Michi | 16 (May 18) | Female / Demisexual |
Sinclair/Alto City | Civilian | Gardener |
Appearance
Standing at five feet tall Michi is a healthy weight for her height and has a slim, elegant figure. Michi has all the elegance and grace of a dancer and walks with a confident, if curious air. Her skin is very white as if she hasn’t spent much time in the sun and does burn rather easily as a result. Though it may not look like it, Michi has very well-toned muscles due to years of running and dancing and has a high endurance and stamina as a result. She has a several faint scars on her back and around her wrists and ankles as well as numerous needle marks all along both arms from a past she doesn’t quite remember. On her side, just above her hip is a burn in the shape of a heart set on top of a cross where it appears someone branded her...or a really cool tattoo, Michi prefers to think it’s the latter one.
Michi’s hair is a natural very light pink, almost white color that eases into a darker pink the longer it gets, in certain lighting her hair appears an almost vibrant. Reaching just past her shoulders, Michi doesn’t usually do much with her hair beyond tying it back with a few clips and hair bands to keep it out of her face. She loves the feel of the wind rushing through her hair and doesn’t often put her hair up as a result. Her large red eyes set off her light pink hair very nicely, dominating the majority of her features and is arguably one of the more attractive things about her. Her slim cheekbones and small nose serve to accent her eyes more which only adds to her fair features.
Michi likes to wear comfortable clothing that she can easily move around in; her tastes are simplistic in nature, preferring what’s comfortable versus what would be considered ‘in style’ and generally wears jeans with a t-shirt or whatever she happens to have on hand. She has never seen a reason to wear jewelry of any kind and actually finds it a little annoying to try and get the clasp shut. Michi does own a few necklaces and a charm bracelet but often forgets to put them on, leaving them to collect dust sometimes for days if not weeks at a time.

Michi has a playful and adventurous spirit and loves to explore new places, especially if it means having fun in the process. Since having landed in this strange land, she is a little uncertain and shy when initially meeting others but this initial shyness quickly falls away if she isn't given a reason to fear them. She can be rather compulsive and does things on the spur of a moment rather than think things through, something which could easily land her into trouble. Planning is boring to her though, things are much more fun if they just go out and do them rather than plan for a specific thing to happen. Life is full of surprises after all, and the best part is getting to find out what they are.
Despite her almost childlike nature, Michi is more mature than she lets on. She loves anything and everything to do with nature and is very caring and compassionate especially when it comes to taking care of the flora, fauna, and Pokemon around her and has an almost intrinsic knowledge of how to care for most flora. Though she may not fully understand what Pokemon are yet, she realizes that they are special and treats them like friends when she can. Her soft, warm nature is one side of her that is more often seen when she's let down her guard or isn't as focused on having fun. A bit of a bleeding heart, Michi thinks of herself last and will do anything she can to help out another person in need, even if it means giving away what little muns she has earned.
Even if she doesn't really admit it, Michi is a rather creative person and absolutely loves to dance. It is something that has always been special to her and is the one thing that she will absolutely refuse to give up...even if she can't exactly explain why it's so important. When dancing, Michi's movements can be described as graceful, almost serene even. Though she doesn't have a specific style of dance (or at least not one that she can recall), she can easily dance to any tune that is given or even dance with no music at all. It really doesn't matter to her if there's music or not, she can always dance to the music in her heart. Dancing is a means of self-expression, a way to help her think better and have fun at the same time. She can't quite explain it, but she always seems to be able to think better when she's moving or after just finishing a dance.
Though she would like to believe that she's fearless, Michi is rather terrified of being held captive. For reasons she can't quite explain, just the thought is enough to set off a panic attack that isn't easy to recover from. Then there's the matter of soldiers or...'police' that seem to scare her for reasons that she still can't quite figure out. Her lack of memory is another thing she worries about but tries not to dwell on it too much. Memories come back in time after all...even if she still feels like she's missing something important.
When faced with a situation where she has to fight or run away, Michi will always, always run. She's not the strongest person around and honestly prefers to talk rather than fight. That and Michi has no concept of lying whatsoever and will always tell the truth, regardless of the situation. If the truth hurts, then the person shouldn't have been doing that in the first place, or at least that is what Michi believes. However, if she is placed in a situation where she has to fight or one of her friends/loved ones gets hurt, she will do whatever she can in order to protect them.
