Appearance
Standing at 5'11," Jazz has grown a little since the transformation and has a well-defined medium muscular build thanks to his active lifestyle. His olive tinged skin ensures that he won't burn despite how long he spends in the sun. Jazz's brilliant green eyes are the focal point of his features, accented only by his long cheekbones and fine features that have just a little bit of dark stubble. He has long since given up on trying to do anything with his hair and has since cut it to a more tolerable length. It still is very much wild and untamed but at least it can't get pulled near as easily.
With his time in the gang back home, Jazz has accumulated numerous scars, none of which he is proud of but at least finds a little more tolerable. One of the most notable scars he has is a nasty gash on his side from when he landed on something sharp during a fight. There are three large X symbols on his forearms, each of which looks like they have been scarred over several times. Jazz likes to joke that it makes him triple X squared but that's mostly to prevent anyone from asking the obvious question. As part of his initiation into the gang, she was given a tattoo that covers the majority of his back, covering more of his scars in the process. The tattoo holds a symbolic meaning to Jazz but doesn't like to explain it to many people and is liable to snap at those who try to push for an explanation.
Despite the changes, Jazz's attire still hasn't changed much. He still favors hoodies and has a rather large collection of them with various funny or sarcastic expressions on them. Jazz favors what's considered comfortable and practical over fashionable. His sense of style is generally Hot Topic goth and wears clothes and other attire almost exclusively bought at the store. This includes fishnet gloves, hole-filled jeans, spike collars, and anything else that Jazz finds cool. There are very few occasions when he feels the need to wear makeup but usually only uses eye-liner for emphasis. Well, unless it's Halloween, then it's just for fun.
Personality
At first glance, Jazz looks and acts like a delinquent. She doesn’t warm up to others easily and with her tendency to say the first thing that comes to mind, isn’t exactly the friendliest person around. Socially awkward at best, Jazz isn’t the best at being able to express her emotions. Having spent most of her life around guys, and the better part of five years in a gang, her answer to many of her feelings is to lash out. This would include embarrassment, worry, anxiety, or any other emotion that isn’t considered happiness. She is loud, blunt, and straightforward and has almost no filter when someone asks her a question.
Stubborn to a fault, Jazz is very strong willed and has an extremely short fuse. Loud and sometimes obnoxious, she is one of those people that refuses to let herself be backed into a corner and will rebel harshly against anyone that tries. She has had a bad experience with blindly following someone just because they made her feel special. At one time, she followed one person with blind loyalty that never once wavered until she was faced with a decision she couldn’t make. Since that time, she guards her heart carefully and keeps it under lock and key lest anyone takes advantage of her like that again.
Should anyone get past the walls around her heart however, they will find that Jazz is compassionate, loyal, and would walk through fire for whoever she cares for. It is one of her greatest strengths and greatest faults rolled into one because Jazz has no sense of self-preservation. If confronted with losing one of her precious friends or even her Pokemon, she will fight for them, heedless of her injuries to get them back. Jazz is reckless, a daredevil, and an adrenaline junkie. Faced with a challenge that appears to be deadly, Jazz would jump without a second thought because it’s fun and the thrill of it makes her feel alive regardless of how much the consequences might hurt.
Despite the way she looks, Jazz is very sensitive. She may be loud, blunt, and too proud to ask for help on many occasions, but this is just a mask to keep people from guessing the truth. Underneath everything else, Jazz is depressed, anxious, paranoid, and constantly worries about her family and anyone else that is close to her. She is prone to thinking the worst scenario whenever something doesn’t go according to plan which usually ends in her believing that she was left behind on purpose. Her self-worth is zilch, and though others may say otherwise, Jazz believes that she is ugly, worthless, and some part of her believes that she’s a curse. Guilt still plagues her over how she put her family in danger and tends to keep most everyone at arm’s reach. If they don’t get close, then they won’t get hurt. At the same time, Jazz yearns for someone to be close to, to know the ‘real’ her and not get hurt. It’s a contradiction that Jazz won’t admit even to herself and refuses to believe that she is actually worthy of being loved.

History
As the only child born to Azalea and Lionel Johnson in a faraway land with a functioning monarchy, Jasmine Maria was the apple of her parents’ eyes. Both her parents worked but despite being busy, made time to spend with their daughter. Lionel was a knight working directly under the royals of the time and would come home to his wife, Azalea, who worked in her mother’s shop as a seamstress. For as far back as Jasmine could remember, she was her daddy’s princess and always loved hearing tales about how he had saved the day or if he’d seen any royalty that day. No matter how busy he was at the castle, some of her favorite times were with her dad, playing the damsel in distress or even going on grand adventures to save the day.
