As Dasha excused herself, Leilani almost tried to insist she stay, that they had plenty of room, but Kai was pretty quick to insist in turn that Dasha would be more comfortable staying in town. And, well, a guest's comfort was the ultimate key to hospitality, so she'd (slightly reluctantly) agree and give her a brief but heartfelt farewell, followed but an even shorter but still friendly enough one from Haku.
Kai followed her just outside on the porch. "Just call in the morning whenever you wake up, or whenever if you have any issues with our new friend." He was... admittedly a little worried and kind of felt like maybe he should stay with them but she'd still want her own room, and for a real emergency he was sure Leilani still had a Teleport user that would know Malie well, so he could at least cut out most of that trip from here. "We can play it by ear if you still want to climb Lanakila tomorrow or maybe just fly up to see the top or whatever else. Though if we can't catch her we should also pick up a nice carrier for her that you can keep as a carry-on on the plane." When did he accept Dasha's headcanon that it was a she? Oh well.
"...You don't want me to see you two back to town, do you? Not to stay, just.. make sure you get there okay?" If she declined the offer, he wouldn't press it, just ask that she texted him once she was in her room.

As Kai spoke, Dasha nodded. “I’ll look in on some of the Malie stores that might still be open,” she noted briefly. “If not, I have a loose bag that might be comfortable enough for her.” One of those fabric bags that had a lot of nice squishy pockets, heh. “Either way, I’ll text you if there are any problems.”
Dasha would pause at Kai’s last invitation. As comfortable as she was wandering around by herself, this was a new area, and she really couldn’t afford to get too lost. “Actually… would you mind walking me?” For a moment, she felt embarrassed but wouldn’t take it back now. Instead, she’d turn and start back in the direction of Malie.
The walk wasn’t bad. Dasha did end up stopping to look in a few of the Malie windows and ended up buying a nice cushioned carrier at a local Pet Pokemon Palace before continuing on. Thankfully no one else was in at that hour, and the pet store people were discrete. Once back at the hotel, however, Dasha thanked Kai and fished out her key. “Night,” would be the last word before she disappeared inside.
The next morning, the small ball of stars was up before Dasha was and making all kinds of ruckus along the way. Dasha would jerk awake to the sound of the small Pokemon knocking something over, and rather quickly becoming frightened and crying. Quickly getting up, she picked her up and managed to soothe her enough to pacify her for now. Realizing what time it was… made her sort of hold off on texting Kai for another hour, but at six she deemed it late enough in the morning to grab his attention.
-- I'm up and would still be up for hiking the mountain if we have time --

No, no he would not mind at all. He felt so much better about it in fact. Admittedly he was still kind of nervous by the time she disappeared into her room, but Kai told himself that if their starry friend had been peaceful this long he was probably worrying for nothing. He just... hoped he wasn't up all night worrying about them--
.. Ha. Well okay, so much for that worry. His old bed had been swapped for two smaller guest beds, and most of the decor had been changed several times over the years with just a few persisting staples. But when his body met one of the mattresses in the 'guest room'-- in what for several years had been his room-- he didn't remember 'trying' to get to sleep, didn't remember a hint of a dream or even have any inclination that time had passed. By his account, he laid down, and a few moments later his text notification went off.
He startled a bit and scrambled to grab and read it, worried for a moment that something had gone wrong, but then wound up squinting at the words. What? But it--....was around sunrise, apparently, and he suddenly realized just how rested he actually felt now that his brain was finishing coming back online. ...Well then. This was. considerably better than a hotel, wasn't it? Ahahahaha.
-- Should I meet you in town or? --
It 'made more sense' in his head for her to come here, given the base of the mountain was barely a stone's throw from their back yard. (Okay so, it was a pretty big 'yard', and maybe more like a Machamp's throw from the edge of it, but it was clearly visible from here so still.) But with his familiarity and her starry charge, yeah.
-- We could meet after we both have breakfast or I could head that way to meet you somewhere for it? --
Much as he'd love the homemade meal, he was fine either way.

Dasha had been mid-text before Kai’s second one had come in. Oh, yeah actually.
-- The hotel has a continental breakfast so I’ll grab some of that and head your way --
It was easier, and in the daylight hours, she knew her way around. Getting the star child to comply took some effort, but soon enough Dasha was carting her stuff and her tiny charge out of the hotel with some extra biscuits in tow. It seemed the only thing the baby wanted to eat was star shaped fruit and star cookies and star things in general, and if she wasn’t so endeared Dasha was pretty sure she’d be annoyed by such a picky eater. Whatever for now, though.
By the time Dasha had arrived at Kai’s uncle and aunt’s place, she’d released Snowflake and what on first glance appeared to be a Glaceon. In fact, it was a very astute Zoroark who had thrown up an illusion around Dasha’s belongings to also conceal the baby for now. What anyone would see even close up would be yet another bag stacked on her tote. Nothing interesting or strange about that.
Snowflake was the first to come up to the porch looking around for Kai to get some head pats from.

By the time Dasha arrived, Kai had finished a nice breakfast with the family (or nice other than the fact that without Dasha actually there his aunt no longer held back on more invasive or embarrassing questions but ehhh what else was family for heh..), said his goodbyes with assurance he'd try to come back some time in the next few months with the kids even if they only wound up staying a day or two again, and packed up his things to wait for Dasha on the front porch.
Or well, he'd been waiting, but a small herd of Lillipup came and attacked him as they practiced learning Lick, and then in getting them to go do something else he wound up taking a walk around and seeing some of the Mareep and Rhyhorn that were up and about this morning. When he made it back to the porch thinking he was free, Fonzie came up with a tennis ball, and how could he say no to that poor old sap? The Herdier was out of breath before long anyway, so when Dasha arrived Kai would be sitting on a bench finishing a smoke while Fonzie lay across his lap, still catching his breath but so very content.
He wondered about the new Pokemon, but assuming Dasha would explain her little trick, he'd wind up grinning. Clever clever girl~
Kai tossed his cigarette butt down in a nearby coffee can as Snowflake approached, and pulled her closer with one arm to pet enthusiastically while the other scratched at Fonzie. Double puppers good puppers~~!
Then came a small chorus of yips in the distance, and Kai shot up to look their direction. "Shit they're coming back, we gotta move, go go go go." He was absolutely being overdramatic about this, snickering even as he pushed Fonzie aside and grabbed his bag, hurrying toward and past Dasha. He was legitimately trying to get out of range before the Lillipup got back though, silly reasoning or no.

Ahhhhh Kai was such a good human. Snowflake really did like him a lot. There was just something about him that screamed Comfort, and just wanted to climb up in his lap with Fonzie. Or maybe nip his cheek or his ear and try and get him to roughhouse. Before that could happen, however, he was up and moving and?? Kai what? What was coming? Yips? Smols?
Pfffffttftftftf??? Kai what are you— what. Dasha didn’t really have time to understand what was going on but was quick enough to follow after Kai. Snowflake was at her heels and Heather the totally-a-Glaceon-not-a-Zoroark followed after. Why were they running what was going on? Oh whatever.
As they got out of the ranch area, however, Dasha would slow a little and walk more of the way towards the mountain. She didn’t need to burn up her energy too quickly, after all, especially with how high it was. And yet… being out there, moving along, and going up was so so so refreshing to her. Even with a bit more stuff in tow and constantly having to check on the baby now and again, Dasha felt so in tune there, so comfortable there. It was nice.
Further out still, Dasha started to catch sight of more and more Ice type pointed them out with a lot of straightforward interest. She liked Ice types even if she didn’t consider herself a specialist in them. If she hadn’t already had an arctic Ninetales she most certainly would have caught a Vulpix here. And oh, look a Snorunt group over there. Bet they were a family. And— wait a minute Snowflake look that was an Absol in the distance. Heh.

Ahahaha~ As they got away, Kai's only explanation would be "pack babies". All in all, the hike actually seemed mostly quiet, but it was nice. Much like the serene nature of the Paniola view or.. a lot of Alola's wonders really, heh. It was nice to just get out and breathe it all in now and then. Charger and Fractal would join him on the hike, the latter quietly elated to visit home again, and as they climbed higher he pulled his coat from his bag to get a bit warmer. Occasionally he asked how the baby was doing, but she seemed fine.
Dasha's excitement as they started to see more snowy Pokemon was endearing as he was growing to expect, and-- Oh shit Absol where? Ahh... if it was closer he'd have been very tempted. He'd never actually trained one somehow and Snowflake was such a good good girl. But they were on a schedule, and needed to keep moving up, not off on a tangent where the Absol in question might easily elude them anyway, so oh well.
As they reached a brief rest stop, he looked out over the view for a minute just taking it all in. Eventually turning back to her, he asked, "So... have you enjoyed the trip?"

Ooohh the view from up there was so nice? She could see everything so clearly even at a distance, and the way the sun gleamed on everything was so nice and good and pure? She loved it? Looking to Kai as he spoke, she gave a small nod. “A—“ There had been some problems, and she very much did remember them (right, brain?) and yet… yet… “It’s been nice seeing Alola,” she admitted a bit quieter. “I love the mountains and the Fighting trial and … all the lush terrain and surfing and…..” She smiled a little hoping that’d make her point pretty quickly. “It’s all very nice.” A slow breath in and out. “Thank you for showing it to me.” That smile was perhaps the most sincere it had been the entire trip. Nothing more nothing else behind it. Just this.