History
Born near a lake, Michaela knew nothing of the disorder in the world at the time. The unicorn herd celebrated the new birth and took turns looking after the new filly lest she stray too close to the mountain where humans and other dangers lurked. From the very first years of her life, it was clear that Michi was a free-spirited, curious filly and loved to explore the world around her. She was warned to stay away from the mountain but rather than question this, Michi accepted the one rule, besides, there were plenty of places to explore in the woods.
It wasn’t until Michi was older that she found an odd creature near the lake and curious, walked up to it only to have it fall back surprised. Michi laughed at the creature’s clumsiness and decided to make this strange hairless creature her new ‘pet’ and led it to a stack of apples. The creature seemed harmless enough after all and they became fast friends as Michi showed her all her favorite places. It seemed that the herd was none the wiser too since Michi was careful to keep the creature, who called herself Oriana, out of sight. Michi didn’t know how the herd would react to her after all and it was better to keep her away than risk a lecture or worse.
One day, one of Michi’s herd-mates followed her and saw her playing with Oriana and confronted her later that day. At first, Michi was confused why her friend was so mad at her for playing with her ‘pet’ and said that Oriana wouldn’t hurt them. That was when Michi first found out about humans and the cruel things they did to ‘beasts’ as they referred to them. Michi didn’t want to believe it, couldn’t believe it and went to go find Oriana to at least take comfort in the fact that her ‘pet’ would never do those things for her. However, for some reason no matter how hard Michi looked, she couldn’t find Oriana again…almost like she had disappeared, or had been taken somewhere else. Michi would continue to search for her ‘pet’ for several weeks, even straying closer to the mountain than she had ever dared to before her herd-mates convinced her to give up the search; Oriana wasn’t coming back.
Despite allowing her herd-mates to believe that searching for Oriana was a lost cause, Michi never did give up searching for her friend. They just had to be wrong about her after all, there was no way that Oriana would just leave without so much as a goodbye! Something bad must have happened to her and that was why Michi never gave up looking, even if it meant straying too close to the mountainside. Her herd started to grow concerned about Michi’s constant exploring and made sure that there was always someone with her lest she get in trouble. This made it harder to look for Oriana but there had to be a way to keep searching for her, for all Michi knew, she could be in serious trouble.
It took a while before Michi was able to come up with a plan on how to search the mountainside for Oriana even with someone following her around everywhere she went. She just had to lose them first, and considering how thick the woods were, it was easy to get lost in them. One day, Michi convinced her herd-mate to play hide and seek with her when she really planned to search the mountainside for Oriana one last time. If she couldn’t find her today, then she would give up the search for good, there was just one last place Michi absolutely had to check. While her ‘babysitter’ was hiding from her, Michi took the opportunity to go onto the mountainside, something she had never dared to do before because of the danger she had been warned about since she was young.
Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan as hunters, who had heard the rumors about unicorn sightings, were on the mountain that day. Curious, Michi thought that the humans that might know where her friend had gone and approached them. These humans had strange things with them though and before Michi could even try to ask them where her friend might have gone, they threw ropes at her. Confused and frightened, Michi tried to get away back to the safety of her home but then a hunter threw a rope around her neck and knocked her off her feet. More ropes were tied around her neck as the humans restrained her and pointed sharp sticks at her as if they were afraid she was going to hurt them. As terrified as Michi was, she knew better than to put up a fight on the mountainside. It was dangerous enough just trying to traverse the mountain, much less trying to fight the ropes and the sharp sticks pointed at her.
As soon as they were off the dangerous mountain, Michi did everything she could to try and get free of the humans holding the ropes but even then, she was dragged kicking and screaming to some kind of cage in the city. There were a lot of humans here but none of them were nice like her friend had been, in fact, they called her a beast and seemed afraid of her almost. Michi was the one that was terrified though, she had just been dragged away from the only home she had ever known, poked by sharp sticks, and put in a cage where everyone seemed to gawk at her. Why hadn’t she just listened to her herd…even if she never saw Oriana again, being free would have been much better than this.
Michi didn’t know how long she stayed in the cage before a different human came for her. This one seemed nicer and at first, Michi thought that this human could be a friend like Oriana was before. The human let her out of the cage but when he tried to put a strange contraption, she backed away from the strange thing, not wanting to be hurt again. It took time before Michi allowed the human to put the thing, which was apparently a harness, on her but the metal in her mouth scared her and she reared, gnashing at the thing trying to get it out of her mouth. Nothing she did worked however and the harder she tried, the more it hurt. The human took it out at last but Michi quickly ran away from them, not wanting that thing anywhere near her. She was taken to the cage, or what the human called a stable, again and given some strange straw food that the human called hay. It was sweet, almost like the grass she ate back home but she was grateful for it even if the human had terrorized her with the scary metal thing earlier.
