Heeheehee, hopefully that should inspire something of a reuinion~ Giggling lightly as she tapped the ‘send’ button that her holographic phone had projected into the air, with a smirk Sophie Sequoia sent a playful little message to a certain seafaring soul she hoped was in the area for the day. Opting to take a little moment from her day to send a text to a friend who she hadn’t seen in far too long, after looking over her words with a grin, the pink haired girl gave a short sigh and looked around her surroundings.
I wonder if there’s ever been any initiatives to reclaim this lot? Raising her brow slightly as she took in the sight of some old factories that were surrounded by dirty water and decorated with seaweed, as a non-native Sophie couldn’t really understand why they’d opted to build a now town rather than make an effort to restore what was lost? Certainly some better flood defences and the aid of a decent team of water, ground and grass types to clear out the damage and this old city could have been put right? But it wasn’t. Miss Sequoia found that odd, and made a note to look a little deeper into the matter when she had a chance. For now though, she had some exploring to do.

“Hnuah!” Gasping as a pint sized bandit lurched out with a lashing claw, Sophie Sequoia hopped backward and was glad to find that her reflexes were quick enough to avoid any harm above a tear to the trousers she wore. The loose set of field gear being sliced through but no sign of a blood or a wound beneath the layer as the pink haired girl ducked down and checked on the ‘injury’, after a moment she tossed a ball forward on instinct to deal with a ‘customer’ who clearly didn’t want a diplomatic approach.
“Let’s see how a thug deals with you, Shampoo!” Unleashing a fighter who gave a short and sharp sounding cry as she hopped into the air, the femme called upon a nimble bodied but hot blooded ferret in order to get the batter of the factory ‘guard’ she had found. Meinfoo the agile sort who were always up to the challenge, Sophie hoped that her partners spry body might help her avoid too much danger in the fight that was to come, and knew she had a trick or two even if she did.
That’s it, such crude offense can’t keep up with you… Sophie easing backward as she watched her warrior weave around the swiping motions of her enemy, the instincts that these small but natural born martial artists possessed more than made up for the difference in size and sharpness of their claws. Or so Miss Sequoia thought. The helmeted bandit suddenly showing it also was not to be judged at face value, rather than become frustrated with its lack of success, it showed a little more cunning.
“Looks like there’s a little more to this one than meets the eye!” Launching into a feint swipe then following up with a second as it faked out the ferret femme, Shampoo gave a shrill cry as she found her shoulder being slashed by the steely claws that their enemy possessed, having been unexpectedly outmanoeuvred by a warrior with more wit than either girl had expected. Sophie wincing in turn and calling out to her warrior weasel as she saw blood trip from the injury, it seemed a change in tactics was in order, and Sophie knew just how to overturn this particular disadvantage.
“Hit it with a Drain Punch to even the score, Shampoo!” Deciding that if grace and agility were a tactic that weren’t proving a success to go for a little mix of muscle and magic, with a snap of her hand Miss Sequoia called for a different approach from her Mienfoo. The small sized but big spirited fighter nodding with a grunt at the order, after hopping backward and taking a breath, she showed that even the steely armour of their adversary was no match for her fighting prowess. Lunging forward with a paw that was coated in a mystical green aura, with an arm like a battering ram the not so dainty partner of the professor slammed her foe into the nearest surface with everything she had, and took what the Pawniard could offer too.
That should cure some of your ills… The energy that Shampoo had weaved into the attack seeming to flow into their foe before being tugged back by the mistress of martial arts, with a little bit of mysticism the lady of battle drew out some of the vigour that their enemy possessed and left them as a heap on the ground. Absorbing the vitality of the villain she faced and using it to heal the injuries she had suffered, with a short nod the Mienfoo dusted herself off and marched back to Sophie confidently, as her trainer launched a Pokéball toward the beaten bandit, Miss Sequoia reasoning that Arcadia’s security division might be able to put it to better use than the wilds…

“Bzzzzzzzupadurrrrrr!”
Goodness, if I had brought along Terella, I might have been able to reason with it? Sounds that she could not discern being spat at her by a rather agitated looking iron orb, Miss Sequoia silently lamented that her choice of survey party didn’t include her Magnezone, suspecting it would effortlessly be able to communicate with its less evolved form. Confronted by what she had to assume was a Pokémon that had been drawn here because of the old equipment, Sophie found it something of a shame that she was forced to confront a being that for all intents and purposes she found rather cute? Practically a staple for the scientist type and endearing in its own clumsy way, the professor had long had a bit of a soft spot for these mechanical marvels, hence why she had once possessed one of her own. It was sad to think she had to attack a spiritual brother of her lil UFO, but as the ‘local’ began to spit shrapnel-filled bursts, she couldn’t help but meet its might with much of the same.