Growing up, Jasmine spent a lot of time with her Grandma Carmina and Great Aunt Oriana. She chased after her older cousin, Orion from the time she could walk. He was like an older brother to her and while her other cousins were fun, they just weren’t as cool as Orion. As she got older, she started to take after her grandma and got interested in sewing. It was fun, and she got to spend more time with Orion and learned how to make new things. Over time, Jasmine began to grow interested in what Oriana was doing with science or whatever new thing she was working on at the time. It was interesting and she enjoyed doing it, even more than sewing or whatever her mom and grandma were constantly doing.
Soon enough, she started to get bored more easily with sewing or ‘girly’ things that her mother enjoyed. Many times, she would come home with her dress all muddy or with some kind of tear in it from when she was spending time outside or pretending that she was fighting with a sword just like her dad. Lionel thought it was endearing and encouraged Jasmine to be herself while Azalea grew tired of constantly having to wash or patch up her daughter’s clothing because she was always chasing after the boys, climbing trees, or getting herself into some kind of trouble.
At school, Jasmine was a happy child and loved learning about science and the mechanics of how things worked. Though she wasn’t the most popular girl in school, she was one of the smartest and caught on quickly to whatever she put her mind to. She got good grades in school and loved going home to show her parents what she had been learning. The only bump in the road where school was concerned was her teacher’s concern for how often she followed the boys around, roughhousing with them and coming home with numerous cuts, scrapes and bruises. Jasmine was adventurous and she loved to explore and have fun, even if it meant getting a little hurt in the process. It was at school that she got to know a boy named Luke who happened to be Orion’s friend too, but he was nice and they got along well. She liked playing games with both of them and even beat them a few times (or they might have let her win) much to her delight.
As Jasmine’s ‘adventures’ grew more dangerous and she started to come home with more scrapes and bruises, Azalea told Lionel to do something about it. After talking with Jasmine, who now only answered to Jazz, didn’t change anything, Lionel decided to give her a Shinx that Jazz immediately decided to call Kovu. From that day forward, Jazz and Kovu were inseparable and spent almost every day with him when she wasn’t hanging out with her dad. Lionel wasn’t around that often because he was busy at the castle more often lately. Jazz got the feeling something was going on at the castle but dad didn’t talk about it even though her mother looked worried almost every time he left home now.
To make matters worse, Orion was sent to prison and this time not even Aunt Oriana would take him out no matter how much she begged. Her dad tried to comfort her as much as possible but it was like losing her older brother and Jazz was honestly terrified for him. She spent more time at Luke’s after that, not wanting to be alone but...she couldn’t be around Aunt Oriana right then, not even to learn more about science. Indi was cool too and taught her a lot of things about science that Aunt Oriana hadn’t and Jazz caught on quickly, enjoying her time with Indi even with Luke being so sick occasionally. It helped to take her mind off Orion and the whole mess at home, even if nothing seemed like it was going to be alright with Orion gone.
About a month after Jazz’s 16th birthday, there was a rebellion that Lionel was caught in the middle of. He had apparently been in charge of protecting the royals that day and was caught up in the crossfire and killed. The next month or so would go by in a blur with well-wishers coming by what felt like all hours of the day. Jazz went in a downward spiral and finally just had enough of people saying how sorry they were about what had happened. Without a word to anyone, Jazz ran away from home, not really caring where she ended up. The only thing that mattered was getting as far away from that accursed house and all those people. She didn’t even see her attacker until it was too late and the next thing she knew, there was a knife to her throat as they demanded everything she had.
Whatever happened next, Jazz wasn’t completely aware of mostly because she made the idiotic move to knee one of the men in the ground. Next, she was on the ground and the world was fading in and out while there was a lot of yelling and fighting and…. she blacked out after that. When she woke up next, it was on a mattress in an unfamiliar room and her head was killing her. There was someone in the room with her and they explained that the boss would want to see her. A boss? What was going on here? The boss explained that she had gotten in the middle of a turf war and was now being recruited because of what she’d done to the knife guy. Jazz would join the gang with little thought, wanting to repay them for saving her back there.
In the weeks that followed, Jazz didn’t go home, didn’t even tell her family where she was. At least until after the initiation was done. Being part of the gang was fun and it made her feel whole again. It was like the gang had become her new family that she could be herself with and not be yelled at for tearing a dress or ruining a piece of clothing. Just because her mother was a seamstress like grandma didn’t mean that she had to be as well. Jazz started hanging out with Luke more often, it was easy to talk with him after all and even on days that he was too sick to do anything she could at least keep their minds off of whatever was bothering them. Luke was one of the few people that she could be around, just like her new friends in the gang, friends that Luke didn’t necessarily approve of but what did he know about them anyway.
