Having been in Alto for a sort of pseudo honeymoon with Vesta, pseudo since it was to celebrate their engagement, not their marriage, Mia made her way through the town on some alone time she had, having just left Vesta to finish getting all the foofy bits of the spa treatment they'd booked while she was satisfied with just the hot spring and a massage. Nah all the pedicures and hair stuff and crap she could leave to Ves, for her time she was gonna hang around town and take it in, she'd never really been to Alto before afterall and she'd heard from the League there was a new fairy type gym leader here, so she was gonna go check out their...
"The hell...?"
Finding what the locals had said was the new Gym, Mia was surprised to find it was just one big garden area out in the more wild parts of town. Looking around, making sure this wasn't like...some half done construction project, she just lightly shrugged and made her way round to the big fancy doors, expecting visitors and challengers were at least expected to enter the right way, peering around the garden area with curious eyes.
"Heloooooo? Any gym leaders home...?"

Chirping and hooting filled the warm air of the new gym, waving sweet-smelling pollen and sparkles of dew upon its currents. There, among the flowers of the garden sat a being with a crown of flowers all her own, dazzling white and shimmering in the soft breeze. It was peaceful here. Quiet. Just as she liked it. Petunia the Florges meditated on her thoughts, having experienced more stress than most Pokemon would or should within the last few weeks. Building a Gym was by no means an easy endeavor, especially with a language and species barrier imposing its will between she and the workers. There was no choice though; Petunia was a caretaker, more like a mother to her charge than those she held a biological connection to. She was here, they were not.
They never were. Not anymore.
In some odd way she missed them, even if she couldn't understand them as well as she could Fae. Always imposing figures, always giving orders and commands, aides rushing around them like Combee to a Vespequen. It added some much needed chaos to a very ordered and slow life, which Petunia appreciated, lest she grow complacent in the duty she had taken upon herself. Fae could not look after herself, that much was obvious. She needed Petunia.
An unfamiliar voice disturbed her thinking; definitely female but certainly more gruff and strong than the soft lilting tones of her pink-haired lady. A challenger, perhaps? She could not be certain. Though she knew whoever it was would request an audience with Fae. Pokemon didn't knock, after all, especially not wild ones. Shaking the beads of dew from her petals, the Florges stood much as a dignified lady would, virtually gliding over to the high, ornate oak door that led out into the outside world.
While of course there were no walls, only a hedge and a series of classically-designed pillars around the well tended garden, humans often felt it customary to approach via the door. Fae had insisted it be put in place, citing that 'proper manners' were needed. No such customs existed in Pokemon society, at least that she had observed. Petunia could not understand the need of such a heavy structure, yet the curious wild Pokemon that had gathered around it awaiting the new entrant seemed charged with electric levels of excitement. Children, they were. All small ones with no experience or care. But they were not judged here, this was a place of play and nurture; a place where they could be forever safe, should they choose to stay.
She leaned over to a small Floette gliding on its vivid red flower, whispering a small message to it, spurring it into a haste of fervent activity, making for the large red rosebud in the center of the garden. In the meantime, Florges stepped forward from the half-ring of onlookers, opening the door as a lady of a household would, bowing gently to the newcomer. Of course she could not communicate beyond body language, frustrating as that was to someone so integrated into human life and so vital to her lady's good health, yet she had picked up ways to communicate dignity and manners to guests. Unless they disturbed the sanctity of the garden, all deserved such respect.
Yet she did not look like most women Petunia had experience with. Clearly not gentle and fair like Fae but not strict and structured like her mother. This woman was... she wasn't quite sure how to describe her. Like a bright golden fire given form. Wild, carefree and powerful, much like the Infernapes or Machokes she had come into contact with, always willing to display strength and to compete with others. Yet the strange arm on this one made her re-evaluate that for a moment, she was a wounded animal. Patched but not fully whole. Not yet.
Perhaps the garden had what she needed after all.
Holding one of her vine-like arms out to indicate that this woman was respectfully allowed entry. In truth anyone was allowed to enter the garden and interact with the flowers and the Pokemon, so long as they did not disturb the mistress' slumber. Only challengers may interrupt it deliberately, or those with official business. There was a certain poise to this one that indicated someone of high importance, even if she did not realize it. Petunia knew in an instant this was a fellow Gym Leader to Fae and she could give herself three guesses as to the Type she had mastered.
--------
Meanwhile, the shimmering pink locks of the slumbering princess shifted only slightly, in response to her breathing. Her dreams had taken over again, which was both a terrifying and an enjoyable experience most of the time. When dreams turned to nightmares, Fae often could not escape. But when the dreams took her on wild adventures, she did not want to.
From the outside the petals of the rose bud looked soft and velvet, just as real petals were. In reality they were strong, designed to protect its occupant from weather, temperature and most intruders. Small gaps existed if only to allow some small guests, usually Beautiflies or Flabébé's but now a Floette, slipping between the gaps in the hard structure to give its protector a small kiss on the cheek, attempting to gently wake her from her unconscious state. Fae stirred and smiled, blinking slowly.
And the rose bud began to bloom.

