That devious look made Elayne feel perhaps a little anxious about what she'd just asked of her but... oh well? It would still be really cool regardless of what helping her out meant. "Of course! I don't mind helping out at all!" Elayne replied enthusiastically, smiling brightly before continuing on. Both Haiiro's and his grandma's reactions were something else. Elayne knew that it would embarass Haiiro a little but that look of pride and the following comment had her giggling a little. Only a grandma could get away with saying something like that. The offer to head inside had Elayne's next words stopping in her throat as she nodded instead. Talking about their adventures had her a little uneasy now, especially given what most of her life had been until they escaped to Veria. They were there for something happy though, talk of war would only bring them down. As they walked inside, Elayne took in the surroundings briefly before addressing the woman again, "Do you want me to help with anything?" Even if the answer was no, at least the offer was out there. That and it was a way to get rid of this nervous energy that was building inside her.

The woman took note of what seemed to stop Elayne but didn't bring it up readily or question it. Instead, she turned inwards, leading through a simple front living room that turned right into a kitchen off to the side. "Ah, no I've got this," the woman waved off in the direction of the couches. "Have a seat you two, and I'll bring you a set." Haiiro had already been headed over towards the older of the two, one clearly a bit more beat up and with the feet of it gnawed off by something. As he sat down, Haiiro rested against the back, closing his eyes for a moment. It was strange to be home, so strange.
Even from her place in the kitchen, the woman could clearly be seen from the kitchen. "Ah, right, call me Nana Nanaka by the way, 'ts what the boys call me," she laughed briefly before shrugging and fishing through some of the cabinets and drawers. A kettle would be put on the simple gas stove and set to heat before she filled a disperser with tea.
"Haii tells me you're originally Eran," Nanaka turned and leaned on the bar, looking back towards Haii and Elayne. "You know Shiro's girl is Kantonian." Abruptly Haiiro's features colored, and a clapped up to cover his mouth. "She's from Saffron, a very studious girl." Haii didn't know if his features could get any redder given what he'd already deduced, but apparently they could. "Which Eran city are you from again, Elayne?" Nope, redder still.

As they were led inside, Elayne nodded and thanked the woman after her offer to help was turned down. It was done out of courtesy mostly but also because she felt a little... odd having someone wait on her. Following Haiiro to the couch, Elayne sat down next to him, taking his hand in hers. From here, she could see his grandma moving through the kitchen and heard her say what to call her. Right, that would be a little less awkward to say than Haiiro's grandma all the time. "Alright, Nana Nanaka," Elayne replied with a smile. She would've continued if Nana hadn't gone on again, and found herself glancing at Haiiro. How much had he told her? Had it not been for Haiiro's obvious embarassment, Elayne would have felt more uncomfortable over the mere mention of Era. There just.... weren't many good memories associated with back home. Snuggling up to Haiiro, she gently kissed his cheek before drawing his attention enough to sign 'hold me'. The mention of Shiro's girl being Kantonian didn't effect her as much as it did Haiiro apparently but Elayne at least showed vague interest in it. But... that last question had Elayne hesitating as she swallowed the lump that threatened to form in her throat. For all she was, Elayne tried not to show any outward signs of how much the question cut her. There were no good memories associated with that city, none whatsoever. Still... she had to answer, didn't she. Putting on her best diplomatic smile, Elayne shifted her attention back to Nana. "I was born in the Eastern region of Era. My parents mostly resided in Evergreen City, though I stayed in Forest Castle for a time. I met Haiiro while I was travelling at one point, by the beach. We battled that day and our Espeon took a liking to each other. Elly is my first Pokemon and dearest companion." Hopefully the subtle shift in topic would hold Nana's interest enough that Era wouldn't be brought up again. Or at least, not the more painful parts to talk about.

Haiiro's features only continued to warm at Elayne's motions. He would, however, shift her a little to wrap one arm around her at least. It was only after her features shifted and she started to speak that Haiiro would recognize Elayne was in a sort of … vague distress. He shifted a little more, holding her a little closer.
Nana Nanaka actually caught on to this too, much faster than Haiiro. Even as she moved to pull the hot water off the stove and pour it into the tea pot with leaves, she could tell by the inflections of Elayne's voice that she was holding herself in a certain manner. A small hum escaped from her as she set everything on the tray and came around to the living room again.
"I see, Pokemon tend to be much more intuitive than their human counterparts." She smirked a bit, and Haiiro blushed, his gaze avoiding hers. "I'm sure you know, but Haiiro's first Pokemon was that Skarmory of his," she mused a bit looking at Haiiro more squarely. "Speaking of which, Aiko will want to see Steel later when you get the chance."Haiiro glanced forward again and nodded briefly. Nanaka's eyes flicked to Elayne right after. "Steel is one of her hatchlings after all."
The tea was set down, and Nanaka sat down across from them. "I raised the boys myself here. Haiiro and Kuroh's old room is just down the hallway." She thumbed sideways and smiled a little. Shiro's room had since been converted into an office room now.