As she spent more time with the gang, Jazz started pushing herself more to keep up with the rest of the guys. There were days when she could barely move because she was in so much pain but did so anyway. They kept goading her into pushing herself harder in order to make herself faster, better, and stronger. She even started to dress more like a boy and almost always wore a hoodie, if only to cover all of her injuries. Whenever she was home, Jazz would end up getting into a huge fight with her mom. Azalea didn’t like her new friends or the way her only daughter was staying out at all hours of the night. It wasn’t fair that her mom was against her friends and though Luke seemed to understand her, none of them could understand that the gang was only looking out for her. The gang pushed her because they wanted what was best, and it was working she was getting stronger every day and even helped her get a tattoo in honor of her father (not that mom would ever find out).
It wasn’t until Aunt Oriana lectured her that Jazz even tried to make amends with her mom. She didn’t like hearing someone she looked up to comparing her actions to Orion’s. Just because Orion was in jail didn’t mean that he was a mistake or make him bad. The things that the gang did were harmless enough anyway and nobody got hurt...badly; the worst thing she’d done is steal a couple of harmless trinkets...and the time she got drunk or sabotaged that one person’s cart. OK, so maybe not everything was harmless but the threat of going to jail didn’t seem so bad. How could it be if Orion was there and the gang would get her out so it wasn’t that big of a deal.
This was perhaps the first-time Jazz ever shouted back at Oriana but in the end, Jazz was guilted into sticking around home a little more. The tension didn’t really go away, and Azalea seemed to not know what to do with her anymore. Jazz tried to be home more often but quickly fell back into her old habits and used Luke as an excuse to stay away from home…when she wasn’t hanging out with the gang that is. To make matters worse, Azalea was seeing someone else and well, Jazz simply couldn’t stand him. It felt like her dad was being replaced and she couldn’t stand it, was she the only one that missed him?
Even if it was hard work keeping up with the gang, Jazz could tell she was growing stronger and starting to be able to keep up the other guys. Luke didn’t like the gang and kept telling her to stop pushing herself too hard but regardless, he would always help her when she didn’t want to go home. No matter how hard it was to move the next day, Jazz still tried her best and learned to put up a strong facade in front of the guys when she felt like she couldn’t move. It was either continue to push herself or be left behind so what choice did she have?
Still, Luke was pretty much the only person Jazz felt like she could tell anything to and maybe even had feelings for but…it never went far. She didn’t want to ruin things between them and besides, he was older and saw her as a good friend more than anything else. The gang was important to her though and no matter how difficult things became, she wasn’t going to give up. Perhaps it was foolish. She was practically killing herself trying to keep up with the other guys but...Jazz just couldn’t give up being a part of something so much bigger than herself. Being part of the gang was one of the few things that made her feel whole again and she just...couldn’t give it up, not even for Luke.
One day, everything changed when the Rebels took control of the gangs, joining the rival gangs together to create a large force. Soon enough, the gang cared more about bringing down the nobles than having fun like they used to. Jazz didn’t like it one bit but…she tried to justify it as revenge against the nobles that hurt her grandma long ago. But…her father had once defended the nobles, could they really be so bad? More often than not, Jazz found herself hanging out with Luke rather than go home and face her mother. They would talk about everything and nothing, it almost became a game of sorts for Luke to try and convince her to leave the gang to which Jazz would offer up another excuse to refuse.
Under the Rebel leader, she started to take on more dangerous missions and grew more reckless to try and impress them. There were many times when Jazz thought that these new ‘missions’ that the Rebels gave her were hard, dangerous even and… they felt wrong. But whenever she complained about them to one of the original gang members, they would always guilt her into compliance. This was just the way things were now and nothing Jazz could do or say would change that. One day, as a supposed ‘reward’, she was given a Honedge after a successful one that…didn’t really like to be used for the missions. It was a running joke amongst the Rebels around her that the Honedge was dysfunctional but… Galant didn’t seem all that bad. He even liked her so… well, whatever he listened to her so the Honedge was somewhat useful.
