Scott saw a handful of gold berries hanging high up on a tree. He knew the gold berries were rare and useful, though he was a little fuzzy on some of the details, but try as he might, the berries remained ever so slightly out of reach.

Then Scott had an idea.

"C'mere, Croak!"

The Croagunk raced to Scott's side.

"Help me get those gold berries up there, will ya?"

"Cro-cro!"

Scott picked up the Croagunk and lifted him as high as he could. He could see the Croagunk reaching out, could see his fingers curl around a gold berry--

--then Croak twisted the wrong way, Scott lost his balance, and they both came tumbling down.

Scott got up fairly quickly (though he knew he'd probably have a few bruises to show for it the next day) and came over to his Croagunk's side. "You okay, buddy?"

"Gunk." The Croagunk got up and opened one hand, revealing a single gold berry held within. "Gunk!"

Scott laughed a little. "Great job, Croak!" Scott then took the berry from his Pokemon's hand and gathered up a few of the non-gold berries that had fallen from the tree in the chaos before continuing onward.

The berries in the Berry Grove were so plentiful that for a moment, Scott forgot that he was supposed to be collecting them.

Scott picked one berry off of a tree, but rather than putting it in his bag, he threw it at his Croagunk while yelling, "Hey Croak, catch!"

"Cro!" The Croagunk responded, easily catching the berry and squishing it between his fingers. Croak picked up a nearby berry of his own and threw it at Scott. "Croa!"

Scott caught the berry, laughing, then threw it back to his Croagunk, the exchange going back and forth for some time until an errant toss landed the berry in Scott's bag.

"...oh yeah, I should probably hang on to these, huh?" Scott shrugged and looked back at his Croagunk. "Ah, who cares, that was fun enough to be worth it."

"Gunk-cro!"

Scott happened upon a bush which had ordinary berries on its outside but appeared to have golden berries hidden within its depths. Grimacing a bit, Scott crouched down and started to wade through the bush, trying to ignore the occasional thorn as he worked his way inside--

--until he felt several things hitting his backside.

Scott removed himself from the bush and saw his Buneary, Sweets, with her arms covered in berry stains, the Pokemon grinning wildly as she stood there staring at Scott. He also saw that, all around him, there were a vast number of berries on the ground where there previously had been none, a few of which had fallen haphazardly into his bag.

It took Scott a moment to put together the pieces.

When he did, though, he reached out and gently noogied his Buneary, though a smile almost as wide as hers was building on his face as he did so. "Thought you could get me, did ya?."

"Neary?" The Buneary's smile diminished a little, replaced with a perplexed expression.

Scott relaxed his arm, freeing the Buneary from his grip. "Well, it worked. You got me. Nice one, Sweets!"

Scott raised his hand for a high-five (high-three?) from his Buneary and received one, the Pokemon hitting with enough force that it hurt a little, her wild grin returning in spades.

"Bun-Bun!"