“It might seem counterintuitive to heat it up even more, but this is up to you, Cinder!” Snapping an arm across herself to let free a fiery fighter she knew would have an edge against this metal marauder, in a flash of light something small with a pointy snout was left growling on the ground, warning against any further harm against her trainer. The language barrier between Pokémon species differing between breeds, while animal and mineral examples likely had more problems in understanding one another, it seemed the Magnemite got the message loud and clear. Either that or the ornery orb wanting something else to shoot at, after responding to the growl with a low buzz of its own, the steely resident began sending shrapnel blasts at Sophie’s Cyndaquil as well.
“Looks like a Flash Cannon, it will hurt if you get hit, Cinder!” The professor quickly sizing up the offensive action of the orb thanks to the experience she had with her own example and the attacks she had already seen, she shot a quick warning to her fiery femme, which she quickly heeded. Using her small size to her advantage as she hopped around the barrage of blasts that the hovering ball unleashed, Sophie smirked as her partner got the chance to show off a little bit, but found herself a little too ‘into’ the action.
“W-What?” Gasping as the Magnemite suddenly returned its attention to her, the girl was left a step behind as it decided to shoot an attack at her and not her Pokémon, either out of frustration or something more calculating. Miss Sequoia’s eyes growing wide as she stared down what looked to be the barrel of a gun, time slowed down for the professor as the hairs stood up on the back of her neck, pulling up her arms on instinct and hearing a shot echo out through the factory in which they stood.
“Guh!” Arms covering her face but still the wind knocked out of her sails as something heavy plunged into the belly of the blue eyed beauty, Sophie was sent tumbling back onto her behind, but as she gasped immediately plunged her hands down to her stomach to see how badly she had been hurt. C-Cinder, you… Finding not shards of shrapnel stuck in her belly but rather something small quivering in her lap, the woozy woman looked down to discover her own Pokémon trembling as a dozen or more pieces of jagged metal stuck into her body like loose nails.
R-Ruthlessly efficient… Blinking for a moment before realizing that the plucky little Cyndaquil had launched herself into the path of the attack, as her shrew-like ally pulled herself back to her feet with wobbling legs, Miss Sequoia couldn’t help but glare wrathfully at the enemy that had inflicted this hurt upon her. Usually wild Pokémon tending to leave trainers alone whilst they battled their tame protectors, there was a cruel sense of calculation in what the Magnemite had done, and it made the pit of Sophie’s stomach feel ice cold.
The pink haired girl left so astonished and angry at what had happened that she was speechless, while she was unsure of whether she should let her woozy partner continue the fight after that despicable attack, Cinder seemed unswayable in her resolve. The back of the usually gentle creature suddenly exploding with fire as she too seemed to feel the wicked grasp of wrath coercing her actions, without even a command Sophie’s Cyndaquil sent a surge of flames shooting forward from her mouth. Howling like a wild animal as she sent a wake of flames forward that were like a torrent, as the Magnemite tried to slip out of the way of the attack, she simply turned her head and sprayed the area with fiery fury, trapping the tactician and not letting up until it was left bleating miserably on the ground.
“G-Great, Cinder… Though I think this one might have a screw loose or something?” Sophie finally breaking her silence as their fallen enemy whimpered mechanically on the ground, after petting the head of her partner, the professor pulled herself to her feet and pulled two things from her pockets. “I think we may need to have the lab look at it, I don’t like the idea of this kind of attitude becoming widespread?” Shaking her head as she tossed a Pokéball toward their enemy with a frown, she then lifted up a small vial of healing balm as she ducked back down next to her wounded friend, intent on treating those injuries before she took another step…

It’s all go today it seems… Wiping her brow as the warm, coastal sun beat down on top of her, Sophie Sequoia found herself confronted this time by not a lone challenger this time, but rather a tag team. A strange duo of a trunk wielding Timburr and Petilil appearing before her, whilst the former seemed the more aggressive party in the pairing, she knew she couldn’t easily slip away with two pairs of eyes watching and was forced into yet another battle.
