Appearance
Mason is a fair-skinned man with spiky, black hair that has grown to waist-length, with shoulder-length bangs framing the sides of his face and occasionally covering his eyes. He has several scars throughout his body from his volatile research before falling, although nothing serious. Although he has kept himself in good shape, with no need to really work out in a lab he doesn't exactly have much in the way of bulky muscle. History
Mason was born into a world vastly different from the one he is now in, one torn apart by war and in a constant state of unrest. Pokemon did not exist, and technology had advanced at a rapid pace before being turned into weapons of mass destruction that ruined the land and destroyed most large settlements. It was in this chaos that he was raised and learned to survive, using his natural intelligence to stay safe and eventually making a home for himself and his people by taking scattered technology and re purposing it.
He knew that just having somewhere to live would not be enough however, in order to prosper they needed a way to stay safe. And so he gathered the like minded people in his 'tribe', forming a plan. Life energy was already well documented and researched, much of the modern technology using or affecting it in some way, but Mason didn't want to destroy. He had seen automatons in his travels, husks of metal that moved on their own to fulfil tasks. Not wanting to risk his people it seemed the best course of action to perfect that technology.
And so they set about building their own shells, starting with simple shapes at first by creating vaguely humanoid figures out of special clay. With no reliable source of life energy themselves they visited sites of great destruction in the past, using scavenged devices to siphon the scattered energy, which Mason dubbed 'Remnant'. By 'injecting' this Remnant into the figures they were able to come to life, even if it was quite limited and they were only able to follow orders they were given. They had no sentience of their own, and while his task was completed Mason wasn't satisfied with this limited success.
He continued his experiments on his own, disbanding his team in case anyone tried to stop him. In the interest of defence still he first started with weapons, but complex ones were unable to bond with the remnant properly, leading him to the tools of the distant past. When the sword came to life it was more responsive, but not by much, and was volatile towards certain actions. Every time he tried to grab it's handle it would go out of control, slashing wildly for a time before calming down and going dormant.
Figuring that he form of the shell could cause instability, Mason's next main experiment was to create a formless shell. After a lot of trial and error he finally found a gas that the remnant reacted with, binding with it and causing the gas to make a form for the artificial life. It seemed to have the same problem as before, barely sentient but volatile, and he thought it was a lost cause until he tried modifying the remnant used to be less intense, stabilising it a little but not increasing the sentience aspect.
At the end of the road he didn't know what to do. It had taken years, with every type and shape of shell, but he couldn't perfect the process he had created. The settlement he had helped build was now the largest of the realm, supported by his creations, but he no longer cared, obsessed with his research. Just as he was about to give up on it all he had a thought, one which led to his greatest success and ultimate downfall. If Remnant came from those who were once truly alive, why would it be satisfied resting in an artificial body? And so, he started his greatest undertaking, creating life cell by cell while infusing it with large amounts of Remnant to aid in the process.
It took an entire year to get to a point where it was more than just a barely workable theory, but once it did things were amazing. The life form quickly formed into an egg stage, developing while protecting itself from outside sources. In his eagerness he didn't stop his Remnant injection, pumping the very last bit he had into the egg even as it developed.
When the egg hatched, everything went wrong. Cracks in the shell released an intense light, blinding Mason for a moment before he got used to it. As it finally broke he was unable to even see what he had created, as it seemed to radiate an unnatural energy that tore at the very space it occupied. He passed out at the exposure to the energy, and that was the last time he saw his true home, waking up in the region of Veria with his creations by his side. His husks were just as they had been, barely able to be called alive, but something he had never seen but seemed familiar with some kind of device on it's head. He noticed he could see something strange about them, like he could see some kind of energy inside or around half of them, and realised he was seeing their Remnant. For some reason he couldn't sense the energy in two of his creations, despite them still moving and such.
He quickly realised he was in another world after making his way to the nearest town, as well as realising something off about said world. Creatures much like his own creations ran about freely, in great numbers, and from what he could gather without raising suspicion this was a natural occurrence. This caused him to get angry, his research that had taken half of his life now meant effectively nothing, but the main problem was that nobody seemed to realise just how dangerous this was. While some, even most of the beasts were barely dangerous to a child, as he learned more he realised just how easily thy could be turned into living weapons just as powerful as the ones that had ruined his home.
He started to plan on how to fix this issue, know that people will always take power once they realise it is there, but had no way of knowing how to do so. He attempted to use his research to create more shells to assist him, but he was unable to harvest any remnant whatsoever no matter what he tried, and try as he might he couldn't find another power source that would work as well. Something was different, he couldn't use his science in this world for some reason, so he would have to find another solution.

Aura Sight - Minor
Minor Aura Sight grants the user the capacity to see the world from a more out of body perspective, being able to see around corners, through walls, and with their eyes closed with a low but discernible degree of detail. The greater the obstacles between a person and their target, the hazier things become, with human sized Pokémon potentially being mistaken for humans and vice versa. A Minor can strain for a short time to see about 50% farther with their Aura Sight than they can see normally (or than an average person could see if the user is blind). Additionally, a Minor's vision has become acute enough to notice distinct patterns or color combinations in a person's Aura. As such, they could easily recognize close friends or family from aura alone, though recognizing people with which one is less familiar can still be challenging, and auras with similar qualities may be impossible to tell apart.
Aura Channeling - Minor
A Channeling Minor can project an invisible field of aura (or visible if they choose to combine it with Projection, though having both doesn't necessitate visibllity) in order to give of an overall positive/calming vibe or a negative/unnerving one. These feelings are very subtle, but just enough to add or take off a bit of edge in many situations. This aura is not expended, merely extended out from one's body in roughly a 10 foot (3 meter) radius.
Other Information
A gifted scientist, once having unlocked the secrets to creating life, although the process seems not to work in this new world.

Stirring from her sleep, Alix fell out of her bed and stumbled towards the window. The light streaming in was bright enough to hurt her barely awakened eyes, and so she pulled her blinds closed to shield her. From there, she slowly got ready for the day, staying in the shower for half an hour before exiting and getting dressed. Running downstairs, she saw her mother passed out on the couch, apparently having drunk herself to sleep. Not caring enough to wake her up, Alix simply left, locking the door behind her.
Still feeling tired, she decided to go grab a coffee before figuring out whatever she was going to do for the day. She walked to a small, nearby coffee shop, and 10 minutes later walked out, coffee in hand as she walked to a park close by. She sat down at a bench and started sipping, watching as the few people who were out and about without going off to work or school went about their activities. As tired as she was, it was actually decently entertaining, as people jogged past, children played, and a small group of elderly people exercised together.
All through this Alix was thinking about what she would do to keep from getting bored, but was simply coming up blank.
