Carrefor. It was like a second home to her. Honestly, it probably would have been her first home if Papa had his way. It was a place he belonged in. A place of myths, legends, and tall tales. Of belief, both good and bad. Harper found herself on these familiar old haunts on a dusty sort of afternoon. The empty “lot” she found herself in wasn’t exactly a park, but she knew from experience the neighborhood kids liked to hang out here. Or at least they used to. It seemed a bit deserted now, although some old makeshift equipment was still scattered about. Even though her father wasn’t here to direct her to do so, this was normally where she did her “scooping”. She had been hoping to see some of the noisy, rumor loving kids out. She was clinging to a Togepi in her arms, holding her tight. Not because she needed any kind of comfort. No. No. She was a grown-up, after all. It was simply cold and she had to hold her like this to keep her safe! More to the point, she was a little surprised to see the lot empty. Although there was some sort of frightening rumors going on, some mask wearing psycho… ghost… killer? She blew a raspberry without thinking. It was silly. Silly insomniac town seeing stuff, surely. Or some kid trying to scare people. Still, she was surprised at the notion that kids wouldn’t want to play outside just because of stories. Had to be something else. Between talks of people falling into mysterious large holes that seemed purposely laid out to catch people and the stories of ghostly laughter in the middle of night… it seemed like the town was imaginative as always. No difference really. Had they finally got around to building an actual park? Harper sighed… this was turning out to be such a dud. She really needed to stop taking these just “look into this” rumors and take on some actual cases, maybe go into straight PI work. Keeping her father’s business running, replacing the gadgets for detecting ghosts and aliens that just seemed to not work, and other… unavoidable expenses had started to eat at her “allowance”. She no longer could afford the fancy contacts that made her feel pretty, and between calling her mother and settling for a pair of childish frames… well… Her tum-tum made a rather large gurgle. She was so hungry… and she tried hard not to think of those kids she overheard talking about the masked killer eating people as she pondered what to have for dinner… Only to step on a soft patch of ground that seemed to just fall apart at even her weight… a hole! She scrambled to try to get off the soft spot before she fell inside, squealing loudly. “No no no no! Help!” Harper and her Togepi shrieked, Harper not really asking for help… I mean there was no one there. It just felt right to say.

Carrefor, it was a rather interesting place as far as he could tell. He hadn't been able to get into town what with randomly crashing and the persistant entity that was tied to the lot he was currently in. Ever since he stepped foot inside the the town it called out to him, it plagued his dreams. There was something it wanted from him, it knew he could sense it and because of this it needed him to be here. So for the most part he had been resting within the vicinity of the lot, he had set up a nice little place where he could rest if need be. Right now he was in the furest reaches of the area, the entity in his dream showed him where he needed to go and it also gave him a message. Help. Knock down. Kids.He wasn't really sure what to make of this but he'd been watching the kids that came into the lot for the last few days. He saw them play around here as if it was some kind of park. He was super careful though, he had seen one of them almost fall into a sinkhole the other day. Skye wondered if it this place was under contruction or something because the ground was much too soft. He continued to watch the kids and that was when he saw it, they had knocked something over and kicked it to the side. He suddenly sensed the area going hostile, he was going to warn the kids to get out of there. His sudden appearance spooked them, he had been well hidden in the cloak of darkness. When he appeared he made no noise and was closing in on them, when they noticed him the kids screamed and started to run. 'It's the masked psycho killer! GO GO GO!'The masked psycho what? He was very confused and he wasn't sure what they were going on about. Since he wasn't in town he didn't hear about the rumors that were spreading around him. He didn't realize that people had seen him around the lot and outside the town. He didn't notice he'd became some kind of ghost story. What did notice was the memorial that had been placed in the lot, something tragic happened here. He focused his mind to see a family and a child, and suddenly the child was gone. She was swallowed up by the earth, like the sinkholes that were suddenly opening up. The entity must be tied to the incident but he wasn't sure if it was actually the child or something that felt bad for the child. The memorial must had been created by the parents and the children and other outside interferences were destorying the memorial. Now he knew why he was here, he needed to help witht he broken memorial. "I understand now, I'll help as best as I can."He spent quite a bit of time with some arts and crafts stuff he'd purchased before he came to town and started creating something much more noticable and sturdy so that the kids couldn't knock it over. He even went so far as to grab some flowers from a nearby field and placed them into the memorial for the little girl. And it was like a weight was lifted from this place, the energy here felt lighter and happier. That was good, that was really good. Another job well done Tenebrose, maybe now he could go into town and get something to eat. He was starving and these protein bars just wasn't cutting it, Skye wanted actual food. Maybe brunch or something since it was too late for breakfast. Before he could make he way out he could sense the entity of the lot probing into his brain. Girl. Fall. Help.He was then treated to something strange, he could see a vision of the front of the lot. There was a little girl carrying her togepi, she probably wanted to play with the kids but they were scared off and hadn't really come back. Then he saw the ground open up from underneath her, just like the lost little girl in the other vision. He nodded, he knew what he had to do, he made his way out of the very back of the lot and towards the front, scanning for the hole in the ground. He he heard the girl's cry for help and eventually found the hole and peered down into the hole quizzically. His blue hair which were tied up in pigtails moved to side as he tilted his head. "...Found you..."He didn't mean to say that aloud but he kind of blurted it out. He supposed he should try and help her out. But how? The hole was too deep for him to reach in and pull her out. Perhaps there was something among the forgotten equipment he could use. He stepped away for a moment to do just that. Harper Haile

