As Malik moved to sit down, Haiiro did as well for now. A few small signs were given to both Shadow and Steel, the latter widening his circle to keep an eye on the Fraxture while the prior quick to come back towards Haiiro again. After that though, Haiiro sat down across from Malik and allowed his Umbreon to climb right up in his lap. She happily folded into that dark coat and mumbled a few tones to herself.
It's nice when a Pokemon is a long time friend. Haiiro's gaze raised to Malik again, and a subtle curl of his lips was given before a nod was. He could guess as much that he meant Steel, but Shadow had been with him for nearly as long. She was his second Pokemon raised as an Eevee, and he adored her closeness and relished in her regular comforts. Whereas he had trouble expressing himself from time to time, she did not have any trouble reading and understanding the subtle shifts in his body that made up the bulk of his 'expressions'. She took pride in what she knew, pride in how close she was with Haii. Maybe just a little too much pride, but whatever right?
The lull in the 'conversation' was vaguely nice for Haiiro. Both eyes closed, and he simply drew in the touch of warmth from above and the subtle shifts in the air. It was comforting and compelling to be in silence from time to time, and he always did find he could think clearer this way. It would be upwards of fifteen minutes before Steel's call had Haiiro jolting some. Clearly he and the still nameless Fraxure come across something, but who knew if it would really be of interest.
Shadow could already feel Haii moving, was quick to leap off his lap and look around with him. The Skarmory in the distance was a good beacon for where they needed to be. Looking back to Malik, Haii gave a quick few hand signs only to stop and remember that this one didn't know them. Fishing out his pad of paper, he wrote out a simple word: Pokemon before showing it and starting in that general direction.

MY ACTIONS WILL SPEAK FOR ME AND NOTHING YOU SAY WILL BE MORE LOUD ☼ Malik's head was lowered until he heard the Pokemon in the distance. He immediately looked towards Haiiro for an answer as to what that call was and he got that answer. Placing his Trapinch down so he wouldn't dump him out of his lap, Malik hopped to his feet and started after the other man.
Mojave followed in Malik's shadow all the way up until they reached a spot where they could slow down. The Yamask would pop out of his young master's shadow and look around with him, both stopping to spot whatever just moved in the distance. That looked kinda big, there also looked like there was a smaller Pokemon around as well.
He couldn't exactly tell because the larger figure was growing closer, and said larger figure was a Krookodile. "oh." Malik spoke in a simple, kind of uh-oh like tone. Both Mojave and Sonoran began to growl at the Pokemon, but Mojave was the first to move forward.
Neither of the Pokemon made too much of a movement until the Krookodile flung mud towards all of them. Malik didn't mind the mud, and neither did either of his Pokemon, but the initial strike from it did sting a little from force. "Will-o-wisp" May as well get the damage started on it. Ghost like flames danced around the Krookodile, diving in when they seemed to have found an opening.
The large Pokemon let out an angered growl, stomping towards Mojave with a glare on her face that could probably be translated to being the intent to kill or something like that. "Mojave, energy ball?" Was it glaring at him or something, was that supposed to be scary face? Either way, Mojave gathered up a ball of soft green light, and just when the Krookodile got close enough, he threw it up into her jaw, staggering her back a few steps so he could breathe.
Well, breathe as much as a ghost needs to that is. The Krookodile shocked them both when it moved faster than either of them expected, swinging her fists at Mojave and knocking him back, a dark glow enshrouding her arm. "I guess so. But." If that was foul play, then why? Huffed, he looked over at Mojave, who was still with him, but injured. Luckily, Yamask didn't have much going for them in the attack department. "Energy ball one more time." If they were going to go that route, he'd gladly follow.
As a second ball struck the Krookodile and put her to the ground, Malik cautiously approached it, looking down at it, legs tensed and ready to jump back if she really wasn't down. After a moment of silent consideration, the boy took an ultra ball and dropped it on her, pulling her inside and giving him a bit of time to back away and watch. NOTES: notes ☼ TAGS:@tag

On actually seeing the Pokemon that Steel had found, Haiiro's eyes grew before narrowing. The Fraxture had managed to corner not the Krookodile now heading at Malik and his team but a Numel who seemed rather irritated to be cornered at all. A Taunt from the Fraxture kept the Numel from focusing his energy, and instead, the two were going at it matching Earth Power with Dragon Claw. How well this was going, though, was debatable at best when Earth Power was actually shooting projectiles and shit but her they were.
Haiiro's teeth clenched, and he made a small sign to Shadow. The Umbreon called out catching the Fraxture's attention. O-oh? Dragon Dance? Ugh ok. The dragon quickly danced out of the way of the Numel, giving him time to recoup and breathe as well as strengthen the Fraxture in turn. Another nonverbal order, and a Dual Chop formed in the Fraxtures front paws before he went crashing forward to claw at the Numel. As stubborn and focused as the latter was, the prior was far stronger just in constitution and raw power right then. Two hits, and the Numel finally crashed forward.
Haiiro's eyes glazed over some as he debated tossing a Pokeball at the fallen lava-camel. They could be a stubborn and pretty impressive force when evolved, so he supposed that was fine. Fishing out a Pokeball, he tossed it at the Numel.