“Esper, let’s hit them for six before they know what happened! Dazzling Gleam!” Opting to forego the traditional ethic of having a duelling duo and rely more on the blistering pace and potent abilities of her Kadabra, the ball that contained her Psychic Pokémon had barely left Sophie’s before she was shouting out orders on how to proceed in the battle. Lucky she had a quick study to count on.
“Harummm!” The moustachioed mentalist grunting in assent as he hopped onto the ground and immediately launched into an attack, after closing his eyes and lightly pressing that ever present spoon in his hand to the star on his forehead, Esper began to build up what had practically become his signature move. Employing a fairy force though which he had quickly quelled squads of enemies before by exploiting a bright blast of lunar light, as a radiant glow scorched their opponents, Miss Sequoia was relieved to see one of them falling to the floor.
Not quite as tough as you thought, are you? The burly bodied bruiser the first to flop over to the force that Esper could wield, while Sophie could have predicted this easily from its weakness to her Kadabra’s typing, it was still somewhat satisfying to see the fighter slump against the trunk it held before slipping down to the ground. Overwhelmed by a power it was weak to, it was rather incredible to witness the robust Pokemon droop while its seemingly more delicate friend simply winced. Battles were weird.
The Petilil seeming far more interested in a fight once it had witnessed the trouncing of its ally, with a sharp scream the little lady sent out a green javelin of energy in response to the attack. A tendril made of aura stabbing into the shoulder of Miss Sequoia’s partner and sapping his energy away like a drinking straw, while Esper was able to shrug away the connection, Sophie knew that this fight was not going to continue as speedily as the first round might have implied. The bulb able to restore some of the damage that was done to her with the attacks she launched, this was likely to become a contest of attrition if the Petilil had its way, and that was not something a Kadabra tended to specialize in.
“Esper, hit it with Psyshock!” Sophie instead electing to hit her foe with the strongest move her partner could call upon, whilst it seemed a little on the brutal side to subject an ordinarily sweet Pokémon to such a severe attack, she didn’t wish to make the battle last longer than it had to. Esper nodding at the instruction he was given, after using the spoon he carried like a wand to focus his mind once more, with a gruff yell that came from his mouthless snout, the magnificent mentalist unleashed a ball of potent psychic force. A swirling mass of colours that mixed together pink, purple, blue and white unleashed like a fluid cannonball, the brilliant bubble shot across the area that separated the two Pokémon and slammed into the bulb with a result that took a moment to be revealed.
“Excellent work as always, Esper…” The Petilil shaken to its very core by the blast it had received before being sent bouncing backward, it was left in a heap on the ground not too far from the already fallen Timburr and made an easy target for the pink haired professor. Unleashing a twin pair of fresh traps toward the unlikely duo in order to make them both her own, Sophie found herself curious to see just how the relationship between two rather different Pokémon might affect their development? After all, uncommon pairings tended to bring about rather astounding results…

I’m not sure this is a simple case of dirty water… The back of her hand lifted over her face to try and hold back some of the stench that filled the air, with a grimace Miss Sequoia found herself confronted by not a puddle but rather what seemed to be a pond of sewage. A fetid mass of foul coloured and even fouler smelling liquid in front of her, she glanced from side to side to try and figure out a path past the obstacle, but before she could decide on anything something burst out of the putrid pool, startling her.
Is it a Grimer? No, Gulpin… Frowning even further after hopping back to avoid the splash of sludge that this slimy swimmer gave off as it emerged from the poisonous pond, Miss Sequoia took a moment to guess the identity of this lurking Pokemon, but recognised it quickly once she spotted that familiar pair of pouting lips at the front of the creature. Forced to retreat even more as the blob like being groaned and then let out even more of the gunk that was staining the landscape, whilst Sophie was not keen on confronting such a strange and off-putting entity, the way it was slowly starting to submerge their landscape in toxic ooze was not something she could ignore. Pretty soon there’d be no path left for her to proceed.
“Let’s do this, Lyell!” Tossing a Pokéball onto some of the ‘safe’ ground nearby and unleashing a being that would have no problem getting over the toxic swamp that was being created, from the orb came the craggy form of a basketball-sized boulder, replete with a smirking grin and chunky pair of arms. Hovering a few inches or so off the ground for reasons that no researcher had provided a definitive answer for, this natural levitation that the tough stone fighter possessed was the perfect counter for the disgusting lake that the Gulpin had created.
