Mia remained still enough as the drops came, hissing a little at the initial sting but she managed to grit her teeth through it. She did flinch a little each time one dropped, but that was just from the sensation of something literally dropping towards her eye more so than the pain. The second lot of drops was a surprise but she'd ask about that in a second, taking the tissue only when all the drops were done, snickering as she wiped her eyes. "If this ever comes up to Kai somehow. Manly tears. Female manly tears is the story you tell." She paused as she realized Kaimana was probably his last name but...eh. It was all she knew him by. "Interpol Kai not you Kai...or wife Kai depending on how you guys dealt with last names."
Dabbing at her eyes, she slowly shifted to sit up (assuming she was allowed), her eyes blurring briefly but more from just watering, and that soon faded with the tissue dabbing. As the question leaned back towards her arm, she smirked and felt far more at ease, putting the tissue to one side and pulling her arm over her chest a little to display. "It's er...the work of my friend Jazz. Dunno how they pulled it off but it's a beaut ain't it? My Girlfriend actually paints it but Jazz is the one who pulled of thiiiis!~" She gave a nice big flex with her arm out to the side, displaying the fact the artificial limb could flex. "Pretty cool huh?~" She'd give Mizuki a moment to take it in before going on about any of the other cool functions. Gave herself a second to dab her eyes again.

Manly tears, female manly tears- Mizuki grinned a little too hard at that though the correction thereafter earned a soft chuckle. "He always has preferred our surname," she mused a little. "Don't think he appreciates his given name much." For a while, she had as well, but 'Kaimana' wasn't near as cute as 'Mizuki' and opened the doors to a sort of special teasing that she just… was not fond of. "But manly tears, got it," she mused giving a small two finger salute.
As Mia sat up and showed off the arm, Mizuki leaned forward to inspect it a little closer. The form and functionality of such an arm was very impressive, and while she knew some of what went in to working machines into humans, Mizuki was more than willing to admit it was beyond her capabilities. "It's incredible," she answered sitting back. "To think one person made it as well…" It was almost hard to believe given the tactical skill and mental faculties putting it together must have required. "Jazz must be very skilled." Obviously. "You must have friends in very high places." She chuckled a little softer at that. Skill like that didn't just lie around now did it?

Mia was glad Jazz was getting a bit of praise for her work. Whenever people complimented her arm it sounded like they were complimenting her more than Jazz's work, so it was nice to hear him specifically getting the appreciation for his work. "Yeah he's pretty talented. We met when he fixed my bike so I never thought he could pull shit like this but hey, here we are eh?~" She grinned wide as she pulled the arm infront of herself again. "Apparently he got some help from other brainboxes, and he got funding from that new research facility in Alto, but its still mostly his work from what I heard."
Smirking wide, she opened the panel that contained the built in music player, smirking even wider still as it was revealed. "He even put a music player in it! And I can store my pokeballs in the forearm and my keystone and-oh! The headphones jack in here." She pointed to a small hole in the metal on her bicep. "The wire runs up through my sleeves half the time so it stays out the way, but Jazz said I can use bluetooth ones if I find a good pair.~ Oh also!~" She grasped her bicep, twisted, and pulled, removing the arm, showing a black 'sleeve' around the end of her stump where the arm was. "Easy removal!~"

Ahhhh a mechanic of some sort then… A small nod was given at Mia's words. Of course some technical assistance makes sense… The funding, however, had Mizuki looking thoughtful. "A new research facility?" Mizuki echoed. She hadn't even been out to Alto yet, but that was rather interesting if it got so much attention? Or maybe this was just old news and she was new. "Ah, sorry, I'm rather new myself, so it probably goes without saying that everything is new to me here." She chuckled a little faintly and gave a small shoulder shrug. Moving always did have its ups and downs.
This thought would be cut off, however, as she saw all of what the arm contained. A music player? A place to store Pokeballs and other things and- A headphones jack. Wow, entirely too fancy- and malleable. Brown eyes blinked several times in rapid succession. "Goodness, I haven't kept up with the prosthetics industry since graduating medical school but-" But it was amazing how much technology seemed to be growing and advancing. At least she knew her own work would never become obsolete over time (hopefully??? Who knew heh). "I'm surprised I haven't seen…. A paper or journal article about it." She admitted with a small smile. "He could possibly get grant funding to do such customizations for amputees." Or… at least she thought so? Surely there had to be a market for that kind of thing?