The human would leave her alone for a few days to get used to the stable but Michi was quickly getting restless. She was used to being able to run and explore as much as she wanted and tried several times to knock down the walls that kept her in place. The human didn’t bring back hay as often, in fact she didn’t see anybody for a while unless it was to fill her water dish. When the human finally did come back, it was with the scary contraption again which promptly sent Michi to the back of the stable to get as far away as she could from the thing. Instead of trying to put it on her, the human simply opened the door to let her out. Michi immediately bolted out of the door and galloped through the pasture, enjoying her newfound ‘freedom’. It would be hours before the human appeared again, this time with apples which Michi all too eagerly ate from him. Apples were her favorite treat and the human quickly figured that out and used them as a bribe for the scary rope thing.
It would be weeks before the human showed some other humans in that pet Michi and called her pretty and some other things she didn’t understand. Before she knew what was happening, she was being taken away by the new humans and led to a different stable. These humans took care of her and at first Michi did enjoy it, it was nice to be able to run again after all almost like she used to but she still longed for home and the endless places to explore. One day though, the new humans tried to put something strange on her back that they called a saddle. The other human had done the same thing, but Michi had never liked it. She wanted to run without being directed or told how fast she was allowed to go. Not only that but the humans had a long rope looking thing with them as well and though Michi was suspicious and leery of it, let the human on her back just like she had been taught. Then there was a sharp sting and Michi shrieked and bolted, trying to get the thing off her back that had bitten her like that.
Before she knew what was going on, ropes were put around her neck just like the first time she had been taken which did nothing to calm her panicked state of mind. Humans were yelling at her and she tried her best to get away from them but that only caused more shouting. Michi was taken away to a different human, this one was meaner than the last one and constantly hurt her which only made her fight back. Every day brought more terror and confusion and Michi never knew if she was going to get a nice human that brought her treats and sweet things or a mean human that hurt her. She tried to run away every chance she got, desperate to get back home where the humans wouldn’t be able to hurt her anymore but that just made the humans be meaner to her than before. They started to keep her in the stable more often and made sure that there was always a rope around her neck before they let her out. The rope scared Michi more than the pain however because she remembered all too well how they were used to drag her away from her home.
Eventually the humans sent her to a different place that had more humans living in it than she had ever seen before. Michi was curious if her friend was among those in this place but never had the chance to ask when more humans cornered her and dragged her to a place where she could smell blood. This terrified her and she fought back as much as she could, rearing and kicking at anything and everything in an attempt to get away. Then another human that smelled familiar stopped the men and surprisingly they gave them to her. Immediately, Michi hid behind the familiar human and nuzzled her when she realized that it was Oriana after all. After all this time, Michi had finally found her friend that she’d been searching for since she had left her home so long ago. To say she was happy was and understatement as she playfully nickered and nuzzled Oriana. The mean humans seemed surprised to see Michi acting like this, but Michi snapped at them to make them back off. This was her friend, and they weren’t going to take Oriana away from her too if Michi had anything to say about it.
After that, Oriana taught Michi how to shift into her human form, something which surprised her when she suddenly had two legs instead of four like she was used to. It took a little while before she was able to walk, albeit unsteadily on two feet like the rest of the humans but she was able to chase after Oriana easily enough. For once she wasn’t confined to a stable and was able to be free and Michi loved it, even more so since she was able to play with Oriana again. Oriana started to teach her how to speak the way humans did and Michi’s naturally curious nature made learning come easily to her. She wanted to know more and enjoyed learning, though Michi still didn’t particularly like being poked by sharp things for some work things Oriana needed from her and stubbornly tried to avoid it. These things were called ‘experiments’ apparently and though Michi doesn’t understand why she has to be the one getting poked, and honestly tries to hide from the sharp things, she can usually be bribed to behave with some sweets or nice things.
