Appearance
Slightly stouter than average at only 5’1” (1.55m), Lucie is a chubby little thing with wide eyes and soft edges. Her black hair is slightly past her shoulders, and is usually kept up and out of her face in a ponytail or with a bandana. When working she wears an apron and gloves to keep from contaminating wounds and from getting blood on herself, and beneath the apron usually sports comfortable but resilient jeans (sometimes jean shorts because they’re easy to wear) and a nice t-shirt. She has green eyes and a light spread of freckles on her cheeks. Her fingers and arms have a few scratches and faded burn marks on them from raising half of her team since a young age, but asides from them she is mark free.
Personality
Positive:
- Cheerful
Lucie can be usually found with a smile on her face, pushing through the worst of situations as best she can. She likes to be happy and to help other be happy as well. It's nearly infectious and can sometimes be annoying, but at the very least, it helps her project a good bed-side manner to her patients. - Brave
When your job is treating wild Pokemon with a wide variety of injuries, any of whom may be scared or furious enough to swipe at anyone approaching, then you need to be either a little brave, or a little insane. Lucie is the former. Really. - Diligent
It's not easy going through medical school! Lucie keeps her schedule well so she can take care of as many Pokemon that need her as she can help, and does her damnedest to not miss any important details. Even the smallest mistake can cause a Pokemon pain. She can't afford to make any.
Negative:
- Over-Emotional
Partially from her Empathy, partially just who she is by nature; when Lucie is sad, angry, or scared, she doesn't just feel those feelings--she FEELS them. She cries at the drop of a hat even when she's happy, and when something manages to make her angry that fire doesn't go out for a long, long time. - Self-Sacrificing
Who needs sleep when Pokemon need help? Okay, she isn't that bad. If she were her work would suffer. But on the same note as her bravery, Lucie has very little care for her own skin when she's trying to help a wounded Pokemon. At least this flaw hasn't done her any serious harm...yet. - Anxious
For as cheerful as Lucie is, and as emotional as she can be, at the end of the day she is often so filled with stress over her choices that she can hardly sleep. Could she have helped that Pokemon more? Was the something she could have done better? Is she really doing good? Thankfully, she has her Musharna to eat the bad dreams that come with her stress, but it's still there, lingering, unabated.
History
Lucie was born in the spring in the sea-side city of Coumarine, bordering the sea and the Kalos region. The daughter of a Coordinator mother and a fisherman father she grew up with two varying sides of the Pokemon world. She saw the side of contests and fashion, of television appearances and her mother’s well-groomed Furfrous, but also the hard work that her father’s Whiscash and Tentacool put in to gathering rarities from the ocean. She adored spending time with both dad on his boat and mom in Lumiose City, and through her life grew up with a love of hard-working Pokemon.
At age eleven Lucie was sent an egg by one of her uncles who bred feline Pokemon, and after a few walks around the town, the egg hatched into a little Litleo. Lucie named her Cinnamon. The two were absolutely inseparable. Cinnamon followed her new trainer around the house, rested in her shoulders while she did homework, warmed her on cold nights on the beach, and was never out of arm’s reach when Lucie needed a friend to hold close. She even went with her to school--with her teacher’s permission, of course. Once they felt ready the two began battling to train Cinnamon up for her evolution. Three years and a number of trial-and-error battles against her classmates and the ocean’s many water Pokemon (a stupid decision in hindsight) later, Cinnamon evolved into a gorgeous Pyroar.
Although she was unable to sit on Lucie’s back anymore, or follow her around the school without taking up too much space in the halls, Cinnamon was still Lucie’s very best friend. They still slept besides one another, are together, and continued battling whatever Pokemon they could find.
Wandering around route 13 one broiling hot summer day, Lucie came across a Pokemon she had never seen before. It was a Maractus, bouncing and weaving along with the gusts of sand and wind that ripped over the land. She quickly sent out Cinnamon to battle it, and with both a type and level advantage, she managed to capture Maractus with ease. The result was Prickly Pear--usually just called “Pear”--a playful, slightly mischievous male with a bad habit of trying to hug others with his spike-covered arms. Lucie had to often wear long-sleeved shirts to avoid getting covered in scratches while training him. Despite this, Pear was a hard worker, and had a love for battle that Cinnamon didn’t, and so he rose up to her level quickly. While he was not as close as Cinnamon and Lucie were, Lucie still loved Pear and his silly antics and spikey hugs, and would make sure to have him out with her on hot, sunny days.
