YOU'LL HAVE TO RISE ABOVE THE BEST AND PROVE YOURSELF, YOUR SPIRIT NEVER DIES ❝ Staring at the doors to the Interpol Headquarters was both thrilling and daunting to the blonde woman that found herself infront of them. The paperwork had been squared away with ease and she had picked up her uniform the day prior; but nothing prepared you for walking into a new world or a new life in this instance. She adjusted her uniform from the reflection in the doors wishing that her shiny buttons already had a worn look to them. That would mean that she had been past the new stage of all of this and would have some experience under her belt. She thought of her brother back home studying diligently. That’s what she was here for to do the heavy lifting so he didn’t have to, the bonus to this job was a career. Having direction and people to work together as a team for one common goal: The care and safe keeping of the people of this region. She was optimistic that this was a good direction for her and whatever laid beyond these doors was going to only enhance and enrich their lives. She smiles resolutely to herself pulling the door open ready to greet whatever waited beyond. MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS

Kaimana wished he could say that work recently had been hell, but that would imply that hell wasn't the norm. Occasionally he did travel between different rings of it, he supposed, but it was all still overwhelming even on the best of days, huh? Not much to be done other than quit, though, and someone had to do this stuff. Sigh. An quiet alarm sounded from his wristwatch, more readily silenced than his phone would have been. That little beep, though, reminded him that the newest agent was supposed to be arriving in the next 20 minutes or so. Fresh out of training, young but not as young as a few of the kids, an orphan but no criminal record. He'd read over her file thoroughly, but he'd never trust paper entirely when it came to judging a new person's merits. Things like how she spoke, how she carried herself, her level of enthusiasm or reservation, could be gleaned far better in person. So, once his alarm was silenced, he got up to make a round in the office. ('Go smoke,' his brain told him. No we're not getting up for a smoke break jackass, he berated it.) This time of day, most the folks were either not on duty or out on a case, so the office was pretty quiet. Agent Tesar was in his corner as usual, taking care of whoever's paperwork had been pawned off on him today and content as ever with the job. Ted the Beeheyem was gladly crunching numbers, and one other agent seemed to be on their way out the door, so Kai waved them off. He quickly ran out of things to do, but made a point of inspecting desks, grabbing some water from the cooler, whatever he could do to 'just happen' to be up and about when the new recruit arrived. (There may have been a sticky note stuck to Sam's computer when no one was looking but Kai certainly didn't see who did it or anything, nope.) When Sarah did walk in, the Commander looked up as if he just happened to hear her come in rather than having been waiting. "Mm?" He turned to size her up briefly. Not quite as imposing as someone like Dasha, but certainly not frail either. Good, that was a good start. "Ah, you must be Hawk." He set the papers he'd been pretending to look over down and extended a hand. "Commander Kaimana."

YOU'LL HAVE TO RISE ABOVE THE BEST AND PROVE YOURSELF, YOUR SPIRIT NEVER DIES ❝ Sarah’s posture came to stricter attention as Commander Kaimana approached extending a hand “Yes Sir,” she said firmly maintaining eye contact while grasping his hand firmly as she looked up at him. The woman standing before him was 5’8” with her long strawberry blonde hair clipped to the back of her head. She had deep brown eyes that held professional rigidity and respect for the individual before her, “It’s an honor to meet you Commander,” she stated releasing his hand at the appropriate time. She had tried to learn as much about her Commanding Officer before today and all that she had learned seemed to be the unanimous he was a strong leader that upheld the expectations for his subordinates as any other Commander. There hadn’t been many eye rolls or groans of discontentment and this had encouraged her; now to make the right first impression. MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS

Kai held a calm and even expression, a slight implication of a smile-- just enough to seem friendly but not excited-- even as he carefully took in every detail. Good handshake. Hair kept up and out of the way properly, good. It was hard to say if her overall tidy appearance was an indicator of usual habits or simply caring about first impressions (i.e. the reason he bothered shaving his stubble and trimming his beard this morning), but he'd see more about that in the weeks to come.
She seemed a bit rigid as well. Nervous, or simply very by the book? He kept an eye and ear out for more signs to help tell, but for now turned to lead her across the office. "Your desk will be over here."
As they passed the door of Kai's, he noted, "This is my office if you ever need anything," and as they passed the small, elevated desk where the Beheeyem worked, "And this is Ted. I own his PokeBall but wouldn't say I own him. He's the office accountant."
Ted waved to Sarah. <A pleasure,> he said very briefly, then focused on his work once more.
As they continued to walk, Kai noted, "You're free to organize or decorate your space however you like as long as it doesn't interfere with yours or anyone's work." Or display anything blatantly offensive but Kai hoped he didn't have to say that. "You're free to wear whatever you like as long as it's practical for a given assignment. Know though if you advertise that you're an agent, you will be held to the highest standard of conduct. And probably have a harder time with covert missions." Like someone else around here, Dragomir. "Asserting that authority comes with its own benefits, but I recommend discretion in who you talk about work with."
Stopping in front of a desk-- partially blocked off for more privacy and the ability to put things on the walls, but not so enclosed and isolating as a full cubicle-- Kai asked, "Any questions or concerns?" He'd imagine she had at least a few.

YOU'LL HAVE TO RISE ABOVE THE BEST AND PROVE YOURSELF, YOUR SPIRIT NEVER DIES ❝ Sarah smiled at Ted and made a small wave in return to the Beheeyem “Pleasure,” she said as they passed. She listened attentively watching him as he spoke, she nodded a couple of times to confirm that she understood what he was saying. She ran her fingers over her desk noticing that her nameplate was already in place. This made her feel more at ease, they must have been anticipating her joining the team and being wanted to some extent made her nerves sooth a little. She determined that she would like this unfamiliar job and at the very least, the Chief seemed amiable enough. Her nervous rigidity relaxed though she still maintained the professional cordiality. “We will strive to not disappoint sir,” she stated with determined conviction. By we she was referring to herself and her team. She sat in her chair adjusting the height to her liking and looked up at him when he asked if she had any questions. She paused thinking for a moment, letting her eyes scan the room looking for any pieces of information she could glean. “Presently no concerns Sir but if I have any I will be sure to come to you. I have a few curiosities mostly about the sort of cases that you see coming across your agent’s desk. Are there any organizations causing unrest within the region? What sort of caliber of crime do you see most frequently?” This information would help her glean what sort of whirlwind she would have to prepare for. She was sure she could handle it but no matter how much you tested with flying scores determined how well you would manage the field. MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS

Post by Xavier Lockhart on Mar 2, 2018 8:16:27 GMT -8
Today was a big day. Xavier strode up to the Interpol HQ building with an uncharacteristic smile on his face, clutching a rather official looking envelop in his hand. This would certainly be news for the boss. He wondered how he would take it. For now, he’d just have to find the man. Opening the doors to the HQ proved his mission to be quite an easy one. Commander Kaimana was on the way to Xavier’s office with… Well, this was certainly a surprise. He’d pegged her as someone who could be a cop last night, but he didn’t anticipate being a new hire here. Trying to get the commander’s attention, “I’m sorry sir, I don’t mean to interrupt, but when you have a moment I need to speak with you in your office.” Turning to the new hire, “Another new recruit, eh? Welcome to Interpol rookie. Fresh faces are a rare site here I’m told. I look forward to seeing what you’ve got.” Turning back to Kaimana, “I won’t take up more of your time, page me when you’re ready for me sir.” With that, Xavier turns and heads towards his office.

