Emi was beginning to regret wearing a dress today.
It was a warm dress, covering both her legs and her arms fairly well, and she had on a thick jacket on top of it... but her legs were still freezing, exposed as they were to the cold mountain air. But if that was the price she paid to stick to her aesthetic, to dress as she pleased, then so be it.
Her Pokemon were feeling the brunt of the cold as well--Palette was clearly shivering, and Manny had transformed into something with thick, coarse hair covering their entire body.
But Emi was determined to carry on her exploration of the caverns. She had heard all sorts of stories about what was contained in the mountain caverns outside Aleal, myths and legends surrounding the area abounding. All sorts of things could be found there, she had heard, so long as one was careful not to get lost or succumb to the cold.
She wouldn't go too far in, she had decided. Just enough to gather a few things and get out.
And speaking of which... it appeared that she'd found something worth keeping already.

(Claiming Moon Stone)
The stone Emi had found strewn across the cavern floor was as dark as the night sky, and yet it glittered like no other she had ever seen, sparkling clearly even in the dim light of the caverns. Emi was pretty sure it was a Moon Stone, which might well come in handy as she continued to catch and train Pokemon, but even if it wasn't, its sheer beauty alone was enough to make the stone worth keeping.
Emi wiped off what snow and ice she could to take in the stone's beauty as much as possible, then carefully tucked it into her bag.
If this was what she could find while barely having set foot in the caverns, what more could she find as she went further inside, traversed its depths to find the treasures that doubtlessly lay within?
Emi would find out part of the answer to that question shortly...

(Claiming Sail Fossil)
The fossil was just sitting there on the ground, already set apart from the stone around it. Emi wasn't sure if its separation was due to natural forces or the work of those who had come here before her, but in the end, it didn't really matter. What mattered is that the fossil was out in the open, clearly hers from the taking.
So Emi took it, after wiping it clean of ice and snow, placing it beside the Moon Stone in her bag. She hoped that the two wouldn't scratch one another.
Emi couldn't make out what kind of Pokemon was contained within the fossil she had picked up, but that didn't matter much. Whatever it was, odds were good that a scientist somewhere could revive it for her, and she would have another Pokemon companion to call her own.
And even if it couldn't be revived, it was a neat thing to find regardless.

(Claiming Water Stone)
The stone looked a little bit like a sapphire, both in its hue and in its shine. It was significantly larger than any sapphire Emi had ever encountered before, however, barely fitting in the palm of her hand. It was smoother than any of the sapphires Emi knew, too, apparently rounded by nature rather than cut and polished by human hands.
A Water Stone, without a doubt.
While Emi had nebulous ideas for how the other treasures she had thus far accumulated might be used in the future, this one she had a clear plan for. She had a Panpour now, a Pokemon that needed a stone just like this one to evolve. The way forward seemed clear enough... unless she decided to save it for later, just in case any other Pokemon she might come across would need it...
Emi placed the Water Stone in her bag, which was quickly filling up. She wouldn't be able to fit much more in there at this rate. She turned back, turned towards the cave entrance that she had entered through, ready to depart from the chill of the caverns and start another adventure. Probably somewhere warmer. Hopefully.
But before Emi left the caves, her eyes fell upon one last treasure...
Emi had found a black ribbon that stood out amidst the ice and snow of its surroundings. As she stepped closer, Emi noticed the small moon charm in the middle of the ribbon, as well as that the ribbon was slightly frayed and that ice had frozen it entirely.
As Emi warmed the ribbon with her hands and headed towards the cave entrance, she thought about how the ribbon must have ended up there. It was a clear sign that somebody else had been there before, but it was impossible to tell whether it had been there for hours, for days, or for years before her noticing it. There had been no visible footprints around the ribbon, but one icy breeze smoothing over the surroundings could have caused that. There was no telling whether the ribbon had been left there on purpose or had slipped away from its former owner without them noticing, either.
Part of Emi wondered if she should leave the ribbon where it had been, in case its previous owner came looking for it, but... the odds were against that, she knew, and the ribbon was downright adorable, and... maybe she'd end up dropping something, too, to even things out a bit.
As Emi slipped the ribbon into her bag and prepared to leave the cavern for good, she glanced back, half-expecting to see the ribbon's prior owner following in her footsteps, but saw nothing but ice and snow and darkness behind her.