It was a relief to feel Haiiro's arm around her all things considered. Elayne hadn't counted on being asked about Era so soon and didn't like feeling almost cornered. Nana hadn't meant it that way and Elayne knew it but wasn't really able to relax until Haiiro held her closer. At least she'd managed to answer the question without drawing too much attention to herself. Or at least it seemed that way. That diplomatic smile and demeanor wouldn't disappear immediately as Elayne watched Nana come into the living room. The comment about their Pokemon knowing better than they did earned a soft blush from her as well. Right... guess she stepped into that one. The mention of Haiiro's Skarmory had Elayne nodding again but it wasn't until Nana mentioned her one Skarmory that she started to brighten a little. "I brought Arcana with me, she's one of Steel's hatchlings. Do you think Aiko would like to see her as well?" Elayne asked softly. The mention of the boys' rooms had a more mischievous glint coming to Elayne's eye this time. Well then, getting the chance to see Haiiro's childhood room wasn't something she was going to pass up. "Really? I'd like to see it later. Perhaps you have pictures of when he was younger too~? Going down memory road is always so much fun~." Smirking up at Haiiro, she put on her best 'I'm clearly innocent' smile. Oh, she knew this would embarrass him but at least the subject was off of her for the time being.

A curious look flickered onto Nanaka’s features as Elayne spoke. “Oh my~ I hadn’t heard Steel had had an egg or three~” she chuckled a bit and gave a small nod. “I’m sure Aiko would love to meet a granddaughter.” Had she not already known Elayne was a breeder, Nana might have asked more questions right then and there. Instead, she chuckled to herself remembering a particularly feisty Skarmory from the past. Ahhh things always did change quite a bit.
Haiiro blushed a little more at both Nanaka’s words and Elayne’s follow up ones. His mouth opened, but no words came out, and instead he shook his head a bit. Nanaka, however, was already chuckling deep in her throat. “Of course, I’ve got a photo album riiiiight here…” she mused walking over to the harth and picking up a book. Haiiro fidgeted slightly even as he’d tried to take up a cup of tea, his features warming a little. Nanaka didn’t look up from the book as she flipped through it before finally turning it around and setting it down in front of Elayne. “There~” she mused. “All three boys.”
The first picture was of Shiro, Haiiro, and Kuroh, no older than ten, standing in a row. Shiro’s hair was tied back in a short ponytail, and his t-shirt and jeans were rather shredded. He stood with his arms folded crossly and an irritated deadpan on his face. A younger Haiiro and Kuroh were exchanging glances and scowls from the corners of their eyes. Haiiro’s hair was shorter then, standing up a little, in fact. He wore a simple t-shirt and jeans that were similar to Kuroh’s attire.
The second picture was almost the same except their poses had changed and all three of them were bickering then.
Nana chuckled. “They were always fighting, as you can see~” Haiiro snorted aloud.

Elayne grinned when Nana said that Aiko would enjoy seeing Arcana after all. Well, that would be a nice meeting then, Arcana was a gentle soul and not exactly like Steel but she was quite a daddy's girl. Who knew what the three of the Skarmorys together would be like. As long as it was outside it would be fine but she was certainly looking forward to see what Aiko was like. Seeing Haiiro's blush, Elayne laughed quietly and would've teased him more if the photo album hadn't been set in front of him. Awwwwww, the three boys were all so cute! She probably giggled a bit too much at seeing the fighting picture but it certainly looked like Haiiro. Elayne could picture him perfectly at that age and it was endearing honestly. "They're all so adorable~. You must've had your hands full. I know I was a bit of a brat as a kid but circumstances change," Elayne smiled, flipping another page to see more of the pictures, "I've always thought it would be nice to have siblings. Family is family, no matter how much you fight." Wasn't that the truth. She still missed her parents, especially her father. Mother had her faults but... that didn't change the fact that she was still family. In her own way, she had only been wanting the best for Elayne. The war had torn her family apart in more ways than one. Right, best not to focus on that right now. Picking up her tea in one hand, she took a sip before focusing on the album again. "What's the story behind this one?" Elayne asked, pointing to a picture where Haiiro was crying for whatever reason. There looked like there was a Skarmory in the background too. Steel maybe?