One day she was out shopping with Oriana, excited to see all the different things that were there because of the festival. Unfortunately, what should have been an exciting day out turned out to be anything but as fighting broke out in the streets. The stench of blood was overwhelming and considering she was a beast, Michi turned into a target as well. What happened next was all a blur to the unicorn as she quickly shifted into her unicorn form. Now in her true form, she was able to react to any attack more quickly than in her human form and despite how grave her injuries were, Michi managed to escape the chaos with Oriana in tow before collapsing.
When she woke up again, it was back in her own home somehow with little to no memory of what had happened during the chaos. The only thing she could recollect was that something had happened to Oriana and despite her injuries, Michi bolted upright frantically in search of her best friend. Thankfully it seemed that Oriana was safe after all even though she didn’t seem too pleased at what had happened. She had somehow shifted into human form while she slept but…perhaps that was because the two-legged form had become almost second nature to her now. Once she had been assured that Ori was alright, Michi let herself relax and quickly fell back asleep. It would be awhile before the unicorn fully recovered but it seemed that not long after the chaos, a vampire came to find Oriana. A nightmare had awoken Michi that night when he appeared and again, she leapt to Oriana’s defense only to find that the vampire was a herdmate named Marco. That night, Michi learned more about Oriana through listening to the conversation until Marco left.
After that, plans were made to retrieve Carmina who seemed to be living near the place Michiko had first met Oriana. Excited to visit her old home again, Michi ran as fast as she could back towards the place she used to call home. However, since her injuries had not fully healed the journey took longer than she had wanted and collapsed almost as soon as they had found an inn to stay in while Oriana went to go find her sister. Michi would rest for the better part of the day before deciding to see if any of her old herdmates still lived on the mountain. She was initially planning to be back by nightfall but once she reached her old home and found that nobody was there, she decided to investigate and what she found however made her sick. Bones littered the place Michi had once called home and there was no sign of life to be found. Devastated, Michi stayed there for a while mourning the loss of what she had once known before heading down the mountain much more slowly than before. It seemed that Oriana had yet to return to the inn regardless so Michi hadn’t been missed, that was a good thing. It gave Michi time to grieve and gather her strength for what would certainly be a long journey home should she have to carry two people on her back.
As it turned out, they wouldn’t return to the capitol for some time yet until things died down from the rebellion. When they did, Carmina went with them back to the capitol. Michi didn’t know much about Oriana’s sister, but she seemed nice and friendly. After they returned home, things seemed to go back to normal for a time, at least until something bad seemed to happen to Carmina. Not even Michi’s healing magic worked on her and she seemed to get sick all the time. It was distressing to say the least especially when Carmina seemed to grow more upset after something occurred to her. It turned out that she was pregnant and though Michi was excited at the prospect of having a little foal running around, Carmina didn’t share her sentiments which…confused Michi. Still, she would do her best to help Oriana’s herdmate and tried to heal what aches she could since the foal-to-be made her sick quite often. One time Carmina brought home someone who she said helped her and over time seemed to grow quite attached to the helper person. Still, the unicorn did her best to make sure everyone was safe and happy. Nobody was going to be hurt as long as she was around!
Honestly, Michi was glad that she had been kept busy since they left. Between caring for Carmina and helping Oriana out, she had had little time to think about what she had witnessed back on the mountain. She couldn’t hide the truth forever though, and eventually Oriana managed to drag it out of her. Michi’s home was gone, and as far as she knew, she was the only survivor. She tried to tell herself that it was alright, that she had a new family now but that didn’t erase the pain or the guilt she had over the possibility, however slight, of leading her family’s attackers right to them. Michi didn’t know what she had expected after she told Oriana the truth but when she felt Ori’s arm around her, she knew it was going to be alright. Even if it hurt knowing that she was most likely the only survivor of her herd, it would be alright. She had a new family after all and if nothing else, she would protect them.
As time went on, they would move to a new home in another guild. Oriana was happier here for whatever reason, which Michi was glad about. The other herdmate was even found and it seemed that everyone was happy and together again. It was hard to be so close to where her home used to be but Michi did her best to keep busy. Oriana had said it would be alright and Michi tried to remember that and be happy like everyone else. Eventually, the foals were born and given the names of Orion and Azalea.
Life had begun to feel normal again, if there could be a ‘normal’ for anything after all they’d been through. Oriana had even let her help out at the lab more often lately! Unfortunately, due to a strange sequence of events and a spell that went awry, Michi was swept away into what appeared to be a portal and woke up in a forest with little memory of what had happened or where she was. The only thing she remembered was her name and that she was…missing something or…someone? There was also something…strange, that she couldn’t quite put her finger on but perhaps it was because there were all sorts of strange creatures around, and somehow, she just knew they were worried about her. A small pink, deer creature even came up to her and nosed her, apparently wanting Michi to follow her. It was…strange, but, what else was she going to do?