Harper lay there simply looking dazed and confused for a moment, almost surprised. Visions of deep dark pits, ones that might that lead down to the center of the Earth, scary thoughts of falling down for miles suddenly being thrust from her head with a loud thud. It was very deep indeed, but instead of forever it only took a few moments to reach the bottom. Although now that she was there, she kind of wished she was still falling. She scrunched up her face and closed her eyes. A whining sound escaped from her lips. “No…” she declared, disagreeing with this whole falling in a hole thing a lot. She whined loudly, repeating that it hurt a few times to no one. Not only did it hurt, but her whole body shook every time she tried to move. All of her muscles were getting tight and making it hurt even more. She had landed hard on her back, having positioned herself to take the blow instead of her baby Pokemon. In fact it hurt so much she was really sure that she had broken something. In fact that something just seriously felt like her butt. Even though she was in a lot of pain all she could think about was if it was even possible to break your butt, and how she would live with the embarrassment if she had. At least it hadn’t been her glasses. She had just bought a new pair and did not have money for another pair. It was a true sign of adulthood, stressing about money even in this moment. You see, she just did not have the money for on the job injuries and damages anymore. No matter how much she wanted these glasses to have an accident so she could maybe replace these bulky childish frames that made the other kids call her four-eyes. To cap it all off, her Togepi decided thank Harper for her heroic sacrifice by starting to cry loudly in her arms. Which hurt her ears, one of the few parts that hadn’t been hurt by the fall. That was when she saw movement above. A blank face that wasn’t just a blank face. No, it wasn’t even a face. The color was wrong. A face was normally lots of colors kind of but this was really just one. The expression unmoving. The hair was striking and just like they described. Her whole body started to shake again, because Harper realized what she was staring at. The Psycho Ghost Killer!? He was REAL!? He spoke. The words repeated in her head. Found you? Found her? Found me? How was she supposed to take that? Who wouldn't cry in her tiny shoes? “No no no no. Please no.” Her nasally voice sounding voice filled with the fright that shook her body again. He quickly seemed to walk off, but she was very sure he was not done. Now that he was somehow real, things quickly started adding up. Adding up real bad. You see, putting the puzzle pieces of “big mysterious holes” and “Psycho Ghost Killer” together made some pretty bad news. When she got here she had her assumptions. The holes, she figured, must be made by some new team that was planning some big seismic accident. If not that, surely alien Pokemon harvesting the planet’s natural resources. But now she was sure that this was a grave! She screamed the next words, reaching a full panicked state. “Please don't’t bury me alive! Please!” She was pretty sure that begging a Psycho Ghost Killer didn’t work though, but she didn't know what else to do. “Papa…” she whined… but calling for her missing partner didn’t really work either. Was this why he was missing? She clutched the Togepi in her arms tightly, deciding her baby Pokemon knew the right of it. That was all you could do in this moment. Make a lot of noise.

