Orion was feeling pretty great. So many of his Pokemon looked to be in tip top shape, and he’d be lying if he denied he was proud. Still, for as many as he had, there also seemed to be a constant flow of new Pokemon coming in to be trained up. He supposed that was both the price and luxury of working under a quote unquote breeder heh. Hell, he wasn’t even complaining really. Wandering down the tunnel way with his hands behind his head, Orion hummed softly.
Another Rockruff padded next to him, occasionally looking up at him before looking forward again. He didn’t exactly know what he was looking for or what his trainer was looking for, but for as comfortable as Orion seemed to be wandering down here, he could only guess this was some kind of habitual thing or something. A small whine escaped from him causing Orion to glance sideways and raise an eyebrow. The Rockruff fidgeted and straightened. Nope! Nothing was wrong! He was fine, see? Yeah totally fine.
Something bumped down the tunnel way, and a sharp noise escaped from the Rockruff. Orion smirked. “We’re not alone down here~” he mused. “Get ready.”

The noises slowly increased, and the hairs on the back of Orion’s neck started to stand on end in anticipation. The Rockruff at his side lowered himself somewhat and growled deep in his throat. What came around the corner, however, had both of them pausing very briefly. A Grumpig paused in mid motion as he did so and squinted at the human and the Rockruff. Hmph! What were intruders doing in his territory. Swerving around, he started up a Teeter Dance. The Rockruff yipped as the world suddenly started to move in ways he wasn’t expecting.
A small, singular ‘fuck’ escaped from Orion as he fished out another Pokeball. A Herdier burst forth and stomped her feet briefly. “Thunder Wave,” Orion ordered. The Herdier sparked with electricity before shooting it at the Grumpig, effectively paralyzing him where he stood. The Grumpig squirmed but was effectively caught that turn.
“Rockruff, focus,” Orion called. The pup closed his eyes and let his ears perk up instead. “Crunch the Grumpig.” A small, quick nod was given before the Rockruff went running forward, effectively finding and chomping into the Grumpig right after. The latter cried out and swatted. Glowing with a Power Gem, he shot it off towards the Rockruff. Still dizzy, the pump was unable to defend himself and took the hard hit with a sharp cry. The Herdier snarled in irritation, but a quick “Wait.” from Orion had her standing upright again. Fine.
Right after this, however, the Rockruff snapped out of his confusion and growled. The Grumpig, unfortunately, was paralyzed yet again. “Crunch, once more!” Orion encouraged. The Rockruff went barreling forward and sank his magical teeth in, doing a lot of damage that turn. A small ‘tch’ sound escaped from the Grumpig as he decided to make the divisive decision to flee instead. Turning down a tunnel, he disappeared. The Rockruff growled in frustration and would have pursued, but a quick “No,” from Orion had him looking back insidiously.
The Herdier, meanwhile, looked back towards Orion with a smile. Orion smiled back, dropping a hand to scratch her ears. “Thank you for the assistance,” he murmured quickly. “Let’s keep going.” The Rockruff, meanwhile, was growling irritated but with some careful nudging on part of the Herdier, ws forced to move along.

Once more they walked down the tunnel way, now several more pairs of feet in tow. It was starting to get colder, and Orion shifted a little uncomfortably. As if on some unknown cue, the Herdier stepped a little closer rubbing up against his leg. Orion chuckled softly reaching down to pet her again. The Rockruff, meanwhile, had started to expand the distance between them, going further. Orion could still see him but… Green eyebrows furrowed slightly, and he may have increased his pace a little.
The sudden smell of something fight-worthy would catch the Herdier’s nose first, and she released a low growl in the process. On hearing it, the Rockruff caught it as well, mimicking the motion. “Be careful, both of you,” was all Orion would say right before they turned another corner and— Orion blinked. The Herdier and the Rockruff blinked. Staring at the strange bonsai before them, all three had to take a moment…
OH FUCK.
The Sudowoodo turned around and seemed legitimately startled to see others so close. Tripping back, he ushered out a cry. Orion found himself backing up as well as both the doggos leaped sideways and lowered into a fighting stance. “Herdier, Thunder Wave. Rockruff, Stone Edge.” Orion snapped out. The Herdier quickly summoned up some charge again releasing it and effectively paralyzing the Sudowoodo. The Rockruff then leapt forward summoning up a series of sharp rocks that broke through and slammed into the Sudowoodo.
Beating the paralysis, the Sudowoodo used a Mimic to summon up his own Stone Edge that went crashing towards the Rockruff. The pup yelped and tripped backwards, scrambling back to his feet as quickly as he could. A small ‘tch’ sound escaped from Orion before he made the next order. “Ice Fang then Thunder Fang!” he ordered. The Herdier ran forward snapping her maw and causing the Sudowoodo to flinch. The Rockruff then bit down causing even sharper pain. The Sudowoodo fell back and scrambled trying to get up. When he did so, however, he turned and ran.
Orion exhaled only to pause as something shiny caught his eye. Bending down to pick it up, he examined the Mercury Gem before pocketing it.