Mia was not reassured that this was a gym from the horde of small pokemon around her feet as she walked in, trying to look around for any sort of..technology she guessed? A score board, a screen to show battle stats, crap like that, but she guessed not. Huh...her eyes drifted naturally to the oversized flower, tilting her head to the side as it began to open up and trying to peer inside, but not managing to really get much yet. She could tell easily enough that the gym leader didn't seem to be inside for the most part (a foolish mistake just cause she didn't account for the girl laying down). So for now as the flower continued to open, she crouched down and offered her hand out to some of the quieter pokemon for them to lick and get adjusted to her.
"Hey any of you know where the new fairy girl is?"

Colder air stung her shoulders and face as she sat up, causing her to shiver slightly as her body adjusted. The in-built heating elements of the rose bud kept her very warm even in the harshest storms, the likes of which she had never actually seen in Alto but had been assured did happen on occasion. She liked to be prepared. Or, perhaps more accurately Petunia liked to be prepared, Fae just went along with it because she knew her responsible little flower knew better.
It took a few blinks to clear the sleep from her eyes, fuzziness still making it hard to discern the familiar shapes of the garden around her even as the flower finally bloomed in full. Mouth slightly agape and hair somewhat of a frizzy mess, Fae sat up, half-lidded eyes scanning her surroundings for the challenger that had awoken her. It would be the first she'd had in a while and something in the sleepy princess stirred at the thought of having another battle. From somewhere to her right the Floette from earlier spun excitedly and floated off towards the door, making the sleepy mistress of the garden slowly look over towards it, pushing aside the small duvet and pillow.
Shakily she stood, waving at who she presumed to be her challenger, taking careful steps down the petals to her left to make her way towards them. Her short stature made it rather easy to navigate the complex layers of hard petals but she knew Petunia considered it sheer luck that Fae hadn't injured herself stepping down before. It took her a moment to realize she had been wearing the very same pajamas the League had told her not to wear... again. But it didn't bother her at all; she was forgetful, they would have to accept that.
Finally making her way down the path to the entrance area, she gave another small wave to her guest, realizing that because the Pokemon around her were not asleep this must have been an official visit. She heard Petunia give a small sigh of annoyance at her state of dress as she rounded the corner. Fae would have to apologize later. Half-lidded eyes and a small smile precluded her greeting, holding a soft-pale hand out. head cocking slightly in curiosity.
"Hello! Welcome to the Alto Fairy Gym, I'm Fae... um... who do I have the pleasure of greeting today?"

Mia was...more than a little surprised by what met her eyes as the other gymleader walked down the path towards her, her mouth hanging open with a loose "uuuuuuh" sound slipping out of her lips. Was...was this girl wearing fucking lingerie? She'd probably have to ask Vesta if this counted when she got home but holy crap girl you were FIT and could pull this off, but DAMN kids came to gyms!?
"Er...s-sorry was just...kinda...stunned." She took her hand with a firmer shake than Fae may have been expecting, smirking a little nervously as they shook hands. "Just a fellow gym leader checking in on my new co-worker...you er...in the middle of a nap or is this your sorta...'gym costume'?"

Fae's mouth opened somewhat in an O-shape at the unusual actions of this golden-haired lady. It took her a moment to realize it was the outfit that was causing the issue, which made her pout somewhat in embarrassment, Petunia adding her thoughts with a roll of her eyes before turning and heading deeper into the garden. If she was honest with herself Fae was rather stunned by just how strong the grip of this woman was... she certainly had the muscles but it felt like more than that. More than physical strength but also emotional strength. Like she had gone through something traumatic and not only survived but had come out a stronger person.
It didn't take a genius to figure out what that trauma was.
Fellow Gym Leader hm? That explained the general feeling of power this girl had. Fae thought she recognized her face from something but as usual the memory was escaping her... not for the first or last time she cursed her affliction affecting her memory. Suddenly she felt tired again, like the weight of such thoughts were forcing her energy to drain, but Fae knew how to stave it off for a time. It would be rude to fall asleep on a colleague, after all.
"S-sorry... the League told me not to wear this anymore but I keep forgetting... I tend to be a bit forgetful. Its not really a Gym costume, I just sleep a lot, hehe~ The big rose in the middle of the garden is a giant bed for me to sleep in and it doubles as a battle area!" She beamed rather proudly as she spoke about the features of her gym she had requested. Of course the bed was necessary considering her condition but throwing that onto new people tended to be a bit overwhelming and often turned the conversation awkward. "Oh, we have some tea and cakes if you'd like to sit for a while and the Pokeon around here all love to play and have fun! Some are little rascals though, so keep your valuables close, ok?~"

Mia was still a little alarmed by the nightie, even with the explanation, but to each their own yeah? "Well I might invest in some more...modest pyjamas, incase you get any young challengers coming round with their parents or something." Of course she could barely talk, some challengers had came in on her sweating in a tube top and spats, some had came in and...well she was lucky her couch didn't face the gym entrance let's leave it at that. Anyway at the offer of some tea she smirked. "Er...sure. I ain't got much valuable beyond my arm so unless they wanna steal that off me...well good luck if they do anyway.~"
Following Fae wherever she lead, she'd sit down and enjoy some tea if it was offered, not sitting in a lady like manner whther they used a chair or sat down like a picnic or something, just crossing her legs pretty casually and enjoying what was offered. "So you been a gym leader long? Gotta say your the first leader I've seen literally sleeping on the job."
