Dark Type Gym
On a bleak hill overlooking Carrefor, there lies an ominous bastion of a time long past. These black bricks make up a building symbolizing the underlying darkness, wealth and corruption that infects the history of Carrefor. Previously belonging to a set of excessively wealthy traders, this building has since been lost to time. Plenty have rumors have circulated around the denizens, ranging from accusations of having elaborate torture dungeons, horrific human experimentation and plenty of dead bodies to stink the place up. Despite these rumors, some say the castle is also a bastion to the finer things in life, such as knowledge, art and philosophy. Nowadays, the castle serves as the home of the enigmatic Countess Louise Dumas. Not much is known of her origins, leading her to be just as dangerous as the castle that she is housed in. All that is known of the Countess is that she has taken up residence in the home, is extraordinarily wealthy, is probably a vampire, and only occasionally visits Carrefor to spook the townsfolk. Dumas also serves as the Dark Type Gym Leader in Veria, so anyone seeking to complete their Gym Challenge would need to brave this castle.
The challenge begins in Carrefor Town, where the challenger would need to seek out a particular old man who offers passage up to the castle. This would be in the form of a traditional horse and carriage, where they would be briefed on the typical ways of dealing vampires without dying. Along with the warning of not touching anything in the castle. Upon arrival, the challenger would need to approach the castle on their own, and their escort would leave them. Once they enter the building, the challenger will be faced with a grand foyer. Filled with gorgeous architecture, beautiful red velvet and elegantly Gothic furniture. From this point onward, the challenger would be left completely on their own, with little to no guidance in any particular direction. They would have to make their way through the winding catacombs of the building, and facing whatever horrors they find. They say that the scent of dead bodies can never truly leave a building...
Eventually the challenger would be able to hear a familiar tune coming from the highest part of the castle. It would be coming from Louise's study, where she would be completely alone playing it on her organ. Upon first meeting the challenger, Louise would engage in a calming dialogue with the challenger, and offer them a drink. She would answer any questions that they may have, and she would make sure to make small talk about what she has been reading lately. All the while, Louise would be playing them in a brief game of chess. She would scale herself to the level of whatever opponent she faces, but she always makes sure that she wins. Unless the challenger has a reason to be better than someone who plays chess daily. The chess match mostly serves for Louise to get to know the challenger, and make small talk with them. The time would them come for the battle, which would take place in the foyer.
Louise's staff would clear the area for the them, and extinguish the candlelight for them. The fight itself would be fairly traditional by Gym Standards, allowing the challenger to choose between the options of Single Battle 3v3, Double Battle 4v4 or Single Battle 6v6. Without the candlelight, the only light that the challenger has to see is the faint moonlight coming in through the window. While the battle takes place, this would be the tune that plays. If the Challenger is successful in defeating Louise, they will be treated to more hospitality before being escorted out of the manor. In the event that they fail, they will be immediately chased out of the home by some of Louise's staff.