Skye looked around for anything he could use to get down the sinkhole, by the look of the girl there was no way she was getting back up. He came across a long thick rope, he looked around and found large tree that was close enough to the hole but just outside the range of the soft ground so that it wouldn't uproot and cause him to fall in as well. He went to the tree and secured one end of the rope tightly around it, thank goodness he learned how to tie knots when his aunt worked in Alola. He tugged on the tied end three times to ensure that it wasn't going to snap. The rope held firmly and the tree didn't give way, Skye walked back to the sinkhole and tossed the rest of the rope down. While he was doing that he heard the girl screaming and crying, something about not being buried alive. Why would he bury her alive? “Hold on,” he called out to her from the top of the sinkhole. “I'm going to get you out.”In his pocket he pulled out his protective gloves he would wear when he was skateboarding, he didn't want to get rope burn while descending down. Once the gloves were secured, he turned his back on the sinkhole and grabbed the roped. Skye backed up slowly and started climbing down the edge of the sinkhole, meanwhile in his mind there was a sense of urgency. The entity of the lot kept repeating the word hurry, there was no telling how long the ground would stay open. Skye touched down to the bottom of the sinkhole and made his way to the girl who was still panicking and calling for her father. He felt really bad for her right about now. “Hey,” he began, holding his hands up to show that he was unarmed. “look I'm not going to hurt you. I'm trying to get you out of here before this sinkhole closes, okay?”He waited for a moment before continuing, there really wasn't time for idle conversation. For now he just quickly looked her and her pokemon over for any obvious injuries. “Can you stand up?”Depending on her answer either she'd be able to climb up on the rope on her own or he would have to carry her and her pokemon. It was...oh a togepi. Just a small egg, both of their weight combined shouldn't be too much of a hassle. Harper Haile

The seconds carried on far longer than seconds should waiting for the end. When he showed back up the panic that had been building, all of that tension nearly burst out of her. Like she was a strained balloon about to go pop. She did not scream, but the scrunched up, frightened, and pained sound she did make was close enough to one. But then she saw them toss a rope down. The confusion she felt made her stare at it like it was some alien creature. Some sort of… long stringy alien, mayhaps. But no no, a rope. A plain ol’ rope. He was… helping her? And here she thought that rope aliens were a stretch… But in this unforeseen reality in which the Psycho Ghost Killer was like… maybe not one at all left her a bit confused. Unable to shake this uneasy feeling in her stomach, distrustful, a little scared… but equal parts starting to feel guilty. But more than that she started to feel scared about something else altogether. W-Why was the hole going to close up? Close up? They did that? With her inside? Was he just trying to scare her? Or was this another aspect of these holes she didn’t realize? Yes, yes, there was time for introspection later. Rope now. She slipped her Togepi in her Skitty themed back and then composed herself. Taking a big sniff and gesturing as if to imply she was “rolling up her sleeves” even though the top she was wearing didn’t have them. Or… this could not work at all and be a butt. She tugged at the rope kind of pathetically, her scrawny arms shaking visibly as she tried to use her non-existent muscles to pull herself up. Struggling in vain and quickly getting annoyed due to her already fragile emotional state. Only managing to swing ever so slightly and kick at the mud with her nice shoes. Quickly feeling her temper rise due to embarrassment about this being watched upon by another person. No no, this was climbing trees all over again. How did people do it!? It seemed paranormal! The feeling like she was supposed to be able to do this and then panic she felt from her imagination thinking about the walls around her closing in causing her to start to throw a fit. She looked back up and tried not to jump at the spooky not-face staring down at her. “I can’t!” Just gesturing at the rope, as if in disbelief. “There’s not a ladder nearby, is there?” Skylar Tenebrose

