They had said it was going to be cold, but they hadn’t said it was going to be this cold. At least she was bundled up with a thick down jacket, snow pants, and plenty of warm under clothing. Katie meandered the mountain side letting her freshly hatched swinub explore to his little hearts contentment.
She hadn’t named him yet and as he was a hatchling she figured the best place to test his little legs would be in the Mountain Caverns of Aleal. That and she had a hunger for the frozen wilds and the myths that they held. She was curious to see if she would find anything interesting to report back in her research. She connected with the Swinub both telepathically and empathically.
He was giddily rooting through the snow with quick little oh whats this? And this? Oh I want to eat it? He would get a gentle no from her in return as she began to connect a bond with the little swinub.

you'vegotabigheart THAT'S THE WAY YOU SEE THE WORLD The little Swinub continued to root in the snow as they approached the entrance of the cave; its muzzle had a little pile of snow as it walked into a drift. Katie thrilled at the little guy’s excitement and then a sudden startlement. Katie picked up on two sets of shock and surprise in the snow drift and she heard the familiar high pitch call of a cleffa.
Katie sighed in relief, nothing to be too worried about but she heard the sweet little voice sing and then the swinub’s mind drifted off into dreams of chasing after singing snow drifts. Katie had to laugh softly as she saw the small pink pokemon dart out of the opposite side of the snowdrift and into the cave singing to its self “Cleeeeffff—A! Cleeeffa! Cleffa” as it pattered away.
Katie got down into the snow and crawled into the hollowed tunnel the swinub had investigated. She found him sleeping, rolled onto his side and his little legs twitching as if he were running. Based on his minds thoughts and projection of the dream he was adamantly chasing after a snowdrift and then it turned back on him in a charge. The little swinub let out a yelp of fright and startled awake running into Katie.
Katie soothed him and patted him reassuringly. After a little bit he settled down and went back to rooting in the snowdrift having caught the smell of something that caught his interest. She heard the soft clink of teeth on metal and he came carrying back to her some sort of band with the impression for a crystal to fit into.
Something she would have to investigate for research purposes.

The swinub then snoofed back into the recesses of the snow pile and returned with a purple crystal, this one held the emblem of the Ghost type and it looked to match the impression on the band he had just found. She would definitely do some research and follow up on this.
The little swinub then took off at a sudden burst busting through the back of the snow drift and into the tunnel. Katie followed after to see him investigating what looked like a diglett hole. He bounced around excitedly Whats this momma? What is this?...be careful she warned him just a little too late and a ball of mud shot up out of the hole and landing smack on the swinub. He stumbled with on “oooofff” and squeel.
Katie decided to use this as a teaching moment to her little youngling and with a gentle firmness Katie gave the telepathic instruction to use Ice Shard. The little swinub formed three shards of ice and hurled them at the diglett sufficiently knocking it out. The little swinub squeeled with glee and run around in circles around Katie I did it momma, did you see, did you see?!!! was its excited little thoughts.
Katie beamed with pride and excitement that came from the little one Very good job…next time instead of getting so frightened just remember that you can do anything you set your mind to…I am here to help train and guide you but ultimately you will need to learn to make quick judgement calls on your own.
Yes momma! I will do my best momma!
Very good then. Let’s keep exploring then.

you'vegotabigheart THAT'S THE WAY YOU SEE THE WORLD Continuing deeper into the tunnel Katie pulled out a flashlight as the swinub snoofed along exploring various crevices and stones. Suddenly an EEEKK!!! And an audible squeal echoed in her telepathic plane as well as within the cavern.
Katie rushed to the little swinub as he turned around excitedly with a little white and pink ribbon in his mouth I found somethin’ momma! he proclaimed excitedly. She inwardly rolled her eyes at the fright he had given her; she was so jumpy for some reason…must be the rearing of a baby; always a first for something. Good nose! she praised taking the ribbon from him and placing it within her pocket.
Katie saw the flash of a fire punch out of the corner of her eye coming at the little swinub meandering away from her. Thinking quickly Katie dove for the little swinub in time to shield him from being hit by a little Magby’s Fire Punch; however Katie didn’t come out unscathed. She sucked in a sharp breath as the arm of her coat seared through down to her arm. She cried out in pain and pulled the coat off quickly packing snow onto the bubbling wound.
The little swinub began to freak out in a panic asking frantically if she was alright and that he was sorry for not seeing the attack. She soothed him best she could and then saw the Magby turn again this time charging with a Fire Blast.
“Use earthquake!” she commanded firmly. The ground began to shake as anger radiated from the little swinub; anger that the magby had hurt its mother and anger that it was attempting to do so again. The ground shook vehemently causing some of the rocks within the tunnel walls to fall. Katie had to shield herself from some of the smaller rocks as they fell. The magby tried to get out of the range of the earthquake but between the tremors in the earth and the falling rocks from the cave ceiling it was unable to evade. It was knocked out and buried under a small pile of stones.
Katie checked to see if it was alright and she could tell that it was still present but sufficiently unconscious. As far as its injuries or the severity…well a psychic couldn’t determine that and it was also the natural course of their world. If you attacked an opponent, either wild or a trainer, you ran the risk of injury. NOTES: claiming magical ribbon 3/4 |TAGS: | WORD COUNT: 411 +2 evo points

you'vegotabigheart THAT'S THE WAY YOU SEE THE WORLD The sound of a Sawk could be heard grumbling unpleasantly as a side effect of the earthquake. It was heard further back in the tunnel and knowing that she was mildly injured and not fully equipped with a grown team she picked herself up.
“Let’s go Oliver,” she stated evenly as the little swinub squealed around her feet in relief.
Then realizing it had been named squealed even greater in excitement; she could feel the waves of pleasure coming from the little pokemon.
A gold glint caught her eye and she walked over to the outskirts of where the earthquake had happened and found a golden, crown like rock.
“Let’s go home,” she said looking down at the swinub and they headed out of the tunnels together.