“Poison is no problem for a tough guy like you, right?” Slipping forward with the slime passing beneath him harmlessly, Sophie’s Geodude moved toward their enemy and looked ready for a fight, which was somewhat ironic since the girl had brought him along more for his heavy lifting and ability to dig through rubble she may find. Useful regardless, he grunted happily at the compliment his trainer gave him and marched forward despite his lack of legs. It seemed, however, their enemy wasn’t about to make his path easy.
The squishy, blob-like being spotting the steady approach of Lyell and launching an attack to try and deter him, from those pursed lips game a thick globule of god knows what. A tarry toxin that was almost black in colour fired like a cannonball toward the Geodude, the comrade of Miss Sequoia was perhaps lucky that his craggy hide was far less porous than a reptile or mammal. The attack thudding against him but him simply able to shake off the majority of the sludge before continuing on, beating his fists together like hammers as he drew near to their enemy.
“Use Earthquake, Lyell!” Sophie shooting an order to her partner as he moved into battle range, she reckoned with a powerful, earth breaking attack she might be able to deal with both their target and the toxic trap it had created. The stony warrior that Miss Sequoia had summoned nodding gruffly and then lifting his chunky hands high up and locking his fingers together, with a blow that seemed like a sledgehammer, he slammed his fists at the ground and made the slime that was created splash all around him. Then the real attack happened.
“Just like pulling the plug in a bath…” The ground suddenly rumbling violently as the hit of Lyell created a sudden and powerful tremor that passed through it, the ground began to lurch and crack as the quake sped toward the oozing blob and sent it slamming backward, rupturing the earth and letting the pond of poison drain away into the ground. Whatever sewer systems that lay underneath this old factory district suddenly breached and making an instant ‘well’ in which the slimy venom could seep into, Sophie smirked as her plan came together and then took out a Pokéball. Not exactly the biggest fan of the species known as Gulpin but curious to run a test or two on a being that could live in a deadly swamp of poison with no ill effects, she launched the orb forward as she sought to claim yet another fine research specimen…

Seems that Shampoo has more than recovered the vigour she might have lost earlier! Grinning a little as she watched her fighting ferret exhibit her usual levels of exuberance in a second ‘round’ of combat, Sophie had found herself up against another miniature metal menace and elected to give Cinder a rest this time. The new foe not quite proving as merciless in its approach as the Magnemite from before, the eternally whirling gears that made up Klink spun extra hard as it took advantage of its natural gift of levitation to slip just out of reach of the Mienfoo of Miss Sequoia, making the warrior weasel hiss angrily.
“Don’t get upset, you’ll get the better of it, just be patient and wait for your chance!” Sophie offering a few words of caution and reassurance to Shampoo as the martial mink flicked her tail like a wound up cat, the battle was looking a bit like those times when a bully might hold back a child by placing their hand on their head, with the clockwork Pokémon staying just out of range of anything that the ferret fighter could offer. However, this particular Mienfoo was nothing if not determined.
“No, don’t run headlong into an attack!” The pink haired professor wincing and calling out as she saw her partner rushing forward in what she presumed was frustration because of her lack of success, to her horror she looked on as Shampoo launched herself with gusto toward a twin pair of spinning gears it aimed to use like projectiles on Sophie’s fighter. However, both the woman and the whirring combination of cogs proved they had underestimated the tenacity and creativity of Miss Sequoia’s acrobatic ally.
What in the world…? The magnificent Meinfoo sending a shiver through the spine of Sophie as she lurched into the air at the last possible second, with a rolling flip the ferret found had the opportunity to use the first of the discs that mean to make mincemeat of her as a step as she launched herself forward on her way to the second. The next seeming an easier prospect for Shampoo as she thrust herself forward and vaulted off this one two as she turned the attack into a staircase in order for her to gain those extra few feet of height, as both the trainer and her enemy looked on in astonishment, the Mink let loose one hell of a heel kick as she drew close to her target.
Foot slamming into one of the Klink’s spinning faces with all the momentum with which she had used to get herself airborne, though she groaned a little at the impact, the result was quite spectacular. Transferring every ounce of power her little body could give off, which was no small quantity given her fighting type, she sent their mechanical adversary spinning backward with considerable force.