The girl still looked a little frightened but she managed to get up from the ground. That was somewhat good, it meant she might not have serious injuries. It looked as if she was well enough to climb back on her own, Skye stood where he was standing at the bottom of the hole and watched the girl climb up the rope, er well try to anyways. He could see she was struggling to pull herself up, all she did was swing and kick and it was so funny. The longer he watched her struggle and become frustrated, the more he wanted to laugh. It started with a snort that escaped from his lips. He pressed them together to stop anymore from coming up, he started shaking and oh his chest was hurting so much. He didn't want to laugh, he knew he shouldn't be laughing but the she struggled it was like watching a magikarp floundering haphazardly. Skye couldn't take it anymore, he hunched over and covered his chest and face with his hands. He couldn't hold back and released these strangled noises that had culminating inside his chest, it sounded like a mix between gasping laughter and crying. Which he was doing right now, he was literally crying now though she could not see but tears were definitely rolling down his face behind the mask. He could see that she was becoming frustrated, looking back up to him on the verge of throwing one of the hugest tantrums he'd ever witness. The moment she had turned he immediately stood straight and coughed to hide any giggles that remained in his system. She was giving up, thankfully but now she was asking for a ladder of some sort. Did she not understand the severe situation she was in? Skye shook his head, crossing his arms and looked down at the shorter girl. “I don't think you understand, what we're standing in is not just a regular hole. This is a sinkhole and it is bound to close up soon.”
As he said this he turned so that his back was facing her and he crouched down so that his back was actually facing her. “Listen, there's no time to go back up there to find a ladder, just climb on my back and I'll get us out of here okay?”
There was a sudden urgency in his voice, he hoped she'd understand right away and hurry. He would like to see tomorrow thank you very much. If she didn't hurry up he was liable to throw her over his shoulder and quickly hike up the side of the wall like some kind of monkey. Harper Haile

Harper paused for a moment and tried to weigh her options. Being carried made her feel… It was just funny, okay? She was fine with being seen as a kid. Whatever. As an adult she had to be realistic with her expectations of society. Right? But she totally thought she proved she was adult with her actions. Being carried was… Reminded her of all the time Papa thought it was so funny to do it. Harper rocked back and forth a moment and glanced around the sinkhole, starting to feel panicky about the mysterious strangers warnings. As she did so a hard rock and the ground she was standing under shifted slightly under her feet. That’s all it was, but in her mind she suddenly was so everything was falling apart around them. No no no. She squealed and practically lept on for her piggy back, clinging tightly. “HELP! Help-help-help! Go-go-go!” she squealed. She felt herself kick a teensy bit at his side, like she was telling him to mush or gidde-yup, but stopped herself quickly. Just tucked nicely away in the bag, Togepi thought that Harper’s frightened noises sounded pretty funny actually, and was making all sorts of happy baby coos. It shifted around in Harper’s bag, only to rub it’s shell against something hard. Bleh. It tossed the offended hard thing out of the bag and back down the hole. The little coin purse landing on the ground without much sound. ‘Sure, sure. At least you’re having fun.’ Harper thought about the loud baby sounds, her expression looking defeated for a moment and she mushed her face near his shoulder… only to feel a serious chill run down her spine and felt herself get a bit cold and clammy. M-M-M-Mask. She was so close to the mask… w-why did that scare her? But it was right there. Oh no. It was right there.