Years passed after Lucie caught Prickly Pear without much activity on the Pokemon and battling front. She was starting to consider what she wanted to be as an adult, and although she loved Kalos and loved her Pokemon, she chose against going for the League and, instead, enrolled into a medical college at age eighteen. She decided that rather than fighting and battling, she would focus on healing and helping those who wanted to follow that path. Originally she was dreaming of working at a Pokemon Center. Having her very own Chansey or Audino, helping countless trainers...it was a lovely idea, but she also wanted somewhere that Cinnamon and Pear would have their own things to do. Cinnamon was certainly calm and kind enough to help out at a Pokemon Center, but she lacked the healing ability. Pear, on the other hand, was still just a little too rough around the edges to be trusted with injured patients.
She was still debating her career path when, on a late night stroll with her Pokemon, she found inspiration.
Inspiration came in the form of a Swinub.
Swinubs were not a common Pokemon to be found in Kalos. In fact, none of them should have been outside the reach of their parents in the Frost Cavern far to the north, and yet here one was sniffling to the side of a bike path barely outside Lumiose City. Something was very wrong. Lucie knelt next to the little thing but it backed away from her in fear. It was clearly injured and far too young to be out here, but she was worried that reaching out for the poor thing would only scare it. She couldn’t just leave, though. Lucie sat in that spot for what felt like nearly an hour trying to gently coax the little Swinub towards her, trying to show it that she meant no harm. As she waited patiently the poor Pokemon finally, wearily, approached to sniff her outstretched hand. Up close she could see talon claws dug into its side, likely from a bird Pokemon who had picked it up from the snowy hills and dropped it far from home. She felt too guilty to try and catch it while it was in this state, so instead she let out Cinnamon and asked her to carry the little one on her back, and the three went to the lab.
Lucie tended to the Swinub with as much care as she could. Cinnamon was, as she had expected, an excellent bedside aide in keeping their patient calm and content. Lucie stitched closed the poor Swinub’s gashes and fed him berries to help speed up the healing process--she wasn’t sure if he would accept a potion, since he was still a Wild Pokemon. During this time Lucie became keener on reading Swinub’s mood. She had always been able to read Cinnamon since they had been together for so long, but now she was starting to feel more. Her Empathy was increasing past just a passive state to the point where she could feel the emotions of those around her. It was strange, but useful in understanding how a Pokemon felt in her care. Still, her focus was on helping the Swinub recover so that she could return it to his family up north.
This plan didn’t really work out.
Once Swinub was healed up and she could feel it was in higher spirits, Lucie planned to bring him with her up to the Frost Cavern and help it find its parents. However she began to notice something going on between it and Cinnamon. Cinnamon would groom the little Swinub and it would nestle into her belly to fall asleep...just like a baby. In the time it had taken for Lucie to heal it, Swinub had imprinted onto the Pyroar that had been at its side and kept it safe and warm, and Cinnamon loved it like it were her own cub. Lucie wasn’t thrilled with this development. It meant that in order to return Swinub to its real home, she would need to pull it away from yet another mother, and likely break Cinnamon’s heart in the process. With a sigh of resignation she caught the Swinub (more like poked it with the Pokeball, really) and named it “Pomme”. Since then, Pomme has been less a member of her team and more Cinnamon’s son, and while at first Lucie wasn’t happy about it she’s come to care just as much for him.
Despite the bumps along the way, Lucie graduated from medical school with a goal firmly in her heart. She wanted to create a center for wild Pokemon who had suffered from injuries beyond those of battle, where they could heal, regain their strength, and then be released back to their homes. She believed that it was unfair and cruel of a trainer to catch a Pokemon that was hurt in such a way, especially if they weren’t going to immediately bring it in for medical aid. Her center would be one where the wild Pokemon was able to leave and then choose whether or not they would be captured in the future when they were healthy and happy. To reach this goal, she chose to leave the Kalos region and travel to Veria, a beautiful region not too far from her own with a lovely area great for her center: Alterna City, with its large farmlands and clean, natural surroundings created an ideal place for Pokemon to recover.