See you next time, I guess? Tumbling rearward with such a pace that one could only see the Klink as a blur that shot off into the distance like a ball that had been clubbed with everything a grown man could muster, if Sophie had any hope of trapping this Pokémon it would seem to be in vain as the force of her fighting ferret batted the clockwork being far enough away that she couldn’t really tell just where it had landed. Shampoo proud of herself none the less, as she touched down on the ground let out a short and sharp cry of victory, any disappointment that the damsel behind her might have felt was lost to the giddiness of a hearty giggle…

“This one might be a little beyond even your levels of determination, Shampoo…” Deciding to let her Mienfoo enjoy some fresh air after her eager performance, as they were confronted by an enemy of deceptively small stature, Miss Sequoia warned away her eager ferret and lifted up her Pokéball to recall her. Grunting at the decision of her trainer but unable to deny the laser light that dragged her back into the Pokéball, with the potent psychic abilities of a Reuniclus to go up against, Sophie knew that she would be rather foolhardy to expect her partner to overturn both a disadvantage in typing and development. Fully evolved Pokémon such a rare find in the wild, especially from a three-tier progression, whilst partially amorphous entity posed little harm for the moment, the professor knew she couldn’t ignore it.
“You’re up, Mirage!” Instead opting to take at least one of those weaknesses and turn it into an equalizing advantage as she changed her partner, the form of a small and dark furred fox appeared from the orb that Sophie switched to, giving a playful little growl that reminded one of a puppy. This impishness giving an image of the Zorua that Miss Sequoia called upon that was mischievous as its nature, the frisky canine had far more bite than bark so to speak, but that didn’t mean she always wanted this to be obvious.
“Quick, hit it with a Dark Pulse before it gets its guard up!” Sophie seeking to cheekily take advantage of the fact that her target wasn’t really seeing herself or her sweet little cub as much of a threat for the moment, whilst she felt a little bit guilty for attacking a harmless creature out of the blue, she knew it best to challenge this psychic powerhouse with the element of surprise as another one of her advantages. Mirage giving a little giggle as she sensed the mischief they were about to embark upon, she skipped along the ground almost as if she were about to play some light hearted prank on the Reuniclus, but her method was anything but good natured.
Chuckling to herself girlishly as she trotted toward her target, with an almost reckless disregard for the consequences of what she did, the Zorua unleashed a cascading wave of eerie shadow from her mouth, howling with delight and a strange hint of sadism as she bombarded the Reuniclus with rings of darkness. Their target jolting and then letting out an almost disembodied yelp as it was sent spinning toward the ground, Mirage gave an almost hissing chuckle at what she had done that made even her trainer feel that little bit less comfortable.
Dark-types can be hard to stomach sometimes… Shifting her weight and tightening her hands just a touch as she looked at the grin that Mirage gained from her deed, after the Reuniclus had pulled itself back up, Sophie froze for a second as it unleashed a multi-coloured beam of light toward her giggling partner before remembering the reason she had chosen the shadowy fox to begin with. The laughter of her Zorua ebbing away as she was hit by the attack, while it made her stumble a little and shake her head, this was the only result it had. Psychic energy nullified by the nature of those born from darkness, the little fox would remain largely unphased by anything this gooey being specialized in. It was efficient, even if a little dull.
“Finish it off with Foul Play, Mirage!” A slight briskness in the tone that Miss Sequoia used as she called for an end to the encounter, whether she felt guilty for the harm she was inflicting on a largely innocent soul or was unnerved by her own partner was hard to tell, but the tolerance of the professor seemed to wear uncharacteristically thin. Mirage seeming to sense that she might have been toying with her prey just a little too much for her trainers liking, though she kept a grin the Zorua looked a little more serious as she dutifully followed the next order.
Waiting until the Reuniclus whipped an arm toward her more out of desperation than desire, as the jelly-like limb swatted at her body, all of a sudden Mirage seemed to disappear in a wispy cloud of smoke and shadow that was separated by the swipe taken by her opponent. Vanishing for but a moment before returning to the world behind their psychic adversary, with a gnashing chomp the slender snout of the dark fox shot forward as she lunged at the back of their enemy and bit them viciously.
Small wonder that few Gym Leaders favour the type, it seems innately sinister… Suddenly seeming to be out for blood as she used her sharp fangs to puncture the gooey coating of the Reuniclus and snap at the body beneath it, after flooring the amniotic enemy they faced she hopped onto the ground and used a pink tongue to lick off some of the goo that now coated her muzzle. Sophie shivering a little as she watched what had been brought onto the scene as a cute little cub now showing off the darkness that lay beneath her behaviour, after shaking her head she launched an orb toward her target and hoped she could trap it, partly because she didn’t want to see her Zorua have to hurt it even more…
