Horizons is officially CLOSED. The board will remain accessible as an archive, but staff has moved on. If you're looking for a new Pokemon RP, try Pokemon Chaku (where SG is staff) or any number of others.
Welcome to Veria!
Pokémon Horizons is an expansive RP driven by member-planned plots and regular site events more than any singular site-wide plot, meaning there is always something to do and always room for new ideas.
From classic Pokémon staples to simple slice-of-life to grandiose encounters with Legendary Pokémon, there's a little something for everyone. We've been open since December 2015 and are always eager to welcome new friends~
As Lucia began to describe her experience, Merlie’s brows furrowed together. Her features shifted some, clearly thoughtful but also … something else, perhaps. Her fingers bridged before her and then laced as Lucia finished up. “I see,” she spoke before lowering both hands, one of them reaching up to rub her temple thereafter. She didn’t even know where exactly to start now.
“I-“ she stopped. “Given the Buzzwole’s actions and your account of it focusing on you specifically, we have reason to believe you are someone who has passed through Ultra Space in one form or another. We collectively call persons who have done so ‘Fallers’. Ultra Beasts are increasingly attracted to Fallers because radiate weak amounts of Ultra Aura, an energy sustained in Ultra Space. We think it has something to do with familiarity and an attempt to get home. Of the Fallers that we have record of, most have sustain some form of memory loss which suits your case specifically given your account just now. You may have simply passed through an Ultra wormhole at some point and ended up in our world again— or you may be from an entire different world.” She paused to give that a moment to sink in.
As Lucia sat there, listening to what Merlie had to say. As probably expected, it took a few moments for what she was told to click, and even then, Lucia could barely believe what she was hearing. "Wh-what?...no...that can't..." And yet, when she thought about it, it all made sense. The sinking feeling that her mother was still hiding something from her; how awkward everyone else back home was around her. It was all starting to make a lot more sense. Now that she thought about them, several of the people back then seemed to actively avoid her.
She let out a sigh. "...so...is there a way to confirm this once and for all? Like...some kind of test you can do on me? Because...if you're right, then my mother and I are in for a very long talk..." It was strangely relieving, having a better idea of why everything had been so awkward during the time that she was recovering from her "coma". Of course, all this did was raise many more questions. One way or another, she wanted answers.
Merlie’s features tightened a little, her frown uncomfortable, her gaze worried. In her limited experience, few people took such news well, and even fewer knew what to do with it. She almost reacted to Lucia’s state of denial but then resolved to let the girl think it over some more herself before responding.
At the question, she sat back in her chair. “There has been some research into an Ultra Aura detector that would be able to detect traces of it on items and individuals,” she answered slowly. “We don’t have it in the office, but the Dimensional Research lab in Heahea on Akala Island has one and should be able to give you an accurate read.” There was a pause before she went on. “We have had people who… don’t want to know for sure, and that’s reasonable given what little we know of Ultra Space and other dimensions in general. It can be life changing and you might take that into consideration before actually having the test done.”
Lucia listened quietly to Merlie's response and gave a slow nod. Admittedly, she could understand that. She may have looked surprisingly composed at the moment, but that was just Lucia having a strong poker face. It was taking all of her willpower not to freak out right now. Taking a deep breath to calm herself down and at least try to collect her thoughts, she spent the next ten minutes or so heavily debating with herself. Finally, she reached a decision. It wasn't one she particularly liked, but she saw no other choice in the matter.
"I appreciate your concern...but I need to see this through. Even if I wanted to, there's no way I'd be able to just move on and pretend none of this happened. If there are any risks involved, I gladly accept them. But one way or another, I need to know for sure...if I don't, this is gonna bug the hell out of me for the rest of my life."
(note: if you think this will suffice, I think we can end it with them heading out to go to the research lab. Obviously, whatever tests they do there will be positive, so...yeah.)
Merlie waited, giving Lucia as much time as she needed to consider whatever it was going through her mind right then. She could only imagine what it would be like for herself, and that possibility alone was pretty hefty. As Lucia finally spoke, however, Merlie gave a small nod in response. “Understandable, I’ll give the research lab a call and we can probably head over there soon,” she answered back.
Within the next few hours or so, the research lab would get back and assured that they could do whatever tests were necessary to confirm, and thereafter Merlie would accompany Lucia to the research lab. Many questions were indeed answered that day if not perhaps in the way anyone would have wanted them to be.