The deer creature led her to where there were a lot of other of the same kind of creature and…were those older stags or…well, either way they seemed friendly enough and even gave her some berries to eat. Wherever she had ended up in, Michi was glad that the deer were friendly and trying to help her, even if she still felt like she was missing something important. The deer creature that had helped her even stayed with her and showed her around the forest and other places around her home. It was during one of these explorations that Michi found what looked like a cave and ended up getting lost in what appeared to be a network of tunnels. It was when they were trying to find the exit again that Michi saw a strange light…coming towards them? When the light neared them it appeared to be a fire pony…that wanted to help them? Well, if it could help them get out of the dark tunnels, that would be good. With the fire pony leading the way, they would eventually found a pokecenter where the local nurse would help Michi and the two Pokemon following her. The nurse was really helpful and explained where she was and what she could do, even told her that Sinclair was a good place to find work and gave her directions to find it when it stopped by next.
The train city honestly scared her at first because it was so big and looked like a giant monster that was going to devour her. However, after repeated assurances that it was safe, Michi reluctantly got on the huge train only to find that there was so much to look at and do in Sinclair. The deer creature and fire pony even followed her onto the train and after quite a bit of wandering around, they stumbled upon a garden. There were so many plants around that looked like they were well-taken care of that Michi couldn’t help but smile. Walking around the garden, she noticed a plant that looked like it was going to fall over from lack of support. Well…if she could find a stick then she could fix it, maybe some cloth too. It took some searching to find the items she needed, but after a little bit she was able to give the plant the support it needed and tie it loosely to the stick so it would grow upright. To her surprise, the local gardener was impressed with what she’d done (even if it didn’t seem like a big deal to her) and offered her a job. Michi accepted the job excitedly and thanked the gardener, whose name she would learn later was Haiiro, before going to explore the city some more.
Upon arriving at a nearby park, a child noticed that Michi still had Pokemon out and asked if she had caught the Ponyta and Deerling. Confused, Michi didn’t know what the child was referring to. Catch them? They were her friends? The child laughed, brought out a couple pokéballs, and gave them to her. The fire pony and deer creature seemed excited to see them and pressed the pokéballs at the same time, disappearing in a beam of red light. Michi however panicked when her friends suddenly disappeared while the child laughed and explained that they weren’t gone, they were in the pokéballs. They…. huh? This…place was really weird. When the child showed her how to open the balls again, Michi was relieved to say the least of things and finally named the fire pony Sunchaser and the deer creature Azalea. Since then, Michi has tried to learn more about what these ‘Pokémon’ are even if it still seems really weird to her that they could be caught by small balls that looked more like big marbles than anything else.
It wasn’t until Michi was older that she found an odd creature near the lake and curious, walked up to it only to have it fall back surprised. Michi laughed at the creature’s clumsiness and decided to make this strange hairless creature her new ‘pet’ and led it to a stack of apples.

Skills (3/11)
Empathy (Major, 2) - Michi is capable of experiencing the emotions of others within 100 square feet (30 square meters). She is also able to focus their attention on specific individuals and focus on their emotions exclusively, separate out those emotions from their own, and shut her power down entirely. Though she is still growing, Michi will eventually be able to distinguish between five or six people or Pokemon with this clarity at once, anything more than this gives her a headache or gets too confusing. Michi is able to sway emotions to a minor degree fairly easily such as easing others or inspiring happier emotions. Pushing for anything more than a 'nudge' in the right direction however is draining and takes more focus to accomplish. She is able to calm a startled Pokemon or soothe a worried friend with very little effort, though often this will only set them on the path to calming down as opposed to being a full cure. Calming an entire room of panicking individuals or stirring a room to riot, on the other hand, is possible but incredibly taxing, requiring active focused effort that may cause headaches and generally requiring time to rest afterward.

Faller (1) – Coming from a medieval fantasy setting, Michi is not at all familiar with what Pokemon are or any of the aspects of this universe. Technology is very new to her and is something she may not fully master without patience and the help of someone willing to teach her. It will take some time before Michi fully understands what Pokemon are and what her place is in this universe now.
