The day was finally here. The one that Josh had been waiting for, for such a long time.
No.
The day they had been waiting for.
There was no I now. It was they now, and after today it always would be. Today was the day that Izumi took his last name, and they truly became what they'd always been from the day they'd met.
A team.
It was going to be... Interesting, remembering to call Izumi by a new last name. Izumi Dragomir, it fit her, he thought, in a weird, but cool kind of way. Almost like this had always been meant. Honestly, the more he thought about it, the more he thought about their history, how they met, every moment they'd spent together since... Perhaps it always had been meant to be. All these years, all this time... All of it now seemed like it had been leading up to this day, this event... This moment.
The day they would be married.
Josh hadn't planned on a big wedding, or even to use a large chapel. But Izumi had fallen in love with the large chapel in Caravalla, that wasn't far from their ranch. It seemed like the perfect place for them to do this, near to the comforts of home in a city that had become a second home of sorts to the both of them. Now, here he was. In the church, in Caravalla, the bleachers had been filled with those they'd invited, people they had met over the years... Both their families who had come from other regions entirely to see this... They'd come to see a wedding. They couldn't disappoint, could they?
Josh could admit to one disappointment though. There had been a man who he'd wanted to ask to be his best man at the wedding. Unfortunately, that was no longer possible. They had disappeared as suddenly as they had come. Losing his best friend had been a tough blow for him, but today would be about one thing... And that would be turning the page to a new chapter of his life. To both their lives. Perhaps it wasn't wise to look back so much. Perhaps it was better to focus on the now. Better to focus on the woman who was almost singlehandedly responsible for helping him get his life on track when his schedule was a mess and he was driving himself into the ground. The woman he was now about to marry.
Funnily enough, it was really just a formality at this point. The two had more or less been married for a few years now, by how they were at home, how their relationship had been. But now he was putting a ring on it, and promising her forever. For real, this time.
In place of the Pichu Trainer who'd been his original plan, his best man was now... A Pikachu.
I mean, Lightning was basically his best friend. And his partner, as far as Trainer and Pokemon go. Almost like his little brother. He suited fine, and I do mean suited fine as in the Pikachu stood in the line of groomsmen with a little tuxedo on. He looked very dapper.
As for Josh, it was time. As nervous as he was, he did his best to put on a brave face - tried his best to be confident for the woman who had done heaps in instilling confidence in him over the years. Dressed in a black suit, he would walk down the aisle, and once he reached the end, he would adjust his tie as he would turn to wait for his fiance to join him.
