MARCH MADNESS!
Are you ready to battle? Well, hopefully you will be when you see how much sleeker battles can be with our new Ultimate Battl-o-matic! Yes, for six low low payments of Φ199.99, you too can be a battle expert! ...Wait, there's gotta be an easier way than that.
WORMHOLE NEWS
Poipole has been spotted! Will Astrid manage to apprehend the invader? Only time will tell!
In the meantime, it seems the sudden flux of wormholes has stabilized... for now. But could any more beasts have slipped through? I wouldn't be surprised if one turned up somewhere...
And what of our friendly Slakoth invasion? Well....
Prairie: 3 Slakoth | Savannah: | Farmlands: 1 Slakoth | Meadow: | Garden: |
Suburban: 3 Slakoth | Urban: 6 Slakoth | Slums: 3 Slakoth 1 Vigoroth | Industrial: 2 Slakoth | Ruins: 7 Slakoth 1 Vigoroth |
Caverns: 1 Slakoth 1 Vigoroth 1 Slaking | Deepcaves: 2 Slakoth 2 Vigoroth | Mountains: 4 Slakoth 1 Vigoroth | Arid: 6 Slakoth | Rugged: 3 Slakoth |
Foothills: 1 Slakoth | Woodland: 3 Slakoth | Deepwoods: 2 Slakoth | Undergrowth: 1 Slakoth | Tropic: 2 Slakoth |
Wetlands: 1 Slakoth | Lakeside: 1 Slakoth 1 Vigoroth | Shoreline: 4 Slakoth | Oceanic: 7 Slakoth | Tundra: 3 Slakoth 1 Slaking |
The Slakoth roamed far and wide, and explored many venues all over Veria! Quite a few found downtown to their liking, while others enjoyed basking in the warm sun of some of Veria's driest regions. Some took to the mountains, and a surprising number greatly enjoyed the ocean!
But in the end, the sloths chose their home, and more congregated to the Ruins than any other terrain! From here on, Slakoth will be a permanent normal spawn in the Ruins!

BATTLE UPDATES 2.0
The new Battle system detailed here is ready to start rolling out! You'll notice several new buttons in the reply form from which you can select commonly used die rolls. These menus help ensure there are no input errors, and in the case of additional effects on moves (the % Effects button, for things like the Paralysis chance of Thunderbolt) can even be helpful in checking if a move has an effect. The moves in that menu are listed in alphabetical order.
A small guide help showing in practice what the new system will look like can be found here!
At the time of this update, you will notice some of the buttons are blank or incomplete, but these will be finished over the next day or so. All the official changes to the guidebook will also be going up during that time.
As one note: the move Secret Power now yields a randomized effect on-site; rather than being tied to location, which is hard to measure in RP, each of its 10 possible side effects carries a 3% chance of triggering for the total 30% side effect chance. We hope to go through the altered moves and abilities on site some time in the next month and see if anything else might need cleaned up, tweaked, or even just reverted to more standard usage (the way Surf was after we introduced air-swimming).
We hope you all enjoy the new system and find it much more user-friendly, fair, and fun!
Rapid-Fire Notes
- The Valentine's contest is now over, and winners should be announced within the next day or few once judges have time to score all the entries. Thanks to everyone for participating!
- With the AC over, most character bios have been sorted out. It is worth noting that several Gym Leaders and a Professor were downgraded for low activity to free up those spots. (If they would like a different class than the ones they were changed to, they can simply use the Class Change thread in Modded Business. If they wish to try to reclaim the position, it will require 10 posts in 1 month to demonstrate improved activity, same as a new GL is required to have.)
HOWEVER! As an important note, pre-existing threads with these characters may continue as normal if both/all parties desire. That especially means that current Gym Challenges may continue, and the former Leaders can still claim payment for finishing the matches, and the Challengers still earn a badge and claim winnings if they win. The downgraded characters simply can't start any new threads where they still have the position. - We have a Blockquote button now. ;v; It's next to the horizontal rule button.
- We have a new psychic ability - Spirit Sensing! It entails some spooky phenomenon, but you can read much more about it in the Guidebook once it's updated tomorrow!
- As a reminder for the Swarm change issued last month, the new Swarms begin today, but the old ones won't end until 11:59PM PST tonight, so get any last minute catches in to those if you're going to!
- The Feedback Thread is always open, too, so feel free to let us know any thoughts!
SWARMS
Seems the trees are all abuzz this March, and not just from the bees and the pollen! Loads of tree-dwelling Pokemon are weighing down the branches throughout Veria's forests!
PHARAOH LEAP.