What Skye expected was a slight shift of weight on his back, what he got was this scaredy cat of a child all but throwing herself on his back. Nearly choking him with her iron grip and kicking his sides as if he was some kind of sled dog. “Ow! Easy, we'll get out of here just calm down.” He stood up and made sure her weight was distributed evenly behind him before attempting to climb back out of the hole. Skye grabbed the rope and began hoisting himself up the side, he could hear the togepi cackling up a storm in the girl's bag. Apparently it was taking joy in its owner's panic which caused him to chortle a bit. Very quickly Skye was able to reach the top and pulled himself out, he dragged the rope with him and made his way to the tree he used. When they were away from the sinkhole, he set the girl down. “There. Now then, what were you doing out here? This place should be condemned, the ground here is too soft and sinkholes like that one open up under unsuspecting people get swallowed in.” Of course, there was the matter of what he was doing here. “And before you ask, I'm out here because I was doing an investigation.” He can't really tell her about his spirit sensing powers and the entity that lived here otherwise people would never leave. “There were rumors going on about people disappearing in this area. Based on my evidence, I can confirm the disappearances are tied to the sinkholes. Because the ground here is so unstable even your weight was able to cause the ground to open up. Sometimes they open up on their own too.” He didn't want to bore her with specifics, waiting out here for days and hours of recordings showing just what he said wasn't anything an 8 year old girl would be interested in. “In any case, I was going to leave my evidence with whoever owns this place to get this place closed off to the public. If my information is correct, a lot of people here have been swallowed up already…” The vision of the other little girl being swallowed up by the sinkhole was enough for him to realize that must've been a graveyard of sorts under there. Perhaps one day they will figure out how to harden the ground there and prevent this from happening ever again. “Okay, now that you're safe you can run along home now.” The faster she's out of here the closer he is to getting the biggest burrito he can find in this town. She could almost kiss the ground when they got up. Phew. Phew. Phew. She would be a lot more relieved if she wasn’t pretty sure that every step could lead back into the waiting… stomach… or something. She wasn’t sure why she was imagining the sinkholes like some sort monster stomach. It wasn’t a comforting thought though. “I’m investigating too!” she said, matter of factly. After sparing a moment to check on Togepi she pulled out a small notebook. It had a pretty cute Pikachu design on the cover! She pulled it out and flipped a few pages, and turned it over. She cleared her throat with a balled fist and then read out loud, in a very “storyteller” tone. “He’s been stalking around the place, muttering to himself!” “He’s always looking at the holes, maybe he’s looking for his victims?!” “He has a scary mask and funny blue hair! Do you think he’s a ghost that haunts the park? Like some Yamask or something? A girl died there once, maybe he’s possessed!” She slapped the book shut. “Investigating you!” she said… pointing an accusatory finger at him… and then eased off quickly and blushed. “I guess you did save me though… so I guess it was a dead end…” A nervous cough. “Thanks, I guess. Sorry for… um.. being a little scared." She felt pretty embarrassed by it. But she wasn’t done. Although she was nowhere near a vantage to able to see his notes, she moved over and stretched out her arm towards. “You’re a paranormal investigator too? Are you a part of UPIN too? You should share your notes with me, kid!” She gave a confident smirk. With her father gone she pretty much was the authority on this stuff, so it was only fair.

Skye tilted his head, she was...investigating him? Was she playing pretend? Even if that was the case it's still too dangerous to be running around here. Before he could say anything else, the small girl pulled a notepad from her bag. She then began to read whatever was transcribe into the book. Apparently the townsfolk saw him while he was investigating and mistook him for some kind masked psycho killer. OH! The kids! They shouted that at him when the ran screaming like babies, perhaps she was just playing a game with them. "You know, people shouldn't judge things by their cover. Someone who looks like you can actually be someone harful to you. And someone who looks strange, might not be as bad you thought they were. But, you're welcome."Okay, he said he was investigating rumors, where in his explanation did he say that he was a paranormal investigator. Although technically speaking in a way he was one wasn't he? But he has no idea what this UPIN was, he would have to assume either it was something she made up or an actual thing like a paranormal club or something. Kid? Kid!? Did this eight year old just call him a kid? Did her whole 4 foot 11 inch self really just said that? He was confused, was he actually dreaming? He held up his notes higher so that she could no longer even attempt to gander at them. He squinted his eyes at her and shook his head. "I never said I was a paranormal investigator, just looking into happenings and finding a logical explanation." Logical for him at least, if something strange was happening it was usually paranormal related and therefore an entity was behind it. "Never heard of UPIN, what is that? Your little paranormal club with the other kids? Look, fun's over. Go home, your parents are probably worried about you. You and friends should probably not come back here anymore. There's nothing paranormal here, just a bunch soft ground that's burying people alive." He began to try and shoo her away, once she was gone he could gather his evidence and head into town for that burrito. Harper Haile