For a couple years Lucie worked at a standard Pokemon Center until she made enough to purchase a small farmhouse with its own land. However, it was on the very first night sleeping in this new house--her own house--that she found herself thinking of how she was going to open her own business, be her own boss, be potentially other people’s boss, handling an unknown number of injured wild Pokemon that she may or may not be able to help. Needless to say she did not sleep well that night. Or the next, or the next, or the next. Stress and dread began to weigh on Lucie to the point where she was unable to take the steps towards her goal. It was on the fifth night that a peculiar visitor flew in through her window.
Much like how Pomme had come into her life without warning, so to did the mysterious Musharna that stole into her home one fateful evening. Lucie had been in the middle of a horrible nightmare born of stress when the Musharna drifted over her head and began to nibble on the nightmare. Slowly they faded away into a deep, restful sleep. When Lucie woke she was surprised to find the Musharna still floating above her, eyes closed and a deep purple mist emanating from its forehead. She could feel something odd coming from it. A feeling of...loneliness, or being outcast. A feeling of curiosity and yearning, or wanting something to replace that loneliness. It was all muddled and misjointed, and Lucie couldn’t clearly discern the core of those feelings, but all the same she reached out to the Musharna and asked if it wanted to stay with her. It had taken the nightmares right from her head, giving her clarity and focus and drive, and if she could give it a home in return then that would make her happier than anything. The Musharna didn’t respond, didn’t even open its eyes, but...it didn’t fight when she used the Pokeball on it, so to some degree, it must have accepted her offer.
Lucie named him “Peace”, after the feeling he returned to her.
And so begins Lucie’s adventure. She had the farmhouse and a license to practice medicine on Pokemon, as well as the help of her team. While the farm is her base of operations, and provides the ideal atmosphere for healing, she also takes time to travel around Veria to find wild Pokemon in need of her help. So far her work has been successful. Time will tell if the Wild Pokemon Protection Center will be worth it.

Minor Empathy: Lucie is capable of feeling the emotions of others within 30 square feet (9 square meters) of herself. The closer in proximity a person is to her, the more she can feel the other person’s emotions. Stronger emotions from others often elicit strong emotions within Lucie as she often have trouble clearly differentiating between another person’s emotions and her own. She mostly uses this ability to help her determine the feeling of Pokemon in her center and attempt to soothe them.
Other Information
Lucie went through six years of medical school to prepare to open the WPPC. She’s a skilled Pokemon doctor that has extensive knowledge of both the surgical and medicinal practices needed for healing her “clients” to their very best.

(From a My Hero Academia RP with my character Nemuri:)
SHE DIDN'T KNOW IF SHE HAD FRIENDS, or she did have friends but not ones that she was comfortable asking to come out with her. Either way that was confusing and sad. Maybe she was just the sort of person who had terrible self-esteem and couldn't shake the feeling that any "friends" she had were just taking pity on her. Nemuri hadn't been that person in school, but she had known a few. It was hard to show them that her friendship had been genuine and not a burden in anyway, and sometimes, there was just nothing to be done. As Miku continued to explain more about her background Nemuri's theory gained more ground. Sheltered childhood, kept at bay from other kids, trust issues...yeah, that sounded like it lined up perfectly.
Poor kid.
"I'm pretty sure that anyone who calls you their friend doesn't think you're a bother or a burden. And if they do and tell you that, then they're not your friend." Nemuri set her mug down on the shelf behind her, a slightly more serious glint in her eyes, though she still tried to hold a smile on her face. "Your guardian sounds like he was trying to keep you safe, but...wasn't sure how to go about it. Good intentions, shi--strange methods. Still. I'm sure he just wanted to make sure nothing and nobody hurt you."
Her fingers drummed lightly on the counter behind her as she shifted her weight to her palms, holding herself up on the dark wood. "Whatever it was he told you, I'd guess it was a enough of a shock to make you wonder who you can trust. I'm sorry, then, about that. Just don't let it taint all of your experiences. There are people out there with ulterior motives. But most of the people you meet aren't jerks, and even if they have their own issues, a lot of them probably want friends like everyone else does." Nemuri sighed softly, then shrugged.
"I can't give you clearer advice than that, but I don't want you to feel like you need to spill everything to me. I like to listen to people and talk about what's bothering them. It's not my job, but...it's part of it, sort of, to help people, right?"
Even if I'm not a hero, I want to help.