Mia was glad to have a chance to show off the arm, looking over it herself for a moment before re-attatching it to her stump's sleeve, flexing her fingers a little once it was working again and making sure it was all in working order before settling down. She hadn't really thought of the arm in terms beyond herself and Jazz but, as the woman spoke, it was clear that was definitely an option. If Jazz still worked at Marceline's labs he'd probably be looking into it himself but-"Oh yeah...I mean even if he's already getting funding, more definitely can't hurt right? I heard this took him ages and a lot of work, but I'm sure in time and some nice clients he could do a lot of work making custom prosphetics yeah?~"
She was a little excited herself, oddly eager to hear Jazz was doing well in stuff like that. "I should let 'em know. You-" She was about to ask if she knew how to go about that, but Veria may have had unique procedures. "Ah er...yeah. You're new to the region, you probably don't have much advice...ah I'm sure if Jazz knows Marcie can help 'em. She's the one running that research foundation, seems like the type who'd be eager to get more money flowing into a project.~"

Mizuki smiled a little apologetically, reaching up to push down the hairs that stood at the back of her neck. "Yeah, as far as things are here, I don't think I can offer much insight," she answered briefly before shrugging. If they were in Kanto, she had numerous connections she could call and ask about, but she was just starting to reestablish those bonds here. Perhaps uprooting herself, her wife, and their numerous children wasn't the greatest plan, but she didn't regret doing a little more work to keep an eye on her family.
"Actually-" She looked thoughtful for a second before smiling. "Perhaps I may be able to ask around with some of my colleagues that have been here longer." As well as whatever connections that branched off into. "See if they can't offer any advice and email that information to you as well." As well as whatever results came from today's assessment and the like too.
Speaking of that. "How are your eyes feeling? Things should start to seem a little blurry as they dilate." Thankfully she had machines that could correct for that after the fact so the appointment wouldn't be too stretched out.

As the woman offered the email,Mia smiled bright and nodded along. "And of course I'll forward it to them. 'Ey if they're all as helpful as you maybe I should get to know doctors more often.~" She smirked teasingly, easing back to lay in the chair. Her vision had actually been getting gradually more blurry by the second for the past half minute or so, probably less, and as Mia adjusted her arm she was asked the question. "Oh er...yeah. A little. Dunno how blurry it's meant to get but it's giving me a light headache...that normal?"

Mizuki shifted a little, checking her watch and then looking up again. Certainly, enough time had passed since the drops were put in for the dilation to be reaching a maximum. As Mia spoke, she looked back up again. "For a first time patient, it's very normal," she answered shifting to dim the lights and turn on the projector. A giant letter E came onto the screen on the far wall.
"Try focusing on the letter there." Mizuki shifted grabbing what looked like a plastic glass and a black flat spoon of some sort before rolling her chair forward and holding the black spoon in front of one eye and the glass in front of the other. "Just keep looking forward and try not to blink too much." Shifting the two pieces, the black spoon sometimes going behind the glass and sometimes in front of it, it was probably becoming difficult to simply keep looking forward. "This is actually a test of the muscles around your eyes and their general reflexes." she explained while continuing to do it. Sitting back after a moment, Mizuki set both items down and made some notes. "Have you ever had any problems focusing your eyes before? Or have things become blurry sometimes unexpectedly?"

Mia nodded along a little, rubbing her forehead as she tried to not focus on the slight pain coming from her forehead. Shifting back into her seat to get comfortable she followed along with the test, trying not to blink but sometimes it wasn't really possible to resist the urge. Still she managed to get through it with minimul blinks. "Am I okay to rub my eyes or is that bad?"
She'd wait till she got an answer of course before doing anyway, shaking her head otherwise to just try and get rid of the sensation in her head and eyes. "Er...sometimes. Usually just when I havn't been outta the undeground in a while...place is bright in the day but its nothing like the real sun in the end..."