Harper had tried to speak a little after his little speech about not judging people based on their cover. Her own hypocrisy definitely hit her hard. Especially since even though she knew it was wrong, her first instinct was to defend herself. She had heard stories about him. She wasn’t judging based on his cover, he totally had just matched a profile. But even when he was kind to her, she had still been frightened by the mask. Even when he was in the process of saving her life, she felt a little distrustful because of it. She felt rotten. Like something at her core was wrong. But then he… said those things. She puffed herself up to the full “muster” a four foot and no-inches girl could possibly manage for a moment. At first she thought the thing she was upset about was being treated like some kid… but defending that was not the first thing that came out of her mouth. “It’s not a little dumb club! It’s not a game! It’s Papa’s dream!” she felt her insides heat up, it felt like there was bubbling hot lava in her stomach. The small pacifist even balling her fist a little, the tension just making her limbs want to curl up. She always got like this, any time people laughed in his face. It was one of the few things that could make her want to stand up for herself… even if it wasn’t actually for herself. “UPIN is… it’s…” She felt her heart skipping a few beats, tears building up in her eyes. “It’s a serious place where people go to be heard. Never be sure you know everything, always keep an open-mind… that’s what it stands for.. It’s… She looked as if she was aching with the last words, forcing them out… but then all her tension just vanished. Her balled fist, clenched around the notepad went limp. The notepad hit the ground… reality hitting her. She had wasted her entire evening on just a bunch of tall tales she had collected from kids. “It’s not a game…” She wanted to sob for him, but she had been doing it too much lately. She felt dry. Very little actually came out. The next words she spoke sounded so monotone, no longer meeting his gaze. “I’ll be sure to set the record straight about you. I just wanted to look into the reports posted on the site. However, I cannot go home. Not until I find my father… I apologize...“ She bowed her head respectfully, finding it easier to look at the floor. Her vision was so obscured anyway.

It was clear what he had said made her upset, but what she was mad about wasn't what he expected. She was more upset about him shrugging off the paranormal club or whatever the hell it was. It's her father's dream huh? Now he was feeling bad, a place where people can go to be heard huh? It sounded nice, if it was real but he wasn't sure. Now she seemed so crestfallen, the notepad dropped from her hands. It wasn't a game, not to her. Her father was missing? Now it makes a little sense. She misses her dad obviously, maybe he was a paranormal investigator? He wasn't sure how serious the man was but he can tell was that this girl was really close to her father. It kind of reminded him of his family, his parents that were gone forever but hers might still be out there. He sighed, man he was kind of being a jerk wasn't he? He knew the paranormal was real so to deny her the legitimacy of her father's group, the part of him that she has left. That was really cruel wasn't it? He placed a hand on top of her head. "Hey," he said softly, trying to comfort her. "I'm sorry, I didn't know."What could he do to make it up to her? Try and help her find her father? Ridiculous, that would seem impossible. Unless, if he was truly an agent in paranormal occurances....did that mean he had the same ability as Skye did? If he did, maybe he could locate him. It would be difficult since he had not mastered his ability yet but he could try. "What happened to your father? Did he see things that no one else could? When was the last time you saw him?"If she could give him any information that would be great, and then based on that he could see if he could help her. It was the least he could do, also she needed to go home. Her mother might be missing her. Harper Haile

Harper had expected him to make a quick escape, to be honest. So when he suddenly started patting her on the head, she nearly jumped. The comforting gesture did seem to work on her though after that moment, the shaking and sadness that had been building up stopping and then seeming to melt away after a few moments..
“Um..” she started, taking some big post-cry sniffles. It was really embarrassing to cry. It was one of the things Harper knew people saw as childish, and she felt now that she had even more effort ahead of her to get this person to take guy seriously.
“Well.. kind of?” Harper finally looked back up at him instead of her toes. “He never was like, “Oh, I see the otherworld, your departed Pokemon are watching over youuuu” or anything silly like that, but he seemed to always know what kind of stuff was really worth looking into. The right away to go. He always said he just had his hunches. He was private a lot.”
Harper cleared her throat and then picked up her notebook and held it to her chest. “I just was his assistant.” She nodded. “But I always went with him on every case. But suddenly he took me home and told me I couldn’t go with him… and then he just disappeared. He was only ‘posed to be gone for a week or two, but I haven’t seen him in… months.” She gulped. She didn’t want to admit to herself that it had nearly been a year now.
She held out her hand. “Look um.. I’m sorry for finding your mask scary, I really am.” She said. Although she was still confused why he would run around wearing some Halloween mask if he didn't want people to think he was up to no good. “And for getting upset, I’m not normally so…” She blushed, not quite finding the right words to say. “I’m Harper. I’m…”
She put on a sort of silly face as shook away that thought. She had nearly tried to just say she was twenty four there. She had coped with the fact that many people would not believe her for some time. Why did she feel like she had to tell this person? He had some strange aura that she could not explain, that made her want him to take her more seriously than others. “So what is up with these holes then? I"m guessing they aren't the "graves of your victims" then." She chuckled a little, as if she never believed it for a moment now. "It did seem silly to be honest. I just got a little scared to fall in one myself. Honest."