MY ACTIONS WILL SPEAK FOR ME AND NOTHING YOU SAY WILL BE MORE LOUD ☼ Malik stepped forward a few paces to pick the ball up when it clicked shut and turned to face Haiiro, who had just also happened to throw his own Pokeball it seemed. Careful of the sprouting cactus, the darker male stepped over it with practiced ease, his Yamask and Trapinch following behind, both looking incredibly proud of themselves.
He was going to mention something about the Pokemon here being aggressive, but that was the case with almost all desert based creatures. It was kill or be killed in arid environments, so the aggression was beyond understandable if anyone actually sat back to think about it. Malik stared on in silence, waiting for Haiiro's ball to click before saying anything.
If Haiiro would look at Malik, he'd just offer a shrug, backpack bouncing heavily with it.

As the Pokeball dinged in capture, Haiiro shifted his stance some, watching it glow and dart off for home for now. His Fraxure was dancing in elation at having won such an easy battle. Shadow rolled her eyes to stare up at Haiiro judgmentally. He should be curtailing such personality traits before they got to a stage where it proved impossible.
A gloved hand reached up apathetically to ruffle the thin black strands of hair that formed a mesh at Haiiro's skull. He knew what that look was, understood what it meant, but wherein his voice might have been used to calm and quiet Pokemon now, it had been months since he had used it. A small hand gesture was given instead, and the Umbreon nodded darting off to the Fraxure herself to give some words on the matter.
It was only after this that Haiiro registered Malik's presence again. Blue eyes raised and flickered over to the man as he offered a shrug. A small shrug was given back in return, the bag at his shoulder moving on a little. So long as there were Pokemon battles, there would be a sense of intensity.
While Dancing around, the Drgaon accidentally stepped on the tail of a Sandile half buried in the ground. A sharp sound hit the air, and the latter came bursting upwards with a Crunch to that leg in particular. The Fraxure yelped in response wicing and growling. How dare her happiness be disrupted by such a lower life form?! An Outrage formed in one claw before she swung it fiercely at the Sandile causing the latter to go flying and crying out in fear. It would hit the ground far off with a gentle thud, and the Fraxure huffed a bit dryly.
Watching the whole thing, Shadow rolled her eyes. Why were Drgaons in particular like this? What was even…. Ugh.

MY ACTIONS WILL SPEAK FOR ME AND NOTHING YOU SAY WILL BE MORE LOUD ☼ Malik didn't have much to say outside of yelping in surprise at the Trapinch trying to put it's jaws around his feet. He had felt the ground rumbling, so he should have saw it coming. Stepping back a bit more, he stared at the Trapinch while Sonoran let out his own, annoyed and croaking growl. Mojave was already forming an energy ball and throwing it towards where the wild Pokemon's open mouth was.
A large stone formed in front of the Trapinch and shot towards the Yamask, but didn't stand much of a chance when the ghost just floated out of the way with another Energy ball in hand, flying towards the Trapinch and knocking it out. Malik's face was written with frustration, but quickly covered back up by his flat expression. "eck" He grunted in mild frustration. Aggression aggression aggression it seemed with the Pokemon today. Even Mojave looked a little aggressive. Maybe something was bothering him?

It seemed Malik had his own battle to deal with and just as well. Two Pokemon that were of lesser stages and quality than the Flygon and Krookodile were more a nuisance than anything after catching the prior. And yet, for now at least, it seemed things had settled again.
Haiiro reached up slowly feeling through his dark hair once more. He might have suggested that they move on, search a different area, or even stay put for a moment and have Steel come out and search, had it not been for the ground suddenly shaking. Blue eyes dropped, squinted, and lips pressed together in a frown as two Sandshrew came up from the ground, suspiciously close to where the Trapinch had been. Had they been moving along similar lines or through similar holes? It was hard to tell but seemed plausible given how close they were.
He wasn't… too interested in either of them, really, but the way one of them was looking at him had his eyebrow raising. Hmph. Well. He didn't travel in the desertish area without a Water Pokemon, so- A flash of light, and a Mantyke came forth. A small hand gesture, and she was sailing around him and releasing a stream of bubbles at the Sandshrew. The latter too it hard and swayed a bit before fainting. Hm.

