Sinclair City was really an interesting place, a non native could never imagine a trains as a community where people live. The city was pretty large and a very important aspect of the region that living here and working were probably very easy, anyone could do it. However not everyone was in a situation where they couldn’t afford to stay in one place, where getting caught would mean the loss of freedom, or worse. If only things were different, but they were in a sense. Here no one knew the people that entered the docks of Veria every single day. New faces and backgrounds come and go, it was easy to get lost in here and no one would suspect a thing. Perhaps this was something to think about in time when bridges have been crossed, now then the reason of being here in Sinclair. Skylar may have been good at hiding but he didn’t know much about being a trainer...or battling other trainers. So far he’s been able to battle pokemon and catch them, but other than that this was new to him. He didn’t have the grand opportunity to become a trainer like a good handful of kids did back home. Most of his childhood was filled with pain and loneliness, things he still struggles with but not as much. After doing a bit of research in one of the city libraries he found out about the trainer school in Sinclair City, of course he remembered the trainer school back home but it wasn’t nearly as nice as this one. There he was able to make contact with one of the school teachers, Elayne Navi, it sounded strange nut who was he to judge? He sent a simply email introducing himself and asking a few questions about the school, then he closed with a request to meet her at the school. He hoped that maybe it would be better to ask his questions up close and personal. He just hoped she wasn’t too taken aback by his appearance, most people were but he hoped that she could look past that and just actually talk to him like a person and not something to be creeped out by. Skye finally made it to the school but found that her class was still in session, must be one hell of a topic they’re discussing or something. Well he didn’t want to barge in, that would be rude and also he figured that if this was a school then kids would be here. And although he just LOVES the sound of children screaming in terror, it probably wouldn’t be nice to leave the poor teacher with all those crying students. Instead the young man chose to wait just outside of the classroom in the hallway, there was a window with a perch that he climbed up on to have a seat. He pulled his hoodie up to obscure his face, at least no one would be staring at him because of his face covering. He peeked out of the window and looked outside as people roamed past the school with pokemon in tow. Eventually he zoned out, thinking about how cool it would be to become a trainer. Elayne Laurent

The lesson that morning had taken quite a bit longer than Elayne had expected. Not because the children had been misbehaving this time (thank goodness) but because they had a lot more questions than she had anticipated. That was a good thing however and she had been the one to suggest they stay after class and discuss amongst themselves in groups if they still wanted to talk about the subject. Unfortunately, she was also expecting to meet what sounded like a prospective student for the school. Elayne certainly didn't want to discourage the students from learning, she shouldn't make them wait too much longer. After a quick email to another staff member and friend, another teacher quickly took over the class while Elayne made a quick exit before the students noticed. Elly was close at her heels as Elayne left the classroom with a quiet sigh and smiled at the person wearing a hoodie and... was that a mask? Well, it wasn't what she'd been expecting but all the same, she wanted to make him feel welcome. "Skylar, I presume?" Elayne asked quietly, extending a hand to him, "Sorry about the wait, why don't we take this outside? That way you can show me your Pokemon if you'd like~." That and it would hopefully give them more privacy away from the other children. Elly mewed in greeting, jumping up to the windowsill next to Skylar. This new person was interesting and though she was cautious, that shiny mask drew her interest.