He wondered if he should tell her that's not how seeing the beyond works, not saying that spirits didn't exist but you wouldn't see them as you would see ghost pokemon that's for sure. How she decribed him is how spirit sensing worked, he always had 'hunches', but that was more so being the only one that can hear voices and sense the energy from otherworldy entities. But something must've happened, he had to have seen something. It must've been pretty bad, as the girl previously stated that she used to go everywhere with him. Nonetheless, there should be a clue behind as where he went. "Hmm, interesting. Did he say what the case was about? Have you gone through his uh...office if he has one?"At this point nothing can really be done until every stone was actually unturned. The girl took this time to apologize about being afraid of his face covering. He merely shook his head. "That's alright, I know it looks very unsettling being very human looking yet expressionless."He pauses for a moment. "Although I should tell you, this is not a mask. This is a prosthetic."Granted he wasn't sure how she would take that, maybe he shouldn't have said anythng but it was weird. This girl she looked like any eight year old he's ever seen but something about her wasn't right. Her mannerism did seem childlike in nature but not in a way was ignorant like a child's. He didn't give away too much and it was just enough to get the gist, so that should've been fine. "Anyways, nice to meet you Harper."He pulled down his note book to read through his notes. "Well you might not be wrong about this being a gravesite, this land here is very soft. Usually just because of the mineral composition. I managed to get some of the dirt here and had it tested. It's about 85% gypsum. Gypsum is a really soft mineral so this land here isn't safe for people to be on, especially when it rains."He flipped through a couple more notes and thumbed a particular piece he jotted down. "There's a good number of people who have vanished that headed off in this direction. I got some copies of old police records,"Which he totally got LEGALLY! They're old and unsolved so it wasn't difficult for the boy to get ahold of. "A consistancy to note is that in most cases it had been raining on the day of or before the the person had disappeared. The rain makes the already soft ground extra soft, even quicksand like. If someone got stuck as it rained, they'd be swallowed up really quickly. I think its for the best that this area be condemned for the safety of the townspeople."Harper Haile

Prosthetic? To be perfectly honest. That was a word Harper had to think on for a moment. Not for very long, mind. She was an adult after all and totally well learned, she just had to kind of process it. As soon as she did thought her mind started bursting with thoughts. “A p-prosthetic?” She gasped a little, unable to hold that back fully. Her hands moving to her cheeks and rubbing them. “That’s n-not.. I mean.. I’m sorry!” she bowed, feeling more embarrassment. She couldn’t believe it! Surely there could have been something better for him? Still, she did understand what it was like to be judged based on appearances, although her pudgy adolescent body very nice by comparison. She couldn’t even guess the frustration that he dealt with. She felt frustrated and angry at the children who had been spreading tall tales about him now. She tried to change the conversation to business. Feelings weren’t the easiest things for her to deal with, and for the first time in a while her mind was starting to get excited about work. Plus she didn’t know how else to repay his kindness. Harper put her hands to her under her lip, resting on her chin, and tilted her head. “Hmm..” she thought about that word. Gypsum. It sounded like gypsy, so much so that Harper sort of forgot that wasn’t part of what she had heard. It was a funny sounding word. Surely there must be something mysterious going on with such a mysterious sounding word. “Hmm.. do you think that maybe.. no.. “ she was still hard at work with her thinking. “Maybe the gyspysum in the ground is because of some Pokemon?” She finally stopped gazing off into some sort of unknown direction and moved closer to her companion, by sheer force of will not bothered by his presence at all anymore. No. He was a colleague, and talking about this made her feel.. Excited. “Maybe this is like some sort of testing site? For some sort of larger purpose? Directing ground type Pokemon to change the composition of the dirt?” Her grin was large. She was totally onto this. She had somewhat conveniently forgotten the chunk that implied this was not some sort of recent affair. “What kind of Pokemon could do? What for? Huh? What’s next? Maybe making the ground soft under important buildings?” She gasped. “Or the tower!?” Maybe we should tell the news!” She… looked up at her companion with the same eyes that always looked to Papa for her next step.