“Yes, it’s alright if you rub them, try not to scratch though,” Mizuki answered. She’d had patients before do some pretty worrisome things when it came to that, but usually with adults, a simple warning was good enough. As Mia answered her question, Mizuki nodded a bit.
“That’s a reasonable reaction,” she replied rather simply. “Though I might suggest going outside the underground once or twice a day in order to get your Vitamin D up,” she chuckled a bit softly, more or less being teasing even as she offered such advice. She knew of some underground cities, but nothing quite like Liggs had to offer. It was strange but not completely off-putting in of itself. High up mountains and deep inside the mountains, it was a testament to human ingenuity, she guessed, if nothing else.
Switching gears some, she sat back and flicked the projector before pulling over a strange contraption with a lot of lenses in it. She flicked them around several times before holding it in front of Mia’s face. “Let’s start simple, read the third line.” The third line was about a 20/30 vision statement with the correction of the machine in place of the otherwise blurriness Mia might face with the dilation. In full, it read: A W S P O R T I K .

"Ah it ain't so bad. Apparently they're some weird solar lamps keeping the place lit or...ah I dunno. I never bothered to learn the science. Either way people live down there fine, but maybe your right...been meaning to take a vacation somewhere sunny anyway." With a light shrug she complied with whatever was needed, sitting up to look through the lenses and reading the line, her vision still seemed just faintly off despite the correction, but it was clear enough that she didn't see much wrong with it.
"Er...A...W...S...P...Q...R T...I or L? And theeen...K. How's that?"

A thoughtful look pulled onto Mizuki’s features as she looked at the projector screen and then back again. It’s not bad… She had known plenty of patients that couldn’t even read the first few letters before she put some corrective lenses on them but….
“Let’s try this…” Mizuki mumbled flicking a couple of lenses on the machine to set it to a slightly higher prescription. “Is this better one or two?” she asked slowly shifting the lens and waiting for Mia’s word before asking either: one or three or two or three depending on whatever she said. Each one had a slightly different optic focus, but it was going to be hard to tell which Mia needed without her responding.

Mia was a little worried when she was getting the old '1 or 2' shtick she'd seen in cartoons and stuff, but it was probably just procedure or something. Her vision was still faintly blurry on the 1st one but two did get a little better and immediately- "Oh fuck that was an O wasn't it...aaahhh..." She was till unsure on the L or I situation just because of how some things typed it, but she supposed I was more of a safe bet if she saw it come up in any of the other lines.
"Er...yeah 2. 2's better." When the 2 or 3 option was given, she stuck with her initial choice. "Yeah, still going with a 2 there doc...that er...a 'normal' result? Ain't exactly gone through this all before."

A thoughtful look came to Mizuki as she pulled the contraption back after a moment. “Seems you’re a bit myopic or nearsighted, rather,” she answered. “It doesn’t seem to be too bad, but I could write you a prescription for a correction that would have you seeing better.” She smiled a little pleased that she could get Mia to see a bit clearer than she had. “That’s sort of a basic correction and could even be written into contacts if you’d prefer it.” Some of her older patients tended to hate getting glasses glasses considering they’d gone their whole lives without them and something about the weight and look and whatever. Whatever.

"...Wait for real?" Sitting up a little straighter rather than leaning into the contraption as it was pulled away from her face, Mia was shocked to hear that. She thought her vision was pretty alright given...well she needed to SEE to practically do the most important part of her job and / or hobby. Fighting. She rubbed her eyes briefly. If she was near sighted that meant she was able to see close up things better right? Well that kinda explained it. "Shit here I was thinking I was just gonna get a check up...it's really nothing too serious is it? Like I'm not gonna need a silly 'get out of the underground more' prescription or something?"