Skye was still spacing out when the teacher approached the young man, his mind wandered from being a trainer to a strange day dream. A battle stadium became engulfed in a fog, the radio static he often hears in his subconscious droned precariously as it always did. Then there was a sensation, it felt like his senses were trying to tune into something. There was garbled white noise for a moment before he heard voices, it was hard to make out what they were. But from what he could hear, it sound like strangled crying from something that clearly didn't sound human. Before he could delve further, a woman's voice yanked him right out of the day dream. He didn't appear visibly shocked but he was surprised to see someone standing in front of him. Blue eyes looked up to see what he originally confirmed, a young woman. She looked really nice as far as he could tell. The fact that she knew his name only meant that she was the Elayne Navi teacher he was meeting. He silently nodded, clearing his throat briefly. “Yes, that would be me. You can call me Skye though Miss Navi.”He glanced down at the hand she extended, he hesitated for a moment. He didn't want to be rude but he also did want her to look at his hands. They were stained with blood, his own blood of course! There were scratches and bruises everywhere, half of them were from his job helping the paranormal entities that he helps. And the other half was from climbing a tree the other day. He was trying to retrieve a stolen object from a wild pokemon and when he grabbed the item, he slid down the tree. His hands were cut up from loose sharp branches. They were all bandaged up but he was too embarrassed to admit what had taken place. But he had to take her hand before he took too long and seemed rude. From out of his sleeve, a bandaged covered hand drew out and grasped onto the woman's own hand. Hers was soft and warm, not like his own which were rough and cold. He shook her hand as briefly as he could before it withdrew back inside the sleeve. “It's nice to meet you. Not to worry, I wasn't waiting too long.”He paused for a moment and turned when he heard something jump on the windowsill. It was an espeon, he remembered seeing them with cool fashionable trainers that would bike by his house. This one looked a little apprehensive but curious at the same time. The cat like creature mewed at him, and he was tempted to pet her but he wasn't sure if it was okay. Instead he nods to the espeon and then he turns back to Elayne. “Right, I apologize in advance if I'm taking time out of your class time. But I'm very grateful you decided to do so anyways.”Once they were outside, Skye pulled down his hood so that his head was now fully visible. The frame of his torso started moving in an odd fashion. Out from his sweater popped out a pokemon, a meowstic. The pokemon looked up at Elayne and yawned. “We can start with her, this is Psyche. My first and main companion….she hates her pokeball so I just carry her around. So, how do you want to do this?"

As it seemed her appearance had startled the young man, Elayne stood quietly and waited for Skylar to say something. At his reply, she smiled and nodded, "Skye it is then," she replied quietly. Considering his hesitation on the handshake, Elayne had been about to withdraw her hand when he took it. His hands, or what she saw of them, were covered in bandages. Concern flitted in across her features before Skye spoke again. He hadn't been waiting long? That was good. Bringing her hands in front of her, Elayne clasped them and giggled a little at Elly. She must've followed her out of the classroom, the Espeon had always been something of a shadow. Elly purred and rubbed her head against Skye's arm. She didn't sense danger from him after all and he seemed nice and pets were always appreciated. "No, don't apologize. I'm happy to help in any way I can," Elayne replied warmly before motioning for him to follow her. Once they were outside, Elayne was taken slightly aback by the sight of the mask. She hadn't noticed it before with the hoodie up, but maybe it was for aesthetic purposes. It certainly made it difficult to tell Skye's reaction to her words but oh well. There were other ways to gauge reactions aside from facial features. Elayne had been about to say something when a Meowstic popped out of his sweater and yawned. The explanation that followed had Elayne laughing softly, "That's like my Elly. She stays out because she doesn't like her pokeball either. It's nice to meet you, Psyche. As for where to start... well, what would you like to know first? That would give me the best idea about how to go about this," she explained, waiting quietly thereafter for Skye's response.

Looks like Psyche wasn't the only one who didn't like being in a pokeball. Although she had one, her mother apparently always had Psyche out for practices and shows. It was rather obvious that Psyche was a show pokemon, her fur which would normally be a white and teal was a softer lilac and darker purple, much like an espurrs fur color. The Meowstic looked down to see the Espeon that tagged along behind Miss Elayne. Her ears twitch with interest, the little cat pokemon jumped out of Skye’s sweater and landed on her feet to get a closer look at her fellow cat pokemon. Skylar watched his pokemon a muffled chuckle emitted from the mask, he looked back at the teacher his left eye glazed as he thought for a moment. He released a tentative hum and a finger came up and tapped his permanently sealed lips. “Well, I supposed the beginning is probably the best place to start. I know plenty about battling wild pokemon. But how is battling other trainers any different?” He mused, contemplating if he had worded this correctly. But he had to wonder if there truly was any difference? Well if he thought about it if a person was training a pokemon the pokemon would then behave much more different than a wild one. So perhaps there was at least a bit of a difference. “Suppose I'm one of your students and it's my first day. What would you want me to know?” Putting it that way might help the teacher along a little bit better. There was so much she could show him that he wasn't certain what was important to know.