MY ACTIONS WILL SPEAK FOR ME AND NOTHING YOU SAY WILL BE MORE LOUD ☼ Malik nodded at the shrug, looking to the two Sandshrew coming up on them, well... the Sandshrew approaching Malik could at least be seen approaching them from a distance where the one attacking Haiiro came up from the ground. He didn't get much time to think, his face screwed in confusion as his Yamask started to glow. He was pretty sure that he hadn't seen any sort of sign that Yamask could get any bigger?
Oh well, when a giant gold sarcophagus was staring down at him, his face actually morphed into one of fear, and he stood in a silent, yet locked up form of shock. He didn't move, and Mojave just continued to stare at him. There was a long, awkward silence as the Sandshrew continued waddling over to them that the two stood and stared at each other.
Eventually, the Cofagrigus gave Malik a hug, lifting him up for just a bit before placing him down gently. He was still a little nervous with the ghost, but it didn't feel like it had hostile intentions towards him. He left Mojave out of the ball, but continued side-eying him. The Sandshrew finally arrived, standing in front of the two, letting out a low growl.
Grabbing another Pokeball, he let out his Mudkip, a new Pokemon to his team that he didn't quite understand. It's coloration was different from normal Mudkip, both normal and shiny, really. But then again, he had a strange way of finding strange Pokemon... or really they found him. He dubbed the Mudkip an oasis based Pokemon due to it's coloration.
He tilted his head down at the Mudkip and observed it, he could only assume what moves it had, so when it came time to strike at the Sandshrew, he just shrugged and gave a small motion towards the Pokemon. "Do a thing?" He didn't know the things, so hopefully the Pokemon did. And it did! As he told it to do a thing, water bubbled at it's mouth before it launched a powerful stream of water towards the Sandshrew, knocking it backwards with a rough blast. "oh..." Well that worked at least.
Grabbing a Pokeball, he tossed it at the Sandshrew and waited. Maybe he was just so drawn to desert Pokemon because he was homesick.

The minor distraction of the Sandshrew was nothing compared to the sudden evolution of one of Malik's Pokemon and the Cofagrigus's motions thereafter. Haiiro had frozen briefly to stare more surprised than he'd let on. As many Dark and Ghost types as he had, Haiiro did not have one of those frightening creatures. Seeing it reasonably 'up close' however had piqued his interest more than he wanted to admit to. As the Sandshrew was caught, Haiiro slowly started over to it, his eyes fixed on the golden sheen. The Mantyke, meanwhile, floated by looking up with a small smile as before.
Shadow, meanwhile, was quick to curtail the Fraxure in her charge to keep her from going any further and starting back in Haii's direction for now. That was enough exploring, yes, go that way away from the ever-expanding desert that stretched out into the beyond.
As Haiiro got up to Malik again, he fished out a pen and paper and wrote a quick note before flipping it around -- Congratulations -- .

MY ACTIONS WILL SPEAK FOR ME AND NOTHING YOU SAY WILL BE MORE LOUD ☼ "Thank you." Malik replied softly, nodding his head some as he turned to look at the Skorupi hissing at his Mudkip and vice versa. Still standing close to the Cofagrigus, he felt the Pokemon when it closed it's sarcophagus and grew still. Deeply confused by this, he found his self looking back and forth between the two pokemon even more. "I... w....areyouok?"
The ghost gave him a shadowy pat on the head before receding once again. Ok... so it was still good? He needed to pay attention to Tafilalt though, that was one of the only ways he was going to learn what moves the Pokemon knew. The Skorupi finally initiated the fight, swinging it's tail and knocking back his Mudkip. Tafilalt made an annoyed sound and retaliated... with a Hydro Pump.
As the Pokemon was blown backwards, it let out an annoyed hiss, righting itself to immediately launch a fell stinger towards Tafilalt, striking the Pokemon on the shoulder. Tafilalt, still obviously interested in just keeping the Skorupi as far away as possible, formed a ball of water, smashing it into the ground to create a wave.
The wave rolled towards the Skorupi, picking up small rocks and other various desert debris as it swept towards the Skorupi, knocking it back and down for the count it seemed. Throwing the ball towards the scorpion, Malik stood there in silence, contemplating how to raise or train a water type. This was a whole new kind of experience, oh gosh. He had such a difficult time bonding with unfamiliar Pokemon, now here he was, catching an arsenal of Pokemon like people say a proper trainer 'should' do.
Was it really a good point to have said arsenal if you have a hard time bonding with Pokemon? Or if you didn't know very man Pokemon outside of what you've always trained? He looked over to Mojave and considered for a moment just how ready he thought he was. He didn't even know that his Yamask had an evolution. He stared at his Cofagrigus even longer as his Trapinch moved about, picking up the ball containing the Sandshrew and moving over to drop it by his feet to pick up. NOTES: notes ☼ TAGS:@tag
