too close. Seeing the creature begin to stir, Lucia instantly put up her guard, though when it became clear it was still suffering from the Toxic and couldn't find the strength to actually get up, she eased up a bit. She didn't drop her guard completely, but it was becoming obvious that the large Pokemon was no longer a threat. If nothing else, thank Arceus for that.
Thankfully, the sound of the Charizard's roar finally put an end to the tense situation. As the two agents arrived, Lucia breathed a sigh of relief. Even better, they seemed to know exactly what Lucia was dealing with, which was admittedly a pleasant surprise. That said, this did understandably raise some questions, and Lucia was unable to help but ask them right away. "Wait...Ultra Beasts? Buzzwole? Mind filling me in? Just what the hell is this thing? It sure as heck isn't a normal Pokemon; that much was pretty obvious from the get-go."
Despite her best efforts to stay calm, it was hard not to notice that Lucia was a bit shaken up by the whole thing. Given the circumstances, it probably wouldn't be hard to blame her.

Merlie frowned a little taking her gaze from the Buzzwole for a moment to more properly address Lucia. Right, right. She had no reason to have had this information prior, hm? "Ultra Beasts are creatures from another dimension that have traveled here through a break in the dimensions called an Ultra Wormhole. We've been dealing with them here with some frequency in Alola for some time," she explained. "Right now the best thing we can do is detain it for now."
Ikaia, meanwhile, was already drawing out a strange blue sphere and tossing it at the Buzzwole, hoping that it would be enough to catch and detain the clearly wounded and suffering creature for now. They could work on what to do with it after, but he really didn't like seeing something suffer.

Under any other circumstances, Lucia would have laughed in Merlie's face and assumed she was messing with her when she told them that this so-called Ultra Beast was from another dimension. But the whole thing was too weird for her to not believe it. That Ikaia had to use a completely different ball unlike any she'd seen before further added weight to the argument. But even then, it was still hard to take in. While she could understand the Alola branch wanting to keep something like this secret to an outsider, it was still annoying.
"So...I'm going to assume this has only been going on here in Alola...'cause this is the first time I've heard about anything like this happening anywhere. And we've had our fair share of crazy shit happening back in Veria." Letting out a sigh. She watches as the Buzzwole was capturing, suddenly unable to wonder whether, even if she had remembered to bring some, a normal Poke Ball (or even an Ultra Ball) would work on this thing. Unless that was just an aesthetic designed for whatever section of Interpol is in charge of dealing with these things.
Lastly, there was one last question lingering in her mind; one she wasn't sure if the answer would have any meaning, but, all the same, she had to ask. "And...forgive me if this sounds paranoid, but I don't suppose you have any ideas why it might have been gunning for me specifically, do you? Maybe it was just extremely aggressive and it would've happened regardless of who stumbled on it...but the whole time, I couldn't shake the feeling like it was coming straight after me, and that my Pokemon were little more than annoyances getting in its way..."
If either of the two had looked at Lucia's record at any point, there was one detail that might suddenly stand out; that she was suffering from amnesia and had no memories of her life prior to an apparent accident when she wad fourteen. It didn't interfere with her work and, aside from some blunders here and there (all of which strangely involved Fairy-types for some reason), she did fairly great work. Nevertheless, it probably went without saying that Lucia had no idea what she was in for when she asked that question.

Merlie's lips pressed together at Lucia's words before a small nod was given. "As far as we know anyways," she answered. "But some theorists suggest that this happens more frequently in the world at large than we can measure at this time." How much more was up for debate at that point as were the theorists' assertions in general, but still.
Lucia's question thereafter, however, had both Merlie and Ikaia's eyes growing. The latter mumbled a bit under his breath but looked away rather than answer directly. Merlie, meanwhile, set a few fingers to her chin and gave a small nod as something clicked in her mind. "I may have a theory, but it's probably best if we talk about this back at headquarters." The prying eyes of those around them were probably not going to let up till they left. "Do you have it Ikaia?"
The latter gave a nod, fishing up the ball and shrinking it down for now. "It has been detained. I'll hand it over to the lab once we get back." Another nod was given thereafter.
Lucia would be offered a ride back to headquarters out of Ula'ula island and allowed a short time to get her bearings together before being ushered into a conference room. Ikaia disappeared for a minute or two while Merlie sat down with Lucia. "If I remember correctly from your file, you were found at the age of fourteen?" she started a bit slowly.

"...I see" Lucia nodded quietly. So, basically, what they were saying was that it was only happening in Alola as far as they knew, but they weren't ruling out the possibility of it happening elsewhere. Probably a good way to approach the whole thing. Not to mention she could only imagine how bad it could be if something like this were to get out to the general public. Well, at least the part about these "Ultra Beasts" being interlopers from an alternate dimension. Even now, Lucia was finding that part to be a little hard to swallow.
At least a few people must have seen Lucia fighting that thing, but for all they'd know, it was just a rare and powerful Pokemon. Which...wasn't wrong. But needless to say it was a huge understatement. The more she learned about this, the more Lucia couldn't help but wonder if she'd stumbled her way into something really huge. Either way, she graciously accepted the ride back the Alolan Interpol HQ, and was thankful that they gave her a moment to get her bearings straight. A lot of this still felt like it wasn't real. Just some elaborate dream.
Once the questioning began, she blinked. It seemed a bit random to bring that up, but she figured that they must have their reasons and played along. "I...guess you could put it that way. Apparently I was in an accident and it left comatose for a couple months. Honestly, I've got no memory of it the accident itself, nor can I remember anything about my life before it happened. It's like everything was wiped clean...even had to relearn how to read and write. Of course, any time I asked about it, everyone at home got really awkward all of a sudden."
She let out a sigh, as some of the more pleasant memories of that part of her life resurfaced. "...even now, I can't help but shake the feeling that my mom was still hiding something from me...but I never had the heart to say anything. Me losing my memory wasn't exactly a picnic for her, but she refused to give up on me...refused to let me give up." She shook her head, letting out a sigh. "Sorry, didn't mean to ramble like that...though, I gotta ask...why are you bringing that up all of a sudden?"