Kai listened and took mental notes as Sarah listed off her questions. They were broad but important. Probably things she should know something about already, but asking him rather than trusting regional news or reports alone struck him as being thorough, and the sort to seek confirmation before trusting rumors or assumptions. Good girl, he felt this one was going to fit in nicely around the office.
He opened his mouth to answer her, but was interrupted by the ironic voice of Xavier claiming he didn't mean to interrupt. Well you did, didn't you. Hands slipping partially into his pockets, Kai shifted his weight and turned just enough to acknowledge both agents at once. He'd given the benefit of the doubt that whatever Xavier needed to speak with him about was Important, and vaguely answer, "Of course," even as Xavier went on to greet the new girl.
Annnnd just as quickly, Xavier was excusing himself and dashing off, leaving a bad taste in Kai's mouth. He'd never had any particular problems with him, though admittedly he hadn't been around for long. But that whole, showing up, butting in, and taking off almost before giving either of them a word in edgewise-- greeting Sarah but not giving her a chance to return before he took off even-- seemed... so rude? Maybe Kai was just in a bad mood, or maybe that was still the part of him that never quite got out of the habit of hearing subordinates request 'permission to speak, sir' before rambling off.
Kai gave him a few moments to move away before quietly sighing. "Xavier Lockhart. Don't let him fool you with the 'rookie' bit, he's still fresh meat himself," he mumbled.
Augh, now his mental notes from before were slightly scrambled, thanks Xavier. Not that he wasn't normally fine adapting to situation changes, but the ways in which he was trying to analyze Sarah with everything else was a bit more and a bit different than stuff he'd typically be doing in the field, and the brand of interruption quite different as well. Put another way, he supposed he'd be a lot more disoriented by a phone call from his mom in the middle of an intense battle than he would be by unexpected opponents or attacks. All right, all right...
"As far as your questions, it ranges everywhere, honestly. Our priority is always on the biggest cases. Matters of international safety and security. Legendary Pokemon activity, illegal experiments, smuggling contraband in and out of the country, and so-forth. When we can't make immediate progress on those sorts of cases, we get involved in more local crimes. Those are lower priority, but you'll probably deal with more of them day to day.

YOU'LL HAVE TO RISE ABOVE THE BEST AND PROVE YOURSELF, YOUR SPIRIT NEVER DIES ❝ Upon seeing Xavier approach, Sarah stiffened mildly coming out of the relaxed posture she had taken, as if coming to attention and then looked mildly annoyed at being called a “Rookie”. However, he didn’t give her much of a chance to respond so when he walked away she loosened again and turned her attention back to the Commander. She nodded her understanding “There’s always one in every work place…it doesn’t bother me,” she said lightly keeping any surprise or annoyance cloaked. She then proceeded to listen to attentively to Commander Kaimana and nodded. “Where I worked in Pyrite had a serious problem with Pokemon smuggling and heavily influenced by the gangs. Not unfamiliar territory, at least now I can do something to stop it.” She said with an eager conviction found in most wet eared, bright-eyed rookies. MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS

Ah, yeah he'd read a bit about Pyrite at various points. Some called it the worst crime spot in all of Orre, and Orre wasn't really known for being a bastion of security and social welfare in the first place, was it? "That exposure's good," he agreed softly with a nod. "Here's hoping we don't need to deal with much, but it's always good to be prepared."
Hrm... This introduction felt a bit short, but he couldn't decide if it really was or if he always expected too much from talking one on one with newbies. Or, one on one on one-extra-interruption, heh. But she seemed eager to work. "Do you need anything else, or should I leave you to organize your desk and set your login while I see if we have any case info you might need on top of what was emailed to you?"

YOU'LL HAVE TO RISE ABOVE THE BEST AND PROVE YOURSELF, YOUR SPIRIT NEVER DIES ❝ She watched him attentively, he seemed quite the amiable man. Seasoned with experience and wizened with by the consistent requirements of the job. By appearances he seemed to have the grit and tenacity that would be admirable to respect and follow. She was eager to see how it would all unfold, but for now she was satisfied that where she had been led and to whom she had been led, held a lot of potential. She nodded “Hopefully we do not, but we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t a possibility.” The sentiment was a good one to have; always hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. At his final question she let her eyes scan her desk as she ran over a mental list of if there was anything she needed “No sir, everything is in order on my end,” she stood up to shake his hand again “If I need anything I’ll be sure to come and ask. Thank you so much for your time sir.”MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS NOTES:|TAGS:|WORD COUNT:
