The world gave me a second chance
Izumi Yamamura Word Count: 625 OOC: Aww, he's nervous
| |
This was the night! After months and months of work, work had been completed on Blue Dragon and it was finally time to show it off to a select audience before releasing it into theatres? While Josh was happy to have the weight lifted off his shoulders, of working on the movie, he had to admit he missed the rush a little. At times he even got into character so well he almost thought he actually WAS The Blue Dragon! He hoped that would translate onto how he delivered on the silver screen in his first leading role. To him, he got the lead far too quickly. But apparently his look, the way he walked and the way he talked were exactly what they were looking for when it came to the Blue Dragon character. The director even said it was like the role was made for him or something! Regardless, premiere night was here, and he was nervous. People seeing him on a big screen for, cameos nobody remembered aside, the first time… Geez, he just hoped that he’d be able to do this right… Pray to Arceus your Llama-god that you didn’t fuck up, he told himself, that you somehow didn’t fuck this up. No room for re-shoots now. It was now or never. So Josh had gotten all dressed up, alongside his girlfriend Izumi Yamamura who for some reason seemed incredibly giddy about the fact she was going to be walking close to him in front of a LOT of people. He wore a nice suit, better than the one he usually rented, for the occasion. He actually BOUGHT this suit, for once, and it was definitely a weird thing, actually owning a suit. How did he have the funds to buy a suit? Well, he'd made a decent amount off his side of the HoloWatch profits, and from what he was paid for Blue Dragon... Of course, if this movie went well, the amount he was going to be paid for Blue Dragon could potentially skyrocket... It wasn't why he wanted the movie to succeed, but he certainly did hope that it did. It was his first starring role, after all... His expression didn't tell it, as he looked confident and excited for what was to come... But he was nervous. Deathly nervous. Was it because of the limo the two had ended up in? The director had ended up renting it for them, but this was still his first time in one, so that was one unfamiliar experience to start his nerves off. Of course he was excited about the premiere though! He was so excited, he'd hardly been able to sleep! But he was just... Well, he was nervous. Horrifically nervous. There was going to be so many people, and he just hoped that his didn't flop... The limo would pull up to the red carpet, and the amount of people that were outside was far worse then he had imagined. The doors would be opened any moment now, and while Josh did have Izumi with him, plus Lightning (Who wore a cute little blue bowtie) on Josh's shoulder on the other side of Izumi (Because the Electric Mouse knew better then to be on the same side as Izumi) the nerves finally became visible as he visibly bit his lip and began to stare at the floor... His confidence had faded then and there, and he wasn't sure if he could do this. Going out there, facing so many people, so many cameras, with so much pressure, so much expectation... I'LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO PROTECT IT

it's not that easy,存在の証明が他にないから To be honest, Izumi wasn’t expecting to see the limousine that had pulled up near where they lived, which she was pretty sure was near the middle of nowhere, some miles outside of Caravella. But how in the ten circles of Hell did this limousine manage to get here?! She could only whistle, before eventually finding out that this limo was going to be taking them to an early premiere screening of The Blue Dragon, where Josh had the lead role; no one-liner, one-scene cameos, no nothing of that shit!
Of course, she was over the moon when he’d invited her, which she’d agreed to all too quickly. Since she’d already worn a certain blue dress somewhere, and was iffy on wearing another red one she’d spotted in the depths of her wardrobe, she’d also gone shopping for an equally glitzy dress she could wear to the premiere night—which was actually in a few hours. Now that she’d finally managed to get some time alone, she then made sure to lock the door and begin her preparations…
When she’d heard her boyfriend hollering through her door several hours later that they were going to be late, she then put the finishing touches to her hair, before stepping out in an evening dress that was sure to turn more than a few heads. Seeing as red and blue, as well as black were out of the question, she’d decided to accompany him in an emerald-green, mermaid-style one-shoulder dress that showed off her right shoulder just so. Her hair had been done up in a classy ‘do; accompanied with a matching hand bag that had…several interesting items crammed inside it.
Because you never know… she thought to herself, seated across from him during the trip to the theater where there was a crowd waiting. As soon as the door opened, she then let him go out first, before quickly following and then beaming at the cameras.
Winding her arm around his, she then hissed in his direction, “You’re freezing up. Try to act natural. They’re here to see you! Not me. This night, everything’s all you!” before helping him walk down the red carpet, doing her best to calm his shattered nerves down. It looked like he was ready to make a run for it, but she was there with him; his anchor, his muse, his everything.

The world gave me a second chance
Izumi Yamamura Word Count: 4179 (HOLY SHIT) OOC: Ohhhhhhhhhhh

To be frank, he had no idea how it got there, but it did. There seemed to be some sort of road outside of the borders of the ranch, even if bumpy and hard to notice at all times. But they hadn't had to walk far from the ranch to get to where the limo was waiting, so... Well, he wasn't really going to complain. Still, he was more concerned right now about his own nerves. He had been confident throughout the day, or at least... Confident on the outside. But he hadn't done this before, it was kind of a given that he would be nervous, right? Or well, he figured as much anyway, but it still didn't stop the fact he was nervous as all hell. Izumi of course looked beautiful, which he'd probably mentioned a good five or six times since he'd seen her step out while they were waiting for the limo, and while driving to the theater. Being around her like this only made him more nervous, a bit about his looks too. He wanted to look his best to be fit to walk down the carpet with her, it was like she was the one who they were there to see and not him! Sure, this wasn't the case, but in his eyes, he had to look his sharpest and his best to do Izu justice with the work she'd put in to look as she did. He'd ended up getting in some last minute messing with his hair and straightening out his suit, smoothing out the crinkles and smoothening out his tie, making sure it's perfectly right and oriented. His hair had been straightened, and parted to the side so he could see right. He'd made sure to get it cut a little bit more short then the usual ahead of the premiere day anyway, so that wasn't too hard. But the limo had arrived at the theater and he was nervous. Like, he wouldn't even know what to do in this instance. Well, the door opened and Izu would make her remarks at his side. “You’re freezing up. Try to act natural. They’re here to see you! Not me. This night, everything’s all you!” He let out a breath, and nodded his head. Well, that settled it... Or well, settled something in particular. The two would step out onto the red carpet, and a confident smirk crossed Josh's lips as he would loop his arm with Izumi's and look out at the crowd, as people began to cheer and the cameras began to flash. Lightning would shy behind Josh's shoulder a little, but seemed to at least be able to remain somewhat calm as his Trainer was. It was interesting, the bond between them. The usually docile and skittish Pikachu, who would normally hate this sort of crowd, was able to overcome it's fears just for now because it's master - no, it's partner - was calm and collected and confident, and it just seemed to rub off on the Pikachu. Josh would note the presence of a handful of young women in the crowd staring at him, and oh god did he recognize that look. A look he really did hope that Izumi didn't see, because despite his physical strength, he doubted that he could hold Izumi back from what he knew the raven-haired terror of a woman she would become, would do if she saw that. Also, for some reason she liked to throw syringes. Actual fucking syringes. Which by the way freaked him the fuck out because if you remember, those freaks used syringes to cause those... Well, those monsters from long ago. A drug injection. So that was a triggering thing to several of his Pokemon, and to Josh himself when he found out. The worst part was, he was 90% sure that Izumi had stowed a few into her dress, just as she did -last time- they went out somewhere fancy. So he -really- hoped she didn't see them. Not because he didn't want her to think he was disloyal or anything, I mean, she knew he was loyal. But because... Well... I mean, come on. The man used to be the absolute biggest flirtinator in the world. Izumi knew this, that was pretty much how they met. They'd been on mission together and he had just flirted up a storm with Izumi. He had called her every compliment in the world, and if he hadn't been secretly shy, he might even have just slapped her ass right then and there. It had started her crush on him, and her attention to him brought about how close they had become. It had taken a few years for them to start dating, but well... It'd been over a year since, and honestly? It felt like longer then that. They'd been unofficially dating, almost, for so long now. It just took so long for them to really admit how they felt to one another and actually go through with it. In his eyes? He had been with Izumi far longer then just a year. But the point was, that he wasn't scared for his safety if Izumi went nuts. He was scared for -their- safety... Or more in particular, the safety of innocents around them. Maybe it was his police Trainer instincts at work... But despite having been at it a good while, Izumi was still rather... New, to this whole ninja thing. And this weapon was new to her too. If she tried to throw that at someone who pissed her off, and he knew that even just that look might trigger it... Well... Odds were she'd hit an innocent, and then there'd be arrests thrown, and the whole thing would be ruined. But most importantly, someone would get hurt. He didn't want that. Nor did he want Izumi upset either, for obvious boyfriend reasons. Especially long-term boyfriend reasons. They would hit the theater, and it was followed by an hour of interacting with movie sorts of people, as well as fans and all of that. Apparently, something Josh didn't know was that this movie had been done by a big director, and producer and all that, who had started Blue Dragon as a new series for them, but it was far from their first for actual series. Which would explain why the theater was packed to the brim instead of being a small number which you would expect from a small franchise with a rookie director, new producers, etc. Apparently fans of the current director and producer had come to see how they'd fare with a series all of their own, brand new. Which astonished Josh even more about the fact he'd somehow managed to land this role so early on in his acting career. The more that he and Izumi spoke to folks, the more he learned about the director, the producers, and the behind the scenes of the movie, things that he hadn't learned even while he was THERE, shooting it! It was an interesting learning experience. It made him wonder if he would actually work for these guys again. I mean, he'd been rather new to it all still when he was there, but he'd pushed himself hard to learn quickly and improve in very quick order to keep up with the much more experienced actors, to the best of his ability. Of course, if this movie tanked, he doubted they'd call him back. That was his worst fear right now. All of this, just for the movie to tank. But... They had worked hard on it, and he'd seen bits and pieces of the movie, and to him, it seemed to be quite quality. So he was going to bet it would be good. Of course, it's hard to account for taste... But he had a good feeling about this one. Either way, it'd gotten him out there, and so long as his own performance didn't completely tank, he would be fine, he hoped. He'd probably get a call from someone eventually even if this movie bombed, so long as he did fine. If he sucked at it? Well, he wasn't sure. Would he be called by anyone, or get an audition again? Bombing a performance in something this big usually kept people from calling you... That might be the end right there. And he understood that. But he felt he'd done well and he'd been praised by the crew for it. So if they had faith in him... Why shouldn't he have faith in himself? Josh would be ambushed from nowhere by a reporter accompanied by a camera man, and Josh didn't really have a chance to prepare when they would pretty much shove a camera in his face. Lightning's cheeks would immediately begin to spark. "Pika..." He would begin to mutter as Josh would place a hand on Lightning's head, scratching behind the Pikachu's ears to calm the Pikachu down before managing to put on a calm face. Or, as close to calm as he was going to get, and the smirk probably helped that illusion of calm. "Mr. Dragomir, despite being new to the industry, you've managed to land a starring role in Mr. Kanaka's newest big project. How did you manage to land a role like the Blue Dragon?" The reporter would immediately ask, without really giving Josh a chance to prepare. I mean, damn, they didn't even try to ask him if they could have a word or anything? Was this how the press usually was? Like, damn. Of course, this was the same press, he recalled... That tried to make it out as though Dorian Westcliff were some kind of hero, despite the atrocities he had committed, soooo... He supposed intelligence, nor rationale were their strong suits, so long as they made money. Although he doubted someone like Dasha Laska would take their shit like he had to... She'd probably give them what for, for being this rude, she just seemed the type. Why think of Dasha? Well, on the note of doing something crazy... To answer their question, Josh would take a breath before shrugging his shoulders. "Honestly? I had no clue this was for a big time producer, or director" He would admit. "I mean... I was just looking for work, trying to get my name out there. I popped in for an audition, and I was just expecting to get some two-bit role, something small... Likely just an extra again and all that, but they were, I guess... Looking for a lead still. So for the hell of it, I applied. I showed up, I auditioned, didn't expect to hear back. Well, I didn't exactly hear back... It was more I showed up, there were a shitton of people in line, they brought me into a room. I did the lines, did the acting, all of that, with the test stuff they gave me. I was just kinda expecting to get the "Next" and be shuffled out for the next guy, but all of a sudden the director pops up and well... Honestly, it gave me the shock of my life.
He just stands up out of his seat, and cries out..." He begins before trying to impersonate the director's voice. "That's him! That's mah guy! That's the Blue Dragon! Cut the audition now, tell everyone to be ready to try out for a new role or go home! No more! That's the Blue Dragon! That's what ah always imagined!" before returning to his regular voice. "And it's just... Well, honestly it's been so surreal. And I'll admit, it's not been easy."Not seeming satisfied, of course the reporter would continue to pry. And had interrupted him at that, as he wasn't entirely finished, but Josh would just grin and bear it and keep that smile, letting out a resigned sigh. He had of course been interrupted by the reporter going "Mr. Dragomir, this could not have been easy, could it? Being so inexperienced but having to rise to such high expectations." Of course, his response was with a simple "Honestly? It's as I was trying to say, it wasn't easy. Every single day brought about new challenges. It's such a different story, when you're an extra, and when you're playing a major role, not just that, but the lead. I had to learn on the fly, and it was crazy, it was hectic. There were times I wondered if I'd actually be able to meet their expectations, but they seemed quite happy with how I did, so... I regret nothing. I aspired for excellence, and I aspired to improve myself astronomically on the go to meet their expectations and I sincerely hope that when you see this movie, you can see the fruits of my labor, the fruits of my effort and what I put my absolute heart and soul into."It was good that Josh was used to long bouts of speaking. Otherwise this would get really tiring, really fast. But the reporter would continue to ask questions for a matter of minutes, before getting to one that got his interest at least. "If this movie succeeds, could you see a Blue Dragon 2? Or even this becoming a trilogy? A full series, even?" A chuckle escaped him at that. But he would shrug. "I mean, I'd hope so. I put so much into the character and I've learned so much, I'd love to apply that into a second installment if it goes well. I mean, as you know, this story is about a young man who lost everything when the greed and resentment of a local mob caused the loss of his family in the midst of an experiment, the freak accident which gave him the ability to do things that no ordinary man could do. You get to see him struggle between getting his revenge, and using his abilities to help people who are in trouble just like he was. I would sincerely love to continue to be a part of that story, and to see it continue."
"Interesting..." The reporter responded and he couldn't tell if they were actually interested or were being condescending. But he put on a smiley face still, although Izumi could likely tell by his body language that he was uncomfortable, and likely a little bit irritated and annoyed. The press were certainly obnoxious... Speaking of the press, what were his co-workers at Interpol going to think if they saw this? The only person he'd told about his other job was Sam, and she was... Well, actually, he was pretty sure she quit, or went missing, or something. He didn't know Thomas Benoit very well, nor Dasha... He didn't really know @gwyn or Jakob Tesar or @lucia... @rhafiel, or Ryusuke Ugumi at all really... So this could be awkward when coming back to the office. Of course, his files stated he was a part time worker, so maybe it wouldn't be all that much of a surprise. Heh... It just now occurred to him that his friends Yumi Tasukai, Alanna Asakura and @honokasato might be watching the broadcast, if there was a camera there, if they hadn't found a way into the premiere themselves. They hadn't given him the opportunity to invite people, it'd only been thrown to himself and a date of his choice, which was obviously going to be Izumi Yamamura... Obviously. Kind of a "no shit" deal really. The full scope of this was slowly unraveling and becoming reality the more this went on, so he would quickly try to answer the question so he didn't think too much... Getting overwhelmed was the last thing he needed right now. The question of course, was one that once he had to ask them to repeat as he had spaced out the first time they had asked, caught him off-guard. "With all of this newfound fame, and your, well... Obvious looks" The reporter would begin, and Josh would note that she'd been looking him up and down throughout this, which brought a quirk of his brow. Oh god, Izumi was not going to like that, oh no, not at all. But the reporter would continue. "You've likely found yourself with a particular fanbase, no? Seen any looks you've been given?" The reporter had given him a particular smirk that he recognized, and he wasn't sure if they were taking the piss out of him, or being serious. "How does this pertain to your love life? You're going to have quite a bit of attention coming to you soon, if this works out, no?" Josh would scratch his head, not entirely sure how to answer that, especially with Izumi standing right there beside him. He then noted that same group from before, and a handful of them giving him that... Look. Standing just a ways behind the camera. There was no way Izumi wouldn't see that, and it was possible she might lose her temper then and there. And then... Something occurred to him. Something he'd been thinking about for a good, long while. Something he'd even talked casually with Izumi about, though they never actually confirmed that it was time. But the signs had always been there, and well... Honestly, while this wasn't the most fitting place for it... Considering it'd be sticking it to certain crowds watching, he realized that most likely? Izumi wouldn't want it any other way. If he was to do what he was about to do, he was going to do it in a way that would make Izumi smile now, and when they were alone, secretly begin cackling in glee. An evil glee, most likely, but still glee and joy. And glee and joy were things he liked her to have... He really did like seeing Izumi happy. She did have the most beautiful smile he had ever seen, after all... "Actually..."
And with that, the biggest, most devious smirk crossed his lips as his body language conveyed confidence once again. "I think I can solve that little dilemma right now."Fishing through his pocket, he would pull out something before removing the Pikachu from his shoulder. He would hand Lightning to the reporter. "Here, hold my Pikachu."Lightning would tilt his head, confused about what was going on. "Pika?" Josh would clear his throat, before calling out to the folks attending. "Excuse me? Could I have everyone's attention please?"
The crowds around them would begin to focus their attention on Josh, who would let out a deep breath. Oh boy... Deep breaths, Josh... Deep breaths. Come on... "Thank you."
With that, he would clear his throat. "I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for coming. While I can't guarantee the success of the movie, as everyone has their tastes... I want to say that I've poured my absolute heart and soul into this, and being able to share it with you all means the world to me. The fact you're all here... To share in a moment in my life that I will never forget... Well, again, heh... I'll never forget it. So I want to share a moment of my life with you guys once more... So if you could bear with me, I'd like to have absolute silence while I do this.
Because, uh...
There's... Something I wanted to tell, to a very special person here. Someone... Very special to me. Someone who's very dear to my heart. This woman has been by my side for years now. I mean, it's true we've only been dating for a period of time, but it feels like so much longer. We've been in love, quite frankly, for several years now, and I'll admit that it took me way too long to make things official. Kind of a mistake on my part, but... Needless to say, I don't regret spending these last few years, this last year in particular, with this woman.
She's... Well, she's the world to me. I would be absolutely lost without her, and I don't know if I could smile, genuinely smile at all without going home every day and seeing her smile. She's been at my side through my best, and my worst... And I sincerely hope that we'll have many more years to look forward to together.
But... There's something I've been wanting to say for a very long time to her... Please, if you would... Give a big hand for my dear Izumi Yamamura."He would wait out the round of applause from the crowd for Izumi, before Josh would turn to Izumi himself. He was nervous, and while he hadn't shown that while looking to the crowd, as he looked Izumi in the eyes, she'd be able to see it. She had always been able to see it. She knew him like the back of her hand, and she could tell his emotions when others could not. "Izu... I..."
He let out a breath, trying to compose himself. He would gently reach out and take her hands into his own. "I know this is a sudden, I know that this probably wasn't what you expected. But... For a long time now, you've been the one to go forward, to take initiative, to say what you mean and what's in your heart. Me... I've uh... Always been a bit of the shy type when it comes to relationships, and I know that. It's... Been a lot of work, growing, and developing myself in this. Trying to learn what a relationship should be, and trying to learn what love is really like... And what it really is.
With you... I... I uh... Heh... I feel like I've found that. And I've come to realize, more and more, the more we've spent time together, the more that I'm with you... That I don't want to live this life without you. I don't want anyone else, not now, not ever. You will forever, and always be the one for me, Izumi... Always you, nobody else. You are the light of my life, and in my eyes... You are my real, and true soulmate. We only get one in this life, and when I look at you... I know in my heart, that it's you.
So what I've been wanting to say is... I know that this isn't the most fitting place to say this sort of thing in general, but considering what I -know- you've seen..." He trailed off, and a slight smirk crossed his lips. That was why he'd picked now, after all... He just knew Izumi well. "... I think this fits you and me more then anything" He cracked, with a light chuckle. What he was about to say, on live TV, in front of a crowd, where it'd be unlikely that certain group would go near him after he said it? Considering Izumi's tendencies, her attitude, and what he knew she felt toward these sorts of things... This was the ultimate prank, the ultimate "fuck you" of sorts to some, and he knew that if he knew Izumi right... She'd love every second of it. He knew, of course, there was a chance he was wrong about Izumi. He might even be wrong about what her answer might be to what he was about to say. "So what I'm trying to say is... You've spent so much time taking the initiative, taking us forward... And well... Truth is, I've decided that...
It's my turn to do the same for you."With that, Josh would let out a breath. Deep down, he was sure Izumi knew what he was about to say. But did he have the courage to say it? If this went south, this could be a big problem... He knew full well he was taking a risk of this. Risking being humiliated in front of all these people... But that was the thing. Sure, this was one of the most riskiest times... But the fact was... He trusted Izumi. More then anyone else. And that was part of why he'd made the decision to do what he was about to do. He would kneel down to one knee, and gasps erupted throughout the crowd as they got the significance of it. Josh would pull out what he'd been hiding, a small box. He would open it, revealing a ring with the gem instead being a Gardevoirite... The Mega Stone for Izumi's preferred partner, and favorite Pokemon. It was a bit... Unconventional, but it had been suggested to him to try that... As a joke, he was sure, but he had decided to take the ball and run with it. And with that, he would look into her eyes and smile. "Izumi Yamamura... Will you do me the honor of making me the happiest man alive in this world? Would you do me the honor... And marry me?"

it's not that easy,存在の証明が他にないから Of course, Izumi had no idea on what, or how to expect when she herself was out on the red carpet! Normally she’d only see the pictures (and watch the few shows online when she got the chance) but now that she was right here, right at this very moment, accompanying her boyfriend who was apparently “the next big thing in Verian cinema” (and trying to help him course through the evening without going into a state of mental breakdown) and walking down the red carpet.
She found it slightly disconcerting that there were more than a few female eyes that were staring at her boyfriend, and her eyebrows went up ever so slightly at the way they were…ogling him. If she’d have her way, she’d have thrown a few leaf-shaped blades here and there between some unassuming foreheads if they didn’t keep their eyes to themselves—but she knew that one of the prime rules for one of her, ah, “profession” was to hide in plain sight. So instead, she focused all of her attention on Josh, waving and smiling at the cameras. Things were going fine, sure, she’d forgiven the few stray girls who were eyeing him here and there, at least until…
It wouldn’t take too long for Izumi to catch the eye of a much larger group of…well, female fans eyeing Josh like he was fresh meat; and in response, the smile on her face froze a little. In return, she hung on tighter to his arm—maybe a little too tighter than what was her normal, but the smile on her face became the Pokéverse equivalent of the Mona Lisa as she was too busy waving at the cameras while thinking of how to bring down certain death on the gaggle of ladies who had their eyes all over her boyfriend.
Admittedly the walk down the red carpet took a little longer than expected, because there were fans who were asking for his autograph, but quite frankly she wasn’t sure if he was ready to sign those yet—and they were eventually swept up into the foyer of the cinema, which had been transformed into what appeared to be a gala party area. The semi-frozen smile on her face remained stuck, because her senses were now on high alert—the last time she’d been in such a posh setting like this (and that wasn’t too long ago) shit had hit the fan, so to speak—and all she did back then was just stare into nothingness. She’d zoned out.
Definitely not this time.
The fans who wanted his autograph actually got their wish; and while they were apologizing sheepishly in her direction, all she could do was rub the back of her neck and give them an apologetic smile in response. Who knew that he’d shot from virtual unknown to the next face of the Verian silver screen because of this movie?! She was about to suggest to him that they go get something to eat before they went to their seats in the movie house proper when a reporter, along with cameraman, seemingly came from out of nowhere and grabbed him into an ambush interview!
Most of—who are you kidding, ALL of the questions—were mostly focused on how he’d come to land such a huge role from out of nowhere, and she had to hold her breath because there was this smirk that was threatening to break out on her face when he’d launched into his best imitation of the director of the entire film. Despite the obvious height difference, she was a bit lucky she was a bit on the short side—because with the way they were peppering him with questions related to his sudden skyrocketing to superstardom (and the way the camera was focused on his face), she was pretty much a foot beneath where the camera was pointed.
Unfortunately for the reporter, though, she could perfectly see the way she was eyeing him; the eyes going up and down in the well-known “elevator stare”, and the same Pokéverse equivalent of the Mona Lisa smile crossed her face for the briefest of moments. She could tell that he was getting pissed, the way they were relentlessly hammering him with questions—but it was the next few questions that suddenly caught her in the camera’s lens! The look on her face shifted to one of surprise, before the same, calm, Mona Lisa smile resurfaced—now Izumi wanted to stick a leaf-shaped blade between the reporter’s forehead right then and there.
What the fuck was she implying?
At the same time he’d been asked that question, the same group of girls from earlier who had their eyes all over him were waiting in the crowd, much like a bunch of hyenas ready to snap at the closest prey they could reach—and that prey was Josh! The same mysterious smile on her face persisted, but inside her mind—the monster was roaring; and not because it wanted out, because it wanted to bring down all manner of painful death on all the idiots who were eyeing him! He already had a girlfriend, for Arceus’ sake!
She was left to wonder what the hell he was rambling about, when a flash of yellow sailed by her field of vision—her first instinct was to jump backwards because it was the yellow menace—but now he was addressing everyone in the reception area. What was he talking about?
The first part went completely over her head—because it was mostly for the film that they were about to watch—when his tune suddenly changed, and the topic suddenly zoomed in on her!
Her face, which she tried to keep as impassive as possible, suddenly broke out into a deep blush as he’d introduced her to everyone present. While she was aware that the group of girls were now eyeing her with something that looked close to hatred, she didn’t give a fuck about how they were glaring at her. In response, she raised her hand and waved at everyone who was clapping in her direction, keeping her composure as best as she could manage—now that the camera was trained on her; before slowly backing away as he turned to face her.
Now even her ears were burning red, what was he on? Her first reaction was to blurt out the words, “Are you on crack?” but the way he was talking had prevented her from actually muttering that sentence that was in the back of her throat. She could feel her ears burning red, the further he went with what he was saying—
You have no idea. Now you know how it feels if you’re the one who keeps taking the lead. About time, O Royal Dense Airheadedness… she thought to herself. While there was a smirk that was struggling to break free from her face, her mouth remained frozen in that unreadable smile as she blocked out everything around them, and focused solely on him, on Josh… what was he saying?
And why did he choose this particular place to admit that he was a dense clusterfuck?
Although I will admit, he never says shit like this… that’s quite a surprise. What made him suddenly open up about this, right here, in front of possibly the entire world, to tell me? What are you on??? She continued to herself; and while he could feel the slight tremble coming from his hold over her hands, she kept her gaze firmly locked on him, clearly listening to him—and staring right into his eyes as she did so.
Her impassive face was unreadable for the briefest of moments—at least until he’d suddenly mentioned something about “taking the initiative”…
Her mind completely blanked out the moment he’d gotten down to one knee, right in front of the camera—in front of everyone present, really. It was at this moment she realized both of her hands flew up to cover her mouth, as she was pretty much gaping at him with an open-mouthed expression (that was cunningly hidden by her hands) and her own eyes widened. She knew that the camera had zoomed in on her expression, and an unnatural hush fell over the theater…
Over at the Dragomir Ranch, Serena herself was watching the premiere of the Blue Dragon while fixing one of her broken hoverbikes, and had hit one of the few numbers on her speed-dial; the better to call Hiromi and tell her to turn on the television and go to this certain channel.
The moment she heard the accented voice, she then pointed at the television, before saying,
“Are… are you watching this, right now, Hiromi?!” she managed to get out, before the wrench in her other hand suddenly slipped out of her hold and accidentally landed on her foot!
Never mind if the pain shot through her leg like a hot iron, her own disbelief served to numb the sensation, before she began blurting and flustering and pretty much having the equivalent of a nervous breakdown on the phone line!
Back in another place, up on the second-floor break room of the Tsukishiro Izakaya, the entire staff was huddled around the flat-screen television, before someone hollered to get their manager, Hiromi.
While the telecast was live in Veria, it was delayed by the time it had reached the far-off region of Nue, and the wait staff had parted enough for Sakurako Hiromi to get a good view of the television screen, and see what exactly was going on.
Just like her daughter’s expression on the screen, the expression on Hiromi’s face was unreadable, as she’d come in at the exact same time that Josh had proposed to her one and only daughter!
Everyone else who was staring at the screen then turned as one to face her, before asking her the unanimous question:
“Hiromi-san! Is this for real?!”
Right then and there, a faint ringing noise was coming from her pocket, and Izumi’s mother, who’d gone pale from the shock that had shaken her, reached into her pocket with a trembling, fumbling hand.
As she slid the screen open to see who the caller was, she then took the call, her hands trembling…
The reaction on Izumi’s face was one for the ages, if one was to ask how she looked right then and there. Her own breath had gotten stuck in the back of her throat, and for a few moments she was unable to answer, because her mind had gone blank as the words he’d said echoed in her ears, ringing over and over.
“Nani? Matte... Matte, anata wa…” she began, not realizing that she’d slipped into her other language at that point. Her Common was completely and utterly failing her at this point in time, and she continued to blurt out the rest of the words in her second language without her realizing it.
“Anata... Shinkokuna koto wa dekimasen. Anatadesu ka?!” she blurted out, her hands finally leaving her face to reveal her face, which was now blushing a deep shade of red. Realizing that the camera was trained on her, she then looked at it straight, before continuing in that same language that sounded absolutely foreign to everyone else.
“Okāsan... Anata ga ima mite iru no ka dō ka wakarimasenga, watashi wa...” she managed to stammer out, words beginning to fail her before finally looking at Josh, who was holding up the box with a… was that a…
Her mouth fell open as she recognized what the rock on the ring was—who knew that he was going to take that passing joking remark seriously?! Her mind was unable to formulate coherent thoughts right now, and as everyone waited with bated breath for her answer, she then looked down at him, before finally deciding to kneel down and to face him squarely in the eye.
“J-Joshua Dragomir,” she began once more, the accent in her voice still there but not quite so. Even as she tried to find the right words, they were coming out in the wrong language—and it was at this point he’d notice that her own eyes were welling up with tears that she swore were not going to fall, no they were not, they were definitely not going to—
“Watashi wa anata ni tsutaeyou to shite ita koto o rikai suru no ni jūbun'na jikan ga kakarimashita ka? Watashi ga rīdo o totte saishūtekini anata ga watashitoisshoni ikisugite shimattanode, anata ga jama ni natte shimatta toki, dō yatte kanjimashita ka?” she continued, her voice breaking here and there as she struggled to keep talking, before wiping her eyes with the back of her hand.
There was a bit of a snide chuckling echoing in the back of her mind, but she ignored it for now; there was a more pressing matter that required her attention.
“Watashi wa rīdo o totte watashi ga totemo kimyō ni kanjita koto o anata ga kidzuku koto wa kesshite kangaenakatta... Kore o anata kara kiku no wa odorokida. Shikashi, anata wa nani o shitte imasu ka?” she added, after taking a deep breath in order to calm herself down.
Never mind if everyone else couldn’t understand what the fuck she was saying, she’d rather keep it that way and keep the crowd second-guessing. What she didn’t know was that there were several guests among the party who could understand what she was saying, and kept on looking at her, waiting for her to continue talking.
“Watashi wa kesshite gekitekina mono no tame no sainō o motte iru hito no tame ni anata o shibatta koto wa arimasen. Soshite anata wa zen sekai no nani no mae de sore o shita nodesu ka? Karera wa watashitachi o miru koto ga dekimasu... Shikashi, watashi wa mō ki ni shimasen,” she ended, taking another deep breath, trying to calm herself down and to force her brain to switch back to Common, just so everyone could understand what the hell she was saying.
“Tabun... Hontōni koko de anata no shitsumon o shita nodesu ka? Subete no basho no? Dō iu koto ka, watashiniha anata no kotae ga arimasu...” she continued on, keeping everyone guessing—but there was a part of the crowd that was becoming excited—because the few who could understand what she was saying was relaying it to everyone else, and the anticipation was spreading like wildfire.
“Watashi wa anata no soba de tatsu eiyo o anata ni sasagemasu. Kono seimei no naka de, aruiwa tsugi no dokode, watashitachi ga owaru tokoro de... Kono sora no shita de,” she muttered quietly, before throwing her arms around him and crying into his shoulder, her body shaking as she did so.
It was at this point the anticipation exploded, and the buzz began to spread—the ones who could understand what she’d said was basically her way of saying “yes”, and the word quickly spread like wildfire, before the reporter began looking around, asking several bystanders just what she’d said, since like most of everyone, they couldn’t understand what she’d been saying!
Translations for what she said, in chronological order:
"What? Wait... wait, are you..."
"You... you can't be serious. Are you?!"
"Mom... I don't know if you're watching right now, but... I'm..."
"It took you long enough to realize what I was trying to tell you? How I felt whenever I would take the lead and eventually end up getting you flustered instead because I was too forward with you...?"
"I never thought you'd realize that me taking the lead felt so strange... it's a surprise to hear this from you. But you know what?"
"I never pegged you for someone who had a flair for the dramatic. And you even did it in front of what, the whole world? They can see us... but I don't care anymore."
"Maybe... did you really time your question here? Of all places? Guess what, I have an answer for you..."
"I will do you the honor of standing by your side. In this life, or the next, or wherever we end up... under this sky."

He was nervous. I mean, wouldn't you be, asking potentially the most important question of your life to the love of your life? Honestly, he couldn't understand half of what she was saying. He knew a little bit, from what he'd looked up, but let's face it... He just hadn't really grasped her language as much as would be needed to understand all of this, that was just a pure fact. But he did catch some things here and there. But if what he caught wasn't clear, the hug she gave him and the reactions of the crowd told it. He would then smile, letting out a clear exhale in relief as he would wrap his arms around Izumi and whisper into her ear. "I love you."
That was all he knew to say, before gingerly helping slip the ring onto Izumi's finger. He would place a playful little kiss on her cheek as he ended up just pulling her into another tight hug and holding her tight... Words could not describe the joy he was feeling in this moment, he was just... He didn't know. For the first time in so long, he just felt so truly... Happy. Amongst the commotion, he would shoot Izumi a grin as he would release the hug and take her hand, pulling her along gently as they would escape the crowd and find somewhere secluded. Josh would take a moment to look Izumi in the eyes, and then pulled her into a long, loving kiss, just letting out every bit of passion, every bit of love that he held for her in one motion. Once it broke, he would move his sleeve and begin tapping his mother's number on the HoloWatch... I'LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO PROTECT IT

it's not that easy,存在の証明が他にないから Since Izumi’s language filter had completely shut off, she’d been reduced to basically rambling in her other language for a few more moments, at least until Josh had brought her back to the present with the three words that he would always tell her; but now, they held a much more significant meaning after what had transpired a few moments ago.
With the crowd around them going nuts, it was a miracle she’d still managed to keep her cool under all the fire; and that the same group of ladies who were eyeing her boyfriend—well, boyfriend no longer, but now fiancé—now had absolutely shocked looks on their faces.
Two can definitely play that game… she thought to herself, plastering her best shit-eating grin on her face as she smiled and waved for the camera, before eventually being led away by Josh to a more private part of the theater.
And boy, the kiss she got once they were out of sight of the cameras was one for the ages—at least until the honeymoon night, but of course that would come much later. After they had to break apart (but only because they had to come up for air) she then leaned against Josh, watching as he put in the call to break the news to their mothers…

Josh knew full well what Izumi was doing. He could see from the corner of his eye the shocked expressions of the folks who'd been giving him that -look- before, one that he at least was aware of. Even if only because he'd had to listen to his now-fiance complain about it for hours and hours on-end. Normally he wouldn't have noticed, and why would he? He had Izumi, he wasn't focusing on what other women were eyeballing. He was focusing on what the love of his life wanted. And she had clearly been very bothered by this apparent set of looks. It was the whole reason he had decided to propose here, in public, with them all there, and on television. He got it, he did. He got the almost sadistic sort of pleasure it was clear she was going to get from that sort of thing, and one that she made it clear was something she wanted in some way, shape or form. It was just funny that she likely wasn't expecting him to let her have that moment the way he'd brought it about. But he knew full well she was completely enjoying every bit of it. He could see the twitches of that shit-eating grin from the corners of her mouth, and smirked in turn. Of course she'd be living it up, he'd have been disappointed if she didn't take the time to enjoy herself in this moment. Either way, the two would make their way somewhere private and had their moment, before it was agreed they should probably call his mother - or Serena to Izumi. It'd been some time since they had been in touch with the elder redhead, so it was good to let her know. His HoloWatch would ring a bit before the holographic image of his mother would pop up, using her own HoloWatch, and Josh would wave cheerfully. "Hi Mom~""Hi, honey! And hi, Izumi! I haven't heard from you two in months, how are you? Where are you two?" She would begin to inquire warmly. "Well, we're at the premiere for the movie" Josh would explain. "Oh, I'm sorry I couldn't go, honey. Things got super busy over here-" Serena would begin, and Josh would shake his head. " No, no, it's fine, mom. Actually, do you think you could tune into the channel it's being broadcasted on? I left you the channel via text just in case" He would add. The redhead would tilt her head in confusion, but would slowly nod her head. Josh of course knew by now that the channel would be broadcasting the replay, since what he'd done would likely be making waves for a good while. He at least knew enough about showbusiness to understand. Now perhaps he could use it to his advantage... He slowly turned to look at Izumi with this massively cheeky and sly grin. It was clear that the blonde was up to mischief. Serena had disappeared from the screen for a moment as it was clear she was grabbing a remote. Of course, after about a minute, the two would hear something VERY LOUD. Which was the sound of a very shrill scream. Serena's face would re-appear, her eyes wide. "You're... You're..." "We're getting married!" Josh would chirp, grinning wide. Serena would shake her head, letting out a laugh as she appeared to get that she had been had. "You awful child, you're going to give me a heart attack one day"It was clear by the look on her face that she was under the impression that her son would be the death of her. Once she had gotten back her bearings, she took a deep breath, and smiled warmly. "Well, congratulations, you two!" She would chirp, and Josh grinned big. "Thank you!" He would respond, beaming from ear to ear. "I'll be sure to come visit soon. Looks like I have an excuse to now" Serena would add, before looking toward Izumi. "Anyway, I'd best get going. And, Izumi?" She began as she looked her dead in the face. "You don't have to call me Serena anymore, darling. Call me Mom."Josh scratched his head, chuckling lightly, before waving goodbye once Izumi had been given a chance to respond. "Alright, well we'd best get to the show. We'll call you after. Bye Mom!"With that, he hung up, and looked toward Izumi. I'LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO PROTECT IT

it's not that easy,存在の証明が他にないから After that rather passionate exchange, Josh had finally gotten around to calling his mother—well, her future mother-in-law, and from the way he was planning things, he was definitely up to something. She was just about to voice out her concerns with the gaping hole in the plan that he’d cooked up quite literally on the spot when she heard a very loud shrieking noise come from the HoloWatch—she was right on one thing, at least: with how far Veria was from Nue, the telecast was very much delayed by the time it reached the other region.
After hearing Serena’s blubbering on the other end, she then gave Josh a smack on the arm before hastily apologizing for what her fiancé had been up to. “I apologize on his behalf, Serena,” she began, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. “He just… I can’t apologize enough on how crazy he is from time to time, and—” she trailed off, rambling for a few moments until her last words registered.
Well, I can’t just do that outright! I mean, there’re still rituals and stuff to go through before I can actually formally call you that! She thought, hastily bowing in front of the HoloWatch feed before Josh spoke over her again. Geez, and there he goes again… she thought to herself, letting him handle everything before the call eventually ended.
“Okay, now that that fiasco’s over…” she mumbled, looking around and seeing that the cameras were still going off like all hell. “You mind if we duck down into the theater so we can, you know, actually get to the premiere itself? The cameras flashing is driving me nuts…” she added a few moments later, looking up and waving at the multitude that were now snapping pictures like mad for their respective publications.