To make matters worse, there was increased pressure to kill now. Jazz didn’t want to kill anyone, especially when it could be one of the nobles that her dad worked with. She avoided it as long as she could, constantly making excuses and reasons as to why she couldn’t kill them. Even when her friends went to set fires and do other things that inevitably led to more death and destruction, she couldn’t quite bring herself to do anything like that. On more than one occasion, she left a child alive or helped them to escape while the others were distracted. Somehow, the leader found out and instead of punishing her, told her that if she didn’t listen to them, her own family and friends would be next. Unable to do what was asked of her, Jazz decided to run away and hide. If they couldn’t find her, her family would be safe, right? Right.
Jazz didn’t make it very far however and decided to hide out in Luke’s greenhouse until things quieted down at least a little. The Rebels wouldn’t be in charge forever would they? They had to stop sometime…and then she’d come back, it’d be just like old times. Besides, Luke’s greenhouse and fruit and vegetables in it that she could live off of for a time. What she hadn’t counted on was Luke realizing she was hiding out in the greenhouse and setting traps to catch her. At first, they started out laughably small, like he was expecting to catch some small animal to be caught in the traps. Either way, she was able to outsmart all the traps with ease before he’d set more complex ones. It became a game of cat and mouse after a time and Jazz actually began to look forward to beating the traps.
This would last for about a month before she would grow too weak and slipped up, making a stupid mistake and ending up caught in a cage. Luke’s expression when he saw her was… something else, but after talking to him, Jazz convinced him not to tell anyone where she was. It took a while before Luke was able to drag the truth out of her, but eventually she broke down and explained everything that had happened since the Rebels took over. Jazz didn’t know what she expected him to do or say but he was there for her and told her that it would be alright…somehow.
What Jazz didn’t know was that Orion had broken out of jail while she had been hiding out and Luke was in contact with him again. When Orion came back home, Jazz was shocked at first, unable to believe at least at first that he was really there after all this time. Clinging to him, Jazz spilled out everything that had happened since he’d been gone including what the Rebels had threatened if she didn’t do what they had said. Orion hadn’t changed at all, and even said that it would be ok, that he would fix it. Jazz didn’t question him, but was instantly so relieved that she couldn’t do anything but thank him.
She never did know how Orion fixed it, but the Rebels stopped bothering her after that and Orion even helped her family, and Luke’s family leave after warning them that it wasn’t safe there anymore. They would leave for Alola shortly after that while Jazz would stay behind despite Orion trying to make her go with them. After everything she had done, Jazz simply couldn’t leave with her family…she simply couldn’t face them again, didn’t even say goodbye to them until prompted to by both Orion and Luke. Even with that, Jazz was only able to send a letter to them explaining everything that had happened and how sorry she was.
Once everyone had left, Jazz sunk into a depression so bad that she just simply couldn’t get out of bed. Everywhere she looked, there was a constant reminder of her failure as a daughter and how Orion needed to come back to bail her out. Eventually, Orion said that they were leaving and Jazz complied without a word. There was nothing left for her there anyway and maybe a change of pace would be a good thing. Once in Veria, Jazz was impressed with the huge train city and eventually got a job as a mechanic. It was…kinda nice being able to do something she liked, even if she was far away from home or anyone she’d ever known. At least Orion was with her now, that would be enough, or at least, that’s what Jazz kept telling herself.
Pokémon
Skills (5/11)
Versatile (1) - Trained in both Aura and Physical skills
Aura Sight (Minor, 1) - Jazz is able to see a person's aura fairly clearly as long as there is no obstruction. He can discern colors and patterns easily enough at a close distance and if he concentrates enough he's able to stretch his aura vision to see aura further away. This has the tendency to hurt his eyes if Jazz does this for too long. Though he's still new to aura, Jazz is able to easily tell the aura of his friends and family apart from others.
Agility (Major, 2) - Jazz is very agile and can move in ways that makes it very difficult to hit them. With their time in the gang, they learned the hard way that it's better to avoid getting hit. As a result, they can jump, climb, and do any number of feats in order to avoid hits as well as bend in ways that look like it should be impossible. They have trained their body to be flexible and are able to do acrobatic stunts should they be so inclined to do so. This usually is limited to showing off or trying their hand at parkour, but it is also useful to squeezing in and out of tight places.
Endurance (Minor, 1) – Though this isn’t something he’s trained in per say, Jazz can take a lot more damage than the average person and remain standing. He has a high pain tolerance and won’t let minor things like scrapes, cuts, bruises, or even mother nature’s fury stand in his way. Blizzards and sandstorms are minor annoyances at best and things like a sprained ankle hurt, but aren’t worth stopping to take care of. Jazz can be a little reckless, but it has built his endurance to more than a normal person could handle. It’s more likely that his body will give up before she does.
